User ImageOnce again the demoness expertly evaded her questions, leaving Mina none the wiser as to her true intentions, but she breathed a sigh of relief when the demoness said that Alex would live. Then the wolf demon introduced herself as Tala, so Mina gave her a polite but slightly confused greeting, attempting once more to get to the heart of the matter, but Tala would have none of it. For a demon, Mina thought she was surprisingly... playful. And that quality only served to make Tala even more of a mystery. As she departed, Mina started to give her the customary farewell: "May the spirits blessings go with you" before interrupting herself, realizing that it was entirely inappropriate to say such a thing to a demon. The scriptures clearly stated that the spirits of all living things shunned the unnatural, including demons.

She pondered that for a minute. Even the very figures of speech she was raised to use, were against her showing any kindness or mercy to demons. When she first started her journey, it was to try to reconcile her teachings with her heart, and now that it had been nearly two years since she began, she found herself no closer to finding the answer. She looked down at Alex with a sigh, then shook her head. Now was not the time to play philosopher. She hoisted him on her back, and carried him a short distance to a spot next to a nearby mesa. It wasn't quite a cave, more of a rocky overhang, but at least he would be less exposed here while she went and gathered supplies. About half an hour later, she returned with a medium-sized pouch, and an armful of firewood. The fire would serve several purposes: to brew a remedy, to keep both of them warm, and to be used as a beacon for others to find them. She lit the fire a safe distance away from Alex, then checked on his condition. He still felt as cold as a corpse. Thinking of ways to keep him warm, Mina hit upon an idea which was, perhaps, a little risky. But Alex was unconscious and there was nobody else around to see. If any rescuers came, she would be able to see them from a distance out on this open wasteland before they got too close. And she had to do something to keep his blood warm.

So Mina stood up, took one more glance at Alex to make sure he was completely and totally asleep, then untied the bow on the sash around her waist. Setting the red sash down on the ground, she then slipped her robe off of her shoulders, unfolding it so that it returned to its original configuration as a large rectangular cut of white cloth, albeit with the sleeves sewed on. Standing over Alex, she draped what was once her robe over him like a blanket, and then backed off, rubbing her now bare arm a little uncomfortably. The truth was, she was currently not much less dressed than D without her jacket, but Mina was accustomed to a significantly more conservative style, as mandated by her station as priestess. The thought of being seen like this mortified her, but she figured she would hear Alex stir if he woke up, and she could see anybody else coming from a mile away. Taking refuge in such thoughts, she turned her back on her patient to begin preparations for when he woke up.

Alexander Roh, The Omen

Killing is all i know.

It took A full day for Alexander to show any greater sign of life. But too him it had felt like several lifetimes. Coming too inside what looked like a stone cave in the wastes the slayer tried to lift his arms to rub his face. Finding out soon after that doing so was imposable. At that very moment the events of the past night hit him all at once causing him to cry out. If he had the power to flail about he would have. images of the swift kills of the humans that joined the fray now haunting him. How could he just kill them without thinking like that? What the hell had happened? So many questions and yet finding the answer brought a whole new fear. Sure he knew that his Reaver demon blood would one day change him but what had happened was completely different. He was not just a mindless weapon but a monster. Worse was the fact that he was trapped in his own mind to witness everything unfold.

Laying there looking at the stone above him Alexanders breathing became heavy. It hurt to breath.....hell it hurt to think. Whatever had truly happened had taken its toll on every cell in his body. Moreover it warped his mind some. The hunger had not completely left him. Yet at the same time there was something more now. Almost as if deep inside he had gained something he couldn't put his finger on.

