                                          XXMOOD: Alert.

As Weiss traveled through the forest, a distant choir of gunfire, of calls to order, and the creak of trees accompanied nature's ambiance. With the Order now occupied by both Shadow Spawn and their members, Umbra's main objective remained open for the taking with hopefully minimal interference. Working backwards from animal tracks, Weiss had hiked for almost a mile, his steps silent with a deadly expertise, when the distinct sound of a snapping twig brought him to an alert. He slunk behind a tree trunk, keeping his purple gaze in the direction of the sound. Within moments, a group of three black uniformed Order soldiers passed by approximately twenty feet ahead of him.

Weiss quirked a brow. 'Not enough to be a direct response squad, probably a scouting team on way to rendezvous with the main force...' He glanced up to the canopy and then at the soldiers again. 'From the northwest, meaning they rerouted, more than likely due to Shadow Spawn. At least I'm on track, though them...' Weiss slowly held up a hand, dim orbs of energy floating above him, as they turned their backs to him. 'Unfortunate.'

The three soldiers had moved another fifty feet when one of them stopped, pointing to what appeared to be an odd-looking butterfly. Weiss watched as they immediately raised their weapons as a dozen more of the same creature fluttered down. Even with their helmets, he could discern their bewilderment, replaced subsequently by alarm and panic as a butterfly landed on their comrade's helmet and promptly exploded. Arc bullets rained upon their targets, though even in destruction, they did not fail in their purpose. The bits of the insect-like creatures that did not survive simply fell upon them, and as with the first, their remnants and the remaining blasted the soldiers every which way.

Weiss emerged from his hiding spot as soon as the gunfire ensued, having foreseen the results already, and continued on his way. The sounds of rushing water soon joined in the cacophony accompanied by the growls and groans of ambling Shadow Spawn. Stopping where the forest line met the clearing surrounding the river bank, Weiss walked around the perimeter, opting to stay out of sight until he had a visual on the Black Fragment, if possible.

Arther quirked a brow as he watched the mongrel go through some sort of change. She was not reacting well to his commanding aura as it seemed to send her into a sort of frenzied rage. His expression was an amused one as she cut down his soldiers and turned on Nathaniel horde afterward. "It seems the mongrel is now showing its true colors. Arthur commented to himself as he watched with a bored expression. He winced slightly as she let out a feral scream that rang in his ears afterward. By the way she was acting in total disregard of her own health, ignoring any injuries that came her way it would be all to easy for Nathaniel and Arthur to just bombard her with ranged attacks until she could move no more. However this really was just a mindless beast now. It was no longer worthy of even being speared by the blades of his weaponry, Arthur would instead let a lesser fighter dispose of her. It would be much akin to pest control.

That was when he heard Nathaniel's command about wanting to leave and needing transportation. His eyes narrowed slightly but a amused smirk returned to his face as his gaze returned to Nathaniel. "Watch yourself, a tone such as that is not fit to address a king with." Without so much as a wave of his hand a large shimmering portal of golden light manifested beside him. The dull sound of hoof beats and neighing could be heard before two large and magnificent steeds emerged from the portal dragging a brilliant war chariot that could seat two behind them. "However I must agree that this mongrel no longer holds any value of entertainment for me. It is simply nothing more than a mad dog now. As such we shall depart." Climbing onto his chariot Arthur looked down at Kyra as she was nearing the duo. immediately twenty smaller portals formed along the ground in front of Arthur and from them rose more soldiers. These soldiers however didn't seem as well equipped as the ones summoned before. Their armor was leather and hide rather than hard steel and instead of carrying shields and swords they held nets and spears.

"Restrain the mongrel so that she does not interfere with our departure." Arhure commanded and the soldiers accepted before turning toward Kyra, ready to use their nets and spears to hold her in place as long as possible. Arthur waited as Nathaniel climbed aboard and set next to him before signalling for his horses to move. With a loud neigh the steeds pounded their hooves into the dirt and took off, winding their way seemlessly through the tree openings as they made their way to the river bank. Any tree that was not able to be steered around was cut down by the side of the war chariot breaking it apart. At their speed they would lead Kyra far behind unless she gave chase quickly and with haste.

It wouldn't be long before they would reach Eibon at this rate.

