“Ugh! Haggling…” She shook her head. Soraya had the notion people only asked for what their wares were worth or what they needed. She could either pay it, or tell them what she could pay and they had the choice of accepting or declining. She didn’t wish to argue over it. Haggling was not something she looked to deal with. She then nodded. “You’re welcome to speak to someone from the Temple…I can have my people make arrangements for you if you like.”

She was making notes that someone would get back with them on some potential programs that they could consider. She looked up at him when he mentioned the housewarming. “I’d be happy to attend, but---” She smiled. “Is it alright if I invite the Stone Twins and Portia? They’ve not gotten out much and I worry they’ll start mutiny on the staff if I go out without them.”

She felt guilty for asking, but she felt guilty for accepting without asking. They had been cooped up, and while Castle Aislin was a lovely place to be cooped up…She was not locked away for her own safety while her family was at war. She could extort promises of good behavior from them or let Lady Shayde devise their punishments. Portia she had no worries over, it was the Twins.

Cristina Raine Hawke

►Staring at the sun,
No rays down on me,
I call you in my arms,
Embrace is unreal..◄

Wolf(Aella)

All Cristina could remember of the day before was her crime and how she ended up owing a debt to the King for her stupid actions. She grunted as she heard somebody bang on her door. "Get up, Hawke! You are needed." She hid her head under her pillow, refusing to get up. Then there was another bang on the door which made her jump from her bed and onto the floor in pain. Aella rushed to her side, whimpering as the dog's master was moaning in pain. The door opened and two guards walked into the room. She glared at the guards, as she got up from the floor. "What am I needed for?" she asked, crossing her arms in front of her chest, waiting for a reply. "A mission. Get dressed, doesn't matter what you wear, dress or..pants." The man stared at her body then her legs, noticing that she was still wearing the outfit from the day before. "Fine, I'll get ready. Please give me some privacy since I fell off the bed from your "gentle" door tapping." she said, turning on her heel to go find her bag of her items.

She found a dress that she could slide over her corset and her pants without any trouble. She just had to remind herself to make the dress a bit looser around her ribs since she was already wearing a corset that was tight. She grabbed her bag and boots, shoved her feet into the material and followed the guards. She had no idea what the mission was about and who she would be with, but she was glad she was going to earn some freedom. She kept her pace with the guards just as Aella did as they tried to find Aldrick and Wraith.

She pulled away from him with her whispered words. His hands fell to his sides and he stood there still. It wasn't until the queens finished speaking that he turned and walked out of the King's Hall. It figured the one time he forgot to bow was before two monarchs of Rochford, and that was too much to hope for it to go unnoticed. Verity did enough curtsies with her skirts to make up for the entire kingdom. Vaughn walked up the railing of the stone steps into the hall. He stopped at the end to watch his sister juggle a few daggers and reached for the one at his lower back. He threw a fifth, burying it into the trunk just above her grouping of four. The prince jumped down and went to retrieve them all.

When he returned, Angeline's carriage had been brought over and some servants had begun to load it up for their journey. He handed the daggers to Verity and sheathed his, taking something from a servant having difficulties carrying it to toss onto the carriage. They looked at him strangely, but his neutral expression kept them from saying anything about his treatment of the luggage. Angeline walked out of the hall and climbed into the carriage. She didn't say anything and neither did he as he mounted his horse, riding ahead of it.

For a couple recently engaged, they acted so happy. They went out of the North gate, across the bridge into Morden and were on their way within a few hours.

She smiled at him telling her of the unexpected kindness. "Are they not being nice to you?" she laughed softly, humor dimmed by the saddness she felt. The guilt, for sending them away on their own. He told her the twins expected her to come to Elysia to get them, perhaps they misunderstood. She felt like weeping again, for being such a horrible mother. "I will write. If you would deliver it, that would mean the world to me." Melisende nodded and collected the cleared plates to put away. She carried them as she led him to the guest room he could use. Brookelle was not in the castle and neither was her husband, but she was not going to inform him of her absence.

