Kain was separating the files into two piles - Legal, and illegal. The illegal pile was a much higher stack than the one beside it. "Black markets, underworld trading, importing and exporting illegal substances, poisons, drugs, drinks, weapons... All of it COMPLETELY UNAUTHORIZED!" Kain's fists smashed into the desk, sending a loud thrum through the room. The more drawers he opened, the higher the pile of evidence against Vorlander became.

He read every single document to the letter, and there was still plenty more to be looked over. Part of him wanted to tell the guards to just pack everything up and bring it to Castle Viridian so he could look at it later. But his eyes simply could not stop reading. There was a massive amount of things Vorlander was involved in to further his financial status. He was far more rich than Kain had previously thought.

There was enough evidence to put Vorlander in a cell for life, and there was still so much left to go through. Kain was livid, and Finn had not spoken. He had simply sat in the corner, watching Kain and the guards look over everything. Rohesia wandered about, pacing around the room and admiring a few trinkets here and there. But Kain hardly noticed... His eyes were fixed on other things.

There were files on a lot of people as well, and Kain was not about to start digging through those. Vorlander may be content to take their privacy, but Kain wasn't. Kain hated himself for ever trusting Vorlander to begin with.

"I'm Lannister." He replied with a simple smile. "This is Sunnifa and Kelevra." He pointed to the both of them. "And the big one is Dragon, and the little one is Nebula. I'm here because I was tasked with teaching some of the new recruits how to properly shoot a bow. These two are here to kill the bastards who brought the city down on our heads... And now I'm going to help."

His leg itched again, but he knew scratching it was useless, so he simply stuck his hands in his pockets and pinched his thigh, hoping that would take his mind off of it.

"The other two that just left are pretty much doing the same thing Kelevra and Sunnifa are doing. Killing Slade's dogs... At least, I think that's why Victor was here."

"How did you survive?" Kelevra asked her. A very good question. Looking around the place, it was easy to see that not many people had survived. The entire area, even where they were now, where the outer wall once stood, bodies littered it, and there were pools of blood so thick, it required you to watch where you were stepping.

"Yes. How did you survive?"

She began to wonder if he was going to read everything and if they would be in there all night, or up until the very point Vorlander returned. "Pardon me, Lord Ecanis," Rohesia timidly approached the angered man after he had disrupted the silence with a pounding of his fists. "But you have yet to look in here..." She lifted up her hands and slowly moved one down to the drawer of the desk. It clicked when she pulled, signalling that it was locked.

She crouched down to have a look and then fixed it with a good, hard yank and a few kicks. The lock broke along with one of her fingers. Almost. She shook her fingers and blew on them, having done that a little improperly, but she wasn't as magically gifted as Kain. Since he had done that to the door, she didn't see any problem with doing that to the desk. Her reward was a few files that Vorlander had looked over before he left, ones she had seen him glance over.

Rohesia read them over quickly herself, just to make sure before handing them down to the seated man. "This is what he had," she said, and handed them over without commenting on the content of the pages. She knew they would be of interest to Kain from what he and Finn had talked about in the castle. It was a file on Slade and on the port, something he had said he did not know of, from what she could tell by looking over it very briefly. The evidence of his lie, so she thought, and waited to see if it was from Kain's reaction.

Speaking With: Aine, Slade, Vorlander

“I will do my best to make sure of that. I’ve already lost my children Aine, and Elle is lost to me forever, I have nothing left of my life.

He was glad that Aine didn’t want to hurt him, he would have felt terrible if he had to hurt her, she was his last piece of family. He realized now that power was the only way to keep those he loved and cared for alive, and if Slade would give him that power, so be it.

He noticed Slade and Vorlander watching them from the corner, “Have you reached an agreement?

We have. Aine may bear witness to this. In exchange for giving up three spies in each of the cities and paying ten gold pieces for every soul listed in Dorian at the last census to the Ecanis Family. In return the Families will agree to not make an aggressive action towards Slade and vice versa for a period of six months, after which terms will be renegotiated.”'

It was a fair deal, one that both of them agreed would make Vorlander appear essential to the Families operations. Neither would be exactly happy with the deal, but neither would both complain, plus Slade knew that Vorlander would do his best to keep the neutrality as long as possible.

“If Slade breaks the deal he will forfeit his hold on the Sister Cities and allow the Families to govern them once more. If the Families break the deal they will give up the LaMarche district and agree to allow Slade to govern that district.