Ately looked on to the destruction that followed her, slightly surprised. She had heard screaming, explosions, and then the side of the building fell apart. She hadn't done all of that had she? But there was no time, it seemed for questioning her powers, there was movement within the rubble. That tall figure, that assassin, was still standing after all of that it seemed, and he was still focused on her. Fantastic. She was going to be surrounded soon, and it was bad enough this man was after her now. They'd screwed the pooch, or, an unknown screwed the pooch. That girl was that busted into the room definitely had something to do with it. Ately stepped back from the edge of the building and contemplated her diminishing list of options. She'd simply have to make a distraction for the others to escape.

Ately took in a deep breath, exhaled and shattered all of the windows on the top floor of the building she was on and brought the shards into a large rotating ring around her. She'd wait patiently for her adversary to reach the top before acting first. Several chunks of glass split off from the flow and formed into four solid blades. She sent the first two flying directly towards the man and kept the remaining by her sides. She needed to feel this person out before they pulled any tricks on her. She kept backing up, all the way to the opposite edge of building as she started getting a feel for more of the objects around her, she was going to need something more to turn things to her favor.

It seemed that the Order personnel were going to take the route of shoot first, ask questions later. Unfortunately, they were also shooting at Epsilon, and he was lucky enough that the ARC shot fired at him was just a glancing blow. One of the pitfalls of being a giant robot was usually people assuming her was a half-ton container of contempt for anything meat bag. A totally uncalled for bias, and it was going to be the end of these select few. The one thing he could commend them with was their preciseness in being able to disable such a large shadow spawn. By the time Epsilon had taken adequate cover, it was already fumbling around on four stubs that were once limbs. Things quickly went silent as the group were scanning the area for the robot, but he was already in thick bush, watching through thermals. One of them called out to another, Paul, and asked if he saw anything. No, of course not.

Over the next twenty seconds Epsilon ran numerous simulations of the coming confrontation again and again. Each gave him little chance of getting out stealthily, they were coming right towards him. So, he decided he'd have to break protocol and engage before he was. Epsilon dropped into full combat mode and opened fire on the two closest to him. He nailed both and killed a third before the remaining three opened fire on him. The robot sprinted from his cover with surprising speed towards the group's flank and took a shot to the barrel of his own ARC rifle, melting it away and rendering it useless. Not missing a beat, he chucked it at one of the soldiers, knocking them to the ground. The last two were vaporized by beams of ARC eneregy from his hands, and just like that, the conflict was over.

Though, one injured soldier remained, the one who took a rifle to the helmet. He had been forced to remove it and reveal his (dark haired) face. He noticed Epsilon approaching him and drew his service pistol, firing off shot after useless shot against his armored chassis. Epsilon stood beside the man, looked locked eyes with him as he muttered a string of expletives matched with a faded smile. Epsilon tilted his head quizzically down to him, attempting to understand how someone could smile in the face of imminent death. It was a bad thing wasn't it? Still, he would not take the time to figure out, maybe he could ask Josephina when they made it back to HQ. Epsilon crushed the man's head beneath his foot before continuing on through the forest. He'd maintain his silence for now until more pressing issues came up.

Both Edgar and Penelope had maintained a defensive stance during the brief staredown after the orb of light had re-illuminated the room. However, the sudden dropping of one of the security guards brought Edgar to body block Penelope in the case of hostile reinforcements. "We don't know what exactly is going on here, but by the authority of the Order of ARCAEUS, cease and-!!" His eyes grew in alarm as a flashbang grenade broke through the window before squinting as it detonated.

Realizing that the assailant's targets were the fake Tate and their entourage, the investigators effectively moved back towards the office door, pistols still drawn to provide covering fire for the newcomer. Yet, for all their years on the job, neither could help but observe in a mixture of awe and uncertainty at the carnage which ensued, seemingly stemming from the death of the secretary. As the building's stability began to come to question, Edgar quickly gestured for Penelope to move out. "Aid in the evacuation of the upper floor, and I'll do what I can here," he calmly stated while continuing to survey, and contain if necessary, the remaining people in the vicinity.

With the main combatants leaving the office area, Edgar almost left himself when the girl from earlier brought her to attention, heading over. Blinking, he listened to her and spotted her wound. "Thanks for the analysis. Hopefully, we're the only ones left at this part of the building, though." Edgar stepped over to the piles of dubris and proceeded to chuck them off to the side like toy blocks. He then picked up the young woman into his arms and half-stepped, half-jumped down to the accounting room. Edgar walked out to the hall before navigating to the nearest exit. In the distance, he could already hear the sirens of law enforcement and paramedics alike.

