Leo rolled his eyes slightly as Vida spoke about her picture on the wall. Really, did they think that highly of her? What, was she a possessed saint or something? She was definitely not a saint, and he knew that first hand with their first encounter. She was not a sweet little thing. In fact, she was deadly, psychotic even. She attacked him and Fran with no warning. What exactly was she? He knew she was more than an average human, with her hair and all. All of those eyeballs. It was creepy!

He glanced at Vida in the corner of his eye again and only turned when Monica came by to drop off more coffee and tea. “Thanks, sweetheart.” He mumbled to the woman before she left. He picked up his cup again and took a sip. All he wanted was some peace with his fellow knight and a good cup of coffee. But with all that was happening, the coffee started to taste far too bitter for his liking and he could tell Damien and Alita wanted out as soon as possible. He did too. What was the point to talking to an enemy? Over tea and coffee none the less!

But Vida insisted that they talk, which made Leo sigh deeply. “Alright, we can talk. But if you start screaming s**t, I won’t hesitate to drop you off the side of a five story building.” He said calmly, bringing up his cup as she spoke and then sipping right after. He noticed the eyes on her hair appear again, and quickly glanced to Damien to see what his reaction was. “Creepy, huh?” He muttered to him. He turned to watch her use her hair to pick up her cup. He wondered how she was still able to do that, seeing as she looked very weak. Maybe it didn’t take as much energy out of her?

‘At least someone got to his bed last night.’

The tanned man could sympathise with Leo. Dealing with his Lady of Emerald on any day could easily be considered as a shitty day. Everyday must be a shitty day for Leo. He could also sympathise with that.

As the commotion buzzed away, he watched his Lady of Diamond eating her meal as fast as she could. Although hyperactive and talkative, Alita was very attentive and cautious—which brought him a bit of peace of mind. The moment she realized they were sitting in a delicate situation, she fell instantly quieter and more alert. Had they been dealing with Fran, the red head would have stormed out to help the unconscious Vida and perhaps do worst. It seems that his protégé had also caught into the fact that Leo was a knight. Instead of blurting out questions, she did everything not to cause any trouble. That alone provoked a faint smile on his face. And it hid behind his held cup of coffee.

With his friend’s new warning, Damien lost all interest in drinking coffee. After setting the cup down on the table, Damien idly held the warm object with his hands and nodded solemnly to Leo. The last thing he wanted to do is expose his anger like he did earlier when Leo and Alita teased him.

Moments later, the object of Leo’s anger came back to the restaurant. He witnessed the most ridiculous and exaggerated occurrence. These brainwashed humans acted as if they were looking at a porn star walking down the red carpet. Did the woman have the ability to hypnotize her customers? It surely seemed like it. She must have the ability to camouflage her repulsive personality and physique as well. The moment she passed by and took a seat nearby, Damien glanced away. The picture frame was the only thing he was going to look for more than a minute.

His jaw clenched forcefully as the woman began to speak. As a regular customer, he never recalled a talkative blonde employee—at least, not one with such disgustingly vulgar and arrogant vocabulary. How quaint, a prideful little whore. ‘A little more, I’d say Leo had hit her pretty hard on the head. Look, she’s smitten by him. It almost seems like she’s flirting with Leo.’ The more he heard, the more his brain bled. Vida could fool people into believing she was a saint. She could fool them into believe she was all that threatening. However, Damien saw through her. She wasn’t testing their patience or their limits. She was trying to reassure herself, telling herself that the crowd could bring her safety. She spoke and provoked because she actively seeking for a form of security. Although Leo and he were angry they wouldn’t be able to strike without causing any trouble. There were too many bystanders. It must be nice to flaunt the only thing that’s keeping her from getting hurt again. She was scared. Petrified even. And she tried to show them she was not afraid. Sucks to be her.

He placed his hand over his cup as Monica came back, glancing at Vida. The last thing he wanted as a refill that tasted like s**t at the moment. He lifted one hand to Monica and used his other free hand to pull out paper bills from his pocket. That amount should have been more than enough to cover their coffee and Alita’s breakfast.

When Leo spoke to him again, Damien shifted his gaze to look at the blonde woman. Earlier he noticed Vida was playing with her hair a lot, now her blonde hair had eyes. ‘Right. She happens to be that nervous.’ Nervous enough to flash her main method of attack and defense. “Wonderful,” the man grumbled in response Leo’s remark. He had seen a lot of supernatural things in his life. Seeing a monster trapped in a human vessel was relatively new.

