ɧulda's mind wandered with irritated impatience as Team Black was briefed on the situation. As usual, Hulda stood off toward the back of the little group, seeing no point in affirmation of orders or exchanging of pleasantries. Social interaction with Messiah Blach, first off, was entirely pointless. The man had a great deal of influence and power within the constrains of wealth and monetary resources, especially when the expenditures of the BROTHERHOOD came into question, but beyond that, he was simply a man; weak and without reason for further consideration. Hulda let the other say what they would, idly looking over her fingernails. As was usually the case, the witch was clad in as few garments as possible, her ivory hued tattoos, hair and eyes standing out in stark contrast to her chocolate skin. Within the darkness of the room necessary to project the holograph before them, Hulda's eyes glowed a quiet white brightness, evident of her near constant use of minor magics. She was barefoot, and despite the manufactured alloy of the floor beneath them, she could still feel the slight tingle of the lingering magical energies of the element properties reaching up through the souls of her feet. Again, shoes were a hindrance in her case, and besides with a simple effort, the souls of her feet could become as strong as the steel she stood upon.

Hulda followed the other out of the briefing room and into the airship with little to no interjection. She respected the two of them, of course if only for their power. She saw the child Liah as, well... exactly that. She was young, and despite her questionable lack of lineage, she was naive in many ways. Her strategies were sound, but the childish nature with which she interacted with the world was not Hulda's cup of tea. Kotaro on the other hand, was someone she could stand more than most of the other. He was professional and direct without frivolous niceties. Despite the fact that he was a man, Hulda didn't mind his presence. It was a stalwart quiet she found easing. Hulda donned her flight suit with a slight bit of disgust. It was far too much clothing to truly utilize her skills. True, the flight down would be simple with her own magic, guiding her descent effortlessly by subtly manipulating the air currents, but the use of the suit made it so that she could concentrate on masking their landing and providing them cover, which was much more tactically useful than gliding like a falling leaf to the floor below. Hulda sat in her seat, to one side of the cockpit, an unspoken reservation for her, lest someone wish to incur her wrath, and slipped into a quiet meditation until jump time.

                                                  __________ _______ ____ __ __ _

The flight down was of course simple. Hulda had flown and floated a multitude of times in her life. Manipulation of the elements of earth and air were akin to a walk in the park with her. She course down, effortlessly following in Liah's and Kotaro's wakes, hardly making an effort to keep up. As they neared the ground and Kotaro turned towards a clearing, Hulda's tattoos began to glow as she activated the runes carved into her very skin with blood and ink. Instantly the leylines of magic coursing through the air, weaving around her like the currents of a vast ocean began crystal clear in her mind. She reached out through her skin, extending her inner will outward, gripping at the moisture in the air and warming it rapid in an outward circle around the three members of Black. The air thickened as they descended and with a small amount of concentration, a cloud of fog rolled out from the air around Hulda. By the time they touched down on the soft soil and grass, the fog was thick enough around them to completely obscure their view from prying eyes. Hulda stepped out of the flightsuit with a contented sigh, tossing the garment to the ground with a look of scorn and disgust. She rolled her arms in her socket as Kotaro gave orders and disappeared into the wilderness. Liah reached to her communication device and called out to White on a broad channel. Hulda hissed in her breath reaching a hand out in a vain attempt to stop the girl, but the deed was done before she could interject and she let her hand fall back to her hip with a roll of her eyes. So much for the elements of surprise. Frankly, Hulda didn't want White to even know they were there just yet. She'd rather get a lay of the land and determine exactly what they were up against before announcing themselves, BUT Hulda wasn't the official leader of Black, as irksome as it was.

Hulda turned her back on Liah with a grumbling under her breath, stretching her toes into the blades of grass at her feet and kneeling. Her eyes shone as she planted her fingers along with her toes into the grass, reaching out through the network of roots that connected everything. The soil began to divet around her and formed a large array at her feet, encircling her form as she let Liah babble away over the comms. Hulda hated technology to an unbelieveable degree. It always interfered with magical leylines, some cities so wrapped and constricted by the devices that it was much harder to call upon magic at all. Through Hulda's senses, a map of the organisms on the island began forming, the strength of their wills' coming to her in different hues. Sentient creatures tended to shine like stars, and it was quite easy to pick out Chaotics as they blazed like furnaces. To the extent of her range, she picked up the member of White they were looking for. Without any thoroughfare she stood, releasing the spell and turning back just as Kotaro came trotting up again.

"It may seem that our inept little companions are already in the fire, so to speak," She offered, her voice level and her glowing eyes regarding the two of them. "We may want to take this a bit slower. There are much stronger Chaotics here than we may have anticipated," Hulda added, watching the girl hop onto Kotaro's shoulders with an irritated eye. Children.