"I will stick it under the door if it is closed and you are asleep," she said and opened the door, leading the way in. She set the plates on the table to start a fire in the room so it would not be so cold when he laid down to rest. On her way out, she recollected the plates and turned to him in the doorway. "Thank you, Isaac." With a slight curtsey, she was gone. Melisende went to her room to pen a letter to her children and Portia.

He smiled at the two creatures in his hands. A minature dragon, or gliding lizard, and a sugar glider no taller than his finger. Both took up residence on each of his index fingers, hugging him tight. They were so small, he could stick both of them in his mouth and they could still move around.

“Ying and Yang.” He informed his father out loud as to the identities of the pets. Drake laughed and patted his curls, and it took Drae a moment to realize what was happening. He let the hand stay there a moment before he started shaking and ducked out from under it. “Thank you, again.” He said as they went walking the halls of the castle back towards the apartment.

Ven kept making comments about how his pets weren’t fashionable and he finally had enough. “At least mine can fit in my pocket at dinner time.” He stuck his tongue out at his brother who seemed to realize what sort of predicament sneaking his pet to dinner would be.

“Are we staying here or going back to Korenhaal?”

Draegon thought he was so smart with his tiny dragon and flying squirrel. He was lucky Ven couldn't shoot straight. It didn't matter that he couldn't sneak his pet to dinner, for when it grew, he was going to train it to bring dinner to him. A tiny servant he had to pay in bits of food instead of gold. And one that didn't rat you out. "We're staying here, in Tyrley," he replied for Lord Drake, spinning with the monkey on his head into the suite.

"I heard Queen Morrigan is fond of Sugar Gilders. She likes 'em in her tea. So I wouldn't sneak 'im to dinner if I were ya, Drae!" Wyrven politely informed and warned his dear brother. He carried his monkey on to their apartments where he began setting up the cage and basket for the little creature. Once everything was, he laid on his stomach before it to flip through the book one last time before he was made to flip through a million others he didn't care about.

Lord Drake had to leave for Acaelus. Ven was under the impression after breakfast, but it seemed something delayed the lord. Like shopping. "Is the king going to be mad you're running late?" he asked, "Maybe both of them will be."

Confined to the boat with the people who'd made her life the worst (and best) kind of hell wasn't exactly her idea of fun, but Angeline was dealing with it well enough. It had been a while since she'd been out to sea, and it was beautiful. She leaned over the railing and looked down at the waves as they turned white, slapping the side of the boat almost violently. She knew why people thought her simple; she enjoyed things like waves and glittering water, without fear of what others may think of her dangling feet and her overjoyed smile.

She turned when she heard the click of boots on the worn wood behind her. She knew who's feet those were, who's boots made the boards squeak under their weight. Angeline turned and took his hand in her own. There was no one around to hear them, and therefore, no reason she should not speak. Angeline's face buried in Vaughn's shoulder and she held him just like that. She was hurt, angry, and lonely, but most of all, she was deprived. Deprived of love. Someone who valued her and treated her as more than an object. The least she could do was treat him as a human, and a love, even if he could not do the same for her.

"I don't mean to make it seem as if I didn't miss you. I did, Vaughn. More than anything in the world. More than my title or my fortune or my certainty of my very life the next morning." She breathed into his clothes, clutching him to her as dearly as she could. "But I'm scared."

He held his fears and found himself alone. It had been a while, so they were a ways from Rochford's shore. Vaughn decided to find Angeline, picking himself up from the bunk and heading out on deck. She was at the railing, enjoying the sea air. Almost unexpectedly, she turned at his approach and took his hand. Her embrace was welcomed. With earlier words, he had thought he messed up completely. More, as if he hadn't already. He lifted a hand and brushed at her hair. "The estate is between Northshore and Seaside, far from Victor, Verity, she won't touch you," he assured her as much as himself, tilting up her chin to look into her eyes. "What are you afraid of?"

Her gaze lifted to meet his. "Being lonely again." When voiced, it seemed it should have been obvious to him. Anything either of them would once fear more...

