Verin had initially began to drift away from reality as the situation was beginning to sink in. It wasn’t as if he hadn’t had time to think on it all, but now with their parents’ plan actually unfolding - or rather beginning, he was getting a feeling of sickness in the pit of his stomach. Apparently he wasn’t he only one, except he feared his ailment as far different from his dear sisters.

The prince stopped in his steps when the princess had suddenly displayed a look of horror, a petite hand grasping overtop her mouth. Instantly becoming concerned, he pulled her in closer, protectively; however, she darted from sight.

With a sigh he had debated on whether or not to follow suit, but decided against it. She probably needed a few moments alone, a little prep time before dinner was called and he would grant it to her. Though he as half minded to keep both his sisters close to him tonight. No one else… Of course, he doubted such a thing would happen. Especially due to Kai’s nature. She as one to take charge and had seemed to been excited about this whole ordeal. Not to mention, whereas he wasn’t exactly happy about it, Verin would say that Keishara already had a little crush on the demonic… Thing… Demons.. Really.. Demons, they had to bring ******** demons into the equation.

He sighed, fingers brushing through his hair and speaking out to whomever was still about or cared to listen. ”I’m going to go freshen up for dinner. with that, he headed up the stairs.

                                                      - - - - T I M E - S K I P - - - -

Verin now sat at the table, making sure he was in between Kei and Lai (as his protective nature demanded) and yet still seated directly across from the beautiful Nadia. His hands were clasped together beneath his chin, elbow resting on the table and smiling rather … Well he was aiming for charming, but it probably appeared more so mischievous.

There was a little conversation here and there, Verin huffing at the attempts of kindling some sort of relationship. This whole ordeal was still rather ridiculous to him and when the table was finally filled, the first thing he grabbed was a glass of wine, downing it rather quickly and then pulling the bottle to himself to refill the glass even higher than it as the first time. He was going to need a drink for the night. Especially if he’d be spending the night in his room with Nadia. It wasn’t that he didn’t’ want to be around her. She as beautiful and lovely, but it was the idea of Kei and Lai being with… Them. That was upsetting.

Either one of two things were going to happen. He was going to have to learn to let go, or he was going to have to ruin the entire affair.

XXXXAs Sage entered to room, he took a second to look over the room and people in it. He noticed Kron had lost his coat and one of the energy supplements to the floor and there was luggage on the bed further from Nadia. Luggage he could only assume was Verin’s. That realization brought a sower scowl to his face; however, his attention was turned to Kron as he spoke to the prince. Sage chuckled when Kron claimed that Nadia was being difficult. ”Obviously if you had to strip your coat for better movement to handle her.” Looking back down at the energy ball on the floor, Sage took it that his sister didn’t like the fruit. The assumption was confirmed by what Nadia spoke to him.

XXXXNadia’s voice brought his attention now to her. She still looked rather weak and feverish. Sage walked over to his sister and laid a hand to her forehead. ”I’m sorry I couldn’t get them sweeter for you. I didn’t have much time to make them perfect before we came here; however, I guess they’re not working anyway since you still look drained.” He knew the voyage here would take a toll on her, but he hadn’t imagined that it would be this bad. He wished their parents had exposed her to traveling sooner so that this trip wouldn’t have been so rough on his little sister.

XXXXA servant came up and announced that dinner was being served and she would escort them to the dining hall. The timing of this news was perfect. ”How about we go down and get some food in you? Maybe that will help you feel better,” he said to Nadia as he took her arm in his to escort her down. As they were leaving the room, Sage looked to Kron and said to him, ”Thank you for taking good care of Nadia. I’m sorry if she was too much of a handful for you today.” With that, he continued to lead Nadia to the dining hall while following the servant that knew the way.

                                                ----TIME SKIP----

XXXXOnce he had Nadia seated across from her…fiancée…Sage took a seat on the other side of the table beside Princess Keishara. He had wanted to stay by Nadia’s side; however, they were to sit across from their betrothed and since Keishara and Laiialwen were on either side of Verin, Sage had to sit elsewhere. If he couldn’t sit beside his sister then why not beside his best friend instead?

XXXXThere were so many different dishes across the table. Each seemed to be a delicacy from each kingdom. This made Sage’s mood brighten a little. He was happy for anything that made him feel at home. Sage looked down the table at everyone and caught a glimpse of Verin, drinking down his glass of wine and quickly refilling it. I guess that’s one way to deal with this, he thought.

XXXXShaking his head, Sage looked away from Verin to his sister, Keishara. They hadn’t really had the chance to actually talk since they arrived since they were both entertaining their fiancées almost immediately off the ships. Maybe they would have some time together later. For the moment, he would converse more with his fiancée and the others. Right across the table from him was Princess Agrippa. He didn’t know if she had found food before dinner was called, but at least now she would have all she needed to fill her.

Odie? What a strange but cute name. And judging by the high pitch of the grounds keeper's voice, she was either very little or young. Thus the name befit her. She gave Odie a small fragile thankful smile. "Thank you Miss Odie, for your kindness and help. Where ever you think is best. I don't much care where we go, just as long as I can freshen up and change my dress. Although I don't think the kitchen would be a good idea." She replied with a small chuckle. Feeling a touch better, and a little less nervous do to the fact that she was talking to servants.

