STARTING PLOT AND IMPORTANT INFORMATION

This is a fantasy / medieval roleplay.

There are two main races: humans and witches.

Humans have no magic in them, but they can posses magical items. This means no spell-casting.

Witches are not related to the Wican faith. They are a race of humans who posses elemental magic. Each witch can have no more than one branch of magic; earth, air, fire, or water. There are male witches. If a witch casts a spell, it neds to be described in detail.

Other races will be accepted if I feel they will work for the rp. Feel free to ask. I'm perfectly willing to make acceptions.

Three months before the roleplay begins the religious sect in Eaton City discovered a witch practicing her craft in the basement of a townhouse. She was taken into the church, where her powers withered. A witch's elemental powers wane on "holy ground" which are highly energized areas. The witch was tortured and killed, but before she died, she convicted several other witches and gave out secrets, such as coven location. The coven was raided, and many witches died. The remaining witches were forced to split up, some leaving the city, others staying and trying to make it, either by pretending to be regular people or by taking their businesses into hiding, a sort of black market.

Now, the imperial guard, the religious sect, and even some freelance hunters are searching the land for witches, with the promise of reward from the king. Since the witch-purge has begun, a strange plague has come over the land. People die from unknown illnesses and the land seems to be dying. Eaton City is the center of the witch-hunt.

    [size=14]NOTE ABOUT THE SUMMARY

I will try to keep an updated summary of the plot so far. Depending on how much happens with the plot, I will update it every few days. If you are new and don't wish to go through all the posts, please, atleast look over the summary.

SUMMARY

    October 25, 2003, Saturday

Bouia, a young witch who lives in Eaton City, is on her way to visit Master blacksmith Troy Halfallen (NPC). Along the way, she accidently runs into and is knocked over by Brianna, a witch hunter. Brianna doesn't know Bouia is a witch and offers to replace some herb-containers that were broken in the fall. Flare, a bounty witch hunter who is also nearby, offers his own sarcastic opinions about the overly kind medicine woman and the fellow lady. Bouia takes leave of the two and travels down the road and turns down an alley. She starts complaining to herself outloud. Unfortunately, another witch hunter from the church, Nida, was out hunting and overheard Bouia's comments about being a witch. Nida decides to follow Bouia into the next alley and ends up hiding behind a crate. Brianna and Flare argue about following the witch. Finally, Brianna wins out and they walk toward the alley. Nida stays behind the crate, hoping to hit Bouia with a dart when she came through, but thanks to a conveniently placed nest of rats in the crate, Nida freaks out and drops the dart. The sound draws Bouia's attention, and Nida pretends to be a drunk to cover up. Flare and Brianna show up and make matters worse for Nida. Finally, Bouia leaves the "drunk" alone and accepts Flare and Brianna's offer for help. Elsewhere, Clause, a fire witch, is ambling toward the alley.

    October 27, 2003 Monday

Bouia, Flare, and Brianna continued along the street until they reached the smith's shop. Back in the alley, Nida, who is as jumpy as a cat, breaks down crying when another witch (unknown to Nida) Kadevi, shows up and offers to pay for a room and meal for Nida. Nida kindly refuses and points out a good inn to stay at. Clause, the fire witch, spots Flare, Brianna, and Bouia and follows stealthily behind them. At the shop, Bouia bids farewell to her companions and opens to door to leave them. She accidentally uses a witche's greeting and gives herself away to Brianna. Flare doesn't recognize the greeting. Clause, who is listening to the whole thing, silently begs the witch hunters not to take action. Brianna is shocked. She and Flare leave, telling Bouia to watch her back. They go to discuss / argue over their plans. Bouia tucks herself into the building, more scared than she'd ever been before.

