In the year 2148 man finally left the shelter of its solar sytem.
Within a short amount of time, twenty years to be exact. Humanity made contact with it's first extraterrestrial life form. They were to be called "The Secrii", they were reptilian in form, and much larger than the average human. The Secrii introduced them to the rest of the world so to speak. However despite the Secrii being responsible for Humanity's introduction the galactic neighborhood, the two species did not remain close. As Humanity grew, forging friendships with it's other neighbors, the Secrii grew jealous of the empire it began to forge. Being the warriors that they were they began to become increasingly aggressive towards humans. Closing their borders, attacking freighters, firing upon vessels. Until things finally exploded into war.
The Secrii invaded...
Being the child that Humanity was it stood little to no chance against the long evolved Secrii that challenged it. One system after another fell to the Secrii as they waged their onslaught upon the Humans. Luckily though, a miracle came to pass. Another race known as the Nargaskians thought it wise to come to the Humans aid. Now while the Secrii were much more advanced than the Humans, the Nargaskians were rivaled by no other in terms of technology. The tables had turned, and the Secrii begged for mercy, and being as Humans are quite foolish, they received it.
This would mark the end of the Sektor War.....but that was two centuries ago.
Much has changed in the time that has passed. Humanity has forged a thriving empire, thanks to the friendship it shares with the Nargaskians. Thanks to the sharing of technology, Humanity has finally been caught up to speed with the rest of space, or at least the bit it inhabits. Humans can thankfully fend for themselves now, and even have a reasonably loud voice when it comes to diplomatic affairs. However not all things are this lovely, new alliances are forming all over charted space, and tensions are high, but war has yet to break out, but if things continue to escalate as they are now then war is in the near future, and it is uncertain who will arise victorious should such an event occur.
Despite all this many other events of a disturbing nature are occurring. The Balmarv have closed their temple doors, The Qisyl plague is slowly spreading, and whispers of an unknown force that lay in uncharted space are becoming louder than ever.
But none of this should concern a smuggler like you...
A reptilian species based on the thesis of battle. They are not to be taken lightly. They are raised to be warriors and nothing less. They always try to have the last word in an argument, and have a very short temper. They despise humans for the outcome of the Sektor War. So don't expect them to be too chummy with any. Their home planet, Fynt, is about as close to their local star as Mercury is to the Sun. Fortunately for them their biological makeup makes them impervious to heat, as it does for every organism on the planet. Actually they crave heat, making cold environments not so ideal for them to survive. Technologically they are up to date with the standard. However they have very few natural resources so it takes a toll upon the citizens of their empire to stay so up to date. In turn this makes them even more aggressive, being they need to acquire new worlds in order to harvest it's resources. They're all around not very nice. The average Secrii soldier is about 8'4'' with a bulky build. Their jaw is in the same shape as a humans but contains razor sharp teeth.

Humans-
Your standard Earthlings. Earth finally gave up with its petty wars and resigned into one government. However there was much bloodshed in order to acquire this future. People called invalids were disposed of for the betterment of humanity. No humanity did not turn towards eugenics, but it disposed of those who it saw as a danger to it's cause without prejudice. Before venturing into space there was the time of the "Corporations" each nation of Earth was designated as it's own Corporation. Industry was controlled by the state, which was Earth as a whole at this point. Each Corporation was responsible for something different. One may be solely devoted to a certain resource and it's management, while another may be entirely responsible for law enforcement. People would be employed by these Corporations depending on which field they were interested in. Civilian activities continued as normal and this became known as a Golden Age for all Humanity. Once they delved into space into space however things changed. Becoming entwined within the vast economics and diplomacy of space, the Corporations of Earth were forgotten. The system was modified, and to in a way the Corporations are still around, now being planets rather than nations, but this isn't entirely true. No one planet is responsible for any particular resource, but some focus more upon one than another depending on how abundant they are with said resource. As a whole Humanity has come a long way, ridding itself of many diseases and increasing it's lifespan drastically. It's allies have kept brought it up to speed with technology, and it has a vast supply of natural resources.