He swallowed. "You feel lonely with me?"

"Convince me that I won't." He pressed his lips to hers. He leaned forward, setting his arms around her and feeling the railing behind her at the back of his hands. Vaughn pulled them away to cup her face, kissing her again.

He smiled warmly and nodded, “Of course, I’ll add a few extra place settings to the table. No trouble at all your Majesty, the more, the merrier. Dinner will be at sunset if that is agreeable to you. Are there any allergies or medical conditions I need to be aware of?

He did enjoy cooking quite a bit, when he was younger his adoptive father had helped teach him to cook his own meals. As the years passed and he had become so successful, he dedicated several months to learning how to cook dishes one would see in Royal Gatherings. Not to mention etiquette and other talents he would need to rub elbows with those that once looked down on him.

The Noverian delegation would hopefully enjoy the meal, he would be cooking dishes from each of the Seven Kingdoms. He had personally been to the market and had bought everything he would need. He had given his newly hired staff the evening off in the kitchen, he would be the head chef tonight. Unorthodox yes, but it conveyed several messages that were not overt.

The King had given his tentative approval, leaving Wraith and Aldrick to deal with the issue at hand. They conferred for some time about how best to approach and neither of them could settle on a way to contact both. Finally it was time for dinner and then the revelation that both the Thornias Family had been robbed and Victor was dead occurred. That had been quite the shock…

Several days later a proclamation was received by hawk informing everyone that he was alright, but in a coma and Verity was acting as the Queen regent. A strange turn of events but he was glad the King was alive, albeit incapacitated. This altered his plans however, his grand scheme had just suffered a serious blow.

He immediately wrote to someone who needed to be aware of the turn of events, he needed to put a hold on his plan that included Gareth. He wrote his message encrypted, “DRPEKFOORIEONCETEROEPAPNTEANIOPDRDTW” Sending his raven out he considered the situation at hand. Gareth currently was doing an alright job, yes he could do better but his sister would need considerable grooming still. No, it was time for a change of tactics at the moment.

He prepared to meet Wraith again and this time Ms. Hawk would be joining them. They were leaving in a day to meet with the Noverian Queen and the rebels. He just hoped they didn’t try to kill them. He finally found Wraith in the library, nodding to him politely and then sent word to Ms. Hawk of their location. Soon they could begin.

After they settled into the apartments again with the boys’ new pets he asked Kingsley if he had missed anything. Apparently Oak had had a fight and Serah had been slightly injured. That could delay their departure for a time, and Rock apparently had been forced to intervene with Oak.
Around that time Wyrven asked if he should have already gone, “I need to check on someone, apparently my partner for the trip injured herself… He headed out the door and then yelled back in, And behave yourselves!”

The boys would be staying in Tyrley of course, it was easier than moving them to Korenhaal and shocking them again with a change of scenery. He actually hoped that he could be stationed permanently in the castle, he had grown fond of it.

As he searched the castle for Serah he heard Verity Thornias had arrived, something that made him stop for a moment in dread. That one night stand was still in his memory and he really did not want to relive it. Thankfully however, he did not see her and instead hurried along to find Serah. Finally, he found a servant who knew where she was but told him she was at dinner. He said, “Please go and tell her Lord Drake is inquiring as to when we will be departing for Acaelus. He also sends his best wishes regarding her recovery to her injury.

That being done he went back to the apartments, seeing as how they weren’t leaving today….

Serah gasped and turned as she heard the door being slammed shut. Her hand went to her heart but she was careful not to press too hard since her hands were still very sensitive. A few seconds she had been smelling the delicious food, growing a fearsome appetite and now she felt like a child that had been caught. She let out a breath when Oak explained why he had done it and chuckled, relaxing once more. "Dear gods, Baron. What has that woman done to you? I thought you loved all women." she laughed "I am not afraid of Princess Verity. If she does come, I will try and distract her so you may escape. All though, maybe I shouldn't, she has an advantage you see." she pointed to her injured hands and smiled.

