Divona Arethina
The Chubby Chocolate Southern Loli Demon

Divona had watched Cyneward's attack on the strange creature, feeling a bit impressed as he knocked the man down although she noticed no blood in the flickering flamelight from the wound that the young knight had doubtless inflicted on it. Frowning a little she continued to watch the scene unfold, the massive strifesworn that had been hulking near the man like some sort of monstrous bodyguard had turned on Cyneward and grappled him, disarming him as he struggled against it, and in the wavering light the demon could see a horrible third eye upon the unknown creatures brow which he turned on the knight. An awful shudder ran down Divona's spine as she looked at the thing, there was something horribly wrong with it, she needed to help Cyneward and quickly, that thing was doing something to him. However as it seemed some of his last ounces of strength were leaving him, the young man managed to fire his crossbow bracer haphazardly at the man, the bolt, by some miracle, penetrating the third eye and stopping whatever it had been doing. The fact the creature still lived through being shot in the head frightened Divona quite a lot to be honest, but she had to hold together, still uncertain what to do she watched as the strange man began a retreat though the massive strifesworn still held Cyneward in it's grasp. As the thing left he called out at the knight, flames suddenly erupting along the body of the monster that held him, making the demons eyes widen in shock and dismay. "Get off him ya beast!" the woman shouted as she tossed aside her weapon and charged at the strifesworn that held Cyneward, coming at it at a slight angle that would throw them toward the water she threw her bulk at the monster. Though she was short, her weight was considerable, at around 200 lbs her body coming at a decent speed was certainly a force to be reckoned with, perhaps even for the large strifesworn as it likely didn't expect the attack. If she managed to knock the beast over, the three would topple over off the docks and into the water below. It was a very crazy thing to do, especially considering the thing was on fire, but well, she was a very crazy person at times, and it was the best she could come up with, not being very good at fighting yet. As she came at the thing she hoped desperately that these magical flames were not water proof, though at least even then it might release Cyneward in surprise, of course she was risking burning herself here, but perhaps she'd manage to knock it over quickly enough to keep contact minimal until they hit the water, or that's what she told herself anyway.

Fire. Fire!

It twists in strong arms. It can not leave. It will burn.

Who?

It comes from behind. No balance. Grabbing at soft brown flesh with two burning claws. Falling?

Falling. Something wet and dark.

Cold. Cold. No breath. No fire.

The brown flesh thing is moving up, up. Into light.

No!

Grab its heels. Pull it down. Sink. Sink together.

So dark and cold now.

~ Vowe Ezitore ~

~ The Veteran Assassin ~

"Apprendista, don't look now, but I believe we've found our target. I warn you, this one will be tricky. A vampire. Fortunately, I was able to find a thing or two out about her personality. Allow me to approach her first, then you may strike. And no, you won't need a wooden stake. Or garlic, for that matter." Vowe told the younger apprentice before hopping along the side of the building, hopping from rooftop to rooftop before they began to reach the marketplace. Indeed, the conflict they were leaving behind and turning a blind eye to was nothing short of horrific, but it did not concern them, for their role lay elsewhere. Not only that, but Vowe had seen this sort of thing before, and he was mindful to get Marsh away from it as soon as possible, first he took no pride in the path he had caused her to choose, and still wished to subject her to as little death as possible. Second, the girl seemed to have no problem with it. Death fascinated her almost, and it was something Vowe was mindful of. He only hoped she didn't acquire a taste for it - lest things would get out of hand.