Nargaskians-
The most technologically advanced race in the quadrant, only rivaled by the Sullain. They tend to be a bit on the pompous side always looking down on other races for not being as advanced. They respect Humans in a weird way for showing mercy to the Secrii, but overall their attitude is no different towards them. Their homeworld is covered in a thick atmosphere of Phosphorous giving the appearance of fog from orbit. They have a small fleet but it is still a force to be reckoned with due to how advanced they are. Rather than focus solely on their military though they choose to look more at domestic affairs. Due to the Nargaskians atmosphere of Phosphorous they cannot breathe oxygen as we do. However they have created a special inhibitor implanted on the backs of their necks that allow them to leave their atmosphere. The average Nargaskian is 7'2'' with albino hair and skin. They don't appear to show signs of aging, and show very faint signs of scales. Their empire is very prosperous due to everyone wishing to acquire their technology.
Dorai-
The Dorai are the greedy, money hungry, economic superpower of the quadrant. They live in a system that is practically made out of resources, and just so happen to have the same attribute on all of their colonized planets as well. They have morals unlike other species of this style, once they've made a deal they stick to it. However, money does still remain supreme in their life thesis so if an investment isn't paying out then they won't hesitate to toss it in the trash. They have recently taken advantage of the Pseujin and Xechion dispute by selling arms, Sueridium, and items of importance to both sides. Their homeworld is called Au'Ag. The average Dorai is 6'2 has a slightly less long lifespan compared to the new Human lifespan, and appears to have the exact physiology as a Human other than they have pure blue skin. Militarily they are nonexistent, however they are so entwined in the economies of other empires that no one would dare to invade them for fear of bottoming out.
Pseujin & Xechion-
These two races are one in the same except for one minor difference, eye color. Pseujin have a red iris, where as Xechion have a gray iris. This difference is what has caused nearly a millennium of fighting, that and the fact that they can't stop arguing over who's fault it is for their homeworld being destroyed. Their homeworld before it was destroyed was called Fihn it was a tropical paradise. When it existed the two races coincided together peacefully. However for some strange reason a massive natural disaster took hold of the planet ending in a massive earthquake that caused the planet to implode. What truthfully happened probably died along with the planet, but now they both blame each other for the destruction of paradise and have vowed the destruction of one another. The average Xechion and Pseujin are 6'3'', have claw like nails, peachy skin, red or gray iris's, and pointed ears. Think of them as Wood Elves of old, Human lore. They are both indifferent towards outsiders as they are too consumed with their own conflict to form actual opinions. Of course this cannot be said for all members of these races, those who have been outside the conflict for an extended period of time, are sure to have their own opinions of others.
Sullain-
The only species able to match the Nargaskians with naturally acquired technology. Their homeworld is called Prime, but most have taken to calling it Glass as Sullain architecture is...odd. The race itself at one time looked and acted exactly as Humans do now but became obsessed with technological advancement rather than exploration and sought to better themselves as a whole by adding mechanical parts in order to avoid Human setbacks such as aging and disease. They are now divided into four classes. Fourth generation Sullain which is compromised of completely mechanical lifeforms, third generation Sullain which are partially biological, partially mechanical, second generation Sullain which are the same as third generation except instead of exterior mechanical changes they have purely interior alterations, and finally first generation Sullain which are completely mechanical lifeforms like their fourth generation counterparts. However First Generation Sullain are completely made of nanites rather than metal appendages. These Sullain give off the appearance of being human or any other race of choosing. Their fleet is composed of Self-Sustaining ships that are also composed entirely of nanites. While viewed as machines, most Sullain function as any other life-form with emotions and feelings, this in their eyes, makes them perfect. Though they bare no ill-will towards Humans, they are in an alliance with the Secrii, mainly to counter the alliance of the Nargaskians, their bitter rivals.