Her ear twitched hearing the yowl of a cat. Her head turned downward and smiled softly as her finger tips touched the fur of the cat who brushed up against her leg. She gently pet the small creators head. "Hello there my little friend. You wouldn't happen to be my shape shifting husband to be would you?" She questioned as she gently stroked the cat's back. It was a shame that she didn't speak cat. Otherwise, she would have known that the cat was actually her future husband. "That would be most unwise if you were him, you see my magic negates other magics. For as long as he was beside me he wouldn't be able to shape shift. " She mused aloud with a shirt sigh."I certainly hope he is as kind and affectionate as you." She smirked as the cat nuzzled against her hand in an affectionate manner. She slowly re-erected herself as Okko spoke. To her surprise, he was much kinder then she could have predicted, especially after her sudden outburst. "Although.. I must admit a spot of hot tea sound marvelous.. How about a cup of tea first. Then if you could lead me to my quarters so that I may clean myself up and change my dress. That would be most helpful. And I truly am sorry Mister Okko, for my earlier outburst." She bowed to Okko politely, and allowed Odie to lead her toward the kitchen.

At long last she was clean, dressed in a fresh dress and feeling much better. She sat along side of her elder brother Verin. Her younger sister Kaia sitting on Verin's other side. She gently clasped Verin's hand offering him a small nervous smile. He was tense, she could feel the tightness of the muscles in his large hand. "Sorry for disappearing earlier brother. I hope that I didn't cause you too much distress. I just so suddenly became so very ill." She sighed aloud in a stressed manner sitting back in her chair. Hoping against all hope, that none of the other royals saw her in her embarrassing and fragile state. She awkwardly fell silent as she sat, the smell of the well made food sweetly seducing her making her stomach grumble hungrily. Thank goodness her stomach was no longer riddled with sea sickness. "So... " She began awkwardly as she picked up a glass of wine and lifted it to her lips drinking from it gingerly. "Have you met your faience yet?" She questioned Verin as she began to eat her meal.

Ki r i
the

Kerebos

Kiri tail started to wag quickly with the words 'Nice name.' He really like her name. How much more of an honor could he bestow on her with such words. Today had turn from s**t to fantastic. Kiri would forever name days like this s**t-atsic. "He is to kind." There was obviously something puzzling together in his mind. Not to mention the sigh did give a idea of something is wrong. When he spoke up again everything seemed to explain. It was the elven wench. How could she not have guessed. Was the woman not capable enough to take care of herself. Her prince was suppose to take care of her as well. What horrible woman she was. She was not fit to be with the soon to be lord of the demons. The kerebo's would never call her queen. Kiri would rather die. Yet when the young lord turned his head from Kiri it seemed like he had some other ideas. Kiri just didn't know what. Her ears twitched a couple times only to pick up little things like animal chatter. Kiri couldn't help but glance to the side to see a helpless little Squirrel. His silence hadn't exactly given her a reason to give full attention again. Little creatures, how adorable some of them are." The fluffy tail, bug eyes and chitter? That is what people normally liked right? Who was Kiri kidding she wasn't normal. Well, not that far from a normal demon anyway. She would be normal around other Kerebos.

With quick speed and frightening reflexes the girl dashed quickly pinning the poor thing down with one of her large paws. Her claws digging in deep to the creatures body. She wasn't trying to kill it but maybe she placed her paw down to hard. The crunch of its rib cage was more then apparent. "Aww, it died so fast." Kiri's ears twitch quickly hearing the young lord's foot pivot across the ground. She moves quickly to retain her spot. Her attention back with the man like it was never lost. "Stupid fluffy squirrel distracting me with its fluffy butt." It won't be doing that again.

When her young lord spoke up Kiri's tail froze for a moment. 'You don't seem very fond of the others, right.' Kiri lowered her head almost immediately. It wasn't like she had a friendly face. Yet, it wasn't like she liked them or wanted to for that matter. Gritting her teeth she felt like she was about to be in big trouble. "It's not that I am not fond of them? I just hate them or I might like them if they where dead." She wasn't interrupting him, Kiri was still waiting for the rest of it. What would come next 'Do you think you could do me a huge favor?' Here it comes, the horrible favor? Maybe it was going to be something like 'Be good.' or 'try to play nice.' How she dreaded the idea. The second the favor hit the air Kiri's tail started to wag rapidly. He wanted out of the marriage. He wanted her to keep the others away from him. Kiri was going to do something like that anyways. Yet this gave her the ability to pull out all the stops. She just wanted to get up and started prancing about like a new born Kerebo's bathing in the blood of her first kill. The look on her face gave off this feeling of blood thirsty. That was her excitement face mixed with happy.

Didn't need to answer right away? She technically couldn't verbally answer anyways. The answer is obvious. If he knew that Kiri didn't like them she would gladly keep them away from Prince Assar. There was so many amazing plans running through her mind. No one deserved to touch the young demon lord anyways. Of course the orders now are to head back to the castle. This gave her mixed emotions.

Sure enough the wench was waiting for them. 'Sorry about the delay.' 'I'm not cretin.' Assar was truly had a silver tongue of a true demon lord. There was no sign of the poison in each word. Kiri would gladly marvel if she wasn't glaring a bit at the so called 'fiance.' Why wasn't the woman taking his hand anyways? She should be taking his hand just as quickly as he extended it. This wench had no manners. If she really didn't mind waiting why hadn't she taking his hand? Kiri quickly placed herself between the two walking with sign of no attention to the wench. Her posture seemed to give the idea that she was just doing her guard job. When she stopped Kiri seemed to give a hint of anger. The wench spoke like a complete imbecile. How dare she made such a comment. 'Unfortunately I can't have my way in this situation..' If she truly had a back bone then far be it for her to stand up to her parents and say no. The elves had three children in this arrangement. No, Kiri did not believe for a second of this wounded animal act. Though what seemed to set her off the worse was the next words.

