                                The Original Scripture
                                The Old Story
Long ago, there was fought a great war of all the nations of the land; the deceiving Spades, the virtuous Hearts, the brutal Clubs, and the sly Diamonds. It was a brutal battle that lasted for centuries on end. These days were not counted, and there are no record of how many exact years the world was flung into this state of chaos.
The Hearts seemed to prevail, however, and just before the ending of the great war, they allied themselves with the great Clubs, and defeated the Diamonds. There is not to be a man with the Diamonds blood that roams this world.
However, after the Great War, the Spades fled into darkness. There they continue to conduct, as the Hearts say, their dark spells and their summoning of demons. Rumors have been going about for a few years that the Spades are planning to thwart the Hearts plans of expansion of their empire, and to rebel in one fatal blow.
However, amongst this, legends tell there is a eminent being that walks the earth, the most powerful being in the universe. They call him the Puppet Master. For millenniums, the Spades had taught their children the Art of the Puppeteer, and now the Hearts fear the Spades new plans of his arrival.
The Great War was a horrible and bloody war, and the Kingdom of the Alliance does not want that to occur again. From their efforts to calm the crowds of the possible attack, which none know quite when will happen if it does, riots break out, and many innocents are sent to the guillotine to be beheaded because they are thought to be guilty of being allied with the Spades.
And thus, the ending of the Great War has not settled the bloodshed, yet. Riots and rebels continue to sweep the continent into a land of confusion and chaos.
However, legend tells that four warriors from each clan would someday unite, and save this world from its early destruction once more. It is said that these four warriors hold the key to the future of the war; clad with a birthmark signifying their clan on their skin.

No one knows who to trust. You are only innocent if you are under the Kingdom of Alliance's safety. And maybe even then, you may be subject to questioning.

How It Ended:

Spade, the Four Jacks, and the other companions managed to survive an attack from King Dien Wilmar--- Surviving only because of their pure courage, bravery, and hope for a better world. They held King Dien at that time captive in the destroyed Elven village. Since before then, however, each member was becoming plagued with strange dreams involving a sort of demonic dog that seemed to speak to them of their woes and troubles, offering, it seemed, a source of comfort or resolution to such difficulties.

So much had been endured. Spade had given up his secret to being a half-elf, something highly disregarded, and a runaway slave. From suffering bloomed hope. Crystal, the Jack of Diamonds, and Xion, the Jack of Hearts, were beginning to fall into a relationship... And faced an unexpected pregnancy. Eboni, after much difficulty, had began revealing to Spade her feelings for him. The Puppet Master was beginning to put his plans into place to destroy the Alliance. Everyone was at some a climax. Spade faced his destiny, then, to summon the Uiol; The Elves seemingly only hope.

But what of the Legend of the Four Jacks?

User Image

Here's What Happened:

Spade went forth with Xion to summon the Uiol, convinced that it was the only way he could spare the Elves from the harshness humanity had brought upon them. King Dien was left with the rest of the group, seemingly unable to do anything for now.

However, none had known what had made Dien provoke the attack, other than pure and unrelenting rage for his half-brother.

Before he had left with his troops, Dien had made a terrifying mistake. Almost certain that he would have the Four Jacks at hand, he had began the ritual that would inevitably keep the Alliance in full power- The ritual of the Four Jacks. This, of course, required the blood of his brother- The true next King of the Alliance- to give Dien the power to change the world.

However, as is known, his attempt to contain the Four Jacks failed. The ritual, however, did not stop in its process. Dien hadn't known the harsh punishment for leaving such a powerful ritual open and unsupervised.

Without the completion of the ritual, the power of the world was greatly offset.

Spade and Xion, on their way to complete their very own ritual, realized that quite quickly. They were bombarded by what seemed to be a demon tribe; something very out of place to be in the middle of the Elven territory. But they weren't the normal sort of demons...No. As they were attacked, they knew something very different was going on.

Spade was taken elsewhere and has been missing ever since. There is hope that he is alive, but no one knows of his whereabouts. Xion survived- Only to flee with the remaining of the elves out to a distant corner of their land. Demons and other monsters soon began to ride over the world.

Five years passed.

Dien managed to escape during the chaos, and still rules at the throne of the Alliance. But the Alliance's power has shrank greatly. With the dissappearance of humans due to the random attacks from demonic forces, the Alliance became nothing but a large hide-out of a city attempting to restore order...But too busy to try its hardest. Dien, since then, has grown desperate.

The human population is shrinking. The Clubs were even almost completely elliminated, the few that still live are hiding within the Alliance Gates. Because of the dissappearance of humans, the Elves have become dominant in the world. They, now, have the authority they wished. Because of their ability to survive in harsh circumstances, they now triumph over the humans, leading to a completely new war.