He trained his eyes on his more pleasant company (Alita and Leo) and studied their faces. His anger was escalating in sync with Leo's. Obviously, oh-so-adored porn star had no clue who she was dealing with. Damien was still able to control his anger but he could not very well say the same about his comrade. After all, when engaged in a battle, Damien often called Leo 'The Hulk'. The brunette always lived up to his nickname for he can rarely contain his anger. To push the conversation any further would be disastrous.

“We could talk but we won’t,” Damien had finally decided. He pushed himself up and straightened his back. He motioned his protégé to do the same. She desired company but they weren’t obliged to stay. They weren’t her little toys and they had better things to do other than binding their anger. He could not stomach his coffee anymore, her presence even less. Readjusting his glasses, Damien added, “Considering how many fans you have in the café, I’m sure you will find a more suitable company for a pretentious smart talk.” If anything, pretending wasn't something Damien was awfully skilled with. Regardless, the weakened Vida would not die without her object of interest: Leo. She can resume her amourous and bullshit talk another time.

He waited for Alita to come to his side, placed his hands on her shoulders, and looked back at Leo.

                      How pathetic.

Was this really how the Knight of Sapphire was destined to die? Between the jaws of one of the hideous monsters that he was supposedly destined to defend others from, before he'd even gotten a chance to do so and fulfil his role? A round of applause to the guy in the sky running the show for his dreadfully dark sense of humour... after all, he really knew how to screw with people. First, have Colin's Lord be Severin White, the one person in the world that he never wanted to have the displeasure of talking to ever again and then proceed to inform him of this late one night after his new Lord had gotten himself good and piss-drunk. And when Colin is nicely riled up over the whole thing, enough so to go against every rule in his book and skip class over it, have a few of the other-worldly creatures gobble him up for breakfast as a means of shoving the irony down his throat.

Colin gasped for as the teeth plunged further into his abdomen. The stench burned his lungs, and with his throat already so sore from the previous screams of pain that had been running through it, he couldn't find the voice to summon anything more than a couple grunts of pain. He felt suction from the beast's mouth as it vacuumed up the flowing blood, like one would do when biting into a juicy peach. Was that what he was? A juicy peach? Profanities slipped out of his mouth, and he attempted to use what meagre strength he could summon to push the thing's massive head from his side. It hardly even reacted, instead deciding to chomp further into his flesh, releasing even more of the supposedly delicious liquid from his veins.

It was only when a chain whipped across the creature's back did it finally release its hold on him, more out of what seemed to be curiosity than pain. He couldn't tell what felt worse, those dagger teeth entering his side or exiting it, and another shriek of pain flew from his lips. Instinctively, his hands darted to the wound, though the mass of demon hair still effectively covered it. The chain once again whipped forward and grabbed hold of its head, this time pulling it fully off of him and allowing him to take an actual breath of air, the beast's weight off his chest. A lungful of oxygen seemed to be all he needed to regain his strength, and he quickly dug his elbows into the ground to drag himself backward in an attempt to get himself as far from his attacker as possible. He backed up into a tree, where he sat up and rolled up his shirt to examine the wound. He could clearly see the curved outline of the monster's teeth, though it was the ripped flesh, green and slimy leftover saliva, and gushing blood that were the primary culprits of the gruesomeness of the wound.

He averted his eyes, a queasy and cold feeling washing over him, and what should they land on but the scene of Severin battling his assailant, using the very same chain whip that had pulled it off Colin only moments before. "He... saved my life." was the only thought that overran that of pain. The man seemed to have been taking over Colin's job, fighting on against a monster that very well could kill him to protect Colin, while using powers beyond his understanding due to his Knight's stubborn refusal to explain anything. That'd been incredibly stupid and arrogant of Colin, and caused him to not only risk his own life, but Severin's as well. Where anger would have been, embarrassment took its place. How childish of him to allow such a stupid grudge to blind him of his duty.

Colin had already wiped his tears when he saw his Lord valiantly kill the beast that had suddenly turned its attention to him. He wasn't surprised by Severin's angry strides toward him, nor when he'd scooped up the collar of his bloodied shirt and slammed him against the back of the tree, sending pangs of pain throughout his body. Pride held in any screams, and instead Colin grunted and bit down firmly on his lip. He locked eyes with Severin, though his glance was submissive and apologetic, unlike it had been only moments before, when he'd pushed him into the bush near the university. "I'm s-sorry...", was all he could choke out, either shame or blood momentarily clogging his throat.

