Setting Update
The massive cruise ship was built for comfort. From the red velvet carpets, to the natural wood paneling; it looked like something out of a movie. The many common areas were large, with ceilings that were more than thirty feet above the passengers head. The dining area was always stocked with food and the sound of soothing music could be heard in every area of the ship. The hallways had a different color depending on where you were, but all the walls were lined with portraits and photos of an assortment of calming, and peaceful things.
The sound of the massive turbines that pushed the ship forward was nearly nonexistent unless you were down in the lowest rooms of the ship. Every few hours the captain would get on the loudspeaker and make a joke or two, followed by an estimate on how long it'd take them to get to the "little strip of paradise".
On the deck, the sea air was strong but not overwhelming; the perfect mix of ocean and land. Inside the hallways had a smell of baked goods, and fresh laundry. Each scent was clean and distinct; they instantly could be recognized for what they were.
Despite all of this, the ship gave off an uneasy feeling; like the dark corner of a room after watching an all-night marathon of horror films. Perhaps it was the fact that very few people had gotten on the cruise ship at the dock, only a dozen at most. So little people had gotten on that you could walk the entire length of the ship and not meet another soul.
Perhaps it was that the entire ship was trying too hard to make it's passengers comfortable and calmed. From the mahogany railings to the placement of the furniture, everything in the ship was built for this purpose which put the entire ship firmly into the uncanny valley.
Perhaps it was the captains voice; with it's forced cheerfulness and panicked undertones. The constant mention of the island as a paradise, or a light in the darkness felt fake; from a script. Every so often, the captains voice would crack with what sounded like a sob trying to escape. It would last only an instant and then was gone; replaced with the well scripted humor and time till arrival.
Perhaps it was the lack of crew. Only a few times during the entire trip had a member of crew made it's presence known, and despite this everything remained in working order. Food was restocked, beds were made, and the deck was spotless. Every once in a while a crew member would show themselves and even then only when needed to keep the passengers happy; the bartender when someone wanted a drink, the waiter when someone wanted that authentic restaurant feel, and room service for the people that stayed in.
However, should you fight past all that; maybe chalk all it up to amazing service and a tired captain. You would still feel that uneasy feeling. The feeling of being someplace you shouldn't be and messing with things you couldn't possibly comprehend. The feeling of being watched all the time. The feeling that you've stepped off the edge of safety and ended up in the land where nightmares are born.
"We'll be landing in slightly over an hour," The captain's voice was tired over the loudspeakers,
"I urge you all to get to know your fellow passengers and prepare to finally step foot on the majestic island paradise of Nova Initia."
((OOC: I hope you all enjoy the RP.