So i'll just make them wish for hell

User ImageMina's voice came resonating off of the walls of the makeshift cliffside shelter. "Close your eyes," she commanded without explaining why it was necessary. She had heard Alex begin to stir, and had quickly retreated outside to hide her exposed body from view. After counting to five under her breath to make sure that the white-haired boy had time to do so, she stepped slowly, carefully back into the cave. Once she was sure that Alex's eyes were tightly shut, she managed to relax a little. She sat down behind him, and supported his shoulders while lifting him slightly so that his head was propped up on her lap. Thankfully she still had on her red skirt, so it wasn't any more scandalous than it needed to be. Beside her was a small stone bowl, which was actually a mortar that she had taken from the apothecary. It was full of a thick, white porridge, still warm from the fire it had been sitting over. With both hands, she put the bowl to Alexander's lips, allowing him to lap up small mouthfuls.

"You've been asleep for over a day, Alexander. Your body will need some calories to help it recuperate," she explained. "I'm sorry this porridge may be a little bland, but you need to eat something." What the meal lacked in flavor, it made up for with nutritional value and ease of digestion, both of which would help him recover sooner. Back in her hometown, it was what she usually prescribed to patients who had just woken up from intense physical trauma. "Is there anything you need? You needn't say anything if not," she said with a slight hint of concern in her voice. She knew from having watched over him that his body was completely exhausted still, and even saying a few words would be difficult for him at this stage. The truth was, she was also worn out, partially from taking care of the unconscious slayer but also from worry.

Being deep in the earth as she slumbered somehow blocked the horrible visions from Deanne, leaving plenty of room for the nightmarish memories. At first she was witnessing her mother's death again, being held down by Michail and Rafael as they feed from her sweet half cast blood. She could feel every bite as if it were happening again, the anger boiling up inside her. Then she could see the great war, people she'd once loved dying all around her, D powerless to do anything against it. Her lover, her best friend... everyone! That soon melted into another war zone not unlike the last... but there was Mina. And the boy! The whole town and so many more people were fighting for their lives.

"NO!" Deanne roared out as her eyes snapped open and she saw the darkness of her grave. She drew a deep breath and lay there for a moment, wishing she could get her hands on something alcoholic to ward off these thoughts. After a moment Deanne started to dig her way out, pulling herself from the ground and covering the hole. There were a few people about, one or two who'd decided to watch where she slept. The Dunpeel nodded her head at them in thanks, brushed off some of the dirt, still covered in dry blood and earth, and started on her way back to where they had fought. She was surprised at how far they'd all traveled in such a short amount of time but then again when the thirst takes over there is no time, only blood and power. Eventually she found her hat and cloak, both a little worse for ware. With them still smelling of her some of the lower level imp demons in the group had attacked them, thinking she'd be there, only to get a mouthful of fabric. There were torn places on the outer brim of her hat and at the edges of her cloak but they would still cover her sufficiently. Deanne donned her protective clothes and returned to the camp site. On the way back through the town that was now rubble she managed to find a bottle of some unmarked liquor and a small rag doll. She placed the doll in one of her gun holsters, holding the pistol in case she ran into any stray demons, and continued on her way.

It was a depressing sight to see, so many broken hearts over lost homes and friends. D followed her nose to a sweet young girl and her father, both covered in ash and dirt probably from rummaging for supplies. The little girl shied away from the much taller, frighteningly pale woman, hiding behind her father. "Don't worry, I'm not here to hurt you. I think I found something you may want back." The Dunpeel reached under her cloak to her holster where the rag doll sat as she replaced her weapon and offered it to the child who immediately smiled and reached for it, cuddling it before looking up at D and hugging her legs. The half breed nearly smiled, placing a caring hand on the girls head. "If you and the others don't mind I would like to take up watch of the site at night. You all need your rest." The father nodded and with that Deanne walked away, taking out the bottle and swigging at it.

Tala, the Blood Wolf

"Were it my head resting in your lap, being hand-fed by a beautiful woman such as yourself I believe I would have everything I needed." Tala's voice abruptly answered before the sound of her sharp teeth puncturing the skin of an apple echoed lightly. Munching contentedly, the wolf demon continued, obviously indifferent to Mina's commands to look away. "You really should be more confident in your body; it seems rather wasteful to have you so covered up all the time." The irony of course was that, while Tala did not dress in so many layers as the priestess, her shirt and pants still covered her respectfully from shoulder to calf.