' I want to at least be able to say that i'm friends with the one I'm married too.' Maybe it was a bit bias. Kerebo's feed off most negative energy. Hunting or finding positive aura cause by positive emotions isn't something they truly go out of there way to find. Negative is naturally more pleasant to hunt. So maybe she didn't exactly understand the idea that some creatures need positive energy to keep sane. Never the less if the woman thought that this was her main problem she was selfish. All demon kind had one prince. One prince and that meant one future lord to lead them into the greatness of the future. This stupid little agreement has given such a large opportunity to the elves that words could not even begin to explain. Kiri hated every idea of it. To make matters worse, Royal blood line is of the highest purity and them mating is a down right travesty. Had she not thought of those who follow behind her? How will she react when she has to face the true trials of demons problems. Demons live by much different rules then the fluffy cretins. If she is to marry the prince she would need to lead. By all means what does friendship have to do with leading a nation? A nation looks upon for guidance and what do they see but a filthy queen with selfish concerns of her own better being.

Kiri's teeth started to clench her lip curling higher. Her parents died in the war between the kingdoms. There are more just like her that suffered great loss. Yet how was she going to tell them that it behind them while their own kind has a marriage in three kingdoms? How? How on earth could she demand anything out of this other then the very ability to sit beside the one who rules such a nation. He has given everything. Prince Assar will face an uprising from rebels who dispute this marriage. Yet here she stands demanding some type of forced friendship to make it easier on herself. This wench of an elf wasn't worth her weight in blood. Sadly for the woman, Kiri was extremely bias so it probably didn't matter what she would or might say. There was a golden lining. Kiri would find distaste in it. They had finally reached the room that Assar would be living in.

Her eyes glanced around the room to scan the place for traps. Smells that might be dangerous or otherwise. It wasn't up to par for what he should be residing in but what did Kiri expect. This castle was nothing more then a cage or a battle ring waiting to happen. 'I guess i could start with telling you something about myself.' "Trust me no one in this room cares." Being mute did have its advantages. The kerebo's nose brushed around while moved slowly around the room. 'I like poetry...-' "Yeah? good for you?" ' -painting - "Why not paint yourself dead?" - and singing. Believe it or not I do know how to sit down and stay quiet.' At this moment at in time. Kiri would like to call bull-harky on that. The woman was only kidding herself. It might be in her best interest to truly start fooling herself into that idea. Kiri's paw extended out to place it on to the bed. Pulling her large dog like body onto the bed only made the stands creek. In someones point of view it would be the bed screaming.

--Time skip?? --

Kiri stayed in her demon form. Her body laying between the fiance's chair and her young lord's. Her head resting softly on the floor. Today was rather tiring to say the least. The food smelled alright. Kiri would probably go hunt herself something later. Her eyes clenched tightly. Then there was the idea she couldn't really leave Assar's side. Maybe she could grab something to eat in the morning? Now she was regretting not eating the squirrel.

It was happening. He had promised they wouldn't but it was. She had been abandoned. While there was a sea of people surrounding her at the dinner table there was none that held relation or concern for her. Nadia couldn't help but feel a little resentment at Sage for the way he promptly placed her across from Verin then rushed off before a word to be with his fiancé. So easily he had forgotten about her. Nadia did not like it one bit. Looking at the grand spread of food the Princess could not even smile when catching sights of all the sweets. How was she suppose to feel when Verin so lovingly sat with his sisters on either end, the shapeshifting family sat with one another, and she was left alone. Seeing how the table was set and the seating arrangement Nadia could only guess that it was Verin that was her fiancé.

Lifting a fork the princess would pick at her food but that no action to eat it. Honestly, the pushing of the food around on her plate was more of a distraction from the anxiety bubbling up, and the tears that threatened to surface. How embarrassing it would be if anyone else were to find her crying, especially at a dinner of royals. Breathing in through her nose and releasing the breath by mouth she tried to couch her heart to settle while trying to focus on the feel of the chair beneath her and the fork in her hand. Truly anything that could prevent the tears and distract her anxiety. Why couldn't Kron have been a prince? At least then he could accompany her at the table. As it was the knowledge that he couldn't due to rank only furthered her loneliness.

Perhaps she should excuse herself? Request dinner in her room. As soon as the thought surfaced Nadia had to throw it aside. Those actions were not only cowardice they would be seen in not to favorable light surely. She was left to live in a silent torment till Lai spoke. Abruptly the fork fell from her hand and clattered against the plate. Quite mortifying with the loudness of the sound. To hopefully dispel the need for others to look at her, Nadia would quickly grasp the fork pluck a piece of leaf, and pop it into her mouth. Gods! What had she been thinking? The food, with her current anxiety, was awful! Her stomach churned and it was hard to chew much less swallow. To her glass of wine she'd go for help in washing it down while attentively listening to Verin's response.

After all was said and done between her and Assar, Keishara and her fiance were escorted to the dining room to eat...and his guard just had to tag along. As much as that bothered her she didn't make much of a reaction to it and just let it be for right now. Of course she would be sitting next to her brother, she knew he would have preferred it that way so he could keep an eye on both his sisters and make sure things were alright with them but she did wish he would lighten up just a bit even if it was difficult. When she saw him drink the wine she could only chuckle at it and nudge him lightly. "I don't think you need so much wine Verin, I wouldn't want you getting drunk here already." Hopefully things would get better from here on out but she had her reasons to doubt that.

Once Assar had sat himself across from her, she felt his guard until the table between the two of them as if she was trying to keep them separated. "I love all creatures...I do...but this is getting difficult.." she thought as she tried to ignore it. In all honesty she hated being near that guard and constantly got bad vibes from her, she was scary and Keishara had every reason to believe that this guard would be out to hurt her with or without the prince's consent. Keishara was a bit weary of the prince as well but he seemed more tolerant, sharing a room together would just be more of a challenge than she would have liked. Besides that her spirits were lifted when Sage and Nadia came into the room, he even sat down next to her which made her smile. Nadia though, seemed a bit tired and upset at the same time and it made her wonder why. Nadia was always a sweet girl to her and she was really hoping they could become friends while they were here, thing was there was just so much to really deal with that it was really unsure if she would get the chance to become very close with her.