The Uiol was yet to be summoned...And is nearly completely forgotton.

However, the human culture still holds on to their Legend desperately. Where are the Four Jacks? What had happened to them?

Are they even relevant anymore?

They hope so.

Just need to fix a few things up, but we're open! X3 ((FINALLY!!))
User ImageEboni

Eboni looked out the window of one of the few useable homes in the now ravaged elven village. She watched silently as the sun slowly crept above the tree line. Another day beginning... she thought. For five years she had been hiding in the elven village and now she could actually go after the man that had captured her heart and then left her in a ruined village for her own protection before he disappeared. "If he's dead I will resurrect him so I can kill him myself," she said firmly with a sharp nod. Then her shoulders slumped and she wrapped her arms around her as a picture of Spade's face forced its way into her head. "Please, don't be dead," she whispered as a single tear slide down her face.

It had been so long since she had seen Spade and with each passing day her hope that he was still alive shrank. Each night since she realized he wasn't coming back she had dreamed the same dream and last night was no different...

Eboni opened her eyes and looked up at the beautiful, blue, spring sky.  She sat up and looked around, blinking in the afternoon sun.  She was back in the clearing were she had camped with the others for the first time, except it was filled with wild flowers...  And a small boy who was laughing as he ran away from Spade, who was also laughing.  The boy had Spade's eyes and jawline and even his body build, but he had her hair and skin tone.  She smiled fondly as she watched them run about the clearing.

"Save me Mommy," the boy laughed as he reached her with Spade right behind him.  The boy leaped into her outstreached arms and then they all laughed as Spade tackled them all to the ground, where they ended up in a laughing tangle of bodies.  The boy jumped up and darted away laughing loudly.  Spade rolled over so he was laying next to her and proped himself up on one elbow.  "So how is this for our aniversery?" he asked with a small smile that lit up his face.

Eboni's breath caught.  Aniversery...?  Wait that means... Spade was... They were...  Eboni couldn't even think straight as she leaned up to kiss him.  "How's that for an answer," she said softly.  Spade threw his head back and laughed.
They were married and they had a son, Eboni thought and almost giggled with joy...

Eboni laughed as she watched her son and Spade run through the clearing.  She just couldn't get enough of them.  Her boy, her son was so wonderful and Spade was handsome, kind, and everything else she knew he would be.  She was sitting in the shade of one of the larger trees and the sun was just cresting its zenith.  Spade straightened from tickling their son... their son... and came over to where she was sitting.

He kneeled down and put his face very close to her own and gazed into her eyes.  "I know this is probably the wrong time... and the wrong place... But... Thank you.  Thank you for your caring, and your hospitality... and," Spade whispered as his face slowly moved closer to Eboni's until their lips met for one blissful moment.  "... for your love."  Eboni gazed up at Spade and felt for one second an irrational fear of losing him.  But that was insane... they were married and had a son and everything was right with the world.

Before she could reason out her feelings their son came running up calling for their attention as he proudly presented the dragon fly he had captured during his parents' inattention.  “Look what I got,” he said with his chest puffed out proudly.

“It’s beautiful,” she said as she watched the purple insect flutter its wings in a futile attempt to escape its fate.  She suddenly felt uncomfortable as she stared at the dragon fly, it reminded her too much of the mark on her thigh and what it meant.

Spade stood and the feeling of fear returned.  This is stupid, Eboni thought as she watched Spade ruffle the small boy’s hair and tell him how proud he was.  But even though she knew it was irrational Eboni couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong…

Eboni watched her son and Spade chase eachother around the clearing as her feeling of dread worsened.  She knew something was wrong, but she couldn't figure out how she knew it.  As she sat contemplating she caught a flicker of movement out of the corner of her eye.  She started to turn to see what it was but someone grabed her from behind and clamped a hand firmly over her mouth to stop her screams from reaching Spade.

"Fire," a man's voice whispered from behind her smugly.  She knew that voice...  Dien, the King of Hearts!  Franticly, Eboni tried to break free as the soft twang of bows filled her ears.  She watched in horror as a volley of arrows sailed towards her family.  Spade only had time to turn around before he was taken by the first arrow and her son didn't even realize he was in danger before dieing.  Tears stung her eyes as she tried to break free...  She knew a little of healing, maybe it wasn't to late...

"Now your power is mine," Dien whispered in Eboni's ear...

She whipped a another tear from her eye when she heard Crystal and her son enter the main room. She turned around with smile. "How did you guys sleep," she asked as cheerfully as she ruffled the small boy's hair.