At this point, he gently set her down by the wall before removing his coat. "Hang on, you're bleeding," he stated calmly before promptly fixing the garment around her midriff to at least staunch the bleeding. Edgar gaze occasionally shifted from the wound to meet her gaze. "What's your name, Miss?"

The investigator conferred with his partner for a few moments before coming over. He was a big guy, about a foot taller than Sal, and he easily moved the debris out of the way. While he did so, Sal frantically texted to Lach and Lotus, Found a way out of the building. I've got help. Meeting up with Ethan.

She wondered where the two other women were, and if they had made it out of the building already. She hadn't been able to keep track of their location, but she knew that they'd been on the archive floor looking for anything incriminating. Lach would have already busted out by now, if she could, but Lotus might still be looking for her. Lach had yet to tell them her location, though. Sal certainly hoped that Lotus didn't go searching for her -- it'd be a waste of time.

All of these was too familiar. Burning buildings, people dying, Sal on her own once again. She pushed it from her mind. Now was not the time to freeze up in old memories. She needed to focus on getting out of here, first and foremost. She'd deal with her problems when she was sure she wasn't about to die a fiery, crushing death via building burial.

"Lucky us. It means there's not a cram of people trying to get out through one door only," Sal mentioned pragmatically as she looked down the hole into the accountant's rooms.

She was suddenly swept off her feet, and she shouted in surprise. Dang, he was strong! He'd lifted her like she was nothing -- not that Sal was a huge girl. Still, that was no mean feat either. He stepped down into the accounting office, and he left the building entirely with Sal in tow. While Sal wasn't one to be manhandled (besides her single exception), she allowed him to carry her out of the building. She doubted she would've been able to make it out on her feet anyways. Her upper gut was beginning to hurt -- and hurt bady.

He sat her against a wall, and she grunted as the dull ache continued. The tall man's face swam in and out of her vision as the sirens from around her grew louder and louder, then weaker and weaker. It was as if the world was going in and out of focus, and she wasn't sure why. She squeezed her eyes shut for a second, trying to force the world into perspective.

"W-what...? No, no I feel fine, I'm not --" Sal looked down at her chest, a little surprised to see that her coverall was a very dark red. So... that wasn't coffee. When did she get hurt? How? Though she hadn't noticed the wound, the rest of her body had. Her speech was slurred, and her head lolled as she tried to stay conscious. Was it her, or was it hard to breath now?

                                                      "Name...? Uh..."

An inner panic started. If she gave them her real name, they'd know that Order personnel were unofficially involved. If she gave her fake name, all her medical files would be wrong -- though it wasn't like there was a whole lot in the med files anyways. Her thinking grew fuzzier and fuzzier as the blood loss began to affect her brain, and she started to shake as she brushed the hair out of her face. A smear of red colored her forehead as she thought hard. What was her name?

"Harley. Harley Lonestar," Sal said, but her words were mostly garbled. She began to slide sideways against the wall, unable to hold herself up. Ironically, Edgar had sped up the process of bleeding out by applying pressure-- as well as heat. The icicle lodged in her abdomen had begun to melt, and the blood began to drain out of her faster. While the pressure did help staunch the bleeding, her liver was stabbed clean through, as well as her stomach. She needed a doctor very quickly.

"I... d'n feel good..." Sal mumbled, eyes half open. Half-aware of the seriousness of her wound, she grasped Edgar's wrist as if he could anchor her to the mortal world.

There was nothing worse than the trepidation of the White Death’s approach.

Make no mistake, he was not haphazard; he drew ever closer on the sheer ice-path that was forming beneath his feet with a quiet shick-shick of boot against ice, water freezing around his arm to form familiar sabers. If she had turned to run with a sprint, she would find that his slow resolving ire could speed up to a rivaling chase -- but that was unnecessary, and instead she stood at the precipice in wait for her adversary.

Courteous, and what a hell of an adversary he was.

When the ice met the unfriendly concrete, all bets were off. The imposter woman, who traded ebony skin for a swath of porcelain created and fired two blades of shirking metal at the White Death. Immediately, as if lined with a hairlined trigger, both of his arms shot up to deflect the blow with a strong clang and tear as his sabers chipped but did not shatter at the slicing force. The White Death peered at her, almost with a certain curiosity as he tilted his covered head, analyzing her even without the benefit of his visor’s readings.