Kotaro didn't really have much of an opinion of his companion, Hulda. He spent much more time and could say he got along with Liah rather than Hulda. Then again, neither of them had really attempted to initiate any sort of contact outside of these missions unless it was mandatory meetings that Liah called for them. They had a pretty stable habit of celebrating in a room made within the base for Team's did well enough. They usually had a party for themselves whenever they did well, even if some of the members weren't called to action on that specific mission. Kotaro knew this would be pretty routine and just as Messiah had said, and Hulda had re-confirmed them on, the enemies on this island were nothing to mess with it. Having the Sorceress come with them was always helpful, and her magical abilities were definitely more of a help than an Assassin searching around aimlessly for whom they were searching for. Even before all of this thinking about his companion, Liah had climbed on his shoulders, being able to see much farther than before. This was actually very helpful for Kotaro since if he missed anything, Liah could catch it. Kotaro looked back to Hulda and kept a light grip on Liah's legs to keep her stable on his shoulders. Hulda turned away shortly after this, as Kotaro raised an eyebrow at her actions. That wasn't important right now anyway. Focusing back on what Liah said, "Leader, I think we all how foolish and reckless Team White can be. The biggest thing I worry about is not them themselves but the actions they continue to take. They allow their emotions to get the best of them and they end up ruining the Brotherhood's good name with their impudence. I've even heard rumors of one of them being so scared, they'd run away from the battle. That's pretty disgraceful, if you ask me." Kotaro told them, another bad habit of his. He had much pride in the Brotherhood organization as a whole but Team White just seemed... incapable. Sure, they had skills. He could not deny that. But as a professional unit, they were some of the most unimpressive losers he had ever come to meet.

Ignoring his own personal feelings for the moment, he pondered on what Hulda said to do. "There's something that doesn't really add up to me... The Chaotics that attacked them in Neo Germany clearly were much smarter than they led them off to be. Why would Messiah and the Brotherhood send them off to such a place that Team White knew nothing about?" Kotaro had thought of this because they clearly weren't talented enough. It was quite common knowledge that you could see a group's parameters and while Team White had unlimited potential, their current potential was much less than average. Kotaro came to the quick conclusion that Messiah must have wanted to test them. There were surely easier measures though. Either way, since Team White messed up on behalf of the Brotherhood organization, he knew they were probably gonna pay for messing up. "Forget it. Hulda, I do think you are right that we should take this slow. On the same hand, we should hurry and find out the location of one of them. They probably don't have much time." Kotaro started to walk forward, waiting for Hulda to follow them. Liah was sitting atop his shoulders so there was no trouble at all. Kotaro walked a bit slowly at first, wanting top make sure there wasn't anything waiting for them. He held up a finger to Liah's mouth, telling her to keep quiet while he assessed the situation pretty quickly. He stopped completely, wanting to make sure there were no traps or anything beneath their feet. Kotaro continued to walk once his hearing caught nothing in front of them. He wondered how quickly this would take. Since there was 3 of them here, it'd probably take a bit longer. He really wished Brotherhood would think of these situations a bit more before just doing. Whatever. Messiah must of knew what he was doing.

Mina came to from her meditation just in time to be rocked to one side. She sprawled out over the deck of the ship, sequestered in the cargo bay as she was. She had always found that when people were crowding around in the bridge, it was much harder for her to complete her pre-mission meditations and focus her chakra, at least that's how she had always seen it. She needed quiet to center herself in the right mind and readied herself spiritually for the mission. But, as luck would have it, today it seemed as though she was going to be denied that prep-time, in a very ground shaking way.

Mina, righted herself with a little roll and a twist of her wrist, bringing her to land daintily on the balls of her feet, even as the ship listed to one side quite extensively. Now that she had her footing, Mina's near masterful balance came into easy play as she tried to take in her bearing mentally. Staying upright wasn't the hard part, she realized as she side-stepped a sliding crate, letting the thing crash into the port-side bulkhead with a loud thud. There was a moment of stillness, as still as a slowly tilting vessel could be, before more crates started moving to one side of the ship, one after the other. Mina could feel her weight and center of balance shifting upwards into the air and she immediately realized that the ship was losing altitude quite dramatically, even as her feet threatened to lift from the ground. That was all the warning Mina needed, using the sudden seeming loss of her mass to aid in propelling herself through the air to the storage lock-up where the parachutes were kept. In the back of her mind, Mina wondered if everyone in the bridge was alright, but she had little time to dwell on the matter. Everyone in Team White was a capable individual, and with their enigmatic Captain, it was likely that an escape plan was already underway. She slid to a stop and reached for the parachute, even as the ship started rolling quickly onto its side.