"It's good to see you again Sage. Have you gotten to see your room or anything yet?" Keishara asked him before turning her attention over to her brother when Laii mentioned his fiance and suddenly heard Nadia's fork hit her plate. Well her brother wasn't the best person in the world but he wasn't terrible to say the least..'Nadia are you alright? You seem a bit on edge.." she asked curiously just to make sure she well. Even seeing her take a bite out of her food didn't convince Keishara much though if she didn't want to say anything she wouldn't make her. While awaiting an answer, the woman began to eat some of her food and take a sip of her red wine every now and then. This was nice to some extent but she really wished she could go outside and explore or do something..she was never the type to enjoy the indoors for very long as it is.

Derk couldn't say he wasn't happy when Laiialwen greeted him with a friendly petting. He couldn't stop the purr from erupting from his throat as he nuzzled her hand. He was surprised, though, to her her explanation for the lack of his magic. Laiialwen could cancel out his magic? He would be stuck in this form as long as he was by her? That was a very odd predicament to be sure, but it wasn't exactly the end of his world. Being a cat was much nicer anyways! Except that she didn't realize it was him. Which also wasn't the end of the world the more he thought about it. Derk doubted that she would be this physically affectionate if she realized he was indeed her fiance.

Perhaps he'd tell her about it later.

---------------

He didn't tell her about it. Why didn't he tell her?

Guilt rolled around in Derk's stomach as he made his way hastily to dinner. He had accompanied her to her room and then she started getting ready and he should have just left but her pale skin was so beautiful and her hands just kept brushing his fur with so much kindness and...well... now he was late. And guilty. Straightening his vest and running a hand through his thick, black hair, he stepped into the dining hall and did his best to hide how flustered he was.

"Sorry I'm late. Got a bit tangled in my thoughts," Derk mumbled as he slid into his seat beside Nadia and across from Laiialwen. Oh god. Laiialwen. Not long ago he'd seen her... "You look beautiful as ever, Princess," It sure was a good thing that she was blind so she couldn't see the massive blush spreading across his cheeks. That was terrible to think. What was he doing?!

Why didn't he tell her?

Assar Aron Hall
The One and Only Prince of Zephyr

"Our opinions does not matter, so let's just get it over with."

Well, he hadn't intended to ignore anyone, he was just, tired. The entire situation of an arranged marriage and all was just so frustrating in a way, not to mention he had to act nice and friendly and all to make a good impression, as he didn't want to cause trouble fof his family or anything like that, so it was, draining. But he was doing his best. And reaching their room and all, he had to say, he didn't like the idea of sharing room with a woman. Honestly, he didn't like the idea of sharing rooms at all. No personal space, meaning that he couldn't really get changed or anything in the room, unless she was somewhere else, and same goes for her, not a chance she could get changed while he was in there. God, this would be awkward. Honestly, if it had only been him and Kiri, that would have been easier, as long as she's in the dog form, since that honestly does help a bit. He probably would be awkward around her as well though if she had a human form at the moment though.

But different from most, he hadn't exactly packed much. Just two sets of spare clothes, and his weapons, but as he did wear them on him at all times, hidden under his sleeves, that didn't exactly count, now did it? But for a royal, he certainly did travel light. But then again, everything he might need should already be here, right? As long as there was somewhere to sleep, something to eat some of course, being able to wash up was a bonus, but since all that was already here, he was all set. He didn't really need anything else but that, so unpacking on his part was pretty quick. And as the princess spoke to him, telling him about what she likes and such, he didn't have much to comment on that really. Was good for her, but he didn't have an opinion of it really. So he might seem rather boring.

tab "That's nice to know. Afraid I don't have much to comment with, and I have a feeling that my interests would be quite boring for you to hear about. Wouldn't want to bore you to tears the first thing I do, so let's save that for some other time."

He didn't really have much interests. Reading was probably one of the few things he ever did when he didn't work. He was dedicated to his role as the only prince of Zephyr after all, so he wasn't settling for doing a half arsed job, and rarely took time to just, kick back and enjoy himself. He was always busy with something, so being here, he wasn't sure what he'd do to pass his time, except for maybe reading a book or two. Even if he acted nice, friendly chit chats wasn't his thing.

                                    tab --- TIME SKIP ---

With everyone finally gathered to eat and all, honestly, he wasn't really in much of a mood to eat, but at the same time, would be horribly rude not to at the least try something from the feast served to them when knowing that someone had been slaving away just to provide it for them, so he'd go ahead and eat some anyhow. Suppose he could use the extra energy anyhow. And he'd make sure to properly thank the chef for making it later as well. Due to some, past life experiences, he knew more than well enough not to take everything for granted, so if someone did something nice for you and worked hard to do so, you should always be grateful for it. Besides, it was important to let people know that their efforts were appreciated.

But for now, suppose he'd have to focus on the people around him. Being seated across of Keishara, and next to a quite, anxious and nervous looking Nadia whom looked as if she might just get up and run away at any moment. And the mocking bird prince was sitting pretty close as well. Would be, an awkward dinner, no doubt about that. Couldn't Verin try say something to make his nervous fiancée relax a bit? Assar could certainly think up quite a number of ways to perhaps help the princess relax. Honestly, Verin could at the very least ask her what he could do. Was a bit annoying to be sitting next to a nervous wreck. But since Verin didn't seem to be reacting, Assar turned his attention to Nadia for a moment, giving her a friendly smile, hoping that perhaps he could help her relax a bit, since it was kind of driving him nuts that she was so on edge.

tab "Princess Nadia, is there anything any of us could do in order to help you relax a bit more? As Princess Keishara said, you do seem very on edge, so if there is anything we can do or anything you need, please let us know. After all, we are all stuck here together, so we should look out for each others well-being."

