When the storm started, Henley had become terrified. She didn't enjoy storms and combining that with rocking of the water caused her to hyperventilate. She didn't focus on the small room she was in. Only on the fear and the storm. She screamed when the boat rocked too hard back and forth, causing her to fall from her small cot and on to the ground below her. Just as she regained her balance, the boat jerked once more in the direction of the wall, causing her to gasp, stumble and raise her arms to catch herself against the unforgiving wood. She didn't know what happened after that. Darkness enveloped her.
"Henley? Henley, baby, wake up. You're sleeping in too late."
"Mom."
Henley's eyes flicked open to the bright sunlight. She tried to bring her right arm up to cover her face but found the limb useless. Instead, she used her left arm to block the harsh sunlight. Over the sound of the waves, she could vaguely hear voices. The cold water which had just last night been tormenting the girls and the crew now licked at her bare feet. She used her left arm to sit herself up and sighed. Her entire body was sore, her throat felt as though someone had scrubbed it with glass, and her mind was becoming aware of the pain in her right arm. As she stood, stumbling around the sand, she became more and more aware of someone calling out for others and the others responding. Out of the corner of her eye, Henley saw someone in the air, waving at the others. She fell from the sky with a scream. Henley tried raising both of her arms to form a bowl of sand under her but only bit back a cry of pain when her right arm refused to comply with her and screamed agony at her. She glanced down at the limb and went wide eyed.
Not only was her forearm black and blue from a massive bruise forming along the top of her forearm and the outer side of it, but a large splinter from the ship was burrowed under her skin.
"I shouldn't take that out. Not here, not without any kind of supplies to stop the bleeding." Instead of focusing on that she made her way over to the girl who had fallen behind the treeline.
"Hey, hey. Slow your breathing. You're only going to be in more trouble if you keep breathing like this." As she approached Aria, she held her left hand up to show she wasn't there to hurt her. Tears burned her eyes as pain started to flood the entire right side of her body. Henley offered a gentle smile as she knelt down next to her.
"It'll be alright. Want to help me get to the others?"
