Ausden City



The population of Ausden City has been growing ever since the turn of the industrial revolution. But, with a growth in population, some citizens and politicians feel the city should do some expanding of its own. The issue with the expansion is that Ausden is surrounded on all sides by the lush and mysterious Choiva Forest. Though technology exists to build the city up (instead of increasing its footprint) some still push to enter into the forest, obviously causing an uproar with its current inhabitants: elves, faeires, and the like.

Choiva Forest


Choiva Forest has politicians of its own. "The Senate" was established hundreds of years ago and is composed of the strongest forest creatures. Their goal is to maintain the forest. Once human settlers arrived, a basic trade route was established. Some forest creatures live in town, but since many view humans as intruders, not many humans live outside of Ausden's walls.

Will the city build up or out? I guess that all depends on the power of the people and creatures involved…

Biography: Aileen moved to Ausden with her parents and younger brother as a young child. She quickly grew fascinated with the forest and became rather attached to some of the forest creatures. As time progressed, Aileen quickly learned of the discrimination between humans and creatures and she swore to bridge the divide. Aileen has been studying witchcraft in hopes that she will mend what the humans have broken. She moved into a small cottage in Choiva where she lives alone, aiming to be nearer the forest folk. Aileen had a few dark years where she mutilated her own ears to demonstrate that she is not ashamed to be like the creatures of the forest. Practicing magic further substantiates her belief.

Biography: Kumori was born in opposition of the humans. She was born with an elemental mother, from whom she gained her power and a human father. Her father was one of the few who was strongly wanted to keep from expanding into the forest. He died some time later with her mother in an accident. Kumo never thought much of this though. She was taught the ways of the forest, of the balance between life and death from a young age. Living by herself, she watches over the people who dwell near the edge of the forest. Ever since her parent's death, the young girl only hopes to find peace between the forest people and the City of Ausden.

Biography: Garthneth lived in the lush and mysterious Choiva Forest. How she loved her home there. As she was becoming an adult she was ready to start her own adventure. She kissed her mother and father so long and made her way to begin her life. She was thinking about Ausden City which was just outside the forest edge.

Being a curious child, she sometimes wondered to the edge of the forest to watch the humans. They we're interesting creatures but so fragile. But their leaders we're cold and uncaring and wanted to take over the forest to expand their city. The Forest was all she knew all the living creatures were her family.

She couldn't imagine the trees being cut down and their spirit killed. All so the human leaders could have more land. She hoped they could come to an agreement and keep the forest as is. They could learn to live like Elves do live with the Earth. Her family house was made from moss and twigs that the Goddess provided for them.

If the humans could learn to use what is provided they would live such a happier life. But it wasn't her place to tell them so, they must learn on their own. She knew Elves weren't the only ones that lived in the forest, faeries, and the like lived there too. If the humans took over where would they all live. Why should they adapt when they lived in the forest a lot longer then the humans.

Biography: Cole grew up in Ausden City with his very wealthy Father and Mother. His Father was a politician who was after making the city bigger, he was cold and ruthless. But some how always managed to get voted into power. Cole was raised to believe that the forest creatures were savages and needed to be taught the new world ways. He was a little discriminating against the forest creatures but it was how he was raised.

He like many other's on his father side believed the town should grow wider not taller. He had never set foot in the forest to find out just how beautiful and breath taking it really was. He had only stories his Father told him about the savages. He now lived on his own looking to get elected and help his Father and his team win and take over the forest. Only time can tell weather he sides with his Father or the forest.

Biography: His father a contractor and mother a nature's rights activist, he has brought up to believe there is a balance in the world that should never be tampered with. All his life he has studied mystics and mechanics to find the balance between them, but unfortunately he hasn't made much progress. However he came across a book telling of a giant that lives in the forest and commune with a life, a powerful being like that should hold the answers he seeks. Against his better judgement he set off for Choiva Forest, where the ancient beast sleeps.

