Deeper. Deeper. Deeper. The tears had subsided and the drugs were dragging him down. further and further into the darkness he fell until finally he had sunk as low as he could. His body felt so relaxed and blissfully happen, his mind fogged up, everything lost to him. and then something snapped him out. Not the cute blond before him; not the sound of her sweet voice; not the close kissable proximity; it was the snore that ruptured the silence, knocking about in the back of his throat.

He shot up suddenly, his eyes flying open! Everything spun around as he breathed sharp, eyes shooting right to the person before him. CRAP! She heard! No-no-no, he didn't snore! Just keep believing he didn't! didn't snore... didn't snore... didn't-- well, he could fool himself well enough, but not her.

He sunk back against the wall, blinked owlishly at her. "Ah... h-hey..." He got out, swallowing hard. "S-Sorry. I didn't mean to fall asleep." He couldn't even remember the act of falling asleep. who could? His body ran cold, his skin shivered, and up his arms went around himself. "And I didn't mean to cause that scene. I swear, I just crossed the streets. They just started shooting at me!" He still felt terrible. His eyes gazed up to the shattered windows. Dear lord... "You could try duct taping that... as a temporary solution to the draft...?" Rather, he would say call in a specialist, or give him the supplies and he would fix it, but the supplies and knowledgeable persons no longer existed.

Amanda had wanted to laugh so badly right now. Just because of the fact she was hearing this guy snoring. It had felt like it had been a long time since she heard that sound. It was also to the point where she had thought it was not something that was done anymore. So hearing it made her smile a bit. Strange thing to miss in a way but then again Amanda was not the most normal one in this world. Even before everything that had happened she had been odd back then as well. She watched him react to her being close to him. Saw the blinking eyes and she blinked her eyes back as well. "It's alright. People tend to do that from time to time.Fall asleep. I just wanted to make sure you didn't suffer from major blood loss or had any injeries before sleeping."She spoke as she sat down across from him. Her legs sitting in a indian sort of sitting style.

"As for the scene well I was sort of thinking it was around that time for it happen. It had been a few weeks since I last found myself in the middle of something."She spoke as she ran her fingers though her blond hair. Her eyes following over to where the windows were shattered. "That would require a lot more duck tape."She spoke with a bit of humor in her voice. "Though if you don't mindself asking. Just what's your name?"She asked him in a curious sort of voice. "Mine's Amanda."She added as a second thought as she placed her black back pack in her lap and was unzipping just a little. "Now I wonder do I still have that one thing or did I trade it already."She muttered softly to herself looking for one of those emergancy space saver blankets.

Tristan blinked. Major... injuries? Blink. Blink. He glanced down at himself, touching his chest. "I'm... not sure anymore..." He muttered, reaching down and gripping his shirt before pulling it up over ihis head and laying it aside. He examined himself just in case, frowning a bit. "None that I can feel or see... but I'm..." He blinked again. "still under the influence of drugs." He blinked again. Why was he blinking so much? Probably because she did. she did have really cute lashes to play follow the leader to.

He looked up to her eyes, smiling a bit. She really was pretty. And here she was, asking for his name and everything. He felt far too special having all her attention all to himself. He gently reached to take her hand, holding it up and bowing his head to her. "Tristan Aswell." He offered to her.

And then a thought hit him. DANTE! He shot up, looking around. "The blond man! With the greased hair! Where is he!?" He knew him! But not form this worlds! Alternate realities and universes sucked when it came to all of this! Maybe the man remembered him? Which meant this was the future of his world... God, please, no. then what of Lottie and Winnifred? He had to know!!

Amanda had looked over at him as he pulled it up and off of himself. Not what she was expecting but still a nice surprise in a sense. "Well I don't see any at the moment. Or at least not on the outside."She spoke in a soft voice. She would of blush if it had not been for the fact she had been a medic at one point in her life and worked in the military hospital. Though she was curious on how in the world he had gotten a hold of drugs in a world like this. If she was thinking of the sort that people got high off of. "Well be careful of whatever drugs your on. Hopefully they don't have any addictive properities."She spoke as she had noticed he was blinking his eyes just after she was done blinking hers.

To her since not really that many people were in the diner at the moment she didn't see why she could not spend a little bit of time getting to know more faces. More names. She had even smiled back when he had smiled over at her. Which that caused her to blush just a tad bit. It had been a long time since any one had given her a real smile. So it was very nice change of pace for her. She took a hold of his hand and heard him offer his name. The way he had done so had reminded her of something she had read out of a book. Though then she had looked back down into her black back pack and found the item she had been looking for but didnt take it. She would use it later on if she needed to.

"He's not here right now. I think he might of gone across the street to sleep or something."She spoke after thinking for a few moments. After all the motel across the street was the only place she had seen so far in which people would sleep. "Though are you sure it's a good to go find him now?"She asked as she tilted her head to the side. "After all you still under the invluence of drugs."