Her tail flicked back and forth, portraying her elated emotional state as she walked closer and began squeezing Mina's exposed shoulders with her free hand. It was when you caught people with their guards down like this that you truly got to observe how they reacted and learned so much more about their character. As it was Tala considered herself lucky to have been dismissed from the Court with only a minimum of punishment and had found the pair as they were. While completely justifiable in her mind, the fact that she was both verbally and -to a lesser, but still rather pointed extent- physically poking and prodding at Mina in her embarrassed state simply to see how she reacted might have been viewed as a little mean by anyone else.

Satisfied that she had taken the bodily examination as far as it needed to go, she sat down with a contented sigh and curled her tail into her lap, continuing to munch on her sweet snack while her free hand stroked her tail. Now that she was capable of making eye contact with the girl, it also became apparent that her face bore several deep cuts that resembled an almost runic configuration and appeared to just barely have healed closed. "My punishment." Tala answered preemptively as she could see the girl react and the question form on her lips. "For not properly avenging Klex with the death of his slayers; and no, there is nothing you can do to heal them. They will close on their own time and only get worse if interfered with." As she had anticipated however, the spoils and destruction of such a strategic human settlement had proved her too useful to be completely disposed of. After the brief ritual wherein her enchanted wounds were put in place, she was quickly left to her own devices; without a home or a welcoming brood, she was very nearly the epitome of 'out of sight, out of mind'.

"My injuries are hardly worth mentioning, however; such a boring subject. Pick something more interesting." Though she would never admit it, Tala was simply attempting to pass the time now that her obligations to the Court were temporarily fulfilled; and the fact of the matter was that these slayers, particularly the two before her now... intrigued her.

From out over the horizon, a low rumbling sound approached the wreckage of the town. Some of the refugees of the attack heard the sound and curiously made their way to the tops of buildings or to the outskirts of the town to see what the sound was. Some of them dreaded that it was some terrible war machine brought by the demons to finish them off, but it was nothing of the sort. A large truck was slowly making its way towards them. It had once been a commercial shipping truck, but was now painted white and gold and repurposed to fit the need of its current owner. The truck eventually pulled into the center of the town, slowing down as people gathered around it. There was a clank in the back, and it opened up to reveal a handful of men and women wearing white robes with red accents. Some of the townspeople were confused, but others recognized the signature uniform that gave them away.

"It's the Templar! The Templar are here!" exclaimed a voice, followed by murmurs. Rumors told of a religious group that roamed the earth, defending the weak and lending aid to those who needed it. These rumors were confirmed to be true when the Templar set up a queue in front of their truck, handing out relief kits to the grateful populace.

User ImageMina froze in terror at the sound of Tala's voice. Normally it would have been quite welcome and she wouldn't even have minded that the demon was showing up so unexpectedly, but this was a bad time, to say the least. "P-please don't look," she managed to stammer, her voice barely above a whisper. Like a deer caught in headlights, the priestess was unable to make a movement until Tala touched her shoulder, at which point she recoiled as though she had been burned with a hot poker. Mina's composure seldom cracked, even under the threat of imminent death, but this type of situation was one that her secluded lifestyle at the temple failed to prepare her for. She let out a girlish squeak, which surprised even herself, as she leaned forward and wrapped her arms protectively around her bare body, ineffectively shying away from the intrusive wolf demon's prodding. She didn't know what to say to her comment about being more confident in her body, so instead she just blushed, which caused her even more embarrassment and resulted in a feedback loop of shame, and along with a vague sense of guilt.

