Kain nodded his head at Maddison's question "I was part of a TIER 1 team before I was thrown in I know how to kill easily so you aren't much of a threat to me" he said moving close to her after she puked. He lifted her head and let it lay in her lap "I'm going to pick you up and take you back to the diner you need to sleep badly" he said lifting her up and putting her over his back military style and walking her out of the woods towards the diner.

Maddison nodded her head and hung off him like a rag doll trying not to throw up again. She mentally high fived herself knowing she wasn't going to get killed today, or at least Kain wasn't going to kill her, that meant he was going to keep helping her. She put her hand over her mouth and tried to keep herself from blacking out with the bouncing. She fought him a bit to get down when they got to the doors, she didn't want the others to know how weak she had gotten "Can you please put me down before we get in there" She asked as politely as she could

Questionable Dabbler

              User Image

He'd worked up a bit of a sweat digging graves - the ground was packed solid here, and it was hard to get down past the first few inches. So, despite the chill in the air he shouldered off his shirt and draped it over a nearby branch before resuming his work, having to put most of his weight down on the shovel before he could get it to cut through the soil. Goddamnit. Reminded him of the time he'd started digging up his garden, trying to coax life into earth that was just about as welcoming as a bag full of nails.

Of course, the results in this case were considerably less rewarding than a bumper potato crop.

When the graves were finally dug, he set the shovel aside, wiped his forehead off on the hanging sleeve of his shirt, and headed back to pick up the bodies. He found Jamie there, kneeling to retrieve the ammunition from the dead men.

"Hey," He caught the man's attention, gesturing back over his shoulder sheepishly. "You, uh, feel up to helping me haul these guys over that way? Y'don't have to, if you ain't feelin' well 'nough to - " Jamie didn't let him finish, though, and after some brief coordination they were hauling the first body back towards the graves - Ollie holding on to the man's shoulders while Jamie picked up his feet. They switched for the second one because the feet job was considerably more pleasant than having to practically hump a stinking torso all the way across the lot. On the third, seeing as neither of them felt very much like doing it, they just grabbed a foot each and dragged the poor ******** across the concrete.

There was only one shovel, so after Oliver managed to convince Jamie that he shouldn't be tossing dirt until he was fully recovered, he sent the man back to the diner - pausing, momentarily, to watch the sway of his long hair as he walked off. Then the evening breeze started nipping at his bare arms and chest, so back to work it was.

It was a little while later when he re-joined the others in the diner - the sky darkening now, and the clouds roiling lowest to the horizon perhaps showing some lukewarm yellow glow that might have hinted at a sunrise. He had a pair of jeans and a dark gray henley bundled under his arm, both of which he slid towards Jamie.

"Gets kinda chilly in here at night, so... " He shrugged, reaching for his red apron. "So yeah. 'specially seein' as we're down a window or two."

Well, whatever. Jamie invited her in. He wasn't a huge fan of that idea, but well.. whatever. It wasn't his place. If they all got stabbed in their sleep, not his fault. He was the one that wanted to shoot her while he had the chance. licking his lip the second he pulled the smoke from his mouth and flicked the burnt out stick aside and started heading inside.

Jamie and Ollie were getting to work on the corpses. As long as Jamie didn't break the makeshift stitches, fine, though he really should be sitting down. He sniffed and stepped back inside the diner, past the bubbling Asian, across the sharps of shattered glass, and down in front of his poor cup of coffee.

He gripped the small porcelain cup, sipping from the disgusting mixture with the steadiest of hands. Why bother cleaning the blood from his face and hair right now? As much as it would make him look more cuddly on the outside than he was on the inside, he really didn't care all that much right now. He probably should... what if one of those bastards had AIDs?

... Then they more than likely would have already been dead by now.

... Thank you Nuclear Holocaust for clearing out 90% of the most ridiculous diseases.

Adeline sighed as her breathing slowly returned to it's normal rate, the girl rubbed her neck where the scarred stranger had restrained her. Thoughts of a sad past clouded the girls mind. Pathetic she mused at her own helpless state. The second stranger received at first an icy cold glare but Adeline's expression softened noticeably as he gestured inside.

The musty cold space of the diner beckoned like a haven from the dark alleyway and Adeline smiled weakly at the stranger, rolling her eyes at her own helplessness once she'd turned away. Adi glanced around the assortment of people in the diner, the broken window, the sad dark atmosphere that seemed to emanate the same desperation that covered everything since the war.

Sobbing and defeated a man stood, his noise filling the cold space. Adeline watched for a moment with disinterest her gaze wandering to the well dressed stranger from outside once more. His effect unnerved Adeline and she turned away sharply from the diner to stare through the empty window pane at the aftermath of the fire fight.I need a gun The thought broke the empty silence in the girls mind. The sticky blood caked Adeline's skin and she glanced down towards the shallow wound where the bright hot liquid congealed and seeped into her clothing.