Hylora-
The Hylora are known as slavers to most as they obviously own a vast slaving market. Humans of course outlawed slavery of any race within its borders so they don't much care for them. The race which the Hylora have enslaved and make their profit from are the Iltumv. The Hylora homeworld is known as Hyr and is a vast desert with massive amounts of water deep below the surface causing them to be an underground society. The Hylora bare no deep hatred for the Iltumv it was merely profitable at the time to enslave them as they were a less developed race and were easily taken over. The Hylora have spread the Iltumv onto several worlds for breeding purposes and use them for slave labor, forced conscription, and general servitude. Aside from Humans doing no business with them the Hylora do quite well economically with other empires. Being as Humans have no business with them and even encourage others to do the same, the Hylora have allied themselves with the Secrii. They appear as a giant lion with human posture and opposable thumbs. They have a massive space fleet of outdated Warships and Trade vessels, equipt with Nargaskian technology that allows them to put up a fight. They're like a glass cannon. They are on average 8'4'' with the same build as the Secrii and have the same lifespan as Humans.
Qisyl-
The Qisyl Empire borders no one. That being said it is hard to call the Qisyl Empire an empire at all. Ninety percent of the population is addicted to drugs. The only people who aren't are the few political figures who keep the fragile frame that holds this so-called empire together, and drug makers that keep developing new drugs to keep the people happy. They have absolutely no military leaving this empire open for the taking but the drug problem is so significant that no other empire would want it. This being said they are quite rich. They dont just deal in narcotic drugs, but painkillers, pharmaceuticals, hallucinogens, whatever drug anyone needs they can provide it. The homeworld of the Qisyl is called Mang. Long ago they were actually a stable people, and quite imperialistic too. However at some point they went to war with another empire that released a deadly disease into the population and they had to create drugs to fight it but as it adapted the were required to create more in a never ending stream of biotics. By that time some had begun to manipulate the biotics that had been introduced before turning them into terrible narcotics slowly making everyone addicted and unaware of what was going on around them. The disease from before still exists to this day, however it is kept under control from the constant flow of drugs into the market. It causes blindness, and the loss of the use of one's extremities. Eventually profuse bleeding begins and the host dies of organ failure. But, that is only without treatment, and it's not believed to be contagious anymore, just a natural part of Qisyl biology at this point. The average Qisyl is 5'8'' and can have any number of skin tones, eye colors, and hair colors.
Monfae-
Little is known of the Monfae other than they are collected around the blackhole near the middle of the quadrant and appear to guard it and worship it. Their homeworld is the closest of all the other planets to the blackhole and is called M'ynun. Little is known of their history other than an ancient prophecy of their makers being on the other side of a portal which they believe to be the black hole and that they must guard it from all outsiders until they return to bring them to "ascended paradise". The Monfae tend to stay out of other empires affairs which is probably why they haven't joined any alliances. They are peaceful towards other races unless they come beyond a certain point within their borders at which point they will without hesitation destroy the ship. While it would be believed that they are out-of-date in tech, they have ways of keeping up to date in technology. The average Monfae is 4'7'' has a human appearance other than their purely white eyes, and spikes protruding from their spine.
Vesk-
The Vesk used to maintain a massive empire that stretched far out of the quadrant into uncharted space. For unknown reasons they lost all but their homeworld. The are completely isolationist, allowing no one to go past what is labeled as "The Killzone" of their planet. From what is remembered by Balmarv preservers the Vesk are on average 6'4'', look identical to humans, and live to be about 80. Other than that no one knows.
Iltumv-
The Iltumv consist of a vast number of races that originate from one planet known as Ulk. They were enslaved by the Hylora five centuries ago and have had three major rebellions since then, all being subdued due to lack of technology. After the last rebellion each Iltumv was made to wear a slave collar that causes harm if they try to rebel. Each collar has a unique key that is given to the owner in the case they wish to free the Iltumv, usually someone from another species, other than Hylora. Their are three main castes of Iltumv with several smaller ones, but the main three are Phall, Yill, and Jian. Phall appear to be giant panthers about 7'1'', the Yill appear to be giant wolves about 6'8'' , and Jian appear to be giant bears about 8'4'' . Each has its own advantage that the Hylora exploit to their needs. The Phall are incredibly fast making them great for construction and military like the Jian, the Yill are incredibly cunning making them more likely to be house servants, and the Jian are incredibly strong making them prime for construction and military. The sub-castes are all interbred between the three main castes. Each getting slight advantages of from it's parent caste, but not as severe. The Hylora mockingly call them the Iltumv empire as they are spread onto multiple worlds to breed.