Sure, he was pretty much speaking for everyone without really asking their permission, but he doubted that people would complain if it would help her relax some. And waiting to see how she might respond, he went ahead and poured himself some water. Everyone else was drinking wine it seems, but Assar didn't mix well with alcohol, so he figured that for not just his own sake, but for everyone's sake, he'd stick to water. Probably just made him seem even more dull though, but so be it. He wasn't going to risk making a fool out of himself in front of the other royals, even if some of them really didn't seem to care what they made themselves look like in front of others.

XXXXEveryone was now seated at the large table and Sage’s thoughts were beginning to become frantic as he thought of what to talk about. Luckily, Keishara’s lovely voice chimed in, which helped calm his crazy mind. “It’s good to see you again Sage. Have you gotten to see your room or anything yet?” Sage looked down at his friend and smiled brightly at her. ”It is great to see you again as well Keishara,” he responded, reaching over and gently squeezing her hand as he said it. Instead of pulling his hand back to himself, he left if resting atop Kei’s and stroked his thumb across it as he continued to speak. ”No, I haven’t had the chance to see my room yet. I’ve only seen Nadia’s room when I went to check on her just before dinner. But before I go to the rooms, I’d really like to explore around the castle. Especially to see if there are any hidden lakes anywhere. I really miss it under the sea.” He hoped that Kei remembered their phrase codes for when they wanted to sneak off to have alone time.

XXXXAs he spoke to Keishara, he overheard her older sister ask Verin if he had met his fiancée yet. He looked across the table, first to Laiialwen and then to Nadia. Sage hadn’t thought about the fact that Nadia hadn’t yet really met everyone since their parents had always kept her home during kingdom gatherings. Because of her “illness” they never thought it wise to have her travel and overexert herself. The question seemed to have startled his little sister as well because she seemed very anxious and, after hearing Laiialwen’s question, abruptly dropped her fork and became very timid. The food didn’t seem to be helping her either. If anything she was beginning to look more ill. Sage wanted to kill his father for not preparing her more for this trip. It was like throwing her to well-groomed wolves.

XXXXEveryone seemed to become focused and worried about Nadia after her jumpy reaction. Both Kei and the demon prince were asking her how she was now, though the prince sounded more exasperated by Nadia than truly worried about her. To help take the attention off of Nadia, Sage chimed in to help her. ”Don’t fret, don’t fret. She’s just very worn out from the long travel here and hasn’t had the time to recover yet.” Sage reached across the table and lightly touched his little sister’s hand. Giving her that warm, brotherly smile of his, he said to her, ”It’s wonderful how string you are being, Nadia, but I think you should finish dinner in your room and rest for the night. I’ll walk you back.”

XXXXSage brought his hand back to his side of the table and pushed back his chair, letting go of his only he had on Keishara’s hand discretely. He stood and walked around the table to Nadia’s chair, pulling it out for her to easily stand. ”I’m sorry everyone that we have to leave you so soon. Please continue to enjoy the wonderful meal.” Sage didn’t want to leave yet, but Nadia’s well-being was far more important than socializing with the others. While awaiting Nadia, Sage eyed the sweet rolls on the table. He and his sister both loved sweets and, though she didn’t look like she could eat one now, he was sure she would love one for later. Sage nabbed up two of the rolls for them for later and then extended his arm to his sister so she had support as they walked to the room. While Nadia could still not see his face, Sage looked back to Keishara and winked at her, giving the promise that this didn’t change their later plans.

When Laiialwen took his hand in her own, he relaxed just a bit, rather enjoying the comfort that she supplied. The apology wasn't needed. He had very well understand why she needed to run off and have a moment to herself. Aside from upping everything her stomach held, Lai just needed a bit of quiet. A mere smile of his was offered. Though then she asked if he had a chance to meet his betrothed and as if on cue, Nadia dropped her silverware.

"How reserved of you." he mumbled beneath his breath, cheek pressing into the palm of his hand as he finished his second glass of wine. How easily nervous she became. It was humorous to him really, but what had she to be edgy about? They were all sitting at the table eating dinner and Nadia was a wreck. Perhaps it was because he'd yet to introduce himself to her, but why was it his responsibility. The princess could always approach him first. Would it be that difficult.

Though he did find it funny how almost everyone seemed to go directly to her aid. First his sister Kei and then Assar and Sage. Verin took a moment to look over to Derk when he finally seated himself and greeted his sister. Well he could almost deal with the dog. The male was just as shy as his fiancé and at least polite towards Kei. ”No worries, Keishara. Should know by now I have a high tolerance to alcohol.” he spoke, eyes averting from Derk to Kei and then Sage and Nadia.

Was she honestly now cowering away from dinner. ”That’s nonsense.” Verin spoke out-loud, this time looking at Nadia directly. He understood how uneasy she felt and it was that weakness showing through that bothered him at the moment. Maybe it wasn’t her period. Maybe he was just so sullen he needed a verbal punching bag and the fishy princess was leaving herself wide open. ”She looks in good health to me.” he put in his two cents, taking yet another glass of wine. Tilting the glass to the left and then to the right, he sighed. This stuff wasn’t going to get him even so much as buzzed anytime soon. There had to be something stronger in this damned place. ”If my blind sister, who not long ago was puking out her guts, is able to stay at the table…. Then I don’t see any reason for you to leave, princess he sneered, catching the glares from some and not much caring. Their opinions didn’t matter, but their reactions could at least provide him entertainment.

After all he desired an outlet and my wouldn’t it be wonderful if he found himself a sparring partner. Maybe Assar, who clearly already had a distaste for the elf. Definitely not Derk, he was to fragile. Sage was a good partner though, the two had sparred in the past and it’d be fun to see if he’d improved any. Ha, he’d even be interested in the guards and what they’d to offer.