    October 29, 2003 Wednesday

Brianna and Flare casually make their way toward the inn they had met Bouia at. The man who wants to take over Brianna's leadership of the witch hunter's organization approaches them. A small conflict occurs between Brianna and the man, ending with them going opposite directions. In the alley, Nida cries and Kadevi talks to her and invites her to dinner. Nida refuses. Kadevi finishes her conversation with Nida. Nida suggests the inn that Brianna and Flare are heading toward and Kadevi happily accepts. Nida promises to meet Kadevi the next morning. Flare and Brianna finally make it to the inn. They enter and wait to be served, talking a little about Brianna's life. Flare, amazingly, shows signs of concern. A waitress who recognizes him singles him out. There is a small, humorous scene where Brianna teases Flare about the waitress (perhaps on page 8 ). Finally, they get down to business and start discussing witch hunting. While all this is going on, Bouia is still calming herself while working on a spell web when Clause knocks on the door. Bouia gets scared, dumps her web, knocks over a stool, twists her ankle, and runs to block the door all in the time span of thirty-seconds. Clause makes it in anyway and gives her a witch's greeting as a sign of peace. They made introductions and Bouia attempts to clean up the mess she just created.

    October 31, 2003 Friday

Alright. Brianna and Flare further discuss plans and sleeping arrangements. Flare refuses Brianna's offer to pay for his room, but leaves his bandana as reassurance that he will return. Owle, another witch, arrives and makes her way to the inn. There, she runs into Kadevi. Both end up hurt and they appologize and depart. Bouia (Mouse) and Clause butt heads over proper care of the old man. Mouse attempts a spell using Clause. The spell backfires. In a juvenile fit, Mouse leaves and Clause gives the man an easier passing. With an injured ankle, Mouse doesn't make it far. Clause catches up and offers to assist her home. She lets him help her and the go back to her home in a cellar. The home is surprisingly warm and friendly. Clause takes care of Mouse's ankle. She offers him supper and a place to stay for the night. While he eats, she goes to bed.

    November 3, 2003 Monday

After everyone has gone to bed for the night, morning feels it has an obligation to show its shining face. Pretty much everyone wakes up. Brianna and Flare meet to have breakfast at the inn. They come to a mutual, but unstated agreement that Brianna should keep and wear his head-scarf. Kadevi and Owle, who had sort of become friends by injuring each other the night before, decide to breakfast together. They come dangerously close to finding out that they're both witches. The presence of witches at the inn sets off Brianna's witch alarm, and makes her start thinking about going back to the hunter's meeting house. Finally, they agree that the safest way to go would be to pretend to be a couple, a statement not too far from the truth. Elsewhere, Jaron, one of the higher members of the imperial guard, prepares a group of men. He has gotten word of a group of witch hunters that needs to be looked into. Also, elsewhere, Nida woke up to a bright new day with yesterday's mishap behind her. Finally, else-elsewhere, and overlapping other events, Mouse woke up to a terrible nightmare about witches dying and Eaton dying. It turns out Clause didn't sleep much at all. They talk, then decide to go to the market, with the promise that Clause would cook, if Bouia paid for the supplies. They start flirting horendously and know each other's life history by the time they make it to the market.

    November 9, 2003 Sunday

All right. I've been gone and there's been a lot to catch up on, so I'll do my best to recount everything by scene. Several of these scenes are overlapping. Let's start with Brianna and Flare. They do their whole little act, pretending to be a couple going to an old warehouse. There, they meet up with the man who is trying to swipe the hunter organization from Brianna. Words are exchanged and the man leaves. Soon after, Jaron, from the imperial guards shows up with a group of men. They are searching for Brianna. Brianna boldly admits that she is who Jaron is looking for. Jaron comments about checking into the organization, and joining in on the witch-hunting fun. Brianna points out her strict rules, and Jaron refuses to adhere. He and his men leave. Brianna and Flare start to talk. Both are upset. Brianna is ready to run off and start the hunt. However, Flare is still ready to talk. It turns out their act isn't quite an act and they're falling in love. Before they can leave though, Randolf shows up, arrogantly asking for work. Both Brianna and Flare respond to his arrogance with a firm no and Randolf leaves. Moving on to the next scene, Kadevi and Owle have spent their time becoming friends. They talk about their pasts and Kadevi realizes she's finally made a friend. Owle even starts to cry over the whole situation. Kadevi realizes that Owle has power. She invites Owle to her room. Kadevi shows Owle her magic, and they both figure the whole magic thing out between them. Moving to our third scene, Mouse and Clause went to the market, flirting all the way. They picked up the neccessary supplies for a meal. Mouse spotted Randolf, and thinking he was poor and needy, she felt sorry for him. Clause detered her and they r eturned to her home, where he started the meal, asking her where things were. Later, Clause went to the bath houses and Mouse got cleaned in a large caldron in her home. Clause returned and they continued talking. Mouse started making an extra matress. Clause went out for a bucket of water, and saw some captured witches. At this point, we find out he has secret motives and he feels bad for taking advantage of Mouse. He returns and cleans up after the whole cooking ordeal.

