An Explanation of Sections



Storyline: A brief introduction to this roleplay.

Rules: Please read everything here thoroughly. All roleplayers are expected to know and adhere to these at all times.

Announcements: Updated as often as needed in order to alert people whether sections on the front page have been updated or any other information pertinent to the roleplay.

Application Form: To be filled out and PMed to Daemon Striker for approval in order to join the roleplay.

Profile List: A roster of all active participants.

Settings: An explanation of significant settings that are vital to the story. May be expanded/amended as needed.

The Clans & Territories: List of all clans that pop up in the different territories in-game. The list will be expanded/edited as people build factions within the story.

CENTURIES AGO, angels, demons, half-breeds, giants, and creatures of all kinds once roamed the world freely amongst the human population and were not yet myths. "The Immortal Ones," they were called; they were greatly respected by many. Then, one day, humans began to resent them for their long lifespans. Weaknesses were exploited; The Immortal Ones were hunted and harvested for their assets—strength, beauty, an increase of years added to one's life. With split views on how to handle the crisis, through this, there emerged three separate factions.

"THE DARK," corrupt souls that integrated themselves amongst the humans and used the unfortunate turn of events as an excuse to wreak havoc and bloodshed.

"THE LIGHT," peace loving individuals who still carried hope that tranquility and order could be maintained.

The remainder, and also the majority, who wished simply to be left alone, chose to take and move their operations underground. A man named Sonny G., the oldest member of this group, became their leader, establishing for them a kingdom in the Underworld and governed over them for many years. Over time, The Immortal Ones slowly became written off as "supernatural occurrences" or otherwise tales of yore.

Under Sonny's nearly 2,000 year reign, a new generation bred from curiosity slowly emerged. These beings questioned their history and wondered why they are still in hiding. Surely they were more powerful than measly mortals, some said to themselves. The day to day in the Underworld was rather boring, to say the least, and word from members of The Dark, who ventured between realms with stories of excitement of human progress stirred something within the new generation, creating within them a desire to experience the other side. Some wished to explore whilst joining one of the other two factions. Others, who would soon become known as "The Decaders," were individuals driven by the desire to experience the liveliness of human culture and were more like sociologists—of the supernatural variety—content to just watch and experience humanity throughout the ages, neither helping nor hurting any cause.

JANUARY 1, 1900, Sonny dies of old age. There are whispers of two possible heirs, one of them a member of The Dark. When neither steps up to the plate, it is believed that the rumors are false, and the struggle for control over all the immortals begins. The efforts, however, are not overly aggressive as there is an unspoken, shared sentiment that perhaps there is a larger element that they are all missing.

NOW, TWENTY YEARS LATER, the year on Earth, above-ground, is 1920. There is an air of political and social unrest amongst the humans that mirrors that of The Immortal Ones, particularly in the State of New York. It's as if even they can sense a shift in the air around them...

✎ Quality over quantity. Write as much as you want, as long as it hits the 200 word minimum. However, there's no need to write an epic, unless what you've got planned requires it.
✎ Posts do not have to be historically accurate to the letter (after all, neither is the main story, it's just influenced by historical events); however, be logical. (Ex: Don't whip out a cell phone when they haven't been invented yet.)