Calen smiled up at Eboni, still a little sleepy thought. "He slept like a rock." Crystal said, smiling at her little boy. She loved this boy more than she ever thought she ever would. His father used her and abused resulting the boy before her, but she loved him anyways, her perfect little boy. The only thing that made this life unperfect was that Xion was not there, the feelings she had started to feel for him didn't leave over the years, in fact they grew stronger and stronger every day that passed. She wanted to go and find him, but she didn't know how long that would take and she was not ready to put her son through long travel until he was old enough. Well, that was part of the reason. Another one was that she didn't know how Xion would react to her having a child, he didn't even know she was pregnant when they got seperated. How was she supposed to face him now that the boy was about five years old?

Eboni laughed as she picked up the small boy and tickled him. "Doesn't he always?" she gushed as she put him back down. Then she looked up at Crystal. "What about you?" she asked seriously. If they were going to start their search for Spade and Xion then they both needed to be rested and alert. Especially with the demons running a muck out there.

"Stop it Aunt Eboni." Calen giggled trying to get out of the woman's grasp, not really paying attention to the mood at the moment.
"Could've been better." Crystal admitted after smiling at her boy again. Though her dreams were not plauged by the same scenes every night, they were not good ones. Her dreams were of Xion rejecting her, the way he would look at her with shame and disgust when he found out about her son. "But I'm ready do go." She needed to see him again, even if it was just so the nightmares would end.

Izur Tha'thel

The lean, dark figure walked...On and on. Passing familiar faces of his own, he couldn't help but feel lethargic and trapped in a sense. He knew that a majority of the townfolk had problems with him. He sighed... A long, irritable sight, before approaching his dark, speckles horse.

But what did he care? He seemed to always tell himself that. What were their opinions, anyways? Nothing. He was an unstoppable, breathing soul...Determined to do what he pleased, when he pleased- And no one were to stop him.

To be honest, Izur knew why these feelings were suddenly drawing upon him. As he climbed onto his horse, he thought about it briefly. His father had just given him one of his scoldings...About how he slacked on the job in guarding the city...How he spent too much time attempting to glorify himself with liquor...All of which he already knew. A sunken feeling passed through his body. It wasn't that these sorts of situations put him in a depressive mood... Oh, no. He could never admit to being such a thing. It made him only feel hate- Hate for the feelings of resentment and loss that was being implicated inside of his mind by such fools-

He rode off in an angry stride, lashing at his horse to go faster. He thought then, only of the task he had been given. Sure. If he were to complete this job, he would temporarily satisfy his father, and get him off his back. Perfect plan.

It took a few hours before he finally arrived at the destroyed village. He had been told to scout the area for persons...Or demons. Activity had reported of being sited, and it was his job to investigate.

Grunting, he got off of his horse. He looked around...Irritable at its lack of interesting suspects. Seems like a ghost town... Still. He kicked an old piece of equipment, before continuing on to investigate. Stupid villagers. They're the ones that ought to get their minds checked for stability. There's nothing here.

Just then, though, movement flickered in the corner of his eye. He turned around, his dark eyes focusing on a building nearby. Inside he heard laughter... As if from a child.

"Excuse me." He said, approaching the door tediously,"...Anyone there?"

Crystal froze when she heard the voice. Calen ran over to her and clung to her leg. "Who is that mommy?" He asked, knowing to keep his voice down. He'd grown up in a world where demons were everywhere and was very mature for his age when he needed to be.
"I don't know honey, stay here I'll go check." She said handing Calen to Eboni and grabbing the bow by the door and quiver that went with it. She crept out around the wall and looked through a hole in another wall. She saw an elf man with Dark hair and eyes very near their 'home'. She made a split second decision and stepped out from the door, bow drawn.
"Who are you?" She asked aiming the arrow at his throat. She leared over the years to use this wepon and she rarely missed now.

Eboni pushed Calen behind her and grabbed the wicked looking spear leaning against the wall and positioned herself between the young boy and the door. She could hear voices coming from outside. Who is she talking to? Eboni thought as she crept forward. "Calen stay here," she said as she slipped around the corner and peeked through the hole in the wall.

Do you remember me?
Because I can tell you now...

╔════▄▀▄▀▄▄▀▄▀▄═══════════════════╗

Faerie sighed as she set her bag down and flopped onto the ground, resting her head in between her knees. She took deep, long breaths, exhaling slowly as if unwilling to let the air leave her body.

She remembered this.

For so many years, she had been trapped inside the city walls. Was it five years already? In the slums and stink and dank air, where pollution in the air made it so that the sky never seem quite the right shade of blue. Faerie sighed as she leaned back and leaned against the tree gently. Any sudden movements may attract enemies, and Faerie felt she deserved a break.

Finally. She was free of Selkia. Or at least, she had finally left, much to the worry and tears of her mother. Needles of guilt prodded her heart as Faerie remembered her mother’s face. Ava was still beautiful, but she looked older than she was, like most of the women in the city. But in the past few years, the black-haired woman who had grown her hair out seemed to grow stronger. She had learned to smile and look at things optimistically, cheering others on and listening patiently.