Entering the market district, which was now almost empty, the two of them caught up with a lone woman wearing a rather expensive looking red dress. Vowe raised his hand silently, signalling for his apprentice to wait for now. Moving on ahead he overtook their target, hopping down into an alleyway and casually stepping out a ways infront of her, calmly approaching the woman. She was one of multiple vampires on his and Marsh's 'list', and he only hoped this would help Marsh become used to assassinating their kind. "Pardon me madam, you must be fleeing from the docks, I assume? Are you harmed at all? If you wish, I can assist you." he offered politely, the woman seeming to take an interest in him. "Why yes, I did come from there, but that does depend sir - what kind of assistance are we talking about?" she asked with a raise of her brow, Vowe bowing to her. "My name is Vowe - and I am a man of, well, many talents." he told her as he straightened up with a charming smile, lifting his head ever so slightly to give a subtle nod towards the rooftops, signalling Marsh to make her move.

Denerius Belfore

Denerius watched the seer from where he stayed mostly hidden, but seeing what looked to him for all intents and purposes as a large and terrifying monster that looked as though it was ready to pounce on the poor woman, he abandoned his cover. What happened next however went so fast he hardly had time to react, right as Maeve turned around, the monster leaped, going past her and instead landing on the young man, who made an effort to dodge, but given it's size and the narrowness of the alley-way, not the mention the fact he'd expected it to attack her and not himself, had little chance to do much. Giving a surprised combination of a grunt and a cry as the monster toppled him over and pinned him beneath its weight, its claws jabbing very unpleasantly at him and scratching at his exposed arms. To his own surprise Denerius had managed to keep a hold on his dagger, but the thing did him little good at the moment when he could hardly move, his eyes narrowing as he glared up at the toothy mouth above him. Hearing Maeve saying something, though he couldn't understand what, he managed to speak, "Stay back!" he called, trying to warn her, unaware for a moment that she was trying to command the thing. As the thing moved from atop him, the human put two and two together, this monster, whatever it was, was under the woman's command, and to his relief, she didn't seem to have just told it to eat him, that or it wasn't very good at listening. As Maeve approached him, Denerius looked up at her, his eyes immediately spotting her third one, the man tensing as she hoisted him to his feet and taking a step back from her, holding his dagger in a defensive manner as he watched her cautiously. She was saying something again, but he couldn't understand, and then she seemed to realize that fact, speaking again, now in english, asking if he was alright and what he was doing there, the man wondering the same about her. For a moment he kept silent, eying her a bit, uncertain what to make of the situation, she'd seemed nice enough before, but her pet was a little intimidating and if she wanted to he was certain she could loose it on him at a moments notice should she feel the inkling to do so.

"I heard someone, suppose that was you." he explained, his tone sounding a bit more guarded than usual. "I'm fine." he added, though he could feel a few cuts and scrapes on his arms but there wasn't anything serious, and he didn't take his eyes off the woman and her monster to check them. Honestly his attention was focused a bit more on Balor than his master, but he was feeling wary of the both of them at the moment. After a quiet moment still holding a defensive stance, ready to protect himself should the need arise, he flicked his gaze back to Maeve. "The hell is that?" he asked, referring to her summoned companion. A second of consideration later he added, "And you too for that matter." though his tone seemed a little less harsh in regard to asking what she was rather than Balor. He still held some trust toward the woman from earlier in the day and he wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt that she wasn't going to kill him, or unleash the monster behind her on innocent people, but until he was certain, he remained cautious of the pair, most especially the monster, creatures were unpredictable at best, there was no telling if it might attack whether she wanted it to or not, or that was his opinion anyhow.

After a few second of silent thought which he had a worried look masked over his face Jake took two steps back as he raised his hands up and retreated after hearing what Shamera had to say. He then looked at her with a desperateness in his eyes as he spoke to her. “I do not know how to prove it, but if you can help my brother please do. I won’t get in your way.” With that said he took another step backwards as his irises became a bit darker, but still Jake made no aggressive move. The opportune moment had not yet reveals itself.