Kyll'Shyk-
The Kyll'Shyk are the peace loving sort of the quadrant as I suppose every quadrant needs someone like that. They are adrogynous, meaning only one sex. They are asexual as for means of reproduction. They all look the same, have no distinctive features other than they are tall, and have pure black skin, with pure yellow eyes. Since achieving space flight they have always tried to spread the message of peace and serenity urging other empires at war to cease their petty conflicts. Currently they are in heated talks with the Dorai over fueling the Pseujin-Xechion conflict while at the same time trying to ease the tensions everywhere else. Peace is their overall goal but at the same time they are not afraid to obliterate a threat to achieve that goal. Their fleet consists of one ship. A class of its own, they call it the Negotiator. It carries a weapon created by exiled Nargaskian techs that is capable of isolating a particular genetic code and eradicating it. At the same time these techs were able to develop a near indestructible hull. This ship is a force of it's own to be reckoned with. While this is the most powerful ship in the quadrant no doubt it is also the least used, only being used once to [REDACTED]. It is seen as a last resort only to be used if something is a danger to the threat of existence itself. While they strive for peace they understand that other people are entitled to deal with their own affairs, they more or less try to keep species from wiping each other out. On average a Kyll'Shyk is 7'4'' and lives to be 120.
Balmarv-
The Balmarv are a very mysterious race that lives on the edge of the quadrant. They live to preserve the history of all that has happened. They are quite ancient as they don't age but apparently they reproduce very slowly or have complications with reproduction as they are a rather small race. If there is any knowledge to be acquired they are the ones to see. They seem to know more on the Vesk, and the Monfae than others, and possibly what caused the destruction of the Xechion,Pseujin homeworld. On average they are 6'5'' and as said before are immortal or at least they're believed to be. The have purple skin with deep blue eyes, and incredibly long appendages for fingers.
Minor Races
The L'ia
The L'ia come in two forms, though only one is sentient. This sentient form, called the Falsir in the L'ia tongue, appear as humanoids made of plants. As the seeds of the L'ia are far flung and the species "copies" DNA to choose its form, a Falsir L'ia will often take the shape of the predominant life form of the planet it lands on. Variable in size and shape, the L'ia would be perfect shapeshifters if it weren't for the fact they can only appear as plants.
The L'ia speak of a lost homeworld many many years in the past. Their people were the trees of that world, and when it exploded they feared death. A small handful of seeds made it to L'ia-Mir, the new L'ia homeworld. Since then the L'ia have secretly been spread all over the galaxy and universe. A L'ia starts life as an extremophile seed. Riding on solar winds until it lands on a planet where it can take root. Using the nutrients and DNA of surrounding plants, the L'ia mimics itself as any other plant in the woods. These are the Siraf, or "people of peace" in the language of L'ia. However, sometimes a seed will land where it takes nutrients from non-plant material. Near corpses of animals where they have biodegraded to become nutrients in the soil or the like. In this case, the L'ia seed will attempt to mimic the creature as well as nearby plant life. The result is a Falsir or "Wandering People" in L'ia. The Falsir appear as whatever creature or creatures they attempted to mimic, only made entirely of plant matter. These Falsir are usually alone on their worlds, and feel a calling to return to L'ia-mir. Falsir culture is nomadic out of necessity, often seen as demons or evil spirits by superstitious tribes on the planets they land on.
Often times the L'ia are captured and used for experimentation.
Most commonly the drug syndicates capture L'ia Falsir to have them mimic narcotic plants. For an easily-movable mobile drug lab.