Only Faerie knew that her mother did these things as a form of self-comfort, and because Ava wanted the man she loved to be proud of her. So Ava did what he would have done, what they had always watched him do for others and what he had done for them. With that in mind, Faerie got back onto her feet and started walking again. She couldn’t afford to stay in one place too long.

When she was a child, she liked to observe things. Big things. Little things. Amazing things. Plain things. They were all something beautiful and captivating to her. But he had always been the most captivating of all. Even as a child, Faerie had thought her “’Meo” and Mommy looked pretty together. She hadn’t understood yet that Mattimeo wasn’t her blood father, though he was in every other way. As a child, she had trouble speaking and was a little slow, too caught up in her own dream world. A world that had been harshly broken, and something Faerie now knew her father and mother had been desperately trying to protect.

It wasn’t until she reached a forest that Faerie paused. Her memory was one of the best. And she remembered all those little things as a child. Little details, little landscapes, and little markers in her times of wakefulness as she rode a griffin through the sky, the arms of her parents around her.

It was using those dream-like memories to guide herself through the abandoned forest, the beautiful place she remembered landing in that journey long ago. She examined a skeleton of a horse which some rider had left there after it had died. Examining the skeleton she concluded that the horse probably died of exhaustion. There weren’t any breaks in the bones besides those made my animals to get at the horse meat.

Moving away, Faerie continued to wander through the forest. She had been lucky so far, only meeting up with two small groups of the “younger” Elves. And as she rested after hours of wandering, Faerie ran her hand her the metal and leather armor that earned her the nickname “Titania”, examining them for nicks and weak spots as well as for comfort. The armor had been her father’s, long ago and before he became a traveling sword. His family did not have money, and Mattimeo did not have many worldly possessions that he could give. What was given to them as a result, was his armor. Armor that would have been too small for the Mattimeo Ava and Faerie remembered. So it was adjusted and fitted onto Faerie instead, Faerie who was already learning how to fight, despite her mother’s skepticism and fears.

And finally, she came upon it. The beautiful village she remembered as a younger child was no longer there. Almost everything had been abandoned, and signs of an old battle were prominent. Faerie, who had no idea where Mattimeo was, had always thought this was as good idea as any to start. It seemed it was more of a refuge than anything else, and the Elves had all but forgotten it in their new power. Her first exploration led her to a group of old, forgotten graces. The most prominent was a single stone that rested in the dusty remains and signs of a pyre, the marks undecipherable to Faerie in its scrawl. Moving on to the buildings, she froze, not making any sudden movements as she saw that the place wasn’t as abandoned as she thought.

It seemed one of the houses had not been abandoned. There was a woman standing defensively at the doorway with an arrow trained at a “younger” Elf—a scout or guard perhaps—that was standing outside the house. Studying them as she did with all things, Faerie noted that the Elf had was dangerous, more dangerous than most of his generation colleagues. He seemed to have a slyness and a line of sheer utter brutality the others no longer possessed as strongly. Her eyes widened as her eyes came to the woman’s face.

That woman at the doorway. That face. Faerie remembered this woman

In a few moments, Izur watched as the door he stood a few feet away before propelled open quickly, a fierce woman appearing in the doorway- Bow drawn. In response, he froze, his dark, shifty eyes fixated on the tip of the arrowhead. He knew even touching hte sword at his side would be a very bad idea- The woman, upon seeing him reach for his weapon, would probably react violently and pierce his throat with her arrow.

"Woah there..." He put both hands up, fingers spread, and lowered his head a bit, trying to show that he was no threat,"...Didn't mean to startle you, miss. I assure you I'm just here to check up on this place. Ever since the raid, I'm affraid no one has so much as touched this village."

Lowering his hands, half of his face pulled into a sly smile. In a moment, his dark eyes scanned her figure. A human? He nearly cocked his head to one side in curiousity. What was a human doing way out here...?

"To be honest, I wasn't expecting to find anyone here." He crossed his arms, but remained in his stance,"I'm quite surprised you haven't been torn apart by demons, yet." At the last phrase, his smile widened, and he met her eyes.

His mind raced. Well, this proved to be much less boring then he had thought. He hadn't seen a human in...Well, years. He thought they were all hiding behind the walls of Selkia, if anything; certianly not a ew miles out from his home.

It was then that he made up his mind. He came closer to the woman, weapon untouched- looking past her as if he wanted to look inside.
"Mind if I come in?" A playful smile danced on his lips, lighting up his eyes,"I'm rather curious on how you've been able to hold up for so long."

It was then that he noticed another girl come upon the seen, looking quite bewildered as well. Another human? His eyebrows raised a bit, surprised.