Finally she got some reprieve as Tala backed off, and she managed to overcome her blushing long enough to take a look at the demon's face. She almost started to ask 'what happened?' but Tala was, as usual, a step ahead of her and was demanding a change in subject. Although they had conversed a few times already, it still felt surreal to Mina to be making idle chat to a demon, especially while half-undressed. At first she was going to bring up, once again, the question of why Tala was even bothering to keep them alive, but by now she had learned the lesson that doing so would be fruitless. For whatever reason, Tala had shown that she wished to keep her motives a secret. Not wanting to be rude, however, Mina asked something else that she had always wondered about demonkind.

"D-do you have a family, Lady Tala?" she asked, still a little uncomfortable with the present state of affairs. Although it may have sounded like it, Mina did not intend to ask about Tala's family specifically. But she had been taught that demons were a faceless swarm of evil, with no emotions or feelings other than malice. But they had to come from somewhere, right? Surely they had relatives, perhaps even friends and loved ones. And if so, killing a demon was no different from killing a human.

Luke wondered the particularly high outcrop that looked over parts of the ruins. Some people seemed to be settling in while others still wondered about. A guard was kept constantly and Luke volunteered most of his time doing the same. Not much had bothered the reticently homeless group of humans. The attack on the town seemed to be that was all to happen. Which was a positive outcome for the group, not all that was left to discover was a leader with a plan. The humans could stay within the ruins, but not for long. They need something with walls, lookout point, and a place they could start a new again. A place that truly was not meant for Luke. Soon he would start wondering again, looking for game to catch and sell to different cities.

A gleam of sunlight bouncing off of a metallic object caught his attention. A relief truck driven by the Templar group drove into the center of the ruin area and began to hand out supplies. The group was easily identified by their uniforms. Luke watched for a bit, then realized that that one girl from before all this happened Mina, that was her name... The thought of how she even became wrapped up in this ordeal made the young human wonder, also that fact that he had not seen her for a whole day. Tired of waiting around Luke jumped on his bike and circled down towards the gathering place near the Templar truck. Shouts of demands of certain supplies were coming from every which way and people were beginning to shove each other. Which will soon turn into trampling then death. he thought strictly as he walked his bike over into the crowd. Parking the bike he managed to stand atop the seat and overlooked the fuddled Templars and overbearing civilians.
"Hey!" Luke yelled at the top of his lungs and eyes quickly trickled over to him, "I want a nice orderly line here folks! One person at a time and these people maybe be able to give you the necessities you need!" The formation of a line seemed to make thing look and feel a bit better. The mob made Luke feel as if he were watching a ground of hell demons chase down prey that was bigger then you average cat. Hopping down off his bike and hand from behind rested on his shoulder. Startling the young man, Luke turned to see a rather large hooded Templar. Facial features could not be recognized but Luke still stared at the man's face as if were there.
"Were looking for someone, have you seen her?" a rough voice exited the void and handed Luke a crude drawing of a young girl. Mina automatically pictured in his mind, though Luke shook his head no. "I have not seen her sorry," he commented in a bland tone. In all truth Luke was telling the truth, he had not seen the girl in a day. Also, there was something inside the boy that made him not trusting of this group, but he could not place his finger on it. Luke wheeled his bike away from the now orderly commotion. He was debating of weather to find the girl himself or have fate do the job for him.

Tala, the Blood Wolf

Digging her teeth into the skin of the fruit in her hands, Tala's blood red orbs rose up to meet Mina's gaze. For a moment they seemed almost offended, staring the priestess down with a frightening intensity while her ears twitched at her words. With a twist of her head she tore the bite from the apple much as she would the throat of her prey, though as she remade eye contact her visage had regained its composed state. "You can drop the formality, Mina. I am not royalty any longer after all." she replied softly, her voice wavering the slightest amount. She had asked the girl to pick an interesting subject and she could not deny that it was appropriate, but while her intuition picked up that she was asking about all of demonkind the literal words plucked at strings that were buried deep within her heart. Mina had no way of knowing that however, so she attempted to proceed as best she could.