- Cyneward Atreus -

- The Honor Knight -

Cyneward managed a smile of relief as he managed to plant the bolt directly through his foe's forehead, feeling better already now that he'd gotten rid of that damned eye...whatever it was, exactly. Well, his opponent was gone now. Wasn't he? Again the Honor Knight's smile faded as he watched his enemy get to his feet after taking a clean shot to the head. What on Thelania...? The young man felt completely cold as he watched Weltur escaping, baring his teeth as he was called to. "This won't be the only victory I see through, fiend! Mark my words, you'll pay for thi--aaauuugh!!" suddenly the Strifesworn's grip around him became unbearable as it held Cyneward like a vice, and the last Weltur would see of him would be his eyes beginning to glow a luminous blue, and fangs starting to reveal themselves. Suddenly he was being burned, his vision concealed by a wall of flame. Unable to cry out as the monster almost crushed his lungs, he suddenly felt himself falling after hearing Divona yelling. Was she saving him?

His question was quickly answered as he was suddenly released by the monster, plunging into water as he took a moment to adjust to the shock of the ice cold temperature, before examining himself. No serious wounds that he could see at this moment, though his outfit was rather damaged at this point. Cyneward quickly recalled Divona, and looked below him, seeing her moving towards him, before noticing the Strifesworn grabbing at her heels. Frantically, he reached out to her, not very far from the woman as he strained his arm holding it out as far as he could, attempting to call the demon woman's name but only a multitude of bubbles left his mouth.

Divona Arethina
The Chubby Chocolate Southern Loli Demon

Divona was relieved to feel the frame of the strifesworn give way as her bulk slammed against it, the three of them tumbling off of the dock, that relief was quite short lived however as the monster turned on her while they feel, clawing at her. Rolling her body a bit through the air she managed to dodge the brunt of the attack, the monsters claw raking across her shoulder and back a little before they plunged into the icy water, the attack and the chill of the water stealing the air from her lungs. Despite her bodies instinct to try and gasp in air, the demon managed not to do so, as she would only have gulped in water instead, but she still had no air. It was hard to tell what had happened after the three of them had hit the water, but the fire seemed to be gone and looking around in the dark murky water she made out the vague shapes of Cyneward and the strifesworn both. The monster was sinking and the knight and her were both free, with relief she began to swim for the surface, eager for a breath of air to fill her aching lungs. Just as she thought for sure she was nearing the surface, the demon felt the clawed fingers of the monster grab at her feet, scratching her as they wrapped around her ankles, tugging her back down again. In a panic she tried to scream, but she didn't have the air to do so, loosing her focus over not gasping for air her body automatically tried to do so, the woman flailing as she breathed in liquid instead. Divona was in a full panic now as she sank deeper into the water, the strifesworn was so heavy and it's grip was like a vice around her no matter how hard she kicked at it attempting to free herself from it. Even the demons tail trashed about as she reached down trying desperately to pry its fingers from around her feet, nothing she did seemed to be doing any good, not even as she tried punching the thing in the side of the head, still they sank lower. Adrenaline was the only thing keeping her mind clear enough to not breathe in another lungful of water as she tried to free herself, but at last they had sunk to the bottom, all hope seemed to be ebbing away, no matter how much she bludgeoned the thing it wouldn't let go of her.

Divona was just giving up hope of escape when something drifted slowly downward toward them, it was hard to make it out in the murky depths of the water, but it appeared to perhaps be one of Cyneward's spare bolts from his crossbracer. In one last effort the demon snatched up the object when it came within reach, turning on her attacker and driving the bolt as hard as she could into the things head, the whole thing would have gone a littler smother had she used the right end, but enough force was applied to puncture the strifesworns skull none the less, making the monster let out a stream of bubbles while its bubbling goop oozed from the mortal wound. At last the creatures grip slackened, allowing Divona to pull free of it, placing her feet against the sandy floor and pushing as hard as she could manage upward, but even with the boost she couldn't manage to swim much at all, her panic was catching up to her again as the lack of oxygen set in. Her swimming turned into thrashing and she was starting to sink again, her vision fading around the edges as she looked up at Cyneward above her, he was reaching out to her but he was certainly way too far away for her to ever reach. At least she had managed to save Cyneward, but there was no way she was making it out of this water on her own, not anymore, she'd killed the strifesworn but it had effectively signed her death warrant as well. At least, she thought to herself during one of her finally moments of mental coherence, she would die free and not in the clutches of the monster, for what little comfort that provided.