”Fine, princess, run off and cower in our room.” pushing back his own chair, Verin stood and walked around the table. ”I’m going to see if they have anything stronger than that sissy wine on the table. I’ll be right back.”

Their emotions. Naida had yet to realize they were only twisting her own emotions and the agitation was rising to the forefront. It became an irritant till suddenly one of the female elves would speak to her. Great! The emotional turmoil inside of her was clearly bubbling over the surface. Nadia typically adored the elven Princesses but was rather irritated that she'd pointed out the fact she appeared on edge. Did she not have an ounce of compassionate not to blurt that out to all? Before Nadia could say a word further the demonic Prince would sit then speak. His words were a facade. He could less about her. Even more, she could feel the irritation he felt at her, and it was like a dagger just poking at her skin trying to cause blood to spill. Abruptly standing the tears were now replaced by anger and lips parted to give them all an earful till suddenly Sage was up and by her side.

Did he see she was about to snap and was trying to keep it at bay. His words only increased her boiling point. He didn't care for her. Obviously he wanted her out of the way so he could continue on conversing with his fiancee and that other Princess. What set her over the edge? Verin's words. He saw her as weak and Nadia detested that knowledge. On the other hand she felt gratitude for him. Out of all the royals here he was the one that was true to his own feelings and didn't hide behind false words. Still, his words did deserve a retort of some sort, without further ado the Princess would grab her lingering glass of wine moving away from her brother ignoring his out stretched hand she'd move to block Prince Verin's path "Oh Verin wait a moment would you? Let me help you with your request of stronger wine" and without further preamble the Princess would toss the wine ever so lovingly in his face.

"There. My wine certainly becomes you." turning she'd drop the glass on the table then fixate on the demonic prince. "And you filth, do not dare to speak to me as if you hold concern over my well being. You may be able to con others with your serpents tongue, but I know your true feelings and they are far from reflecting any sort of concern for my well being." Sage was probably panicking at her behavior but Nadia couldn't hold back the anger that was spewing over. In all honesty it was actually pretty refreshing. Turning back to her brother she'd poke him in the chest and speak to him in a more subdued and hurtful voice. "As for you Sage. I would think much better of you. You are as much a liar as the rest of them, save Verin. Thank gods there is one honest soul. I do not need your escort nor do you truly wish to give it. Go back to your Princesses." with that she'd steal a pastry then brush past him to move towards the stairs.

For a moment she'd pause and look over her shoulder to the now wine drenched Prince. Nadia couldn't help the little chuckle that escaped at the look he gave. Simply murderous. "Oh and Verin. A word for the wise. What I will be doing behind our closed doors will be far from cowarding. Enjoy your meal everyone" and with that Nadia would storm out of the room and to the room she'd been lead to earlier. She'd leave Verin wondering just what she meant by her words. He'd probably think she was plotting his death or something. Far from the truth. Nadia had been thinking of Kron and what she'd been distracted with before her brother interrupted him. Would he still be in her room? Hopefully he would. After all he hadn't been given leave to follow them.

Storming into the room she'd slam the door before slumping against them with a ragged breath of relief. "Kron you are not going to believe how terribly rude and spoiled I have just acted. I am pretty certain I just lost my chance of befriending any one of them." actually...he'd probably believe it from the way she'd behaved when he'd parted their physical closeness earlier. Pushing off the door Naida would sweep her hair up and grab a pin from the nearby vanity to hold her hair up. She needed a cool breeze against the back of her neck she was feeling a bit overwhelmed, out of her element, and plain exhausted. "I believe Sage might be regretting the fact that he brought me." that thought brought a short laugh. "Though the look on that Prince's face when he got my wine of glass in his face." this time there was amusement in her laughter that fell, "Now that was priceless. If there was any enjoyment out of my night that was it. Come you should have a taste of this pastry it is actually rather good" the last coming out slightly muffled from the bite she'd had taken of it. Nadia was curious how Verin would react. Would he come hunt her down? She almost wished he would. Then perhaps she could bring up his feelings on the marriages and maybe...just maybe find an accomplish in ending this farce of arranged marriages.

XXXXSage was hoping that everyone would be at least a little understanding to why he wanted to have his sister leave, but of course Verin had to open his loud mouth and ruin it all. Sage’s blood boiled hotter and hotter as the elven prince continued to talk bad about Nadia, comparing her health to that of Laiialwen’s. If it wasn’t for his blasted sister and her energy-draining powers being here then Nadia would feel better! Almost all of this is new to Nadia, including everyone’s abilities. Nadia’s power was probably being drastically drained by Laiialwen and can’t even tell because of her already weakened state.

XXXXAll of a sudden, Nadia stood from her chair. She looked even more enraged by Verin’s words than Sage was. He had thought that she would want to leave; however, her next action shocked the scales off of him. She actually through her wine on Verin and then blew up at the demon prince. What really startled Sage were her words to him. They made him feel like a complete jerk. He hadn’t meant for his emotions to upset his sister, but he should have shielded them never-the-less. Sage glanced away from Nadia with a pained frown. He couldn’t bear to look at his sister and see the anger and hurt in her eyes and the fact that he had a part in those feelings made it even more unbearable. As she left the room, he still couldn’t look at her. I’ll definitely be begging for forgiveness later, but for now I’ll leave her alone to simmer down. Sage felt like such a horrible person and brother to have been inconsiderate of Nadia like that.

XXXXMovement by Verin to leave the room caught Sage’s eye. He still wanted to confront the jerk for what he said so he decided to follow him. Bowing his head slightly to everyone, Sage left the room behind Verin and followed him to…the kitchen. Well I guess he can’t go to his room and wash up right now. Verin started washing his face after having asked the cook for his permission to use the sink.