She shivered and leaned her head back, laying down wasn't an option she had to be able to react to her surroundings "Ollie I am fine please don't fuss about it" She smiled trying to act as normally as she could, she coughed quickly into her hand and winced closing her eyes.

[******** ******** ********] she yelled in aggravation. She didn't have anything with her. Just a flask of water and clothes that were not suitable for a dash through the woods.

She spotted a tree suitable for climbing. Gritting her teeth, she rubbed her palms on her borrowed jeans, getting them dry. She leapt into the air, grabbing a branch. She swung her body, throwing herself to grab the next branch up. Candice heard something stomping through the underbrush, rushing to meet her hammering heart. She didn't dare turn her head, throwing her energy into climbing with all her might. Her feet still only a meter or so off the ground, she feared what would happen if they met the boar's tusks. Grunting, she pulled her legs up to wrap around a thick branch just as air rushed by them. She spared a glance now, seeing the enraged boar tossing it's head just where her legs had been.

"Ha! Take that, you stupid pig," she jeered, adrenaline rushing.

The more he looked around at this crowd, the more he was getting tired of it. They could shut themselves into this rickety place all they wanted, he wouldn't have any of it. He got up from his seat, finishing off his crap coffee and leaving the cup behind. "I'll consider the cup as payment for fixing up your new employee." He nodded towards Jamie, then smiled to Ollie. That wasn't a bad deal at all for the mediocre blend that he got. Medical treatment wasn't his favorite past time, after all.

He stepped out then. Leave these guys to their mess. He had a bed to find. Let's see... zombie boy came form somewhere. The was a run down starbucks, a bank, and finally a motel. Well, nice. Motel. He wondered if there was even a chance of a spare room in the place that had fortified enough doors to keep him safe enough for the night.

He'd find out.

His feet carried him from the Diner, across the street, and into the motel. Eyes scanned the empty hallways around the place. Nice. Shabby. they always were. He reached over the counter when he saw the rack of keys, snagging one for himself and heading to the upstairs where all the rooms were. Let's see... room three, huh? He wondered if the door would be bashed in or something.

Nope. Perfect condition. He guessed everyone went for the pricy hotels first, then. After all, they had the constant supply of shampoo and conditioner. He licked his lips and unlocked the door, stepping in. He had his pistol out just as soon, taking his time to look through every corner of the room, making sure he really was alone. He didn't want any surprise midnight robbers shanking him and getting his gun or whatever.People could be dicks like that. But... it was clear. That was always nice. He had his pistol back in his jacket soon, stepping out of the last place he'd checked; the rest room. Better lock up and hit the sack.

Maxwell was about to give up, wrapped in a huge black shawl, crouched on the back of a mostly-ruined sofa, binocular lenses pressed to the window between the boards that covered it when finally, just at sundown, something very interesting happened. The Scarman was making his way across the empty lot in his direction, and he grinned widely to himself in the darkness, and had to fight not to actually laugh aloud; finally, some excitement! Wide eyed, he watched raptly as the man approached and entered the hotel immediately next door, where ******** Zombie had come from earlier.

                                          "It's time, Mephisto."

He whispered excitedly, passing silently back and forth round his tiny lair, gathering his few belongings and tucking them into a shoulder bag, checking his person to make sure his several blades were still in place, then exiting out a small hole in the wall. This particular building had been devoid of people long ago, partially due to the overwhelming rat problem (which hadn't bothered him in the slightest with the monster-cat around), but mostly because of the shocking abundance of human corpses that had drawn the rats in the first place. Not-so-recently, the building had been in use by a decent-sized group of survivors, and they'd done well enough for themselves until a passing group of raiders decided they liked the digs they'd set up. Liked it enough to dispose of each and every one of them. It was no matter to Max, though; his sense of smell had never been the best, and he'd long since gotten used to the sight of bodies, so as a result it was the perfect place to ensure he wouldn't be bothered.

Quiet as a ghost, he passed through the halls and out another tiny hole into the narrow alleyway that divided the apartment from the hotel, then crept along it, pressed into the shadow of the wall, then coming to a halt at a metal service door at the back of the building. He eyed the door for a moment, then darted a long-fingered hand into his satchel, producing some crude lockpicks, which he began to use on the door, listening intently, then emitting a small

                                          "Aha!"

as the metal lock gave way and the door swung outward, revealing a long, dim corridor lined with doors. Most of these he passed up entirely. He was going for the last door, at the end of the hall, that he was fairly sure led to the hotel proper, which would lead him to Scarman, who would tell him (one way or another) whether or not the diner itself was worth the effort of picking clean. This inside door, blessedly, was unlocked from this side, and he stepped through, drawing the long, thin buck-knife from his belt and pausing for just a moment to check and see whether or not Mephisto had decided to join him on his adventure, smiling happily to see the beast standing casually in a shadow. It wasn't often that Max made friends, and the usefulness of this particular companion was not at all lost on him. Together they swept through the dark, desolate halls, pausing for several seconds at each door to listen carefully for any signs of movement within. His heart pounded in his eyeballs with the thrill of the hunt, and he knew that his packmate felt the same, admiring him as he walked low with his hackles raised, ears constantly swiveling to pick up any sound, eyes narrowed in focus.