Recite, recite, recite, the forebearer of his mind recalled. He did as instructed. “You have resisted arrest under the grounds of being an identified UMBRA dissident. You may either surrender, imposter for target Tate, Evaline,” he spoke in that impersonal void of a monotone while he slowly approached her with his sabers crinkling with activity, “or face forceful incapacitation.” The air around the two, thicker still with their bred disposition towards one another, soon began to quite literally grow colder by the second.

The White Death kept his gaze through his helmet locked on her -- she couldn’t twitch without him noticing at this distance. He raised his sabers towards her but not in a combative lunge -- more of a guiding strike. The ground beneath her quaked with frost before his focus intensified and within moments a literal pillar of ice shot out from underneath. If she was caught in the ice, it would sooner still start to form around her with the intention of forcefully entrapping her with its infinitesimally frozen embrace.

                                          Welcome to Hell, Ately.

If Arthur seemed good for anything, it was equal parts snark and lurid self-congratulating.

Nathaniel, as to be expected with his particular theme for the day, remained not amused in the slightest.

The Sphere hummed, clicked, and vibrated as it tailed Nathaniel, swirling this way and that while his mobs of Shadow Spawn were gored and hacked to pieces by the horned woman’s strength and claws. They were of no matter of sorrow for him of course, but it still gave Arthur an inch to expand to a mile of sarcastic insults while Nathaniel kept himself from sighing in the same way a parent would to a child.

I would stay your tongue for all of the dues it has given you, Arthur,” he said frankly before the chariot was summoned in all of its glistening grandiosity. Nathaniel purviewed only a section of its glory while he called off the rest of his screeching minions back into the tar pits whence they came, boarding the chariot with his typical dull boredom.

He was too busy finagling with his coat to grace Arthur with his responses to his usual beratement as he finally gained a connection with Weiss over their communicators. “Weiss? Arthur and I are en route to your position. Have you gotten a visual on the Black Fragment?” Just like that, Nathaniel muted himself on Weiss’s link before opening another connection with Lazarus. “Lazarus, I would like a status report on your position and your current state. We may have a visual on the Black Fragment.” While Nathaniel’s tone remained droll, it was straightforward and leaderly -- the entire point.

While waiting for responses from the two Nathaniel’s gaze briefly rested with the Sphere, which was hovering nearby even with the breakneck speeds of Arthur’s horses. It clicked in response before floating over into his hands, vibrating. There was a sense of excitement to it, but also the same curiosity that was plaguing Nathaniel’s insides. With this Black Fragment in their possession, they might finally reach a consensus on the true nature of Black Light.

In other words, the breakthrough they were always looking for.

At that back of her mind, Lotus knew something was wrong when the lights went out. She ran out of the computer lab, grabbing her phone to dial Lach just as 'Lucy' popped up on the screen. Lotus stopped at the end of the hallway, in the dark, propping the phone between her ear and her shoulder.

"L-Lotus. Get Sal and get out of here! I'll be fine. Just get the ******** out of here!"

      Click.

The frantic emotions in the general's voice were enough to sent a jolt of fear through Lotus. She started to move, pushing open the door to the back-end staircase and running up the stairs. She ran across the hallway, glancing quickly into the entrance of every room. People were evacuating so she started to move faster, blurring in speed under the dim glows of the emergency lights. She had to fight Lach. Or Sal. She wasn't going to make that choice. She was going to find them both and then jump. They were both going to make it.

Boom. The building shook in the aftermath of an impact and Lotus went sprawling to the side, grasping at the wall with her palms to steady herself. The explosion was followed by what sounded like glass breaking. Windows?! Is someone else attacking? With a gun? Were the official investigators from the Order armed? Lotus didn't think there was any reason for a fight to break out, but who knew what Tate's involvement in all this was.

She sprinted across the next hallway, but couldn't find sign of either girl. With a sigh, she stopped at the end, taking out her phone to see Lach's text to leave as soon as possible. She typed out her reply. "Where are you" and sent.

She started moving again, blocking out the sounds of conflict from her mind and the thoughts that told her to go looking for Sal despite her reluctance to be saved. Lach could protect herself right? No. Lotus didn't want to make that decision. She didn't have to. Two jumps were easy. She just had to find them both first. If only she had the magic to track people.