Even though she was small in stature and light in weight, Drythe's weakened body was having real trouble supporting Catrina. Every inch of his body ached and he could feel the blood pulsing around his body before oozing out of his open wound. He took a quick glance around and realised that his vision was getting worse; he couldn't see Jake any more, nor could he see or hear this new person that had showed up. All he could hear was the demon on top of him, arguing. The noise thundered through his head, everything was getting more hopeless by the second but he wasn't about to give in to these people. Not again.

Despite his hands being shakey and not having much strength in them at all, he reached down and grabbed the end of his shirt and his dagger. He cut into the fabric, then pulled off a strip. The ripping was so loud to him, it was like an earthquake, he winced, but he persevered.

He gently threaded the shred of fabric across his back, between himself and Catrina. He hoped to disguise this as him shifting in pain, then he could bring the strip down and tie it around himself, if anything just to stop his wound from bleeding out any more. He shook his head to try and bring himself to his senses, if he passed out now, he was done for.

- Cyneward Atreus -

- The Honor Knight -

Cyneward's grey eyes widened as he watched Divona manage to free herself from the Strifesworn beast, only to start sinking again. He couldn't just watch her die. Desperately swimming towards her his heart began to pound - his lungs screaming for air. But he would not give in, not yet. The young man's resolve was something to be commended. Placing his left arm around Divona he used his right one to frantically attempt to swim to the surface, but to no avail. He was going to need to lose some of the weight he was carrying, he simply wasn't strong enough to swim for the two of them otherwise.

There was a chance Cyneward would manage if he entered into his demon form, but there was no chance he could accomplish that right now, and even if he could, he would be reluctant to do so even then. He refused to embrace his demonic side, for shame and fear of what might happen to him. Deciding to rapidly remove his jacket, undershirt, and of course his armor, there was one thing that remained on his upper body; his crossbracer. Giving another wave of his arm he managed to pull them both up a fair amount, but began to sink just a little too quickly once more.

Reluctantly, Cyneward released his prized crossbracer from his forearm, and finally, he was able to swim upwards with the demon woman in his grasp, soon reaching the surface where he was finally able to take a long gasp of wonderful air - oh how he needed it, a few more seconds underwater and he'd have lost grip on his consciousness. Carefully laying Divona down at the side of the docks, he took in a large breath of oxygen before he dove back into the water without a word.

His clothing and armor were long gone, but he could still retrieve his crossbracer, and doing so swiftly he returned to the side of the docks where he climbed up and got to his feet, equipping his crossbracer and gave a triumphant raise of his fist, small drops of water falling from the Honor Knight's damp hair and onto his bare chest. After a moment, he almost collapsed completely, barely catching himself before he sat propped against a wall. "We...did it..." he panted out, exhausted, before looking over at Divona with concern, hoping she would be alright.

Mordecai was almost terrified he said to much. The man was never one to lie about who he was. If he just lied at the beginning the conflict that followed was usually ten time worse than it needed to be. When it came to the two choices, Mordecai usually chose to just come right out and say it rather than wait. If he said it right away the people usually just started cursing him and left. But if he waited than he usually grew some sort of attachment with them and it hurt much worse when they left. He hadn't met one person who stayed after he told them about who he was. At the beginning he was able to shake it off, but after a while everyone leaving you kind of took it's toll. He like to pretend he was okay, and pretend that he liked being alone, but it always seemed like somebody was missing. But Mordecai didn't dare think about the girl who he was thinking off. Of the bright smile and those silver eyes. But if there was one thing he knew it was that you couldn't deal with death. He could never get her back. She was probably the only reason he so desperately wanted a companion. Because after her the demon felt empty. How many old couples had he seen living together happily until death? How many lovers had he taken too early only to watch their love ones suffer? Mordecai was not looking for love, of course, but he was looking for somebody to miss him after he was gone. It wasn't much to ask, was it?