Severin released him, and Colin did his best to keep his balance, both pain and fatigue suddenly marring his capacity to do so. He could feel the blood running down his leg now, darkening his clothes and cooling his sweating skin. Gulping at the sight of Severin's blood oath, which he had astonishingly managed to manifest without counsel or training, Colin nodded. "You're right...", he started. Dignity was a barrier that he'd have to simply plough through. "You're right, my... my Lord. I'm sorry for all the trouble I've caused." Colin looked down and clenched his fists, almost wanting to scoop the word back into his mouth and erase it from ever having been said. Much too late, but regardless, for his stupidity his pride would suffer. But I won't make it very far like this. He pulled up his shirt to reveal his wound, the blood still gushing at a dangerous rate. "I've got a better idea.

Colin released his clenched fist and allowed his blade to manifest itself again in his palm, its usual light weight seeming much heavier given his current state. Keeping his shirt lifted, he placed the metal against his chest, pressing its side into his wound and wincing. Almost immediately, the blood flowing over top the shiny metal seemed to soak into it, almost as though it were sponging up the mess. Once again, Colin felt a surge of energy, though the burning at his side didn't really seem to care, and continued to give him agony. Doing his absolute best to ignore the torture that the injury forced on him for every movement of his body, he immediately set to running after one escaping creature, who was surprisingly slow to get itself out of the forest. Running in front of the hulking thing, Colin brought the handle of the blade to the creature's forehead, instantly sending it sprawling into a barrel roll down the hilly forest and into a small stream, completely unconscious from the sheer force of the blow to its head. Feeling both the effects of the blood payment and his capacity to bear the pain wear out, Colin too, tumbled down the hill and into the stream, next the hairy thing. Far enough away from Severin and out of his view, Colin allowed now a loud sob to escape his mouth, the throbbing from his side almost unbearable now.

"Over here!", he shouted to Severin, who had been no doubt in pursuit of the two of them. With a grunt, he turned himself over onto his uninjured side and faced the still breathing beast next to him and stretched out his palm. A red glow began to slowly appear around his hand, until it morphed into a bright red plasma and darted immediately for the still breathing chest of the monster lying next to him. The relief that swept over Colin was almost instant. He rolled up his shirt again, watching the holes in his chest start to very slowly close and the flow of blood out of his body come to a halt. While it still felt considerably sore, he certainly owed enough of a debt to his Lord that Severin deserved a certain amount of attention to his own injuries. Tossing his blade into the air to let it once again disintegrate, Colin stood up, now feeling much better given the seemingly limitless amount of energy he could tap from the unconscious bag of meat next to him. Such a good thing they weren't too knowledgeable on how to use such energy properly.

Using his free hand now, another strand of red plasma made its way to Severin's chest as he climbed down the hill. "Like I was saying...", Colin said, trying to manage something of a grin despite the incomplete job he'd done on his side injury and the awkward feeling in his stomach. "This is a bit of a hard one to explain..."

My, the professor certainly seemed a tad lively for a knocked out fella. Almost awkwardly, Elysia looked on as the male shifted in tiny movements--almost like a dog trapped deep in the confines of a good dream. A smile upturned the corners of her lips and her hand instantly went to pet Terry's head. Hesitation caught her movements, and her extended digits made a hasty retreat back to her side. 'Way to be a creep there, Elle. Way to creep.' she scolded, closing her eyes and tilting her head up to the cloud-whitened sky.

"... I could get fired if another teacher caught us."

"Huh?" Her skybound stare was dragged back to Earth to the freshly awakened professor. It wasn't exactly the first thing she's expected to hear, but it did prove to make her laugh at least a little bit. "Well, it's not like I could let you slam headfirst into the pavement. Last thing you needed was a concussion." she commented, blinking in confusion as a hasty retreat to the wall left her lap a little on the cold side. The woman tried her best to keep a level head in the entire situation; there was no real need to mentally scar the guy if she didn't have to. Still, the entrance of another individual didn't serve to help the situation. "Little Red" had finally stepped out from the shadows and spoke her piece. It was worthy of a skeptical glance that the woman, as far as Elle could assume, was out and about laying waste to the creatures that go bump in the night, buuuut it made explaining things a lot less obnoxious. Hell, the redhead even knew enough about the situation to call out her lord's name. "Well, I couldn't get you a teacher, but is a student alright?" came her teasing tone, eternally laced with laughter.

