It is the year 7100 on the colossal planet, Gaia. It is a world very much unlike our own with advanced technology beyond the pollutants of Earth, magic thrumming beneath the surface, and watchful, powerful gods. But not everything is perfect in this beautiful place. Beings called Shadows sneak through fractures in the dimension’s walls from the dark realm ruled by the evil god, Grim. These vicious, often mindless beasts feed off of negative energy and chaos to grow larger and more sentient - intent on their master’s wicked whims.
But, there are heroines gifted with power of the goddess, created to stop these monsters and protect their people. Females known as Sparks are sent to the Temperance Facility to embrace their destinies. Here is where they learn how to access their powers through gathering in pairs; only with the help of another potential can they cast spells, operate certain vehicles, and summon beasts from another realm. Where alone they could only fail, with their partner they can eventually develop into the Guardians they were meant to be.

Girls from ages thirteen to eighteen are accepted into the academy after being tested for the spark. Being accepted into this facility is of great honor for families and the students. Upon arrival they are inserted into public dorms and enrolled into these classes: spells, dual vehicles, summoning, and operations. Roommates are selected at random until Potentials (students of the facility) discover their pairs - they may then share a room with their selected pair. Because a Potential’s power is somewhat dependant on the relationship of their partner, it is encouraged that they establish strong connections with their friends and roommates. A negative relationship can have detrimental effects to a pair’s power.
Shadows are often spotted at the academy and are rarely dealt with by professors and staff. They encourage that the students gain experience by fighting them by themselves. Shadows that enter the school are generally classified as L1 through L10, meaning that they are not excessively dangerous. However, when stronger and more malicious shadows show up on scene and the students find themselves unable to handle them, staff and available guardians will step in.
Temperance Facility is located on a small, man-made island tucked against the shores of Temperance City, which is the capital of Rowan. An ornate bridge connects the city and the campus. Also on the island is the Guardian Headquarters, located in its own building and separate from the facility. Guardians from headquarters often visit the students and act as mentors and guides. These older mentors’ jobs range from political body guards, spying and espionage, backing up the military, and cleaning out shadow nests.