Her phone buzzed and she propped it onto her ear, her heart lurching to hear Sal's strained voice.

"Listen to Ethan and just focus on getting out. Lach, find Lotus and get out. I'm in a dead end where the imposters are. If you could get to me, you'd be in the dead end too, so don't bother. There's a really, really big guy that crashed into the office, and he's on this floor. I'll be okay. I can find my own way out of the building."

"No Sal, listen-" Lotus started to say. She didn't care about the imposters. She could jump her out of their in a second, but her protest was met with static. Sal wasn't on the line anymore. She bit her lip and looked at the small screen of her phone again. Lach first then, and once Lach was out of the building, she'd come back for Sal. Lotus created a marker next to the room where she was just in case and kept moving. A few minutes up the stairs, she received a text from Lach as to her location. One of the data records room in the security. Lotus knew the place from the blueprints. She dashed up the stairs to the fifth floor.

"Meet at the fifth floor stairwell." Lotus sent her text and ran up the stairs. Though she wasn't nearly as fast as Lach she was able to move quickly enough that she was just a blur along the walls. She reached the stairwell mentioned, breathless and leaned over to catch her breath. Grab Lach. Jump out. Jump back to the second floor, find Sal, jump out. It was a horrible plan, but with everything falling apart, it was all she had.

Her phone buzzed again and she looked down at the screen, it was a message from Sal.

Found a way out of the building. I've got help. Meeting up with Ethan.

Lotus never thought she would feel relief, but she did. It flooded her senses like blood pounding into her ears. She almost dropped her phone as she breathed out. Sal was okay. So was Lach. All of their planning and contingencies had fallen apart, but at least they were going to make it out. Lotus couldn't believe how much that mattered to her.

She waited for the General, twirling the small phone in her hand, unable to contain her nerves.

Even with her perpetual inclination towards silence, Penelope managed to direct an unusually calm group of civilians down the stairs without so much as a few choice command words. Situations like these dampened her choice distaste for whatever fate or genetics had done for endowing her with a usually pain-in-the-a** skill set. All it took was a light touch to each person to kept them from losing their minds as the building threatened to collapse. It was almost too easy regarding the circumstances, at least until Penelope felt another shiver. Something--No, someone passed her. 'Deep worry, a tinge of panic...' Only an ARC user would have the physical capability to even get past her with such speed, and only an ARC user would be stupid enough to go farther up in a structurally unstable building. However, her priorities were the civilians, moreso that Edgar had told her to stick with them, and so with them she stayed.
        ___

Edgar maintained a soft expression, still smiling even as she gripped his wrist. "We'll make you feel much better, Harley," he said, almost cooing the fact to her. "Just stay awake, alright?" Edgar kept his optimism, because that was the best he could do, the best he could react to how she must be feeling. He had seen, had witnessed and partaken in similar scenes like these overseas. Too many. Most of them didn't have a happy ending.

He slid his arm back under her before gently tugging his wrist free to scoop his other arm under her legs. Carrying her princess-style towards the sounds of the ambulances, firefighters, and policemen, he continued to speak to her, "Are you from around here, Harley? Any family we can contact for you? They would certainly be worried about you, after all." The corner of his eyes remained crinkled as he continued to smile, glancing at her every other moment. "Keep those eyes open, Harley."

                            • As it was, Kyra was a mindless beast at this point. Then again, when she went berserk, she always attacked allies and enemies alike no matter what. So as it was clear, the act of having those summoned soldiers to try and stop her was like sending mice to a cat in this way. Her claws ripping into them as she turned her glowing gaze and large claws upon the two men. Making their way quickly towards them. Yet when the golden haired male summoned a chariot and horses, Kyra would end up jumping back. Going in the defensive for a moment as she let out a feral scream towards them. Her shark like teeth shown to them while her horn seemed to pulse and throb in the middle of her forehead. Much larger than before while her claws looked even more massive as she crouched there.