XXXXSage’s anger began to boil again at the sight of Verin. He looked up at the cook and gave him an apologizing look before he lobbed one of the sugar rolls straight at Verin’s obnoxious head. ”Where do you get off speaking to Nadia that way?"Sage shouted out. The cook kind of looked at the two and said to just not destroy his kitchen before leaving the two princes alone. When the cook was out of the room, Sage looked back to Verin and prompted him again for an answer, "What the hell was all that about Verin?”. He debated hitting him with another roll; however, Sage figured he should hold on to it for later ammunition.

Keishara smiled softly at Sage when he spoke to her as kindly as he always did. Talking to him made things a little bit easier but when he spoke more she had a good idea of what he was doing, since Verin never really left them alone to speak with one another they had code words for certain things so she knew exactly what he was talking about. "Oh I understand. I wish I knew what it was like being under the sea, I'm sure it would be a whole new world for me." she said with a light chuckle. Her attention soon turned back to Assar when he asked about Nadia's obvious condition as well. At least people were showing concern for her but that didn't seem to end to well after hearing her own brother's comments.

"Verin! We both know that wasn't necessary..!" she stated but things began to go downhill and quickly. She was shocked by Nadia's sudden response and how she referred to her as just another princess or something and that stung a bit. She could tell her response hurt Sage as well since he really did care about her well being. When it came to Verin though she didn't really blame Nadia for throwing her wine on him since he was being so rude, wouldn't be the first time someone had done that to him anyway. Maybe one day her brother could actually be more considerate of others but she felt that would happen as soon as pigs flied. Keishara watched Nadia storm off and noticed Sage go to the kitchen to confront her brother. This was turning from bad to worse in a matter of minutes and it just showed that this whole marriage was such a bad idea! Since she did feel somewhat responsible for Nadia's outburst she wanted to talk to the young woman to make sure she was alright.

"Um..i'm sorry please excuse me.." she said before getting up and making her way towards Nadia's room. Once she had arrived she could hear her in there speaking to someone, her guard maybe? But that was the least of her concerns. Keishara did hope the girl would give her the chance to apologize and just open the door for her. With a deep sigh she knocked on the door loud enough for her to hear, hoping to get her attention. "Nadia? It's me Keishara...look I know your mad but can you at least hear me out? I know this may be a one sided apology but I do apologize for my brother's words and behavior towards you. It was wrong of him to say those things to you so I don't blame you for reacting the way you did. I know it might mean more coming from him but I wanted to say something on his behalf. But now I want to apologize for my own wrong doings. I shouldn't have said anything while everyone else was there but I was concerned for you and I suppose I didn't think that thoroughly on my actions. I'm really sorry how all this turned out...can you at least open the door? I'd feel that you would only find my apology sincere if we were actually face to face" She really didn't want her and Nadia to be on bad terms with each other and if there was something that could be a friendship between them then she didn't want what happened to ruin it.

                                      Where am I: Nadia's room
                                      Who I'm with: no one

Assar Aron Hall
The One and Only Prince of Zephyr

"Our opinions does not matter, so let's just get it over with."

Not even Assar could avoid giving the elven prince a nasty glare at his comments. He was taking it way too far, and even using his sister as a sample? That was just despicable. Not to mention that speaking of such things at dinner was just plain out bad manners. He was about to comment at the prince, but it seems the mermaid princess got to him first. Her sudden outburst and tossing wine in the princes face, at first, Assar was a bit shocked, but after a few moments, he did find it difficult to hold back laughter. At the least till the princess anger was turned towards him, and he got an earful as well. Sure, he was a bit taken back by it, but he didn't really take any offence, nor was he upset about the sudden outburst. If anything, it was, honestly somewhat refreshing. She certainly had more of a demon attitude than a mermaid attitude in his opinion. That outburst certainly just improved his opinion of the princess no doubt. She had appeared so weak and fragile at first, and now she was really letting it all out. It was enjoyable to see, even if it meant he got a scolding from her as well.

So once the princess stormed off and people were scattering up after her outburst, he was honestly in an unusually good mood. Such a shame that someone like that would be wasted on prince mockingbird. But as everyone scattered, he didn't really have a reason for leaving the table. Even if there wasn't many of them left. Seems like all of them would have difficulties to get along huh? But if he got the chance, he'd certainly like to speak to the mermaid princess about her outburst there. Thanks to that he had actually taken a bit of a shine to her, even if it was more that he admired her for having such an outburst, even at her own brother. Different from them, if he'd go have such an outburst, there wasn't anyone that would forgive him for it. From what he could tell, no one actually did seem to like him, with the exception of his guard dog that is, but that didn't really count to be honest. Not to mention, differently from them, he hadn't actually been around them or barely even meet them in the past. As far as he could recall, he had only ever meet any of them just once in the past, so he didn't have any bounds with them at all. And due to past events, he had lived a quite isolated life the last sixteen years, so he honestly didn't know anything about making friends or forming bonds. It was all completely alien to him. If he didn't put up the façade, he probably would have already killed someone by now, and he did doubt that would be appreciated.

But noticing as Verin and Sage had gone into the kitchen, probably to argue, he didn't like that. But he wouldn't stop them, unless they started breaking stuff or anything like that. Then he'd step in. He had far more respect for people whom actually worked here than for other royals, since they were the ones whom made sure they could live comfortable thanks to their back breaking labour, so he'd have no tolerance if anyone made life difficult for the workers here. So he was certainly keeping an ear out for sounds of things breaking from there.

But as it wasn't many of them left by the table, and that of course meant that the food would be wasted, he figured there was no harm in allowing his guard dog to join the few of them left here for a meal. She might be hungry anyhow, right?

tab "Kiri, are you hungry? I would rather that you join me and eat rather than lay around waiting like that."