Biography: Dylan always had issues with his parents. When Aileen finally stood up to them and left, he realized how interesting the forest was and for about two years, he thought about going there. As he grew older, Dylan decided it was time to leave. Since Dylan didn't have much money at the moment, and Aileen was the only family Dylan had in town (apart from their parents), Dylan moved in with Aileen. If he wanted t
o leave town, the only way Dylan would be able to get anywhere was through the forest. So basically, Dylan was trapped. He couldn't afford a skyship ticket either.

Biography: Suri was born to a small baker's family. Her life has always been in the city of Ausden, although she'd always been curious about the forest. Not enough to have ever ventured out, but enough to stare out at it every night. She's happy and mischievous, finding harmless trouble in every corner of the city. As far as the expansion, Suri doesn't have a side that she's on.

Biography: One of the senators to Choiva, Nick Woe Nakotne is known highly as a loving and respectful man who earned his senator title. Along with his role, he is an amazing elementalist, which he learned from his master, Master Oari who was also known for being a inventor in agricultural inventions which made him highly respected by the creatures of the forest, and a master elementalist himself which he taught Nick over his younger life. Oari was a great senator who did everything in his power to protect the forest and the creatures that lived in it. Now being a very old man and had taught Nick everything, Nick has stepped up his role as a leader with more then just being a very assertive congressman behind pen and pencil, he has led many moves against the humans and there push deep into the forest secretly when it came to last resorts. The city and higher authority members that reside there have a deep hatred for Nick and in secrecy, they attempt to have him destroyed in anyway possible which keeps Nick in hiding alot. But, no matter the situation, he finds himself enjoying his job very much.

Biography: Taya like most of her race was born Ausden. She is the youngest of three children, one boy and two girls. The oldest is her brother Jasiah, and then her sister Lyric. Her brother already has a family, a wife and a son. Taya is the most curious of her siblings. This sometimes gets her into trouble, though most of the time she can get herself out of it. Her parents fear that she will end up following a new "friend" far from home.

Veronica (Roni) Greys

Biography: Roni was a small infant when she was kidnapped, athough in the beginning she was just supposed to be a small act, a side show for those humans who lived in the big city and had the houses where no other species could live. When she began to cry her kidnapper learned that she had gotten a special child, whose tears that were black like ink and burned her face could heal others. Monti collected these, and sold them, claiming that they were her special elixir made from only the best herbs. Roni grew up with her kidnapper, believing that this was her mother and knowing that if she ever questioned it she would be punished. The price for running away had been the lower part of her left arm, lost in what was claimed an "accident" that only left the elbow stump. She stays in the back of the small wagon, only coming out on rare occasions and making sure that her "Mother" Had enough to sell.

Biography: Monti is a woman who would sell her mother if it would make her rich. She found her riches when a traveling couple came to stay in the same inn she was visiting. Their child wasnt old enough to know the danger, and wasnt so young that it would be too much of a hassle. Although Monti raised the girl, if it means getting gold in her pocket she will do anything. Veronica isnt her child. She buys many potions to keep her youth though, and relies heavily on Veronica as her prime means of financial support for now.

Biography: Kayla is only about one foot tall, naturally. She is a perfect example of why the townsfolk have a natural fear of Choiva. Strongest at night, Kayla has the power to manipulate and control water. Temperature, density, location... Kayla manifests in puddles and ponds, so if there is an abundant source of water, she can grow to any height she chooses. She has a habit of tormenting others for shear enjoyment, but she has also taken an interest in some human qualities. So far that interest hasn't outweighed her need to torture...

Biography: Grey was born in Choiva Forest and had happily lived there his whole life. He recently lost his wife when she sneaked out to Ausden City and had never returned. Grey couldn't imagine life anywhere away from the forest. Everything that life could provide was in that forest and he doesn't want the forest to change.

Biography:


It is really unsure of what Critter is. He is the only one of his kind and he has never needed a name because he had spent his whole life in the forest. He did not live with a pack wolves, but he did watch them from afar. They inspired him to cut a mask of wood and bark and live as one- on the ground, howling at the moon, living by the stars and hunting the weak. But the wolves never accepted him as one of their own. He even made a garb to imitate their furs, staining it with green, red, blue and purple berries.