It wouldn't be long before he found what he was looking for, and for a brief instant he felt a pang of fear. This guy was no joke, and he'd never tested himself this way... it was entirely possible that it would be more than he could handle by himself, but he had come way too far to turn back now. Abruptly, he stopped dead as he passed one of the first rooms on the first floor on his way to the stairs up. Mephisto growled, low and almost imperceptable, stopping at a gentle kick from Max that merited a quick glare but silence. In an instant his lockpicking tools were out again, and he worked with care, staring intently it the handle, but despite his best efforts, his equipment was handmade and rough at best, so the process was very quiet, yes, but certainly not silent as he had hoped. He prayed, or as close as he could get, that the killer behind this door (if he was in there at all, the stupid cat may have been growling at nothing) was asleep already.

                                          'Here I come...'

His blade glinted dimly in his off-hand, and he couldn't keep a grin off of his face.

what a damned day. He had the door locked, key tossed onto the bedside table, and his jacket hung on the back of one of the chairs. He was still undressing, slipping a finger through the knot of his tie and gently tugging to each side until the piece of silk fabric slid free, caressing down his body. He hung it to the side, ready to remove the vest that held his pistol and combat knife on it, only then noticing--... there was blood on his suit. And on his collar. "Sonofa...." He breathed, severely annoyed now.

Alright, clean up time. He disappeared into the restroom, flipping on the sink-- wait, the water worked!? No one probably had a chance to switch it off at the water supply plant. That, or maybe someone was still there running the whole place for an emergency situation all across the States. Well, that was neat. Home f the free for you. He slid the fabric under the water, washing it thoroughly. If there was one thing he would not stand, it was a nasty stain on his beautiful suit. the suit was easy enough. The white dress shirt had to come off next. He stripped his vest and left it folded aside, then one by one plucked this tiny buttons away, unbuttoning the cuffs, and peeling the fabric form his body.

Have you ever had that moment where you wished you hadn't? As he scrubbed away, the red slowly became pink-- a lost of pink. Smudged about everywhere. He growled low and glared, scrubbing only harder. Damned ******** thing! He spent minutes on it, he swore, until he was ******** satisfied enough! All of the noise of the rushing water was probably the only reason why he missed his door's lock being picked.

He hung the suit jacket and shirt up over the shower's rail, making sure it was laying straight for a hopefully wrinkle free finish. He doubted that would happen. With a heavy sigh his ran his fingers through his greased back hair, his toned and broad body flexing with his every movement; all of the nice old scars telling their own story of his body. He had been through a lot. He had been through Hell. And here he was; back. Wading through the endless tale of s**t just like everyone else.

Alright then, -- creeeak. Dah fauq!?

He went to look behind him,but behind he had a chance the b*****d sped up. Before he knew it he had a pair of warm around around him, one putting pressure just under his chin to keep it lifted up, the other holding a dangerously smiling blade to his throat. s**t, that was fast! He breathed shortly, calm eyes trying to travel back to see whomever it was. He hadn't just up and stabbed him, meaning he had a chance still. There was something this b*****d wanted. "Bravo." He sighed, sounding more annoyed than afraid, which is what any normal person would react with. Fear. Hah.

He could not believe his luck. Not only was the scarred man indeed inside this hotel room (thanks, Mephisto!), but he hadn't heard the sound of the crude lockpick brutalizing the room's keyhole. The huge black feline waited patiently as Max crept through the front room, knife ready, and peered into the bathroom, only to find his target prone, back turned and partially deafened by the sound of running water, washing his fine clothes in the sink. Part of Max hated this man for his nice clothes and oiled hair, and his eyes grew cruel as he first ducked to avoid being seen in the mirror, then stood up straight to press the keenly sharpened blade to the taller man's throat. He wasn't a large person, by any stretch of the imagination, and he realized once he was standing against his back that this guy was a lot bigger than he looked from a second story window, but his long arms and legs allowed him the reach he needed to keep the knife pressed firmly against his flesh while keeping his own body completely hidden.

                                          "I don't want any [********] trouble."