When the attention was suddenly thrown on her, the silver-haired lass simply shrugged. There was a searing pain racing up and down her spine and her head was a little worse for wear. Even now, waves of hurt came crashing over her brain, spiting her slightly reckless behavior. "Mm... I've been through worse. I'll live." she stated simply, cracking her back with a good stretch. It soothed her slightly. The decision to go to the coffee shop? Not so much. "Eh--" Cut off again. Little Red took the floor, basically coming out with what Elysia was aiming for: heading to a private location. "My place isn't too far. It's probably a block or so away from here." Thoughtfulness seized her expression. "If you wish, I could run out and grab a coffee or something for you while you relax...?" It wasn't necessarily a bad offer. A free coffee to go with the daily dose of insanity? Seemed legit. Elle was grateful the newest arrival was more-than-willing to start ripping up her clothes for a makeshift bandage that would hold until they could at least get home where the knight could work her magic. "Will you be alright to walk?" she asked, finding it harder and harder to avoid the word "Lord" in common conversation. Sure, monsters and junk were fine... but Knights and Lords were a totally different world.

Alita "Ai" Tresset

≫Snow on the Sun, Ice on the Moon≪

You're crying today, did something sad happen?
When you're crying, I am sad, too.
You're smiling today, I guess something good happened.
When you're smiling I am happy, as well.
I'm here next to you, don't hide your heart from me
Hope and light, I hope they'll be reached
It's shining on you so you won't be lost

Alita's eyes widened as she watched the hair lift the cup up and move it around, impressed. If it had been any other day, and the tension wasn't as thick as fog, she might of ran up there, and bothered the woman to know the secrets of that trick. There was also her short-tempered Knight to add in to those reasons, who she could tell was reaching the end of his patience rope once again. She lifted her own cup, finishing the drink, and placed her fork down on the platter. Done.

Things were starting to get a little too dicey here. She was still tired from the battle earlier, and could tell Damien wasn't much better off. If a fight happened, they had the numbers, but not really an advantage. A sleep-addled Stone pair and a Knight without his Lady...she didn't like those odds very much. Plus, innocent(?) bystanders. And she had a full stomach--no whirling around and spinning with that.

She looked at her Knight as he abruptly got up, half-alarmed that he was going to attack. Whew...he just wants to go. A cranky Damien was a hard one to predict, and if he attacked, the Luca would, and she'd end up having to fight on a full stomach, and then puke, most likely mid-way. She stood up, and took his hand--more out of prepping for a sneak attack--okay, that was a lie. She just liked to hold it. But that was part of the reason, so not a complete lie. "Nice to meet you." She said, trying to smooth over any possible hurt feelings {ones that could drag them into a fight}. She really didn't feel like puking up her lovely breakfast.

Fall asleep becoming transparent moonlight
And melt deep into dreams
I'll warp around any sadness as light
And change them into little stars
I'm here next to you; that's right, you are not alone
Today I'm very happy and I want to laugh
I want to deliver this happiness and smile to you

The girl was the only one that had an interesting reaction to Vida's little show, and that could be explained by her naivete. Vida tensed up when Damien got to his feet. She considered calling out to the crowd then and there, but decided that doing so would be less than productive, given the circumstances. "My, we seem to have misunderstood one another. I'm not here to hurt you, and I certainly hope the reverse is true. I may be a monster, but I'm not a bad person, necessarily. Vida winked mysteriously as she slowly enunciated that last word.

"All I want from you, gentlemen... and lady... are answers. I gather from your charming faces that perhaps now isn't the best time. If you're ever in the neighborhood, do stop by for some coffee on the house. Speaking of which, you paid Monica already, didn't you? Here, take it back. A gesture of magnanimity, yes?" Vida produced a small wallet from behind the sash on her dress and drew out the appropriate sum. "Well then, I shall retire for the time being. Good day to you. Oh, Four-Eyes? I've never worked the, ah, 'night shift'. Those 'fans'? They make such noise because I am beyond their reach. Don't be so hasty with your judgments." After making much ado about getting out of her chair, Vida flamboyantly strutted away to her personal lodging.