    November 11, 2003 Tuesday

Owle leaves Kadevi to eat breakfast alone, and Nida arrives around noon. Nida and Kadevi meet and exchange greetings. Owle comes back downstairs and sees Nida and Kadevi. She is wary, but approaches anyway. Brianna and Flare wait to order at the Wayward Smile . They talk about love and how they really feel toward each other. Brianna admits he could probably find other pretty women because he is handsome, but he points out his scars to deny it. They are both softening and warming up to each other. Jaron walks around and realizes he hasn't eaten, so he stops by the Wayward Smile to eat. Finally, Mouse decides she needs to go back to the market for straw. Clause agrees to go with her and they get straw from a farmer. They decide to go through the warehouse district as a scenic route and pass by Brianna's hideout with no one the smarter for it.

    November 15, 2003 Saturday

Jaron enters the Wayward Smile to eat. Brianna and Flare see him, remember him, and decide it is deffinately time to leave. They quickly finish eating and leave their money on the table before making a hasty exit. Jaron sees and remembers them, but decides his stomach is more important. He decides he will find them later. Kadevi and Nida talk about languages and Nida accidentally catches a glimpse of Brianna and Flare, the two that had thwarted her plans the night before. Owle is still upstairs. No more progress has been made between Mouse and Clause because neither has been online.

    November 18, 2003 Tuesday

Brianna and Flare are still at the serious flirting. After leaving, they decide they need to get a cap for Brianna's spear. They consider where to go and make a decision to go with the simplest, quickest measure. Owle is still up in her room... all alone. Kadevi and Nida are still talking. Nida turnes into a Bible thumper and invites Kadevi to the church in hopes of converting her. Kadevi tries to figure out why Nida and everyone else hates witches. Jaron listens to the conversation. A new character, Lucas, wanders around the warehouse district, lost and looking for the Wayward Smile. He runs into Clause and Mouse. No progress between Clause and Mouse. Clause is still missing.

    November 21, 2003 Friday

While on their way to get the cap, Flare and Brianna see a dress store and decide, on a whim, to go get a dress for Brianna. It is a wholely delightful scene with a pushy seemstress and a bit of humor. Brianna stuns Flare. And he plays it off by making comments and making her angry. In the end, he, too, chooses to get a new set of clothes, so he won't look like a street punk next to her. Nida finally leaves, giving the inn-keeper money to pay for an extra night. Kadevi, under Jaron's watchful gaze, goes back ustairs. Finally, Owle comes out and meets up with Kadevi. Clause and Mouse, after discussing how she treats herself, fall silent. Mouse realizes she likes this man a great deal. She spots the old man, Lucas, and goes to ask if he needs assistance. She realizes he is a witch.

    December 7, 2003 Sunday

(I appologize for not updating the summary for a while. I've been having guy problems and haven't been very attentive.) Flare and Brianna decide to go to one of two black smiths to get the cap for their weapon. They realize, though that one of them is Master Halfallen, the smith who had died. They go to the other one. The man almost turns them away. Kadevi and Owle make their way out of the inn and talk. Clause, Mouse, and Lucas head back toward Mouse's home. Then Clause leaves to the inn.

    December 8, 2003 Monday

Brianna is overly excited about hunting. She is obsessive and Flare sees this as negative. Kadevi and Owle continue walking. Clause is hot on their trail. However, Jaron happens to be nearby and follows as well. Mouse takes care of the dying Lucas, offering him soup in her cellar home. Nida is currently unheard from.

    December 10, 2003 Wednesday

Brianna and Flare take a moment to rest in each other's arms. Both think hard about whether or not hunting Bouia is right. Brianna is addament, but she shows her worry over the situation. The witches they had encountered had all be offensive or involved in a little lie called "self-defense." Kadevi and Owle walk. Clause follows behind them, but Jaron, who is also following them, gets to them first and stops them to talk. Clause sends mental messages to see that Kadevi and Owle are okay. They are fine for the moment, so he hides in an alley and waits to talk to them. Kadevi and Owle know there is something wrong with Jaron's talking to them, though he tries to act as if he is only showing interest in Kadevi. Lucas lays in Mouse's bed and declines her offer of soup. He asks about her limp, and she explains her run-in with the chair at the smithies. It seems Mouse is left to tend the ill an awful lot. She puts the soup on the table and continues her work with the new matress. No doubt she will be needing it. Nida, in tradition and not wanting to leave her out, is still around, but is unable to post.