"You mean to ask if demons have families, I take it?" She confirmed before continuing. "Every race is different, much like the variety among your species in this world. Some are more tightly knit than others; imps are born rapidly in large numbers so there are very little ties to one another, whereas my brood raises a litter only to replenish our number, so familial connections become..." her voice trailed off, and while her expression never lost its composed state her eyes became more reflective as tears just started to emerge. Her next word was barely more than an audible whisper: "... everything."

The air hung still after Tala's answer, and she had to struggle against howling in her grief as memories of her murdered father and forced exile from her brood flashed through her mind. Just as Mina was physically laid partially bare before her, it seemed the wolf demon was emotionally so for once. While her eyes never lost their sadness, her mouth at least formed a small smile as she laughed to lighten the mood, wiping her eyes upon her sleeve. "Look at me, crying like a lost pup over a simple question!" she regained her composure quickly after that, and while it may or may not have been a mutual feeling, she somehow felt closer to the priestess on an emotional level.

"What of you? I remember visiting the great temples in the north many a year ago and from what I could observe humans either arrived on their own or were left there by their parents to be raised and trained. Which were you?"

User ImageWatching Tala's reaction to the question, it didn't take a cosmic understanding to deduce how she felt. Her first reaction was almost frightening, and for a brief moment Mina wondered if it really was safe to be conversing with a demon like this. But that moment passed so quickly, she thought she might even have imagined it. What came next, however, was most revealing. Not royalty any longer...? It was clear that something terrible had happened within the demoness's family, and though she always put up that sly and playful facade, there was something gnawing deep at her core. The grief was so powerful that, for a moment, it nearly bled into Mina's own emotions, and she briefly felt an inexplicable anger towards an event that she knew nothing about.

After that moment of empathy, for better or for worse, the layers of mystique that Tala had for her were diminished. Although she still didn't know the exact details, and likely never would, she had a vague understanding which was enough to allow her to see Tala as a person, not just a mysterious savior. "I'm sorry," she said quietly, both for having brought up painful memories and for the tragic event in the past. Had she been more fully clothed, she might have even offered Tala a hug, but she still wasn't quite at that level of comfort yet.

When she was asked the question of her own origin, a faint smile came to Mina's lips as she looked off in the distance. It was the direction of Suju, her hometown. "I was both. My parents accompanied me after I had been chosen to become the shrine maiden, but it was a journey I would have gladly made on my own." For Mina, there was no greater honor she could have asked for than to be chosen, by the Teacher himself at that. "And though I was raised in the temple, I was given the opportunity to visit my family on a regular basis, so really it was like having two families," she explained with a fond smile, remembering how proud her parents were, and the kindness with which the temple priests treated her. Although the studies were intense, and the work was hard, Mina's upbringing was actually rather idyllic, in a world full of grief and sorrow. Being aware of her good fortune compared to others was part of the reason why she had turned out like she did. She felt she owed it to others, to whom fate was less kind. At this thought, her gaze fell back down to Alexander. What kind of destiny lay ahead of him? Would he overcome his curse, or was he fated to succumb to it?

After a while of patrolling the area Deanne noticed an aura she didn't like one bit. "She's here." She hurried off and eventually found herself listening in on Tala and Mina's conversation. When there was a break in the conversation Deanne piped up. "Now that surprises me. The creature that lead the attack on these people not only has the nerve to show her face in their refuge but also wants to talk about her broken puppy heart. Well sorry love, don't expect your woes to wall on sympathetic ears here." To Mina it would probably seem like Deanne was being rude, and in a way she was, but she had no trust for this demon and wamted to be sure the towns folk were safe. "Some demon's can feel... I'll admit that. But when it comes to families most would devour their own mothers for a little more power and a higher standing. Some would even feel the need to create abominations, children who are crimes against nature itself to use them as weapons." Her words were dripping with venom as she leaned against a wall, a scowl on her face. Sure the last of it was personal, but none of it was a lie. The Dunpeel growled and tried to push her anger away. "So wolf, why are you here? To taunt us? To size us up for another attack?"