Droston was curious as to what Vorlander could do to make this deal official, and he didn’t disappoint, producing a contract that Slade signed with a quill that seemed to write in gold ink with no inkwell, curious. “The moment Kain Ecanis signs this the deal will take effect. This is a binding magical contract, if either one of you break it, your power and soul will enhance the other’s magical ability.”

“And why would I want to agree to that, burn the contract now.”

Forgive me Overlord, but do you honestly think that just a piece of paper is going to restrain both of you? And that both of you will honestly adhere to the terms if it was just words.”

Slade had absolutely nothing to say to that, he just glared at Vorlander.

Aine, we’re finished here if you and Droston are, and I need to get back to LaMarche as soon as possible.

"Aine... I'm sorry it had to be this way."

Divine Muse

Aine listened and figured it was as fair a deal as good be had. Slade wasn't pleased by it, and she doubted Kain would be either. The little twist that Vorlander added with the contract though...She managed to not smile in the present company. "It is witnessed." She sure as hell wasn't signing the demon contract. ******** that.

She didn't meet Droston's gaze. He had enough to deal with. Her disappointment showing wouldn't do anyone any good. "I'm sorry too. Goodbye brother."

She walked with Vorlander and followed him out of the castle. He gave her a warning before he grabbed her shoulder and teleported them. Too bad her stomach didn't hold up when they were finished. She pushed away from Vorlander and retched, not just from the Teleporting, but the twisting pain in her stomach that made her know that she had lost her brother again, and there was no chance of getting him back. She stumbled a few paces and sat down, hugging her knees to her chest and burying her face against her arms to hide the tears.

He took the file from her and set it on the desk. It was labeled with a name and a place. Even without opening it, it was obvious that Vorlander knew more than he had ever let Kain know. He slowly opened the cover, hoping it was somehow a different Slade and a different Port. But it wasn't. It was The Overlord. It had a staggering amount of information on Slade, things that weren't exactly juicy details for gossiping, but things that would definitely fall under the category of important.

Kain had enough at that point. He set the file down. "My Lady... I will not reward you for being a thief." He looked at her with a solemness in his eyes. "But I will pardon you for your crimes this time. You were lucky today. Your thievery helped us uncover something much more terrible... For that, I pardon you. But do yourself a favor. Get a proper job in the city. There are plenty of places being built, they need people to work them... You are free to go."

Kain looked to Finn and his guards. "Pack all this up. Everything in this room is coming back to the Amick District with us. Finn, run ahead and purchase for a cart to take all this." Finn and the girl left the room together. Kain and the guards began packing everything. The desk was too large to work through the door, so they had to teleport it. But the bookshelves and various chests went easier.

Once outside, all that was left to do was wait for Finn to arrive with the cart. "Close this building. Nobody enters... Fill the damn thing with sand if you have to." Vorlander's LaMarche headquarter was officially shut down... It was the first and only that would be, though.

Vorlander smiled, took the contract and teleported Aine and him out of the Port, and then gathering his strength brought them a third of the way back. He was frustrated that he couldn't teleport all the way back to LaMarche but he had no choice, he needed more souls. He had only been gone less than a day but he knew Kain was the bigger threat at the moment. If the man had gotten into his files he would know a great deal more than he had originally known.

It took him the better part of the day to regain his strength as they walked and he was able to make little jumps that shortened the distance. But it still took him two days, days he couldn't afford to lose. When he arrived at LaMarche he left Aine at one of his homes and then ran to his office, it was closed. Kain had sealed it, that didn't stop him. He teleported into his office and sure enough, completely empty. "Damn him. Damn him to the seven hells." Everything was gone.

He emerged back on the street and hired a teleporter not associated with the Grid to bring him directly to Amick District, at the price of one hundred gold pieces. The man happily accepted the offer and soon they were in Amick. He raced to his office and told the secretary, "If the Ecanis' try and take the office, let them." He then headed for the castle and announced himself to the guards. He wanted the contract back. The man nodded and within moments, Vorlander was being escorted into Kain's office... When he arrived with barely contained sarcasm he said, “Kain Ecanis, well now I feel so much better knowing it was you who broke into my offices. And all while I was gone getting your cease-fire treaty.” He held up the contract for all to see.

But I guess raiding my offices was more important.