    December 12, 2003 Friday

While Clause is hiding in the alley with a fire arrow in his hand, Cat, a human who sides with the witches, recognizes his power through the use of a locket she was given. She comes up behind him and scares him. He manages to drop his fire arrow, giving away his position. What does he do? He grabs Cat and runs out of the alley. Kadevi and Owle, seeing that their cover is broken, run after Cat and Clause. Jaron starts in on the chase. Elsewhere, Brianna and Flare realize something is horribly wrong and start running toward the area. The witches on the run start to use their magic to defend themselves. Clause, who is already sorely depleated, makes one finaly attack, before just about passing out. Owle prevents Jaron from nearing them by asking for the wind's help. Kadevi helps heal Clause. Jaron falls and Cat separates herself and holds a bow on Jaron until the others escape. With Mouse, Lucas works on a concoction, absent-mindedly leaving dangerous vials near the edge of the bed. It is a nervewracking moment. Finally, Clause, Kadevi, and Owle make it back to Mouse's house and greetings happen. Cat runs into an alley. Flare and Brianna make it to where Jaron is and Brianna suggests that three hunters are better than one, especially against so many witches.

    December 14, 2003 Sunday

Clause, Kadevi, and Owle make it to Mouse's house and rush in, slamming the door behind them. Mouse is protective of her home. Cat, who made a run for it, shows up in Mouse's alley and knocks on the door. All the witches think its a hunter and freak out, except for Lucas who is too senile to realize anything is wrong. Lucas does a healing spell which restores everyone. Mouse manages to ignore Owle, like everyone else seems to do, and she goes to answer the door. Mouse goes into the alley and does a very powerful earth spell she's never tried before, and half fails.

    December 15, 2003 Monday

When Mouse attempts her spell, she makes some pretty good sized cracks in the earth, but not large-enough to really stop the hunters. It disturbs the earth, and those in Mouse's house feel it. Clause runs out to yell at her for making enough comotion to draw the hunters. He finds her lying against the wall, drained. He carries her back in and then goes back outside. Kadevi heals Mouse, but neglects herself. Clause yells when he sees hunters trying to get over the small gap. Mouse runs after Clause. Kadevi follows. Owle follows. Lucas and Cat are stored in Mouse's house until after the fight. Outside, Brianna, Flare, and Jaron are considering getting over the gap. A young earth witch, Annwn, runs toward the fray. She hides in the shadows. There is much banter between the hunters and the witches as each group tries to explain its position to the other. Brianna is confused. Flare is steadfast. Jaron is starting to reconsider his allegiance. Clause is ready to kick butt. Kadevi would like to run, but she refuses. Mouse tries to avoid confrontation. Somehow, the idea of Brianna being a witch gets broached. The cause of witch sickness is broached. After much talk-- MUCH-- Mouse does the most obsurd thing. She walks away. Somehow, this disolves the confrontation. Clause follows. Kadevi stays a moment and confronts Jaron across the hole in the ground. Mouse and Clause go downstairs. The young earth witch goes into hiding, waiting for Mouse to come out. The hunters ready to disperse. Down in Mouse's cellar, Mouse talks of leaving, after adamently refusing to do so earlier. She sends Clause to rent a cart and horse. She starts packing. She appologizes to Cat. Annwn waits still. Kadevi is still above ground. Finally, Mouse stops packing and goes up to check on Kadevi and the other witch, Annwn. The hunters talk of retiring back to the inn.

    December 17, 2003 Wednesday

Above ground, Mouse spots the new witch, Annwn, and invites her in. While she is up there, she asks Kadevi and Owle to come in too. Kadevi excuses herself from Jaron and the group heads downstairs. Mouse, being the first to the stairs, hears the pot boiling over and runs to take care of the problem. She makes a huge mess. As the others come downstairs, Kadevi faints and almost falls down the stairs, but is saved by Owle. Mouse condemns Kadevi to the matress and asks the others for help packing. Clause is out obtaining a cart. Brianna, Jaron, and Flare discuss where to stay for the night. Brianna is unbelievably irked about the idea she might be a witch. She spent years hunting and killing witches, and now she might be one. Drama and horror. And while we're at it-- drama, horror, and clumbsiness.