"Well, I don't want the food to get cold and maybe I need a few drinks in me before I can write that dreadful letter to my parents. Let's eat while you tell me all about your small crush on princess Verity." she sat next to him and let him pick a plate for her with a bit of everything. She was using the story to not feel so embarrassed that he was going to feed her. It was so utterly weird but they were off to a great start already. He had a way about him to make things not so awkwardly. Serah licked her lips and bit on her lower one, her cheeks flaming as she realized just what type of food she had picked. It was her favorite kind since she loved eating with her hands but, she had forgotten that part. As he picked the first sausage roll she opened her lips "Should I say 'ahh' baron?" she felt like a baby "Maybe we should be drunk for this." she said hesitantly but still smiling.

He could tell Tabitha was growing tired of the game but he had this urgency to teach her all he knew and all his father taught him. He thought the board game would help make it fun but apparently Tabitha was almost falling asleep of boredom.. Well, they had been playing for five hours straight so he couldn't blame her. As he won the game, he settled the pieces again and Tabitha made a sound of discomfort "Just one last game, sister.--" But then, miss Hawke appeared in the door and he couldn't help but smile at the sight of her and her beautiful baby "It is no problem, please come in." Tabitha seemed pleased with her presence, too pleased. Tabitha smiled to the baby as well and asked of the child's name. As Amy told them his name was Leon they both thought it was a strong name. "Can I play with him while you talk to my brother? I promise to be careful." Tabitha took the baby and began kissing his nose and making a really childish voice, giggling her way out of the office, no doubt to play with bubbles and the baby. His sister had found a way out and he quickly went about cleaning the table of the board game he had been playing "Please sit, miss Hawke. I apologize for yesterday. It was a family emergency." he offered her a glass of wine, although he didn't drink any himself and instead took a glass of water "Tell me what it was you wanted to tell me before. I am all ears, my lady."

“Thank you, Councilman.” She smiled brightly. “I’m not aware of any allergies…I’ll double check and send you word if there are any. I look forward to seeing what you have in store…Lady Shayde will be coming, but I don’t know if she will be eating. She tends to watch the Twins like a hawk.” She chuckled and stood, escorting him towards the door.

“As I said, if you would like to speak with the Temple, let someone know and they’ll arrange correspondence. I’ve never been to the Temple myself, or I would tell you where to find it. I’m sure Councillor Berwyn may know, or someone else if you think you’d rather handle it in person. I’ll see you this evening.” He bid his farewell and she decided to spend a few moments in her garden, after sending a servant to inquire about any allergies with the Stones or Portia…A new housewarming deserved a gift, and it felt like ages since she’d last got to work in her gardens on her own.

An hour and two filthy hands later, she was nestling the last of the kitchen herbs she gathered for Vorlander’s gift for his housewarming into the flatbox meant for transplanting plants. She had even handwritten the tags identifying each and every one, tying the little ribbon tags to the base of each plant. Then it was time to gather the Stones and Portia and let them know the lovely news.

First, she just had to find them.

Wraith looked up from the book on Noverian wilderness, a brow raised. He was well aware of what he could find in Valryte, and Hackathorn-thanks to Verity- but the other Kingdoms…He had familiarized himself with some things when they traveled to Rochford, and he felt the need to overly familiarize himself with whatever her could get his hands on where Noveria was concerned…Rochford was peaceful…Noveria was not.

“Master Aldrick.” He said before he turned the last page of the book. He placed it on the corner of the desk and pulled another forth, this one about the gods of Noveria. He held it out to Aldrick. “That might be more your forte than mine.” He said. Wraith didn’t think himself a religious sort…Things happened, you dealt with them. Simple as that. Though he’d never actually said it out loud. Aldrick would be the one talking, Wraith was just going because the letter had been sent to him by Volkov…Which probably would not be in his favor at all, never mind he never met the man.

He picked up a book on dangerous animals of Noveria, the signs that they were about, the best ways to guard against them, antidotes for venoms, and other such things. They had to wait for Miss Hawke, he might as well do something other than endure awkward silence.