Rohesia bowed her head to show her gratitude, as thankful as she could possibly be for getting out of that debt and out of this mess she found herself in. She started to back up out of the office, but she left completely with Finn at her side. The young man needed to buy a cart for the files and she needed to return to her guild hall for a report as quickly as possible. Perhaps a quick stop for a--no, she would much rather eat later once completely out of the city. "I think I almost pissed myself twice," she said to Finn, walking into the street. She brushed back her hair, trying to tame it from the wild times she just had. Rohesia regarded him from the corner of her eye, then turned to face him fully once they were far from the office, down the street.

"How did you spot me?" she asked, raising a brow and giving a smile. It was a serious question, she would have to be sure to avoid whatever it was that she had done wrong in the future or else, she might not be so lucky as this. She continued onward with him, looking for that cart. "I didn't think I was that poor... though I may be alright with it, got me out of that Castiel business. So, thanks, Finn. I owe you one."

"Now I have seven mouths to feed including myself--I better go look for a proper job," she snorted. He wouldn't get it and it was lame anyway. Rohesia held her hand out for a farewell, eager to be off and the share news, but also anxious. She wasn't sure how either guild master would take such an active role or if that was even part of her mission.

"It was your hair. I saw it through the vent." He admitted to her. "At first I thought you were another dead body. But then your hair moved... Dead things don't move." He gave her a simple look of appreciation and a handshake. "Good luck, my lady. And thank you for being such a large help... I hope we meet again."

With that, he turned and headed to purchase a cart... He later met back up with Kain, loaded the cart and desk, and set off to the Amick District. With several horses pulling them, they made it within six hours. It was a heavy load, so it was not quick by any means. But neither was it slow. Once they were at the castle, Finn left Kain to his business and went to find Aliza...

He found her in her room, playing with her kitten, Kitten.

"It was important." Kain returned the sarcasm. "When someone shows up on my doorstep with information on a supposed ally of mine, I listen. What they said was worth looking into... So I did." Kain grabbed the treaty from Vorlander and looked it over, but did not read it. Despite Vorlander's transgressions, this treaty was important. "Send for my wife." He told a nearby guard. It wasn't any more than a three minutes before he returned with Bethany. Kain kissed his wife and slid the contract back over to Vorlander.

"State the terms of this cease-fire so my wife can know." Kain had been pretending to read it, but he wanted to hear Vorlander say it as well. Nobody knew the contract better than him. After all, he had made it. Whatever Vorlander had done, this simply cease-fire was necessary. It still needed to be considered.

After that, Kain would talk to Vorlander about some more dire matters... Like his illegal activities and his lies, for instance.

Her fingers twirled in her hair relentlessly. The fact that it was long was obvious, perhaps a little too long when it reached down to her waist and stuck through vents during sneaking missions. She headed for the Guild's Teleportation Network which would take her four hours of travel, yet nearly all of Drathia to reach the hall. These were a blessing and a curse, she supposed. Rohesia could very well teleport on her own. She had done it twice on this mission and that was probably about all she would until another was assigned. Should she run into trouble that wasn't of the human variety, that was also a go-to, but not when her feet could take her somewhere. She didn't want to be as she had that night with Victor, rushing through every single teleport...

Rohesia headed Northwest to the closest safe location that housed one of the teleporters of the network. It took her a great deal of time on foot, but she was able to rest as she pleased and in one of those moments of pause, pulled her trousers back on. The agent was greeted, told the phrase and she was whisked off a great distance before she had to walk again. This time, in the mountains. She had forgotten about that and felt a little bit of a chill, not much to warrant a panic of a life and death situation if she went outside. Besides, she was almost there. Taking the trek to the guild hall as she had a few times before, Rohesia crossed her arms and waited for the entryway to open.

It did and she skipped on in to her guild as if she hadn't just murdered, spied, been arrested and then let go. She remembered that she had to find Mercer to be given something, which was hard to forget when promised a gift as she really looked forward to those, and quickly made her business with the guild masters known. It was after the words left her mouth, that she wanted to know where they were and that she was on her way to them, she thought about swallowing her tongue so she wouldn't have to give a bad report.

Dragon inched forward slowly, trying not to catch the attention of Sunnifa when Lannister and Kelevra had it all. His tongue rolled out of his mouth and slathered the girl's arm in drool before taking the small and unsatisfying piece of jerky from her. It was the same thing he had done to Bethany, only, he had not tried to pick her up. "Uugghh," Sunnifa moaned, falling into a crouch, she put her head on her shoulder and let her hands brush the blood soaked earth. Her head flopped, hair hiding her face and making her eyes blink rapidly to keep it from them. Either she had suddenly fallen ill, or she mimicked what Dragon had been doing moments earlier. Her head rolled the other way and her dull expression was aimed at Lannister. "You are so boring. Your leg is annoying. Me and Kele will ride and you stay with pretty over here..."