Tala, the Blood Wolf

If Tala's emotional barriers had been ever so gently lowered by the pleasant conversation with Mina, D's arrival locked them tightly back up. It seemed that in the grief her memories had conjured she had temporarily lost enough focus to disperse the mask over her aura, and while she chided herself mentally for the brief failure, her expression showed nothing but her trademark playful grin.

She could feel Mina's reaction to D's words, the way her heartbeat fluttered, her cheeks slightly flushed. Tala showed no regret as she openly confirmed what the Dunpeal had accused her of when the priestess asked if it were true. "The Blood Court demanded Klex be avenged; as the superior demon within the area at the time of his death, it was me they ordered to carry out their wishes." Her words were indeed a confession, though a careful listener would also pick out that the assault was not a personal matter, but merely one of compliance to a higher authority.

"As for why I am here." she shifted her attention to the half-blood, an air of deceptive mischief exuding from her as she rose to her feet, her tail twitching side-to-side. "It is simply because I chose to be. However, as it seems my presence is no longer much appreciated, I will take my leave for the time being." As the demon made her exit, she stopped to kneel next to the priestess and whispered quietly into her ear. While the act may have put D on edge, Mina nodded in understanding at first, though a massive blush rose to her cheeks as Tala grinned and rose once again.

As she passed the Dunpeal she took the final remaining bite from her apple, discarding the core and wiping the corners of her lips with a delicate finger. "It is quite fortunate you have arrived, actually. She will need help transporting the boy to safe shelter; I believe you are quite suited for such an endeavor." Motioning for D to follow, she brought the woman just out of eye and earshot from Mina to privately speak for just a moment. "You do not trust me and I can understand that, but even you must realize that I have risked much to keep you and your comrades alive." She had lost the playful demeanor from earlier and was now staring down with a serious intensity. Her ears flickered as they caught far-off sounds, her visage clearly indicating she was deeply calculating.

"The boy needs help. He will survive, but the sooner his recovery the better. You will have to be the one to deliver him to your refuge, though the company you will encounter there will be much more hostile than you expect." At that moment Tala offered a vial pilfered from one of her pockets. It was a small, crystalline object that fit easily into the palm of her hand and was filled with a crimson liquid. "Should you decide you need my assistance, simply break this upon the ground to summon me."

Turning to leave, she paused as she spoke up one last time, still facing away. "Oh, one last thing." Turning to speak over her shoulder once again, the playful expression was back in place and her crimson irises carried a similar glint.

"Try not to get burned."

A fair-skinned boy stared out from inside the Templar truck. His blue eyes scanned the wreckage left behind by the demon invasion, and though he made no outward signs, inwardly he bristled. Demons were a plague upon fair Mother Earth, which he had vowed to wipe out down to the very last imp. It was sights like these that served to further his conviction. There was a knock on the window of the truck, and the boy opened the door.

"Teacher, the people wish to hear you speak," reported a hooded templar, easily a foot taller than the blue-eyed boy had he not been bowing.

The Teacher nodded, and stepped out of the truck. Most children his age and build tended to be lanky and awkward, uncomfortable with their rapidly growing bodies. But Melchizedek walked with the regal air of a king. Unlike the Templar, and most priests who wore white and red, his clothing was accented with gold. People murmured as he approached, mostly about his age. But the whispers ceased when he began to speak. There was just something about him that commanded respect, even awe.

"My brothers and sisters. Mankind is beset on all sides by evil, as we all know and as you have experienced first hand. But one must be aware that evil can come in all shapes and sizes. Evil is cunning. They will whisper honeyed words into your ear, gain your trust with false acts of kindness, then strike when your guard is down. Some of you may even have been tricked into complacency. Do not be ashamed; it is not your fault that you were fooled. But you must be cautious, not just of demons but all manner of unholy abominations, as well as those who support them. As long as we stand ever vigilant, we will be able to restore Mother Earth to her original beauty. For we represent the forces of good, and even the blackest night is chased away by the rising sun."