Vida immediately collapsed face-down upon the noticeably firmer and more modestly sized mattress in her own room. Between her earlier physical exertion and the facade she just upheld, the Lady of Pyrite was spent. She prepared to sleep just as she was, without removing any of her garments. Before the fingers of restful oblivion seized her mind completely, Vida began to reconsider, with all that had happened, who she was, what she was doing, and how contradictory some of her words and actions were.

Am I a monster or am I a person? Could I be proud of either? Should I be?

These questions and more circled Vida's fading consciousness, each as unanswerable as the last. They were as insatiable vultures preying upon her self-identity. Continuously worked upon beneath a cloak of dreams, Vida would wake up a very different person.

                                                                  . . . am I beautiful?

thinking: STILL CONFUSED

indentLocke just stared at the girl as she spoke. He hoped that her round-about-answers weren't common, or else talking to her would get super annoying. He guessed that she was a nice girl, especially after she just saved his life like she just said, but he needed to know what was going on or else he'll go crazy. He might go crazy anyway. Who can say. Anyway, he was still really confused. He heard her mumble something he didn't catch and he followed her eyes down to his ring. It was still all bloody and gross. Oh, s**t -- so was his head. How was he going to explain that to his dad? He could say he wasn't paying attention and ran into a wall? He would think about it, but he had a feeling that he wasn't going to get a good excuse in line. The young man heard Seren say that this would probably happen again. Fan ******** tastic, he thought, resisting the urge not to roll his eyes. He didn't not like her -- just her current attitude. Did she not like him? Whatever.

indentThe shrieks from father in the forest got his attention. He turned his head to the noises, feeling himself pale. He did not want to meet another monster so soon after the bear-thing. The male swallowed hard and turned back to face Seren. He nodded at her suggestion, and followed her out of the forest. Sarcastically, he patted himself down, trying to find the list and items his father had sent him out for. He couldn't find them. Well, s**t. Today was going super well. Sarcasm intended.

indentLocke zone out while walking behind Seren. He just looked at the back of her head and followed it wherever it went. His mind needed to shut down for a bit after that little near-death adventure. When she paused, he almost ran into her, but trailed her soundlessly into the library. He hadn't even noticed that she had taken hold of his arm until she let go. The highschooler sat down in his respective chair across from the girl and fixed his golden eyes on her - attentive and suddenly very interested. His brain had been going over what happened in the forest and he wanted an explanation. A decent one. The words that came out of her mouth, however, seemed to be filled with fiction. He listened to her story and rested his head on his hand, yellow gaze never flinching.
indent"So you're telling me," he started, hitting the table with his opposite index finger "that you're my Knight and that you just show up whenever I'm in danger and fight whatever has put me in said danger." It wasn't a question. He rubbed his eyes, scowling. This was going to be a long day. He wanted to believe her; he really, really did. But weren't knights in the olden days with super heavy armour and rode horses around everywhere? There weren't still knights in this day and age, right? And if he was a Lord, did that mean he had surfs? A smile cracked across his face at his own dumb joke.

indent"Oh, man! Look who it is!" The smile disappeared instantly and he slammed his already injured head into the wooden library table, then turned to greet the owner of the voice.
indent"Hello, Gavin," he said bitterly, forcing a smile.
indent"Hey, dude, you haven't been answering your phone did you leave it at ho--" The male had made his way over to Locke and was leaning on his shoulder when he spotted Seren. He just looked at her dumbfounded, and then turned to the man he was leaning on and gave him a "oh so this is what you were doing" look. It made Locke want to punch him in the throat. A girl behind Gavin -- another "friend" of Locke's -- started laughing and came to look at Seren herself.
indent"Oh, my~ Have you found the key to Locke's cold heart?" she said, drawing out her words in an annoying way. Locke's face was very noticeably not happy with anything the pair was doing. He just looked at Seren and begged her silently to just bear it until they went away.
indent"Wow, Angella, you're so punny. Leave." he said, basically growling. She shot him a look, then kept pestering poor Seren.

indentSuddenly, he got out of his seat and picked Angella up by her waist. Lucky for him, she was too shocked to do anything. He set her down at the end of a bookshelf and pushed Gavin over to her. Then, Locke made his way to the other end of the bookshelf and shouted, "Gavin, wait! What are you doing?!" Then, as quickly as he could, Locke pushed all the books on the row off of the shelving and onto the floor. The pair stared at the pile of books stupidly as Locke ran back to his seat, where he stood with his hands in his hair, looking shocked. A librarian ran over and gasped, clutching her chest. She glared at the two teens and ushered them out, all the while Locke apologized to her. Before she came back, he picked up all the books and put them back in their respective places. The librarian smiled at him and went back to her desk.

indentLocke made his way back to his seat, sat down, and looked at Seren with an apologetic smile. "Sorry about my 'friends.' They can get...Well, you saw for yourself. Anyway, what were you saying? Oh, right, knight and stuff." He leaned back and looked at the ceiling. "Can you explain to me how you know when I'm in trouble? Cause it would cause problems if you started stalking me."