His eyes had been particularly glazed over until he realized they were out of the crowd, and he was still clutching her hand. Mordecai dropped it apologetically, albeit reluctantly. As soon as he dropped her hand, she brought it up to her eye level, checking it. Raven felt her actions tug on his heart. It shouldn't hurt that much, Mordecai knew that, but the fact that she was checking for a curse did hurt him. The demon just thought that she was different. Alyss surely seemed different, not cowering in fear or expressing the slightest discomfort at what he was. But then she checked her hand... He didn't even have the power to curse people! His golden eyes fell to the ground, becoming preoccupied with his shoes rather quickly. "Perfectly understandable, Miss Leonhart. " He offered, tugging his hat down at little farther to cover his eyes, "No, not naive. Just careful. Never take a demon at his word, I suppose."

He turned on his heels and motioned for her to follow, listening intently to her words. Of course she wanted to come to this city. What mercenary or hired weapon did not want to come to the city with the Striftesworn running rampant. Business for those such people were great. Business for him was great too. Raven had collected and distributed more souls in the town of Feora than he had in the past three towns he visited. "Surely there isn't one person you could pay what you desire?" Mordecai interjected, his mind wandering to one of his business partners. The man would pay Alyss a hefty sum but to be sent to the front lines and most dangerous places. To die. Mordecai did not want her to die. He tilted his head to look over his shoulder, his eyes met hers briefly and were accompanied with a dark smile at her comment. "To live forever is a very foolish request. Life is for those who fear death." Raven took a sharp turn down a side street and continued to make his way to the inn. "You do not fear death, do you, Miss Leonhart? " He asked Alyss carefully, trying to keep a light tone in his voice.

A crossbow bolt had been fired at the demon, this action made him wary of the honor knight but instead of choosing to question him about it the vampire pulled back and turned his attention towards the docks. Something was going on, something that he didn't like. Chills shot up the mans spine before he look at the knight and then the rest of the people. Things were going to change, he could feel it. There was far to much conflict going on now. Monsters were infiltrating the city and what was worse, they were coming from the docks which alone was an unusual place in his opinion. The vampire wasted no more time, when people began to disperse he followed suit and rushed for the docks.Far to much was happening, however, there were people in mass chaos flooding through the city causing quite a fuss. The vampire, knowing that chaos int he city would only cause more trouble detoured from his goal and made it his objective to instead assist those trying to return to their homes.

Shin, having been confused by Cynewards reaction had chose to shrug the matter off. When the commotion arose, however, the demon prince found himself falling into an alert state. He didn't really understand what was going on at first but he did know that it was coming from the direction of the docks. So, taking off in that direction he found himself coming upon Shamera and what appeared to be a small group of others. The demon prince came to a stop near the familiar girl and glanced to the others," Is everything okay here?" he inquired before he inhaled only to catch the scent of blood," He doesn't look so good..." he uttered more to himself than to anyone else around him. He was quite oblivious to what was going on and he could only assume that the boy had been injured by a monster," Is everyone else here okay?" he inquired looking from Shamera to the girl and so forth.

Cianna, much like Nicolai, had found herself assisting others more so than making it to the docks to fight alongside others. When she was finally bale to make it her eyes fell upon the bare chested knight and the female demon laying upon the ground, had they been seriously injured!? Fear leapt into her eyes before she ran to Divona and knelt on the ground beside her. It seemed the fighting was over for the time being but her worries for the city were well on their way back into her mind,"Divona!" she cried out before she placed her ear beside the girls mouth. There was hope, there had to be, had she made it in time? Cyneward's condition would have to wait, he seemed to be much more coherent and awake and keeping that in her thoughts Anna set to work.