The Teacher was met with cheers from the people who were moved by his charisma, drinking in his words of hope like a parched man stranded in a desert. And the more they listened to him, the more their hearts were steeled against the so-called forces of evil.

User ImageHad Mina been asked two years ago what she thought she would be doing right now, the last thing she would have thought of was 'sharing life stories with a vampire and a demon'. But here she was. The revelation that Tala herself had been the one leading the invasion came as a shock, but it made sense, as the damage could have been much worse than it actually was. Though she was still just as clueless concerning Tala's motives as she was the first time they met, Mina had already placed her trust in the demon by now.

She rose when Tala mentioned the relocation of Alex. It seemed that they would finally be able to get him some better care, and D could work some of that white magic which had come in handy the last time. While the other two had stepped out of earshot, Mina took this opportunity to gently lift the white cloth off of the unconscious slayer, and wrap it around herself in its original configuration. She was tying off the sash by the time D returned, hoping that she wouldn't have to endure any further comments about her embarrassing state, particular from someone as well-endowed as D.

The wolf demon did not return the harsh tone that D had given her simply maintaining her mischievous air. When she moved to whisper to Mina D growled, drawing her right pistol with inhuman speed and aiming it right at Tala's skull. "Do you really think sudden movements are wise at this moment?" As much as she hated to admit it to herself in the little time she'd spent with these slayers and the people outside those walls D could not help but feel protective of them all. And like a familiar, loyal to it's charge she would protect them to her last breath if she had to. The smell of Tala's demon blood pulsing through her veins as she brushed past D was too much to bear. She felt her canines sharpen, her eyes flashing dangerously. "Why should you care what happens to the boy? Do you wish to use him against us now you know his true power?" The Dunpeel snarled as she followed.

Regardless of how Deanne felt about this demon she was right. She was not trusted even though she could have very well finished them both during the battle and if not Omen would have. But the change in Tala's voice made D listen. What she meant by hostile encounter D did not know but those words stuck in her mind as a feeling on dread spread throughout her body. Silently she stared at the small vial offered to her for a moment. Either this creature genuinely cared about the rag tag trio or she was up to something. Had she been sent as a taunt by her father? Eventually she took the vial and slid it into an empty bullet slot on her belt. "I don't know what your angle is pup... but what ever. I'll take this offering.Just know this." The half breed stepped closer to Tala, looking her dead in the eyes that dangerous crimson flash back in her eyes. "If you cause there people anymore harm I will see to it that your withered little heart bleeding out in my hands is the last thing you see before you're forever imprisoned in hell." She let Tala pass her and couldn't help the dark chuckle that escaped at her last words. "Tell Laurent daddy's little girl will be seeing him very soon." her words dripped with the same poison they had earlier when she'd spoke of why she was born.

As soon as Tala was gone Deanne returned to the room where Mina was now tightening her robes. "You know Mina, it's a shame you hide yourself away like that. If you don't mind me saying. A girl like you could surely have any man she wanted." D walked over to the slumbering boy and smirked. It was obvious that Mina cared for Alex, just as Deanne had for Gideon all those years ago. "Then again, a priestess probably doesn't concern herself with affairs of the heart." She tilted her hat up so that Mina could properly see her face, which was beautiful yet if one looked closer not perfect. In the marble like flesh of her face there was a scar running down the left side of her face, barely noticeable unless you were looking for it. She had gotten it in the struggle to free herself the night her mother died and it would never heal fully. "I suppose that devil was right about one thing. We all need to move to a safer place."