    December 21, 2003 Sunday

Mouse asks for help toting stuff upstairs. Kadevi, after resting a while, decides to help. Mouse asks what sort of training they all have. When Kadevi finds out Annwn has had no training, she takes the girl aside and starts a lesson. Clause shows up with the cart and they start loading the cart. Cat cuts her arm and Mouse takes her downstairs to clean the wound up. The packing continues. Mouse comes back up. Then, added in here, Lucas dies. Elsewhere, Brianna, Jaron, and Flare get their two rooms. Jaron admits his mother was a witch. This does not help matter. Brianna is still disturbed by thoughts that she could be a witch. Flare tells her that witches lie and would do anything to make all the gifts of the world seem like they came from their spout of evil. Brianna isn't sure she can go back after the witches now.

    December 25, 2003 Thursday

In the bedroom, Flare tries to find himself. He watches out the window. Jaron suggests that maybe the witches are trying to be good, but Flare stands firmly resolved in his opinions. Jaron is banished from the room for the nigh. Flare is afraid Brianna won't accept him. She does the exact opposite and offers him a token of her devotion, a necklace. It is a very personal, touching scene in which the two bond. Flare doesn't know what he'll do if Brianna is a witch. They try to go to bed. At Mouse's house, when Lucas dies, Cat passes out. Mouse comes back down stairs and sees the whole mess. She screams for Clause and Kadevi, the first two to come to her mind. (Because of an absense of a player, Clause does not react.) Kadevi's trance is broken and she runs downstairs and sees Lucas dead.

    December 18, 2003 Sunday

Flare and Brianna curl up in a corner. Nighty night. Jaron goes downstairs and gets drunk, then listens to stories about him fighting five witches singlehanded. Then he drunkenly goes upstairs to bed. A new character enters the scene, Terrant, Lucas's son who works for the church. Terrant is a the first real villain in the story. He hears about tales of witches and decides to go out hunting, with his henchmen, the twins. They mount up and head toward the Wayward Smile. Annwn is stuck in the alternate place because Kadevi left her there alone. She's fine with it though. Mouse sees the scene, calls for Kadevi and Clause and faints. Kadevi comes and sees everything and calls for Clause. Mouse wakes up and they investigate. Mouse touches Lucas... Yep, he's dead. Cat wakes up. Her amulet obsorbed Lucas's esscense.

    January 2, 2004 Friday

Flare, Brianna, and Jaron are still sleeping. Terrant makes his way to the Wayward Smile and talks to the keeper to try to learn where Jaron might be. He gets little information and leaves the inn, still searching. When Kadevi goes upstairs, she sees Annwn sitting there. She realized Annwn was left in the alternate world and teaches her how to get out of it. She is becoming Annwn's official trainer. They are finally preparing to leave.

    January 12, 2004 Monday

This weekend, Miss Nutty had a wonderful time at the MO State Thespian Conference. She only briefly looked over all the posts that accumulated in her absences and the following is the brief summary. Flare and Brianna wake up. Jaron mentions his dream. They decide to get breakfast before going out hunting. Jaron objects to the term hunting. Flare gives a cold explanation. The witches climb into the cart. Its morning. A neclace is revealed and a crystal dagger leaves its mark.

    March 8, 2004 Monday

The witches make it to the farm at the edge of the city. Most of them wake up, but Cat is so tired, she falls out of the wagon. With the hunters, they decide to go after the witches. They stop by Mouse's house to look for clues and find a happy, dead body. After reading Mouse's note, Brianna decides has feelings that she needs to go toward the country, and decides they can bury the body respectably.

    April 29, 2004 Thursday

Terrant has met with the hunters, and as he leaves, he feels suspicious about Minn. The hunters... further prepare. The witches arrive and start taking care of business. Mouse and Clause talk to Master Leakwood, owner of the farm. Clause decides to leave the group. Annwn and Mouse both try to stop him.