Critter is incredibly resourceful and intellectual.
He has been known to solve advanced picture-based problems and carve wood using only a rock. He has learned to make his own garbs and can learn things just by observation. He is adept at running, jumping, making dog-like noises and hunting food.

Critter is a curious fellow in both senses of the word. He is always wanting to learn and try new things, be it a new food or touching someone's new hair. He likes to smell and taste things, even if they're unedible. He is almost child-like in his sense of wonder. He does get startled by unfamiliar situations or sudden loud noises and will hide under his cloak. He removes his mask when he's interacting with something. He doesn't seem to trust anyone for a long time though, and he won't go into buildings.

He is also perplexing. He is extremely mysterious, having built a den somewhere in the city. He doesn't really talk at all, preferring to make animalistic noises and hang around dogs. Canine furries he gets along well with. He doesn't like humans at all and will become violent if he is approached by one.

He is also a pack rat. Many people call him a thief because he's always tucking something away. He doesn't know what money is and doesn't really care if what he wants belongs to someone else. He always tries to leave a present behind for them, though. A pie on the windowsill is a fair trade for three buttons, right? His weakness is food. Even a human could touch him if he was given something to eat. He is stupid when it comes to food and will turn his back on his friends if he gets to put stuff in his mouth.

The Concept of Love

Jerome

Gender: Male
Biography: Jerome was captured with the other elves because he was trying to protect his beloved. He used to be a vicious rogue who lived on his own at the edge of the village. While not allied with them, he would tip the guards off when the village officials were coming...just to throw them off of HIS scent while he robbed the village.

However, he did have a lover (Charlotte). When they were captured, he put up the most resistance and almost escaped when Lyna and Hanson came back for them. When the humans caught hims again, they punished him by killing his beloved before his eyes. Worse than that, they only feed him a gruel made of her rotting carcass.

He flew into a rage and when he could feel no more anger, he fantasized a world where she was alive again, leaving his husk of a body to mumble in his cell.

These days he doesn't make a lot of sense and screams arbitrarty things. He is almost vicious when it comes to conversation and he's happy to kill and eat anything raw.

Biography: No one really knows where Lilith came from. Or how old she is. But she's a contracted killer. As well as a serial one. Well known in the underground, her secretive nature lets only very few normal citizens of both the forest and city know about her existence.

Forest Adventure Trio
Aileen{witch}, Kumori{elemental}, and Garthneth{elf} meet for the first time just outside of Ausden City. Quickly becoming friends, they decide to take a daring trip into town, where magical beings are not usually welcome. Dylan{Aileen's younger brother} meets Taya{fairy} and they get to know each other better in a bakery. Meanwhile, the gang gets their first glimps of Cole{human}[well, most of them], whose father is a powerful, rich man determined to expand Ausden City into Choiva forest no matter the cost.

As the trio are buying elixer from a peddler named Monti, Cole comes and spews stuck up, anger all over the place. He tries to hassle Monti out of a few sales, but Aileen shuts him down. It isn't hard to get rid of him and he goes storming off to his home. Garthneth discovers an Elf lady[Veronica or Roni] she believes was kidnapped 18 years ago from the elf community.

In an attempt to get back at Aileen for embarassing him, Cole and his father hatch a plan. A terrible evil plan to convince the gang that he's on their side. It seems to be working too. His father's goons beat him up and he's saved by Kumori. They end up out in the forest with Garthneth as they wait for Aileen to join them. Upon leaving the town, Aileen pours some magenta liquid into the gutter.

What will the group do about the possibly kidnapped Roni? Will Cole succeed in his dastardly plans? What is the purpose of the magenta potion?

Aileen and the gang are about to get Cole to shelter as it's getting late when a Kayla{vicious Water Faerie} shows up, talking about eating the human boy. Oh no! But Kumori blows her away and Garthneth shoots her wings with arrows as she is blown away. The villain is defeated! However, Kumori needs rest and they stop by a river to rest up a little and clean up for a moment. Cole declares that his father is wrong and seems to be developing strong feelings for Kumori. Suddenly, Nick shows up and declares he must speak with Kumori.