Without much of batting an eye, the male summoned more soldiers, those with swords and shields, as well as nets and spears. But what these men didn't know, was the strength the female monster held. A strength that could even lift up a house if she wanted to. So when they soon began to take off, Kyra narrowed her glowing red eyes. Gritting her teeth with a low growl as suddenly a net was thrown over her. Which didn't do much, as her claws easily ripped through it like butter. But that wasn't to say that her skin and outfit didn't get cut up in the process of the spears being sent her way. Her claws slashing out at the sides to crush them, as she soon took off. Her pale flesh almost being stained with her own blood as she ran on all four for a moment, before running on her legs. Her arms trailing behind her, while her body bounced up and down.

Her red eyes narrowing at the pair, as she instinctively knew it would be hard to keep up. So that's when she put more strength into her legs. The muscles in her thighs bulged just slightly and she soon began to launch herself one giant leap after another. Trying to keep up as she yelled out in that feral way once more. Although there was more shadow spawn being created, she basically ripped into those as well. It wasn't to say that her body was slowly running itself down to say the least. It was just in her state of mind, it was hard to settle the Beast down. Even going as far as using her sharp monstrous teeth to bite into them, as she launched herself, little by little closer to the pair running away in the chariot.

Sal felt cold and, oddly, thirsty. She was breathing pretty quickly by now, as if the air had very suddenly left the vicinity. Everything was getting blurry, and she felt as though she were ebbing and flowing. She'd been told as a child that the souls of people were like ships, and they swayed to the rhythm of Alia's song and the waves -- was her soul finally sinking? Was she going down to the dark depths where her ancestors slept beneath the roots of the Great Tree? In her lolling consciousness, she remembered the words of Grandmama Tzvahot, words she hadn't thought about in years.

Death is just going back to the one who made you, becoming one with the waters to be soaked up by the roots, where you will again join those before you in the Great Tree... Before you are born again, you shall climb its branches and taste the stars, to descend again into the realm of Man...

No! She wasn't going, not yet. She could not rest with her mother and father, her family. There were people to punish -- though how she'd punish them, she didn't know -- and people who needed help. She wouldn't go softly into the depths -- she wanted to live, to fight, to breathe.

Sal clawed for consciousness with her whole being, willing herself to stay awake. The pain had mounted to something horrible -- but she had to keep pressing on her own wound, to stem the bleeding. If she didn't, she would die -- she'd watched that happen to too many people. The man who'd saved her -- she hadn't even caught his name -- was asking her questions, and her muddled brain tried to make sense of the noises coming out of his mouth. To stay awake... yeah, she could do that.

"F-fam-family?" Sal breathed, her brow furrowing. There was something important in that question, but every time she tried to get a hold of the thought, it slipped away. The blood loss was making it hard to truly think things through, so she did what she knew to do when she heard the word 'family.'

She pulled out a picture of Laren, the one she kept on her at all times.

"L-laren? Laren's m'sister," Sal slurred. She winced and gritted her teeth as the pain suddenly struck her deep in her... left shoulder? Why her shoulder? She'd been lanced through the gut. "I d'no where...she is. You know the face? Seen before this... th'sface?"

She went on autopilot, repeating the question she'd been asking for what seemed like years. She held the picture by the chain, the little lights around Laren's picture glowing, winking from the ARC energy that Sal could very lightly supply. It flickered and started to go out as the blood loss worsened. Sal looked over at the ambulances, and something about it hit her.

Boxy vehicles, people in uniform, the smell of blood and smoke and screaming, pain...

"No... no no no, please," Sal murmured, louder and louder, squirming away from them. Finding it difficult to suddenly translate, she started pleading with Edgar in Pari, spewing the odd word of Verisian as she grew agitated. She tried to tell them that they were people who were going to hurt her, people who'd hurt others. All her words were a garbled mess of a different language, as she tried to curl in and away from the paramedics coming near.

It was dark, there were moans of pain, and the phone next to her ear was somehow spouting words and texts like a phantom mobile.

"Lucy, we’ve got a complication; there’s a hostile Rank 1 ARC User making her way to Tate’s office... at least two more Rank 1 Users besides you... evac those I can, I’ll meet you at the rendezvous point in ten..."

"Listen to Ethan and just focus on getting out... I'm... dead... the imposters are... in the...office... he's on this floor....okay. I can find my own way out of the building."

                                                            "Where are you...?"

                                                            "Meet...at the fifth floor stairwell."

"...Found a way out of the building. I've got help. Meeting up with Ethan...."