                                                  #966940
Leo’s fingers continued to tap on the table, growing faster and faster in speed. Soon, it sounded like small drumming. He could feel his patience wearing quickly. Just being in the area, he could feel the extreme tension. He didn’t even know what the woman was, but he knew he didn’t want anything to do with her. When Alita finished off her meal, he looked over to her. She was also very nervous. But who wouldn’t be? Leo had told her and Damien that he had been attacked by the woman. And not only that, apparently everyone loved her here. There could have been a chance that there was a trap, an ambush. Who knew how many people were on her side here. How many were one of her…

Leo turned his eyes to Vida as she spoke. She wasn’t there to hurt them? Not a bad person? Well, usually good people didn’t attack other people. Maybe she was just out of her mind. Yeeeeah, he didn’t want to deal with a psycho witch.

As Damien spoke up, Leo raised his hands and shrugged. “Well, you heard the man. Chat’s over.” As the two stood, Leo slowly stood after them. “Chao.” He told Vida, not giving her another glance. He looked down at his coffee before he picked it up and downed the rest of it. “Nice stuff, by the way. Give my thanks to the brewer.” Before the three of them could leave though, Vida spoke up again. She wanted answers, huh? So did Leo. But talking not too long after being attacked didn’t seem like the best time. He didn’t bother to look at her or the sum of money she placed on the table.

As she made her comment about ‘four eyes’ Damien, Leo couldn’t help but let out a scoff. She wasn’t that kind of girl, huh? Well she seemed to be working in the wrong place for her to seem as pure as she believed she was. People judge. Was there anything truly wrong with human nature? Leo only looked at Vida as he saw her back walking away with a little pip in her step. She must have been hurting or something. Leo knew that she had to have been putting on a show, especially if just a moment ago she was struggling to even sit up. Once she was out of the scene, Leo looked to Damien and Alita. “Well. I need a drink. Anyone care to join me?” He let out a sigh and ran his fingers through his hair. He wondered where Fran was right about now. She was supposed to be at work, and he sure hoped that’s where she was. He hadn’t been called to her aid, so she wasn’t in trouble…for once.

…My Lord? He repeated in his head, brows furrowing together. Severin heard of admitting defeat, but that was taking it a little too far. His eyes traveled to the blood that was spilling out of Colin’s exposed wound. That explains that, Colin’s losing too much blood that there isn’t enough for his brain.’ But instead finding any amusement in that thought, it left a bad taste in his mouth. He knew there had been blood, but not this much. It was gushing out at a startling rate, and the longer he watched the more he could feel his anger retreat, leaving the cold sensation of panic tingling on the back of his neck. He could feel his stomach knotting with guilt at the realization that slamming Colin into the tree while being blinded by his rage was probably the not the best route he could have taken. However, he was too stubborn to apologize and too proud to look sorry. His expression remained as fierce as it had been and the weapon in his hand didn’t disappear. But seeing Colin’s defiance crumble so easy made it harder to remain stubborn. Not to mention that at the rate Colin was bleeding, they needed a hospital and fast.

“I’ve got a better idea.” Colin said, summoning the katana Severin recognized seeing earlier when he used it to lop off a demon’s head at the campus. He soaked the sword in his blood, and instead of gliding over the metal’s slick surface, the blood was absorbed into the blade. In the meanwhile, Colin’s face was twisting in agony. But before Severin could comment, Colin had dashed toward a stray creature with surprising speed. It seemed slower than the previous members of its pack and was desperate to escape. Even so, it wasn’t fast enough to prevent Colin from running in front of it. He hit it hard on the forhead, sending it rolling down the hill. However, it looked like Colin was losing himself as was about to tumble after it. Severin jumped to catch him, but before he knew it, Colin fell.

What made this idea better again? Clearly, Severin missed that part. Hoping the stupid chump hadn’t gotten himself killed, he chased after him.

                                      “Colin!” He shouted.

