Why no fandoms?

I have seen it all, seriously. There is no character in the world today I haven't encountered before. OC characters have so much more to offer. Roleplaying is supposed to let you escape real life and how is your creativity going to last with characters that already have predetermined stories. I get the appeal of fandoms, don't get me wrong, but in my experience you never know what you're going to get from an OC until the character has been given a chance to develop. That's the real deal.

I'm interested. I'm a little rusted at the moment, since I haven't rolled played for awhile, but if you could over look that that would be great and allow myself to grow. I am opened to anything and will do so with an open mind.