Words and letters that fell on closed eyes and deaf ears, the currently black haired general laid flat on the floor. A stream of blood ran down the left side of her face, her phone only a few dozen inches from her face, hand positioned as if she just held it before it slid from her grasp. Knocked out. Unconscious. But only temporarily. Quickly Lach awoke, her eyes slowly opening to blurred chaotics that left her confused and wanting to go back to bed. "...W... what happened...?" What did happen?

                                                            ____________________________________________
"What the hell is going on!?" She stood in the middle of the hallway, looking in all directions as the building shook with no reasonable explanation. Explosions and tremors that she knew wasn't the cause of were occurring just because they could occur. Employees ran around like frightened sheep with no shepard, some hunched over with their hands over their heads, others taking refuge under desks believing it to be an earthquake. Lach's eyes were wide spheres, completely taken by surprise by the situation but she somehow managed to stay perfectly calm. Maybe having a mechanical heart gave her nerves of steel? Or was all of her experiences finally surfacing, dragging through all of this dirt you would call a surprise?

"Everyone stay calm!" She shouted and raised her hands as she stood up on a chair. Her phone was clearly shown in her right hand, ready to dial one of three people or pick up their calls. Multitasking... was never her forte. Not under these bullshit conditions. "Get to the stairwell! As quickly as you can! And no shoving - try helping one another---" Before she knew it the ceiling overhead began to finally collapse, with overhead lights being the first to fall along with all the other hunks of junks that was stuffed into ceilings. "Go! Now!" She shouted, people immediately bolting for the stairwell so they can get out of this s**t-storm with their lives.

Just when Lach was about to follow the crowd more unfortunate "stuff" fell onto her lap. Ventilation was coming down as the entire floor began to go lopsided, hinting that one of the support beams on the lower floors gave out. Everyone was damn near thrown off their feet, Lach giving off a sudden yelp as she was thrown against the wall due to her unfortunate stature. Yet everyone else continued on without her, trying to get the hell out of harms way before something heavier came down on all of them. Just as she attempted to regain her footing, she realized that her phone was actually on the entire time. And, just when she was about to put the phone up to her ear, she noticed that a part of the ceiling had yet to come down. It looked heavy - heavy enough to flatten the remaining crowds of people trying to flee. Her pupils practically dilated, thoughts having ceased to sprint through her mind. There was no time to think, only to act.

"s**t...!" The girder finally fell through the ceiling, and Lach could clearly determine that several people would be crushed if she didn't do something. Her legs pushed off against the floor, the force of arc energy pressing the surface to deliver a crater where she once stood. This action caused her to launch forward, her right arm reaching out as if to push one of their backs, left hand somehow still holding the cellphone near her face in hopes to hear a shred of relief. Just when she realized that she wasn't going to make it in time the bite-sized general let loose a shock wave from the palm of her hand. Somehow she was capable of determining the amount of force necessary to push without harm, and the civilians were shoved out of the way, letting the descending girder crash on nothing but office floor.

That was when Lach had fell onto the floor, her dash taken over by gravity. Did she fall? Yeah, she must've fell. Her breathing was heavy, but whatever was on her back... was heavier. Probably her cleaver, concealed inside the duffle bag she had on her back. But it was... never this heavy. She must've really pushed her limits on that one.... which is odd, considering she's done more strenuous tasks than this. Whatever, it was time to get the hell out of here. She attempted to push herself up, but realized she couldn't... not without summoning more strength.

Looking over her shoulder she realized that a pile of heavy debris had itself on her back. Composed of... file cabinets, desks, a couple of plants in pots, and so on. But it continued and continued, and Lach felt something hard smash against the side of her noggin.

                                                            And everything went black...
                                                            ____________________________________________

"This... this is why I hate office work..." Wiping off the blood from her face, she looked over her shoulder to examine all of the crap that landed on top of her. Lach could only sigh and roll her eyes before she simply pushed off the floor with greater strength, letting the debris fall and slide right off. She felt relatively alright, mostly thanks to her concealed weapon on her back being as long if not longer than she is. "Where I put that phone...?" Looking around she noticed a lone light among rogue papers and crap she didn't much care for. Careful with her steps, Lach reached down and picked it up, looking at the last message.

Meet Lotus at the fifth floor stairwell...

She looked up toward the door leading to the stairs, somewhat relieved that Lotus was literately a few seconds away. All it took was a goddamn walk. Little did she realize she had missed a few calls, "Lotus!" She called out to her, skipping stairs with strides as she finally got to a stable platform. "Where's Sal?"