Viralians
The Viralians are a species of nomadic humanoids that worship Sueridium. Not only that they live off the stuff as well, consuming it to sustain their life force. This being so their physique is enhanced making them physically stronger than most races, other than the Secrii, and the Hylorans. The relationship they share with Sueridium gives them a great sense of empathy allowing them to read others emotions, but not control them. However most other races in the quadrant dislike Viralians simply because they find them to be a nuisance with there consuming of Sueridium, and how they worship it like a god. Also because they drain Sueridium from they objects, and people they touch, causing said objects to be drained of energy, and said people to be drained of life. There are no aging effects involved, they simply just lose their life force at a slow pace causing them to eventually die. This forces the Viralians to wear special suits so that they can be in close proximity to people of other races, and their devices. As stated before they are nomadic, as they have no homeworld, and nobody likes them well enough to allow them to settle down. Most are scattered across the quadrant searching for a home. Unfortunately some races take advantage of the negative aspects of their race using them as torture devices on prisoners in order to extract information.
If you want to add another race, then feel free to! Just clear it with me first, by making a description and brief history so I can make sure nothing conflicts! Also pick a place for it on the map in uncharted space.

Sueridium- Sueridium is required for nearly everything. It is the source of power in the space age. Anything from warp travel, to shield generators, to state of the art weaponry, it requires Sueridium.
ADDED TO EXPLAIN VIRALIANS:- Sueridium is present in very minor amount in the biological makeup of all races in this universe. However, it is completely essential to the life of the being it exists in. Therefor if the Sueridium is drained from the body by a Viralian the being will die. Of course that means all of the Sueridium, the body will make more if enough remains. The process of it being drained is excruciatingly painful.
Shielding- During this age, there are two types of shielding commonly used throughout charted space.
Phase Shielding: Most commonly used throughout space, this type of shielding uses polarized light to deflect certain wavelengths of energy.
Thoron Shielding: Rather than using polarized light, this method reflects energy via atoms in a supercharged state. This has been found to be more effective than phase shielding, however it is incredibly costly to the power supply of a ship, which is why it more commonly found on the capital ships of fleets, and massive cruisers rather than small frigates, or freighters.
Weaponry- Most standard weaponry on a ship as to be assumed uses charged energy particles set to a certain wavelength, ( aka Lasers / Phasers ) however for heavy weaponry projectiles are used to create cascade reactions in order to create immense damage. ( Torpedoes / Missiles ) As for the common handgun, many standard heated plasma projectiles weapons are used. ( Think Mass Effect )
Armor- Armor is not a common commodity in this universe. In the private sector, one suit is incredibly expensive, you might as well invest in a small freighter. However in the military, armor is standard issue. This goes to show how effective it really is. For an example, if you were shot in the chest without armor then you would most likely die unless you receive a miracle that day. With armor however, you would most likely only get some first degree burns, or a broken rib. Now for a limb, you would probably lose it without armor, while with armor the same scenario as before would ensue. While armor is not impenetrable it does keep you alive more times than not. But, if someone were to unload a Gatling Gun into you, you'd still die, it'd just be a slower process.
Oh and for the record, there are many more systems, planets, etc. than labeled on the map. I only labeled key areas for the sake of time. The areas labeled are the Home Systems of every nation in the known galaxy. Other than that, I labeled the ship's current location, and areas that will place us on a story arc. Each one is different, it's up to you to decide where we go. I'll also be throwing out GM messages here and there for potential sidequests and such.

I'm accepting profile concepts at thus time for people not in the crew. These people will wind up on the ship at the station one way or another. Feel free to be out there, some ideas thrown around have been an ambassador a service droid, travelers etc. Get creative, just don't get Mary Sue. I'm only accepting 4 of these. It's first come first serve in the sense that the first 4 ideas accepted get the spots. So pming me with an idea doesn't necessarily give you a spot. These don't necessarily have to fill, but you are racing against two things, other people, and the rp itself.