His parents were not around, so that meant he could invite whoever he wished to, to join the meal, rather than having those of lower status wait around for scraps. Besides, he did have a weak spot for dogs, so he couldn't help himself but to probably be a bit nicer towards her than he should be huh? But anyone whom worked for royalties in one way or another had his full respect. So he could never be mean or rude towards servants or anything. He had learned plenty of important lessons the hard way in the past, just how much work was put into making royalties happy, or upper classes at all really. If he was to become king, he was not to become one of those whom stepped on others to make himself feel good. He wouldn't be able to live with himself if he did.

Verin was definitely rather shocked by Nadia’s sudden outburst. Such a reaction wasn’t expected from her of all people. He gave a rather dull expression, palm of his hand rubbing over eyes to dry them of the liquid. Oh ho ho, she was going to pay for that later. And what exactly was she talking about, behind doors. Well tonight was going to prove interesting in the very least. If anything, she’d bet he was going to get his a** handed to him. Well he couldn’t say he didn’t appreciate a princess that could fight back. That was rather exciting.

Without another word Verin stepped into the kitchen and requested to use the sink. The chef had a rather surprised look on his face at Verin’s soaked features and stained shirt. Then the sudden sweet roll attack at his head made him jump and he merely begged they’d not leave his kitchen in ruins before he stepped out and let them in privacy.

                                                      Perfect.

Verin closed the distance between the two of them, grabbing the red head's wrist and backing him up roughly against the wall. The look of resentment upon his face was almost immediately clouded over by an unmistakable blush. The elf flashed an impish grin and snatched the sweet roll out of his hand, ripping off a small piece of the bread and slipping it sweetly between Sage's lips. "That was all about me becoming irritated with this entire ordeal. I didn't sign up for any of this. Though I understand that none of us have." Taking a firm grip of Sage's chin with his index and thumb, words continued. "I know you're going to go on about how I need to consider others feelings and not act like an a** and bla bla bla, but the truth is, as your dear sister stated, I don't care to make pretend" he tilted his head back and inched his face closer. "And the awful truth about that is - You. Love. It."

Not another second was wasted. The gap between the two vanished and he pressed his lips quite firmly against the merman’s’. Verin’s breath was probably thick with the scent of the wine, but Sage’s lips were sweet to the taste. He let the roll drop to the floor and slipped his hand to gracefully glide fingers through fiery locks, resting on the back of his head.

It wasn’t a sudden attack on the other prince. No, Verin and Sages’ relationship was something that had started long ago. Verin, prince of Milinia, had always been known as the trouble-maker and people half the time avoided him upon arriving at those glorious annual balls. Sage, however, one night decided to confront the male while he was obviously intoxicated. It went on as that for many years. They’d arrive, Verin would be an a**, get wasted and then Sage would follow to comfort him. Why? What was he trying to do? How could possibly care about the mistreatment of someone who brought it upon themselves. Clearly Verin asked for cold shoulders and knifing glares.

Breaking from his lips, he kissed his cheek and then moved down and kissed his neck before speaking quietly. ”Do you see me as a project?” he asked, honestly curious. ”I’m an inconsiderate a**, I won’t deny it. What are your reasons for wanting that?” another gentle kiss ”Do you think you can fix me? Make me better? An acceptable prince maybe? A reasonable husband for your sister?” he chuckled. ”Or maybe you just enjoy the abuse.” Without warning Verin bit down upon his curve of his neck, roughly, teasingly massaging the now-tender mark with the tip of his tongue.

If it wasn’t for the fact that the others were right in the next room, he might’ve forced Mr. Gills into submission right then and there. Just like the first night they had ever been intimate. It was after Sage and Keishara had wandered off together to chat. The jealousy that had boiled up inside finally made Verin realize his lust for the prince of Seresada. Acting like a over-protective and concerned older brother, he chased Keishara away and then kept Sage to himself…. Sage was willing every step. It was the first time he had ever been intimate with another male and the only time.

”This marriage is wrong in so many ways… We, Sage, are wrong…. The worse part is that now I’m actually considering pushing through it all. Your sister has a bit of spice to her and that’s exactly what she’ll need to be able to put up with me, but the best part is if I marry her then I’ll never lose you…..” it could be processed as a threat or any other way he took it, not that it mattered. Verin was a hard fellow to understand. There were of course reasons he acted out the way he did, reasons he said the things he did - but you, my reader, will discover all that later on. One surprise as a time, right.

Sage was about to speak, but Verin cut him off by kissing his open mouth passionately, hushing him. The heat emitting from the both of them was amazing, but such a close proximity to the other group was unacceptable. Again the kiss broke. ”I can’t say that I’m not an honorable man though. We may never part, but if I were to truly wed your sister, then I would stick to my vowels and stay loyal..” it was said with a heavy heart, but even he had a his standards. Sleeping with Sage while married to his sister was unacceptable. What he was doing now was unacceptable, but desired. ”So we better get whatever we can out of our system before the those wedding bells chime in. We have a few weeks of play, don‘t we?”

Verin finally released Sage with a smug look upon his face. ”If it makes you feel better, love, I’m sorry he chuckled stepping past the reddened man and back into the dinning room.

Taking his seat back next to Laii, he could feel how upset she was with his words and actions. Verin decided to act as though he didn’t notice and snatched a grape up from a near plate, popping it in between his lips. ”So Prince Assar,” he smiled, looking over at the prince. ”Tell me, do you spar? I was thinking us guys could get a little work-out in. After all I’m pretty sure you’re ready to have a little piece of me by now.” he laughed. ”What about you, puppy” he then looked to Derk. Honestly sword play was a favorite of his and he was hoping at least one of them would be interested.