They were alone, so using code names were the least of their concerns. User Image

Ériu caught the man staring at her, not not at her. Her choker, its gleaming eyes glowing red she could just make out its power. She was glad she managed to take a chunk out of the masked male, shame she didn't slice him up into strips, but she wasn't going to give into her carnal urges. At least not yet. Though before she managed to catch the shooter the male had managed to fire off a few rounds. One missed her completely, the other scraped her shoulder. The damage was minimal because of her fur. If the b*****d had aimed any lower than her shoulder, then she was looking at a bullet to her heart. Such a dirty move. Then again, they weren't playing very fair to begin with. Claws versus Guns. Though before all of this happened, she caught him staring at her choker. Why?

She didn't have time to think of his possibilities that he was looking for a prize to take back to where he came from. A sign that he had downed the b***h from the Order. "I see you're not all bark." She heard the male say, she let out a soft laugh. "And I see your aim is better than some shoddy work I've seen before." Her voice still distorted as if someone was using a soundboard and speaking through a gravelly line. She watched as he unloaded his bullets, she knew she had to dodge most of them. Though it wasn't like the movies and cartoons, she took a few scraps to her limbs and one nicked her the same spot twice on her shoulder, but lower and buried into her shoulder causing her to roar in pain. Okay, now he pissed her off.

Stalking towards him she saw how his hands were now empty, the sound of a thud landing not far from him. Though the glow was back in both his hands. She was weary of this and kept her distance. He was pulling off some fancy choreography the way he was back stepping and letting his body be pulled backwards. Using the coverage to her advantage, she stayed to the side of him. "I never liked hurting animals you know." She heard him say. She didn't reply to that, some would say she was a monster rather than an animal. Then, as soon as he was done, and put the distance between them. She saw the bright light, it was as if she was staring directly at the sun. She made no noise so that she didn't attract the attention to warrant her death. The bangs came at the same time. He was throwing light grenades at her? The sneaky...

Though with all the dust he probably assumed that he was facing her, instead of looking at his surroundings. She was about to blow her cover when she saw the ball, he created and set it into orbit around his body, growling low she watched as it split and started to circle him as if it was a barrier. "I'm going to have to cut this short." He explained as he sent the balls flying at the dust, his scent of blood lingered so close her mouth was salivating at the idea of tearing him apart. When the last ball left his body, she leapt at him. Sending the two of them crashing through undergrowth and into saplings. "It's not over till I say it's over." She said as she tried to snap at his neck. "And I say it's over when your dead!" She roared as she managed to find a hit, his left arm. Blood seeped into her mouth as she didn't see his other hand or the ball of light smashing into her jaw.

Instinctively she let go with a loud yelp. Dazed and bloodied, she assessed the damage. A broken jaw a few missing teeth and potential blindness. Keeping her eyes shuts, she listened as the crashing of bushes sounded around her. Damn it, he was getting away. Though with her temporary blindness, she would do more harm than good to herself. Laying in the woods, she heard his footsteps fade to the point she no longer heard them. Though thundering steps sounded behind her, one sniff of the air told her it was a few of the soldiers she'd helped save.earlier. She felt arms under her form, as she slowly was brought back on her feet. She changed back as soon as that happened and accepted their help without a single word other than thanks. She felt like she hadn't avenged their fallen friends by not killing the b*****d responsible. Though she had a taste for him now, and knew his scent, she'd find him and kill him.

                                                    'Grand.'

Weiss had climbed one of the trees for a better vantage point, only to be met by a not so unexpected sight. The Black Crystal hovered just above the opposite side of the river bank while Shadow Spawn of Types A through C ambled about it. He touched his chin while still balancing on the branch. 'I wonder, what factors could have led to that Type D...'

He quirked a brow as the comm device in his ear came to life, touching it lightly to respond. "A direct visual," he responded. "We're going to have to cross the river, though. And, it's surrounded by Shadow Spawn for about two hundred feet around, practically idle. No Order personnel or any other third parties in the vicinity." He hopped down the branches of the tree before landing neatly on the ground. "There should be no Order personnel if you follow the route. See you...both soon."

Weiss leaned against the tree trunk, arms folded, as he stared off in the direction of the Black Crystal. Surely, this was a mission that may not have required his presence, but this phenomena...It rendered even him curious.