Mina shifted her weight a bit, stepping up onto the side of the locker, which she was now perpendicular to, standing and looking around a moment as crates and debris started to roll and topple onto the port-side bulk head. "Ok, Mina! Abandon ship and all that!" She said to herself with a nod, leaping across the sliding and toppling crates to the bay door in the back. Mina stooped, grabbing a wrench that was sliding along the floor and tossed it with a sudden flick of her wrist all in one motion. The improvised projectile hit the emergency latch override on the bay door and instantly the cabin of the cargo bay was filled with rushing air. Mina landed on a crate, which was now shifting its path of direction toward the back of the plane. She waited patiently for the right moment as crates tumbled past her in all direction, focusing herself, her eyes intent with concentration. When the moment arrived, Mina moved instantly, flying through the air between two tumbling crates and out into the open sky.

                                                  _____ ____ __

Mina remembered her lessons from training of proper parachute use, and she had always liked free-falling, even though the process took a little more attention when crates and the like were tumbling with her through the same space in the air. She pushed one aside to get a glimpse of the ship as it careened towards the ground, moving away from her in an arching line. She sighed inwardly as she turned her head to look at the fast approaching ground. She had taken her headset off to meditate so she wouldn't have to listen to the others jabber away in her ear, but at the current moment, she was greatly regretting that. No matter. She'd just have to orientate herself and then find a way to the ship's crash site. Mina quickly picked out a number of features in the approaching landscape that she knew she'd be able to use to find her way there before she dropped into the canopy. Mina pushed another crate away from her with a little spring of her legs, giving her enough room to deploy her chute. Looking up to make sure that no other debris was going to interfere with her decent, she pulled the rip-cord and stopped abruptly. Sure, it wasn't as graceful or handy as those air-suits the team used to normally descend, but at this point she was really just glad for the view. Choatic Island might have dangerous occupants, but the sight of it was as breath-taking as any tropical isle. Pretty... was the last thought in Mina's head as she broke through the canopy below.

The day he had been having was just turning from bad to worse. The first thing that caused this whole thing to spiral off course was the fact that Messiah sent them to Neo Germany with probably the information that it was infested with Chaotics. As if that wasn't enough, when they were finally able to escape that hellhole, the Chaotics chased after them and shot their airship down. It wasn't bad enough for them to land on another island that was also infested with Chaotics. Al was constantly bothered by Messiah's inability to warn them of the things that were coming. He knew they were supposed to have unlimited potential as Team White but that could only take them so far. He'd have to talk to him when they got back, if they didn't get completely torn apart when they got back... Al sighed and slowed his pace a little bit, quickly hiding behind some high grass and a tree. The communicator was silent. That definitely wasn't a very good sign. As he hid behind the tree, he heard a noise come from somewhere in the grass.

Feeling a light blast of wind come from behind him, he realized that the Chaotics that he had first seen on this island were cutting up the grass looking for some form of life. He guessed that either of those Chaotics he had met earlier were complicating things and searching for them. Al bit his thumb and realized that he had to meet up with some of his teammates soon. Al quickly ducked into another patch of high grass and quickly unsheathed his Okatana. Running the blade down through the Chaotic, it didn't even have time to anticipate him. Al jumped back as a dark green-colored blade came through the grass, barely missing him. Al took out his Pistol and took a few shots, and hurried forward once more.Al stopped in his tracks, sliding right towards another tree. This area was relatively clear of any grass or Chaotics, so he could take a break for the moment. That's when Al heard a familiar voice landing as he arrived there. Al took a swipe at the grass, and sliced it in half, seeing a familiar pink in his eyes. "Mina!" Al said just loud enough for her to hear him. "I'm so glad to see you. Have you seen the others? Are you okay?" Al wanted to make sure his teammate was okay before asking if she was okay but the two kind of came in reverse order. "We need to get off this island as soon as possible. I have a feeling that Messiah is going to send help for us soon and I really don't want any of the other teams to see how badly we messed up here. It would be embarrassing." Al sheathed his Okatana and holstered his pistol, offering Mina a hand up. "Come on, let's see if we can find the others."

ɧulda walked a bit behind Kotaro and Liah, her eyes closed as she took long, purposeful strides, making sure to maintain her connection with the earth. Using the stronger element to harden the soles of her feet, she had never needed to wear any sort of footwear, which was how the ivory-haired sorceress preferred it. The group ahead was scattered, but they were steadily moving. Hulda couldn't hold the spell completely with her movement, but she caught flashes of their auras in her mind, like a sonar going off each time her foot hit the earth. Her companions' auras stood out constantly in front of her, bright due to their proximity. Kotaro kept stopping from time to time, trying to orientate himself. After the second time, Hulda sighed deeply, speaking up, her eyes still closed.