But her voice gave it away regardless. "I, um, I'm not really supposed to..." Mina trailed off, and D had to finish her thought for her. A priestess probably doesn't concern herself with affairs of the heart. Relationships were not actually forbidden, per se, but they were heavily frowned upon. Any discussion of romance was usually stifled with something along the lines of 'a shrine maiden must share her love for all of mankind, rather than hoard it away for just one person'. Once her original outfit had been restored, she turned slightly to face D. It made her embarrassed to even think it, but D was quite striking herself. She felt mousy next to the bold, edgy gunslinger, but just the thought of going out in a getup like hers was enough to make Mina's cheeks turn red.

Glad for the change of subject, Mina quickly agreed that they needed to move immediately. She glanced down at Alex, still barely conscious on the ground. "Why don't we seek refuge with the villagers again?" she suggested, helping to lift Alex into D's arms. She packed the medicines she had prepared for him, allowing D to carry the boy just as before. It didn't take long for them to reach the settlement, but by the time they got there, most of the townsfolk were already on the move. Mina asked one of them where they were going, learning that they were going to set up camp at the abandoned mall that was just a few blocks ahead. It made sense: the mall was spacious yet hidden, which would make it a safe haven for the survivors. The villager then squinted at her, recognizing her white and red uniform as being similar to, if somewhat looser than, the uniforms that the Templar wore.

"Your friends are helping us fortify the mall," he added, thinking that Mina was one of the Templar.

She gave him a confused look, but the question on her lips was answered before she could ask, when she heard a voice belonging to someone that she hadn't seen in a long time.

"Mina. I wasn't expecting to see you here," said the Teacher in a calm voice, which suggested that he wasn't surprised to see her at all. He was standing at the top of a short staircase that led up to the front doors of the mall.

"Teacher!" Mina exclaimed happily, running to greet the blue-eyed boy immediately. She put her hands together and bowed deeply, as was customary when greeting the Teacher. "I am honored, sir. Oh, but before we talk, there is a young slayer here who needs our assistance," she said, glancing back at D and Alex. She conveniently left out the part where D was a vampire of some sort, and Alex had demonic blood. The boy's eyes met hers, his enigmatic blue pupils betraying no emotion. After a split second, he nodded.

"Come in," he said, gesturing to D that they ought to come inside the mall. "We're getting beds set up right now. Let us find our patient a room." The Teacher led the trio inside the mall, where Templar and villager alike were clearing out debris and turning the mall into a habitable space. Some of them watched curiously as they were lead through the mall, but then quickly averted their gaze when the slayers drew near.

Memories fade into the silence
Haunting me tonight
With hope's last breath I take this moment in
It will be the last
That morning breaks
And sunlight takes the pain away

Luke paused and with his back turned his listened to the supposed teacher's speech. Although he had opinions of demons the leader of the Templars opinion or glorified speech went over the edge a bit. In truth Luke hopped that the scourge of the Earth would disappear one day, but the grounded part of him made his conscience know that the idea may never happen. Suspicion fell around him, but he settled with it because just as the supplies was handed out the idea of moving to a better location was put in motion. Soon humans and Templars were on the move to the local mall. Not in use anymore the building was a perfect place to settle into. It offered protection and shelter to the people, it could be a nice place to live, but not for the young human. Staying settled in one place is something Luke did not quiet enjoy.

Standing at an ledge at the entrance of the mall Luke saw and injured slayer enter with the leader of the Templars. The young female, Mina, seemed joyous at the encounter with him. Luke moved aside so they could get by. He then followed them but only for a bit until he found a stair well. Climbing to the top he was lucky enough to find that it went out to the roof of the establishment. There he watched the sun start to slowly set. A comforting thought to know that something in the world still stayed the same, day after day the sun would still be there to raise and fall.

Ever after never came
And I'm still waiting for a love I'll never have
And all the dreams I lay to rest
Are ghosts that keep me
After all that I've become
I am only one
I'm on my own here
And no one's left to be the hero of
This fairy tale gone wrong
As night will fall my heart will die alone