Tristan blinked on his own this time, looking a bit dumb for a moment. "Oh..." He breathed. Well, he could wait. He was scary looking; no need to wake him up and force the answers from him. Easily his beautifully toned body back down he sighed, dropping his head back and shutting his eyes. "Guess I will have to wait..." He breathed deep, tired eyes not even attempting to open. He wet his lips, then yawned into his arm. Oooohhhh! so tired!!

Tears built up, but none of them fell. He just stretched his body out like a limber little feline and smiled rather contently. "Mmmh.. addictive. Probably. Good thing it's harder to come by than I'm willing to go out of my way to search for." He murmured. Only one place, and it hurt more than it helped.

He reached a hand out to press against the wall, laughing as he helped himself back up. "Amanda.." He breathed, testing her name out on his tongue. "Do you have any water? It'll help sober me up." Please say there was clean water... please say there was clean water...

Aiden had fallen asleep in the bed room but was awoken by the sounds of gun fire. She had ran to the bathroom and hidden there with her hands over her ears. Guns where one of the few things that still scared her in this world. Soon, however, it grew quite, to quite and the girl came out of hiding. She made her way back outside and slowly creep around tot he other side of the building. She made sure no one was around then tightly gripped her bags strap and dashed along the shadows back toward the diner. She stopped at the corner and looked around again then made her way across the street a ways down from everything. She pushed the door open and stood there looking. She panted a little out of breath from running from the far side of the motel.

Amanda had nodded her head when he went oh. After all she knew for some it was hard to keep track of time. More so if they were high on something. “Waiting is not so bad. After all the good things supposedly come to those who do wait.”She spoke with a grin on her features. Her fingers ran though her blonde hair as he closed his eyes. She could tell that tears were building up but she didn’t know as to why. Still though she would do what she could to make someone happy.

“Well good to know that your not willing to go that far to get whatever it is.”She spoke as she looked around the diner. Though she was thinking on raiding a military base at some point. Which if she was to do that she would be able to find something interesting in there. That much she was sure of.

She had blinked her eyes as he spoke her name. It was almost as if he was testing it or something. “I got some in here. “She spoke softly as she went into her bag and pulled out a bottle of water. “Never really go anywhere without having some sort of food or water to last me for awhile. “She spoke as she got up and handed it over to him. She usually kept some sort of food and water since she never knew when the next time she would find herself around where food and water were located. Not to mention she had spent a lot of her time before being in this diner on her own. No one else to really help her out.

Tristan watched as the crystalline bottle was pulled out. Pure, possibly irradiated water. Issue was, how many bottled waters were left in a world like this? He frowned, looking for it, to her. tears. No-no-no-no! She wasn't allowed to cry! He breathed sharply, pushing off the wall and crouching before her, gently reaching a hand out to caress her cheek and wipe away any stray tears that may fall. "Madam..." He breathed, looking so sad. Gentlemen should never cause a lady to cry, not matter what.

He paused, then carefully enclosed his free hand around her hand and the bottle. "I am sorry for asking. I shouldn't be in a world like this." With clean water on such short supply, it should go to the women and children first. The men should be the ones taking the hard road. They were stronger; they were tougher. Not saying a woman could not be, but it was how the roles ran in his head. He had nothing but respect for women, and yet his flirtatious spirit urged him to take the main roll.

He brought the bottle carrying hand up, laying his lips gently upon the back of it. "Thank you for showing just how kind and generous a person can be, even in dark days like this." He smiled gently to her, then looked to his shirt. Irradiated water or not, he'd have to wash this. Maybe there was a prison nearby? they always had running water and electricity. You couldn't have anything fail in placed like that, after all. Not when it could mean the corrupt getting loose and only causing more confusion and distress upon society. He wondered if he could make his way into one? Or if the State still had control of it?

                          --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---

Maxwell stood, knife in hand lined with fresh blood, ready to kill this total stranger for any information he could get on the people across the lot, and it occurred to him that he'd changed, and not in a way that he was particularly proud of. Soon after the world fell apart, Max realized that the only way for a gentle person like him to survive in a world like this was to find the toughest, meanest, most ******** up guy out there and get him to like you. This in mind, he'd spent most of his time in the wastes with large raider camps, doing their dirtywork, cleaning up their messes... it was no damn picnic, but it had kept him alive. With an actual visible shake of his head, he broke himself out of his little stroll down memory lane; he had s**t to do, and this was no time to allow himself to wander off.

Lately, it was happening more and more, it seemed. Several weeks previous, he'd received an injury in the line of duty. It had almost killed him, but he managed to pull himself out of it and make a full recovery. Even so, since then he'd found his mental capacity to have been somewhat... diminished. Problem solving and strategy were no problem, probably because they tied into the animal side of his brain, but frequently he found himself almost dazing out, completely lost in his psyche. It wasn't helping keep him together in this situation, that was for damn sure. He listened carefully to the Scarman's infortmation, then opened his mouth to whisper again, to try and extract more out of him, but before he could utter a word, a single gunshot shattered the silence, making him jump slightly.