"I can sense a couple of White about 3 hundred yards to your 2 o'clock. They are the only ones grouped from what I can ascertain," Hulda explained curtly, gesturing with her hand for his benefit. Team White was a newer team, it was true, and so Hulda expected them to be disorganized, inefficient and altogether worthless. Perhaps with some minuscule amount of talent they had managed to survive thus far, but it was more likely due to luck. Their failure in NeoGermany was proof of that at the very least. With the amount of Chaotics wandering the island, appearing to Hulda's mind in a vast array of pinpoints of lights in the hues of reds and purples in the distance, like a field of fireflies. It had taken Hulda a great deal of training to get this spell to this point, and to extend its effect to such a range. Towards the ends of her field of sense, the little auras faded into little more than a glow through haze, but even the haze beyond was lighted differently depending on how many Chaotics were grouped together. She knew what she was looking for, of course, but it was still easy to see bright oranges and teals and pinks of her BROTHERHOOD compatriots in the distance, standing out plainly in vasts fields of deep red and black.

"Judging by the body trail following one of the members, I assume it to be their leader. It would be wisest to rendezvous with them and determine our course of action based on what they recount of the crash," Hulda "suggested" more as an order than that, but she knew it was best, regardless of Liah's position on the team. Hulda let her seeking spell drop, finally opening her eyes. They still shone with a white light as they always did, but from her expression, it was obvious that she was growing annoyed with the mission. She was not at the top of BROTHERHOOD's program so that she could rescue its lesser agents from their own stupidity. "Shall we then?" She offered.

Mina descent through the canopy of the land below was about as one would expect with a parachute attached to ones back. As she did her best to nudges some of the branches aside as she fell through, she stopped abruptly, bouncing like a yo-yo as the chute caught in the branches. Wasting next to no time, she shifted her weight, loosening the straps and wiggling a little so she could slip free from the harness. It was still a could twenty feet to the ground below, but Mina had been jumping from vast heights for most of her life, and her training in the BROTHERHOOD had greatly improved that talent. Hitting the ground was all about how you absorbed the energy and redirected it. With one last kick of her legs, Mina was free, dropping to the ground. As she landed she let her legs loosen, rolling into the motion in a quick somersault. Once she was in a kneeling position, she stopped, brushing off the dust and twigs that had clung to her during her trip through the canopy. "Ugh... twigs everywhere..."

Mina suddenly became aware of eyes upon her, and freezing, she was suddenly met with a familiar sight. "Al! You're ok!" Mina said, her eyes going wide and her lips spreading into a wide smile. She could feel a little bit of the weight lifted at the sight of her companion. She had thought that someone might be hurt in the escape from the airship, which might still be the case, but seeing anyone in a good condition was enough to make her happier. "I'm fine!" Mina said as Alphonse came up. She frown a little, concern on her face again as he questioned her. "I... I haven't seen anyone yet. I tried looking as I descended, but the canopy is too thick in this area. Did you come from the crash-site then?" Mina asked, taking a moment to access their surroundings. She forgot to due that some time. Remarkable intuition and instinct often helped avoid blows and danger completely, so it was often that she simply forgot protocol in certain situations.

Mina took his? hers? hand as she stood. She wasn't sure which gender the Captain was today. It was more of a flight of fancy to either side. It never bothered Mina though. She had always liked Al. Mina couldn't think of a sweeter leader for their team and she considered the ravenette as a dear dear friend. Come to think of it, she regarded everyone on her team as a dear dear friend. It often made things a bit uncomfortable for others, but she was entirely unaware of that. Making sure the last of the branches from above was no longer on her person, she nodded to Al. Mina... didn't really get embarrassed, by anything really. But she understood the concept and she knew that some people were a bit more self-conscious of their appearance, performance, and many other things. It was all rather confusing to Mina. Everyone did there best. Why should it matter that someone else doesn't think so? "Sh-should we try finding the others, or maybe find cover. Have you encountered any Chaotics yet?" Mina asked, trying to hide the barest amount of excitement from her tone. Mina like, much like everyone else, Chaotics as well. They were remarkable individuals and while she didn't exactly agree with the aggression that they often demonstrated, she still liked to meet new people. And there were sooo many Chaotics out there. It was thrilling to think she would meet more. She only wished they would calm down enough for her to converse with them, get to know why they were so angry and try and help.

But... that wasn't really BROTHERHOOD's modus operandi.

where the mind lies : at least al is ok.