💻 Reserves must be accepted before you can make a profile. Use the form posted in the application section.
💻 Reserves that show lack of literacy will be rejected.
💻 Profiles must be created in the Test Forum.
💻 Profiles must be built using the template in the "Profiles" subsection. It must also include journal posts. Please refer to my two characters posted in the profile list as an example of what yours should look like.
💻 Each player is allowed a maximum of two (2) main characters to start.
💻 If you'd like to apply for a third character, you must first meet the following requirements: you must be an active roleplayer for at least two (2) months since your acceptance date, you've adhered to posting at least once a week with one of your characters, you plot regularly with other users, and you have not left other players hanging when roleplaying. If you meet all of the aforesaid criteria, please end me a PM with your new character reserve.
💻 You may submit a profile for a new character if one (or more) of your main characters has died.
💻 You have a maximum of one week (7 days) to create a profile for one character. (If you have two characters, you still only have one week for each character, and you may not combine the days. 🕑 There is a main story in place. Don't try to hijack it. Major turf wars/significant turnovers of power are not allowed without discussing it with me first in the OOC thread. Fights that could potentially lead up to such an event is permitted, however. In fact, if I see potential there for a great plot twist, it is highly likely that I will post up a poll of some sort to see how many people would be interested in taking the story in such a direction, and go with the majority vote.
🕑 You may skip time in the same day as posted on the calendar so long as everyone plotting with you is in agreement. You may not time-skip to the next day without receiving permission from myself, Daemon Striker.
🕑 Players are limited to the settings listed in the roleplay. If you would like to request an additional setting, please quote me in the OOC thread and post your proposal(s) there for me to consider. Remember to quote me or I may not see it.
🕑 "Human" characters cannot exceed 120 years of age.
🕑 "Immortal" characters are not truly immortal; they can just live longer than the average human. They must have at least one weakness that could potentially kill them, and they do eventually die of old age at 2,000 years.
🕑 All characters must have a human form, regardless of whether or not they are actually human.

♚ We are continuing to accept profiles!! We have some impressive characters so far.
♚ For those who directly copied the code for the journal content, there were some errors I made on mine that I caught recently, particularly for my characters. Please recopy them to correct the mistakes, and sorry for the inconvenience!
♚ While not the end of the world, please try to remember to tack on "a.m." or "p.m." to your times. It helps if/when the context isn't clear regarding time in posts.
♚ Profile roster (at the moment) is up-to-date and current, although one user is planning on posting with a second character as well, so please stay tuned for that!
♚ Story recap updated to help newcomers who would like to jump in but find reading all the text to catch up to be daunting. (I'm hoping this section will grow more and more helpful over time as this roleplay gains more pages for the newcomers who come much later on, should someone be interested and if there are available slots open.)
♚ No overly powerful characters please. I mean this. Bottom line; I'm the roleplay organizer, and the rules are there for a reason. If you are not willing to follow them or work with the rest of the team (who have no issue abiding by the rules set) then please do not apply. I know there are plenty of roleplays out there people can apply for and trust me, my feelings will not be hurt if this is one you decide to pass over. At the end of the day, I'd honestly rather have a handful of dedicated, quality roleplayers than a full roster of powerhouse characters that can make for an unbalanced playing field.

✠ In the physical absence of a ruler, there has been social and political unrest in the Underworld. There are those who await the return of one of the Moretti brothers, and those who are either unaware of the brothers' existences or simply don't care, who have been going back and forth, resulting in constant mini-shifts in "power."

✠ Dominick has gone above-ground to pursue his brother in hopes of eliminating him before actualizing his ultimate vision.

✠ Vincenzio has settled in nicely with the humans and has recently opened his own speakeasy with two sections; the main area where humans can mingle, and the "V.I.P." section, cordoned off for fellow Decaders.

✠ Speaks are gaining traction in the State of New York, and it's the start of the Roaring 20's.

✠ Eir and Alessa have met and conversed in the street. Now Alessa is at Raven's Haunt.

✠ Vincenzio accepted a shipment for his speak before returning to check on his front business, Ristorante D'Italia, where Lucille was about to introduce him to Rachel.

✠ Dyrdis has entered Ristorante D'Italia and is greatly displeased with how Vincenzio has been spending his time in the Overworld. She has asked to speak to him privately, and the two of them are about to enter the hidden section of The Taproom, reserved specifically for Immortal guests upon request (or in this case, out of necessity for privacy).

✠ Marcellus has entered Ristorante D'Italia. He's settled in and ordered a meal. Teala is also there, and she is searching for Dyrdis.

✠ Lucille is playing a bit of a hostess role with Rachel, Marc, and Teala.