He stated, almost spitting the swearword as though he disliked the taste of it, obviously not used to talking like that in his daily life, or talking at all for that matter. Obviously, though, he wasn't kidding around, and his huge black eyes glinted wildly at Dante in the reflection in front of them.

"I want information, and you're going to tell me everything I need to know."

The words, spoken in a much gentler tenor than should have never been extorting information out of anyone, held a sort of manic desperation, and the combination of his voice's softness and the merciless edge that it held lent the threat of his presence considerable weight. He began slowly backing up, away from Dante's weapon vest, toward the main front room, whispering into his ear as he did so.

"I want to know how many of them there are in that diner. I want to know how well armed they are. I also want to know how many of them are injured, irradiated, or ill. You look like a worldly man... I don't think I have to tell you what will happen to you if you decide not to cooperate."

Just as gentle as his almost tender whisper, the razor-sharp blade pressed forward, putting a barely-there nick in Dante's flesh. It was shallow, shallow enough to present no real risk to Dante's health, but it did begin to bleed, sending a narrow crimson rivulet slowly down his neck and bare chest.

Ohh, his day was only getting better. The desperation of mankind. His eyes caught the beady pair of his new little friend through the mirror. He figured out his height, average weight, estimated hair length, and so on just from a glance. He needed anything and everything he could use as a leg up in his situation. Anything to ******** this b*****d's plans up and get himself the Hell out of dodge.

"You're thinking of sneaking in there, murdering them, and taking all of their goods?" He asked drolly. No doubt he wouldn't get a response. Actually, he did. That response was a vicious threat to the safety of his dear neck. He shut his eyes, brow furrowed considerably as he played out situation after situation in his head. He had ways to get out of this, but all too risky. "You aren't going to just let me go if I tell you." He breathed softly. He couldn't see his face anymore, but he could hear it. He knew what a man at wits end sounded like. He also knew this man currently needed him and his information. Looks like he'd just have to be a bit gutsy.

... Or not. Probably not the best idea. He sighed and rapped his fingers against his pants. "Excluding myself there were..." He paused, his eyes recalculating the entire scene. "Seven. Three injured. Radiation sickness beyond me, I didn't stick around long enough to see any of them get sick." He sighed, growing more annoyed as the minutes ticked by. "You know, they're nice people. You could just ask them for support instead of being a d**k." Well, he hoped the guy would have enough humanity to do just that but... something in his told him to doubt that that outcome would ever come about.

Adeline didn't move an inch when the new couple arrived, she simply listened to the conversation revealing they were not new to the diner. Taking a glance at the injured woman in the booth then to the still sobbing man. ''Great I've wound up with a bunch of unstable invalids'' The words were muttered with malice and Adi soon turned back to the scene of destruction through the broken window.

Anger flared up once more at the scarred stranger, an emotion mixed with fear. The girl took a second glance around the room and rolled her eyes. Glass crunched beneath her shoes as Adeline stepped out of the diner and into the street, the cold breeze whipped soft brown hair accross her face. Another cigarette found itself wrapped in the girls fingers, as she placed it between her lips Adeline kicked a piece of debri angrily and watched as it rolled across the road into the dark.

The hot smoke wrapped itself around Adelines throat and she thought of life before the war. In all reality it wasn't much better, at least nowadays she could look people in the eyes and not fear their motives. Adi watched the knife slide in to the soft skin and felt the hot blood pour over her hands as the man slumped forwards in her memory. He deserved it She thought brushing away the thoughts once more.

A metallic glint caught Adeline's eyes and she recognised the familiar shape of her colt stepping forwards she leant down to pick the cold object up. ''Death doesn't actually look all that great either.'' The girl spoke to a corpse slumped in a doorway, she let the shot ring out through the street as the bullet ploughed into the crumpled body. Adeline stood watching the corpse for a moment fury coursing through her before storming off down a side street opposite the diner. She slumped against a wall and let the nicotine calm the blood coursing through her veins.

pyrokinetic, telekinetic and seems to look younger then what she really is.

Amanda had been hiding behind the counter the whole time with her ears covered. Her mind going though the different events of her life. Which some where good while others were not. Though life always seemed to be like that. A roller coaster of good and bad things. It was like one could not be with out the other. Such things crossed her mind and oddly enough she was wanting to find herself a playstation two and a copy of a certain game right about now. She didn't move from her spot until long after the dust had cleared. Her eyes looking about the diner for a few moments. As if she was assessing what had happened. What she would need to do and if there was anyway to fix anything that had broke.

Well for now she noticed the male who seemed like he was about to pass out. The one who had ran in before all of bullets had started to fly around. So she walked over to him and knelt down to where he would eye level with her.The Asian looking male. "Hey there. Do you need help with anything?"She asked him as she ran her fingers though her long blonde looking hair.