After the trio (plus drugged-up Cole) was attacked by a vicious water faerie {Kayla}, Aileen got to the safety of her own home. Before going to sleep, she had a quick glance at her freshly created waterways map, the fruit of the potion she dumped in the gutter that day. Upon awakening, Aileen noticed that Dylan hadn’t returned home. She was visited by an old friend, Grey {elf} and they reminisced over the disappearance of their partners Hanson and Lyna. Kumo arrived to check on Aileen and stayed for breakfast before returning to Nick. Grey presented Aileen with a pendant that Lyna left behind when she disappeared. After casting a spell, a message recorded by Lyna told Aileen and Grey that their tribe was being held captive by some humans deep in the forest and Lyna and Hanson intended to free them.

❀Kayla dramatically takes Roni, learning the amount of pain she can put the girl through. As Aileen and Grey prepare to rescue their friends, Critter {unusual forest creature} arrives, entangled in a rope. Aileen feeds and frees him. What is this creature's purpose? Will it further delay rescuing Lyna and Hanson?

The Mostly Humans
At the same time, just outside of Ausden City, Name{human} is about to set on his quest when he meets Suri{human}, and Mae{bunny creature} who end up joining him. His quest is to wake an old giant who can answer a question he hasn't been able to get an answer to. But first, they have to consult an Elder Frog who is in the city in the Bramble Tavern.

Will they be able to find the Elder Frog to get on the path to the Sleeping Giant?

It's been a frustrating search, but Name, Suri and Mae find a hidden room in the building BRAMBLE[[Which turns out to be an acronym, not the literal name of the tavern]]. It holds the hidden tavern behind a mirror in a dressing room. While there they continue their search for the Elder Frog and Suri finds him! But Name is busy and she freezes like a deer in headlights.

Name, Suri, and Mae find the Elder frog. He's a little lecherous but tells a fantastic story about how the Giant came to be sleeping. He can be found in the deepest part of the forest. The trio was wondering how they could ever possibly find this place when the necklace Name gave Suri begins to show a direction on the compass like pendant. Is this how they find the giant? Will it be the desparately needed salvation the Elder Frog claims it is??

❀ The now pair of adventurers finds the tunnels leading deep down into the Earth. Back at the tavern, though, it seems the Elder Frog has set the pair up to settle his own debts. Back to the pair. It seems another force is standing in their way. They must solve a riddle["two half's must be as one, for the spell to be undone". After all is said and done, the door will open for the purest one"] to enter into the Holy Grounds which precede where the Giant rests. They figure it out and the door opens. Will there be an unpleasant surprise waiting for them? Can they finally get to the giant?

And the Senate
Not to forget! The Senate{forest council}'s leader Nick{demon} takes Kumo, Garthneth and Cole into his home for the evening and reveals his plan to Kumo about how to delay the humans from destroying what they've started to in the Elf community. They must find and kill an administrator from that section of the plann. However, they must find out tonight or the forest is in a lot of danger and they'll have run out of time. Can they keep this plan secret and still get it done? Will they find the administrator and stall to buy a little more time for a solution to be found?

❀ Nick and Kumori decide to enjoy the silence before the storm, but what they didn't realize was trouble was closer than they thought! They are brought into an assault being launched on the elven kingdom, with the elves already taking heavy losses. With their combined abilities, they barely manage to take out the machines and mercenaries as Kumo almost dies. Should the Senate be preparing for war? Can Nick keep this emotional ticking bomb from going off??

The Encampment
❀ Lyna and Jerome are shown, enslaved with many other elves, mining for precious stones in soft tunnels. They do not know why. We found out that Jerome's love (Charlotte) was brutally murdered and fed to him over the last few years. In shock from their living conditions, Lyna has lost the ability to speak, but is still readily able to communicate with her slightly lunatic friend Jerome. Lyna and Jerome catch a glimpse of the spell that Aileen and Grey cast - and Lyna knows Grey has heard the message. Will these two be rescued before it's too late?

