Omega

NOTE there will not be any Omega mutants in this RP unless they are actually from the comics!
Omega level mutants are extremely powerful mutants, though is otherwise not clearly defined. Often viewed as mutants whose power may not have an actual limit or can have their powers affect things in vast (wordly or larger) quantities. While many mutants are speculated or believed by fans to be Omega, only a small handful have actually been confirmed in comics as Omega mutants in mainstream 616 universe.
Examples: Hope Summers, Franklin Richards, Jean Grey, Quentine Quire, Bobby Drake


Alpha

Alpha mutants have extremely strong powers that can be controlled (ie: turned on/off at will) while not having any significant flaws to their powers.
Examples: Shadowcat, Charles Xavier, Scarlet Witch, Cyclops


Beta

Beta mutants, like Alphas, have extremely strong powers and can pass appearance wise as a normal human. The main difference between an Alpha and Beta mutants is that Beta mutants cannot fully control their power. Wolverine, for example, cannot turn off his healing factor but otherwise looks like a regular human.

Delta

Delta mutants don't have any significant flaws to their powers and can usually pass as a normal human. Main difference between a Delta and Alpha or Beta mutants is that Delta powers are not as strong as them, or even Gamma mutants. Its believed about half the mutant population are Delta mutants.
Examples: Domino, Callisto


Gamma

Gamma mutants generally have strong powers like Alpha and Beta mutants. Big difference is Gamma mutants also have significant flaws to their powers that make life difficult. For most Gamma mutants, this means being completely unable to pass as a normal human, or may be otherwise detrimental to their health or way they live.
Examples: Beast, Nightcrawler


Epsilon

Epsilon mutants are generally considered unfortunate. They have physical mutations that make it impossible to pass as a regular person, and sometimes detrimental to their health. They differ from Gamma mainly that their mutation leads little in regard to "superpowers" that will be of benefit, or any actual power at all.

Isn't Cyclops a Beta since he can't turn his power off?

Nope! A while back in comics it was explained the reason Scott can't stop his powers from working isn't due to the powers, but trauma from when he was a kid. His lack of control actually has nothing to do with his mutation.


My character is _______ level, but eventually will be _______

Sorry, but no. The mutation level is not a sliding scale. Great example is many list their character as "Delta with Alpha possibilities". If their power has the potential to be Alpha or another stronger level, then they would be that level. Great example is Iceman. He displays Alpha powers usually while his powers are actually Omega level. This generally is viewed as a mix of lack of imagination in the use of his powers and mental blocks/limits subconsciously put on himself due to not knowing how to wield such power.

Same with control. If your character in the future will (or could) have full control of their powers but doesn't currently does not make them a Beta mutant currently, they would still be an Alpha. Great example of this is Cyclops. As stated earlier, he is an Alpha mutant. His lack of being able to turn off his power stems from childhood trauma.

Are original (canon) X-Men allowed?
Sorry, but for the most part no. This RP is set up mostly for OCs. Some canons will be allowed, but we want to keep them to characters in the comics that are younger and newer and don't have a lot of experience in the field. Good examples of such chars would be Eva Tempus and Christopher Muse from the current volume of Uncanny X-Men.

What is the inspiration for this RP?
This is (roughly) a five year time jump from the previous RP X-Men Academy, which was in turn a direct continuation of Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters (as such, expect to see characters that are continued from those RPs). Those RPs in themselves were loosely based both off the comics, and the X-Men movies.

There was also a brief RP set in the same universe called Founders. Due to having two, both short lived, versions, I'm not setting an official note on which version is official or not. Will state however that the last event in the second iteration that never finished (the Infiltrate Xavier's) I'm retconning to taking place in summer. Also while some leeway will be given, I will highly suggest any characters brought over from that RP to be aged four years. This school shut down shortly after the Sentinel attack on Xavier's.

So do I need to be familiar with those previous RPs?
No, you don't. While it may help a little if your character was attending the Institute before it closed in setting up relations with other chars, it really isn't needed. Any questions though, please feel free to ask in the OOC here.

So can my character be an adult?
Sorry if the wording is odd, but for now only three will be allowed. Otherwise, max age is 24! This will most likely change in the future, but for now the purpose of the RP is to have former students who are inexperienced suddenly thrown out to deal with the situation with little guidance.

My character will have ________, and accelerated healing and/or regeneration!
Oh #@*&! Briefly thought I could skip this, but guess not. Some reason its rather common to see profiles sent in with healing/regeneration tacked on. No, just no! This highly annoys me. Take a moment to think about how much sense it makes for that power to fit in with the rest of your character's powers. Does it make sense? Probably not, and so I won't want to see it. If it actually makes some sense, then talk to Adverb and LittleLunarMouse about what you are planning and see if you can get a pass before making a profile.

Can you explain the Sentinels?
Sure! They vary in comics and shows/movies. Starting Sentinels will mainly be modeled after the 90's cartoon. They are around 12 meters tall (roughly four stories), and main armaments are as follows. Two metal cables that can extent out from the wrist and used mainly to wrap around and capture enemies. Electrical shocks can be sent out to further subdue foes through the cables. Lasers that may fire both from a round circle on the palms or out of the eyes and can be used to stun or cause potentially lethal damage. Flight is capable, and they hold a very human-like build. Inside the chest is a small container capable of holding one mutant. Sentinels also contain visual and audio scanners that are used to identify mutants (either known from registration, or known through previous encounters). So while an unregistered mutant can possibly go unnoticed, any use of power caught will put them into their database (note: other ways to be placed in the database also exist).

Will more adults be allowed in the future then?
Eventually, yes. While there is no definitive time or circumstance for more slots to open, a few things will be factored in.

I was told ______, but now am being told ______, why?
This RP has two creators, LittleLunarMouse and Adverb. If they are not about, decisions rest on Kat the Strange. What Kat says, goes unless Adverb or Mouse directly acknowledges what she said and rules differently. In the same sense, Mouse or Adverb may give a ruling, and after discussion with the other might deem it has to be changed. During such possible rulings, we will try to inform you first of that possibility, and later if the ruling is changed it will be explained why. Overall, chances of a ruling from any three being changed is unlikely, but can happen.

Can I play...

a non-mutant? - Yes you can, actually. Just as long as it makes sense to have them in the RP.

A government agent? - Yes, and in fact a couple have already been made up. Please please please though talk to Adverb and/or Kat the Strange on your character plans if you want to go this route so things don't accidentally clash with current plans.

with Robert Downy Jr, Chris Evans...? - or anyone else from a recent Marvel flick? Umm... sorry but no for two reasons. One is even though the Marvel films and X-Men films aren't sharing the same universe, those actors are highly recognized as those roles. There is also a slight chance in the future that this RP will open up to the possibility of actually allowing those characters in it, which then would be good to have it open from Chris Evans to be Captain America, RDJ to be Iron Man, and so forth.

There are two main exceptions to this. First being someone bringing in a character from the previous RP if their original face claim falls into this category. Best example here is Mouse's character Eden uses Emma Stone. She was using that character w/ Emma Stone before the new Spider-Man movies though. The other is if the images you wish to use of a certain actor do not resemble much how they look in the films. Great examples would be Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler) or Rebecca Romijn (Mistique) not decked out in their character's make up.