She gestured with her middle finger, merely saying this for not wanting to stand around and listen to their conversation. "Help my a** to sleep," she muttered. Dragon agreed with a snort, finding it funny, rather than sharing the concern and foul feelings. Sunnifa hopped up to her feet and jogged over to the dragon, diving onto his back and wiggling herself up the rest of the way on her stomach. They could be leaving anytime now to finish the mission, get Lannister some new pants, put Alexandre in a home and have more fun with Kelevra. She supposed she should add Varian and Victor into the mix, they were probably way ahead of them now and that made her grumpy.

Then she spotted her waterskin. Sunnifa had to slide all the way back down Dragon and walk all the way back over to Alexandre and take it from her. She was finished with it--she snatched up the skin and went to tuck it away.

in Drathia with Lannister and Nebula, Kelevra and Alexandre.

“You have a lot of suspicions, and you have a lot of material to make one very suspicious.”

“And as I told Kain, no proof. I have suspicious papers galore, but no poof!” He handed the last box of files over to the guard and smiled. Let them act as the damn beast of burden. He’d been putting up with them all for the last two days. And he’d been pleasant about it. They’d been assholes.

Vorlander thought he knew all of the spies, had infiltrated everything. Nope. Aine made sure of that. Sneaky little witch. She had meant what she said, she didn’t trust Vorlander. He was too good to be true. Too seemingly eager to help despite what he said his motives were. She’d had him watched like a hawk in hopes of catching him up in something. They had plenty of evidence to give them reason to be suspicious, but not proof. Luca was thoroughly proud of her.

He was taken to Castle Viridian and told to wait in the hall with the guards holding the boxes while one of the men went to fetch Kain. All Luca could do was wait…Again.

Aine sat in Vorlander’s parlor for about as long as she could stand it. It was garish and awful and everything she hated about having wealth. Vorlander knew he had gold, he didn’t need to show it. At least as far as she was concerned. There was a knock on the door and she looked up to see Reilly enter.

“You look like hell.”

“I feel like it.”

“Port that much of a shock?”

“You could say that…” Her voice sounded dead and flat, even to her own ears.

He sat down across from her and raised a brow. “Well, would it cheer you up to know that Vorlander’s in deep s**t?”

“Maybe. What’d he do?”

“Everything you thought he was doing and couldn’t get proof of.”

That did put a smile on her lips. Though only for a moment. Her face was somber from one blink to the next “I have to talk to Kain.” She had to tell him about Droston.

“We’ll use the Bloodmoon transport chain. You’ll go to the Manor and get some food and get you cleaned up. Then send word to Lord Ecanis that you wish to speak with him. Should I send word about what it is?”

“The Coradons…I have news about my brother’s family I have to give him.” Reilly carefully patted her shoulder, figuring it was the worst…That they were all dead…That would be easier news to deliver. Before she knew it, she was being consistently transported once again. Good thing she had emptied her stomach already.

Kain was pulled away from the group by some other business. Vorlander and Bethany could discuss the contract in private, and Kain would just have to read it when he got back. "Do not sign anything until I return, my love." He had told her before setting off down the hall, following the guard. Near the front of the castle, Luca was waiting, as were a plethora of guards with boxes filled with paperwork.

"My apologies, Luca. I've caught Vorlander in a lie. Given that he named you his successor, I must investigate you as well. He trusts you with the entirety of his wealth... That alone is rather odd for a man like Vorlander." He stated, his expression neither one of anger or suspicion. "I trust you, Luca. But I can not be too careful. I trusted Vorlander as well until Finn returned from LaMarche with that girl."

He looked around at the boxes and told the guards to bring them to Kain's most trusted file keeper. A man that Castiel had hand-picked for the job, and he had proven himself more than loyal. Clever though he was, he had a habit of getting into fights with anyone badmouthing House Viridian... And now, House Ecanis. Given the delicate nature, Kain wanted him, and only him to be the one to look over all the documents. He had been there long before Vorlander showed up. He was one of the few people left that Kain could trust with this stuff.

The guards shuffled away and Kain looked to Luca. "I did not ask them to bring you to me, Luca. Just your files. So I assume you are here for some other reason."