Finding the notch in the demon's rib cage where her chest met it the girl delicately positioned her hands and lifted her body. Once she was ready, she quickly compressed in a few rapid moment before she did much like Shin had and pressed her mouth to Divona's where she forced air into the girl. While forcing air in, she held the demons nose close before she pulled back and returned to rapid chest compressions," Come on..." she pleaded with tears forming in her eyes. She didn't know anyone that she was with right now well enough to call a friend but she didn't want them to die. She wanted to be able to protect people and save their lives as needed.

She could see the cuts and scrapes on his arms when he got to his feet, and for a moment she considered scolding her familiar. But then she couldn't help flinching the slightest bit when Denerius demanded to know what she and Balor were. Her lips tightened, and she couldn't help but feel a small surge of resentment, despite knowing that was irrational. After all, her familiar did not look friendly or even safe to be around. But the unspoken accusation hurt, and at the back of her mind Maeve was already planning the fastest route out of the city and how far she would have to go to avoid any would-bounty hunters. Sensing his master's turmoil, Balor tried to shield her protectively with his wings, and growled at Denerius. Clearly this wasn't going to get anywhere fast if he kept behaving that way. "Balor," she sighed, stroking hiead, "jaci ui vi thurirl. Vucoti wux jahen ergriff xoalir ekess troth ve nheelyn, shar yth shilta enel jacion." The monster paused for a moment, swinging his head back and forth between the human and shide before finally relaxing his stance, purring loudly and butting his head into her side. Maeve shook her head fondly before looking back to Denerius with a guarded expression.

"This is Balor. He is my familiar." The beast is question settled himself to the ground, attempting to curl around her feet like an enormous dog. She considered whether she should lie. Hopefully he would believe it. "I am a Seer, like I told you before. Many who gain the powers of divination open a third eye." Lying by omission would work. Because while it was possible for any person with divination powers could gain a third eye, hers was the only race she knew of that were born with them, albeit closed. So as long as he didn't know about Shides, she was in the clear, and would have a little more time to get out of the city. He didn't seem like the type to blackmail, so that was one aspect where she was safe for sure. "I.... apologize for frightening you, and for Balor's behavior." Maeve noticed the man's gaze on her creature.

"I promise he is under control and will not try to attack you again. He was overexcited, and misinterpreted your presence." She considered putting away her dagger, but kept it out, in case Denerius decided that she couldn't be trusted and attacked. Warily, the woman waited for his response, ready to fight or flee at a moment's notice.

User Image When Nazerene had drained her meal she let his now lifeless body hit the wet bords of the docks. Nazerene felt wonerful, she felt warm, she thought as she often did when she took a life to sate her need tht perhaps she had finally found what she had been looking for. That feeling always left her within the hour and thus she had to kill again just to feel it. Nazerene hadn't a clue what that warm feeling was, or how she find it, she just knew that when a life was taken and sweet taste of blood filled her, she felt as if that awful black void in hercenter was at last filled. Shaking her head she dispelled these gray thoughts. She let her yellow eyes watch the panic and violence of the battle. It was wonderful to watch, each violent slash and stroke of claw was perfect and graceful to her. She could have stood there for hours and watched the wonderful display. Ah, but she did no have all the time in the world, far from it, she had fed, her need to know was slacked, and really what else was there to see, good and 'evil' were clashing, one side would be the victor and the balance would be tipped in the winners favor. Nazerene gave the burning docks one final loving look over before she turned on her feels and vanished, as if she had never been.

Safe back in her chuch, the vampire sat upon her throne she had made from the slain, bone and cloth, two grinning skulls for her palms to rest on. She closed her eyes and saviored the sweet warmth of having her need stilled, she knew it would fade, but for now she relaxed in her place of power, looking like nothing short of a princess enjoying the peace and quite of her throne room.