Aileen Hart


The inside of the cabin was dark, regardless of the midday sun. Stereotypically stirring in her cauldron, Aileen took an empty bottle from the cobweb-infested shelf and dunked it into the magenta fluid, capping it with a cork. She half-heartedly placed the filled bottle back on the shelf, next to the one with a decaying monkey eyeball in it.

As the fire beneath the cauldron turned to embers, she emptied the remaining volume of smoking liquid into a flask. Once the cap was appropriately closed, she slung the flask over her shoulder and made for the door. When she gripped the ornate wooden handle in one hand, she looked back quickly to ensure everything was in its proper place. With a blink and a nod, she exited the cabin, entreing into the forest in the direction of town.

Aileen adjusted her hat to keep the bright sun out of her eyes. As usual, and despite the great trees, she could see the skyline on the horizon. There was no need for her to live senselessly deep in the woods. That distance from town would not be safe for a human, even one weilding magic such as herself.

Kumori~ Wind Master


Kumori Arai's eyes slowly opened. The soft breeze kissed her face as she looked up at the bright sunshine, filtering through the lush branches. Sitting up, she looked around and felt the silky grass beneath her hands. Today is going to be a good day. She thought as she stood up. The forest seemed to be in good spirits. The town wasn't making more than it's usual noise today. Scents of fresh bread, and humans bustling around the town filled her nose as she began her usual stroll.

Lifting her hand gently, she started a small breeze, smiling as she watched the pollen from the wildflowers carry across the forest. This would ensure more gorgeous flowers growing here. This magical place was always her home. She loved this place. Looking up, she heard noises coming from up ahead. Probably the witch. She lived close to the edge of the forest. The girl was nice. She'd watched her from afar but had never introduced herself for fear of frightening the young mage.

Today is a good day. She repeated in her mind. Walking closer, she let herself seen to the girl. She didn't want to appear threatening. Only curious. Lifting her hand, she gave a soft smile and moved a little closer. "Hello." She said gently.

"curiosity killed the...rabbit?"

It was the same every afternoon. Mae Hareo would loiter around the local Chovia farming fields, drooling at the succulent looking vegetables--especially the carrots! As a usugimimi, the young woman's diet consisted mainly of veggies.

Wiping the remnants of drool from her chin, the petite girl gave a hopeless sigh and decided it was time to continue on her daily stroll through the forest surrounded town. Boot covered feet crunched noisily against the dirt paths, a slight skip in their step, 'Wonder where I should explore today~' Mae pondered, her white rabbit ears twitching in thought.

After a moment of thinking, Mae decided she would head to the lake which lingered near the towns entrance. Maybe she could see some pretty fish today~

OOC: I forgot to write in a name, so I'm just gonna go with it. xP

Name walked down the endless dirt road to where the toad bartender told him to go, "okay, so round this corner should be where the marker is" he replied while readjusting the white backpack slung over his shoulder. He hadn't planned on be away for this long, but he figured he might as well carry some supplies for emergencies.

As he kept walking he spotted a small lake just by the edge of town "good, maybe I should refill my canteen before I go any further" he replied. He stepped over to the waters edge and dropped his open container into the cool refreshing waters, as he looked about he noticed the peaceful calming serenity this place had about it and wondered why anybody would want to destroy it.

Suri Astowich

Suri panted as she ran down the cobblestone street. Taking a brief glance behind her, she let out a loud, light laughter. This morning, Suri had challenged her friends to a race, and without waiting for them to agree, had begun sprinting out towards the entrance of the town. That's where the finish line always was. She had been bored all morning, helping her mother in the bakery. She was an early riser. Always had been and always would be. Today was a beautiful day. The sun was out and shining and she was the happiest she'd ever been in her life. The clouds were white and fluffy and they were making endless shapes and stories.

So caught up in her thoughts, Suri forgot to look where she was going. Without realizing it, she was out through the gates and heading straight for the lake. Looking back down at the path ahead of her, her heart jumped into her throat as she ran straight into some young man filling his canteen. Squealing in panic, the young spirited girl groaned as she righted herself into a sitting position at the edge of the lake. "Sorry!" She exclaimed as she quickly assumed a kneeling position and bowed to the other person.