Knife still firmly in place, he glanced over his shoulder out of the still-open door to the small room. Mephisto was at attention, his one remaining eye fixed on the entryway to the hotel, hackles raised; it always made Max anxious when the animal was spooked, since it happened so rarely, and now was no exception. It seemed strange for anyone in the area to only shoot once, unless something stopped them from taking additional shots... again, his intensely vivid imagination took over, and he imagined a shadowy, frightened figure crouched in an alleyway somewhere, taken by surprise, and only able to get off one round before being overwhelmed by monsters of the waste... they were out there, alright. Most of them were human as could be, but they were monsters in their own right, and he'd seen the face of it up close. Again, he blinked hard, trying to get his thoughts in order, a small voice inside reminding him politely that every second he hesitated, the less control he had over the extremely dangerous man in front of him, and that it had already been several seconds.

                          'This... is not good.'

[[Shortshortshort. Trying to allow for action though; don't wanna skip too much.]]

Dante De Stephano
Where: Diner - Wearing: [ Attire ] - With: Alone

The second the gunshot sounded Dante went into action! Now, you see, there was a reason why people told their hostages to keep their hands above their heads, besides the idea that they could grab a weapon. Dante was about to present a perfect example. His right hand shot up, gripping the b*****d by his wrist to stop him from slitting his throat. His left hand swung back, threatening to smack the guy in the face. He didn't hit him; too much energy would be wasted for something that wasn't necessary.

Taking the moment, his left hand came back, gripping the man's hand and bending forward, he shoved his a** back, forcing the b*****d right off his feet. One good twist of the man's wrist at the same time, and the momentum and the man's weight were enough on their own to send him flying right over Dante.

Dante never let go of his wrist. He was above him in a moment's notice, dropping his foot down hard on the man's neck as he pulled up on his arm, forcing it at an odd angle. No doubt this guy would be feeling that. All the tendons would overextend; and all it would take was one swift punch of kick and he could easily snap the man's arm in half. "I could just rip the knife out of your hand. I'll give you a chance to play nice, first. Drop it and I might give you a chance."

                          _ Jamie
                          _ Mood: Jovial.
                          _ Currently: Getting dressed.
                          --------------------------------------------------------
Jamie was happier than he'd been in a long time. Elated, in fact. After years of scavving just to stay alive, he'd finally found a place that was warm, welcoming, raider-free, and with hot food to boot. It was hard to believe it was actually real. He didn't mind, either, that it was a place that needed defending; he had plenty of practice at that, and anyway it was nice to have people that relied on him, even a little. This all in mind, once he'd finished cleaning up the lot with Ollie, he washed up and began to settle down for the night. Sleep, he knew, would be good for him, but he was way to jacked up to relax, so instead he took up a position in a booth near the door, playing idly with an old, weathered deck of cards to occupy his mind. After a little while, as darkness began to set in, he looked up as the owner approached him and slid what appeared to be a bundle of clothes across the tabletop toward him. He looked at them appraisingly for a second, then up at Oliver with a grateful smile. His own clothes were looking more than a little worse for the wear, soaked in blood and dirt, and doing very little to keep him warm.

                          "Hey, thanks."

It was a little strange, taking clothes from an almost-stranger, but he was thankful nonetheless, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly while Ollie stammered an explanation. For the life of him, he couldn't figure out why he seemed to make this man so nervous, after all, he'd taken control of the kitchen earlier, and looked to have the run of the place on lockdown... so then why in the world was it Jamie who put him on guard? He considered this, coming to the conclusion that as one of the newest arrivals, he was still basically a stranger, and were it not for the lack of bullets in his gun, for all Oliver knew he could be a murderous psychopath... who risked his life to protect a diner full of people he'd just met... whatever. It did remind him, however, that he was ill-prepared to do any sort of defending with his weapon in its current state. Before Ollie could walk away, he spoke up, clambering out of the booth to change his clothes as he did so.

"I dunno if this is something you can do anything about, but I am seriously lacking in firepower. You wouldn't happen to have any ammo or a spare weapon I could use for the night, would you?"

As he talked, he unabashedly removed his blood-soaked clothes, leaving his skivvies, and began pulling on the shirt and clean pants that had been given him. They fit pretty well, fortunately, and would do a lot to keep him from freezing while on watch.

"It's just that I used what was left in my gun during that last shitstorm..."

A small laugh, part embarrassment, part true humor, escaped him as he pulled the shirt over his head.

"I'd make a pretty shitty guard at the moment. Stitches, unarmed, probably still in shock, but I can't ******** tell. I guess I could always just throw myself at any intruders, take them on barehanded."

He smirked at Ollie, hoping a little bit of joking around would break the tension. The place was a ******** disaster, and in no small part because of him. Those assholes hadn't followed him, per se, and the little asian kid had technically led them over, but still, he couldn't help but feel a little bit responsible for each and every broken window.