“Over here!” Colin called, miraculously still alive. At this response, Severin felt himself sigh with some relief. Still, he hastily set after him, wondering how much injury the man could take. Something red and glowing shot toward him, and he almost lost his footing. He growled in irritation, expecting that Colin was pulling another fast one on him. Except when it made contact with his chest, it didn’t hurt. Severin looked up and saw that Colin had a red glowy thing attached to him as well. He wasn’t too sure what it was, but it didn’t seem threatening, so he’d let it slide for now. Somewhere down the way, the chain-whip disappeared, and the rest of the climb down became remarkably easier.

Colin began to talk when Severin walked close enough; seeming to pick up at the spot he left off before shoving him into the bushes at campus. He was drenched in water and blood, but seemed livelier now than before he stumbled down the hill. What a strange guy.

“Yeah, I got that much out of your babble earlier, no need to repeat it.” Severin replied. If he was no longer dying, then there wasn’t much of a reason for Severin to go soft on him. But still, he wasn’t convinced just yet. Tentatively, he asked, “…But, you’re okay, right? You don’t need me to take you to a hospital do you?”

Speaking of, he remembered the monster that nicked his shoulder, and he imagined he would probably need some stitches himself. He sent his hand to carefully assess the damage.

“’The hell?” He said, both amazed and extremely confused. Touching it hardly hurt; the wound was already starting to heal. He was tempted to inspect it more closely here, but it was best to get a move on soon. “Okay, before you go off explaining, I think it’s best if we didn’t stick around here, ‘cause frankly I don’t want to know if those things are coming back with friends. We should head back to campus and clean up. Maybe if we’re fast, no one will notice.”

The university gym had been the closest place with the shower. Sneaking there had been easier than he expected, probably because they used backdoor methods no one really took, and the people who were around were far enough to know they were there without really seeing them. He was sure to be extra-careful though. If someone saw him standing next to a bloody Colin, there was no doubt that someone would have made an assumption and try to get Severin arrested. Frankly, there was only so much heartbreak his old lady could take.

Feeling the warm water wash away the dried blood had felt good, but it was even better when he got rid of that vile stench that came from tussling with those nasty creatures. When he finished showering, he observed himself in the mirror. The gash on his face was gone, thank god, and the wound on his shoulder had almost completely healed. He dressed quickly, but had to steal someone’s jacket from one of the lockers to hide the torn part of his shirt and the bloody stains that he couldn’t quite scrub off.

When everything was finished and they were ready to leave, Severin realized how hungry he was. He remembered skipping out on breakfast and was pretty sure that whatever he ate last night was gone with his liquor. Using whatever energy he had to chase after Colin and get caught up in a fight didn’t help either. “Now that we look decent, know any places to eat near campus? I’m starving, so we can talk there.”

Nervous tic. Irritated, Damien readjusted his glass frames again.

Studies said men often lose focus when listening to a high pitched voice. Damien was quick to tune out when he announced decisively that they were leaving. Stubborn as ever, the walking monstrosity clung to the need of having the last word of their pointless conversation. It must be nice to live in her shoe—trying show herself as a strong person when she could barely stand on her two feet or play with her hair with that much class a porn star would have. Whatever the auditory selective dentist managed to retain from Vida was a load of bullshit—enough of bull to keep him seated in his bathroom for the remainder of the day. Sure, no one was out to harm one another, oh no; they were just chilling out and calling out first grader insults. That’s how chummy they were all of the sudden. Vida was giving slang- BFF a whole new definition. Indeed, the tanned four-eyes was quick to judge but if he was going to find himself in a situation where he had to speak with Vida again, his dislike of her will only grow. His first impressions of her gave her free golden ticket to his permanent blacklist regardless of what she said and did. Her profession was an irrelevant factor. No ******** were given and therefore, Damien made not mental corrections of whatever he thought of her. He was kind enough to let her have the last words. Her money was hers to keep; who knows, maybe she could buy some social skills or likability points with it.

Right on cue—like divine intervention, his protégé reached out for his hand as Vida brushed by. Normally the man would have pulled away; instead, Damien’s readjusted his grip on Alita’s warm hand. With a light pull, and while still holding her delicate and porcelain hand, the knight of diamond ushered his lady to the door and gestured her to walk in front of him.

Damien exited the restaurant with tight jaws. He fought against the urge to lash out. Stubborn in his own way, he wanted to prove the diVa he possessed more class and self-control more than she could ever have. It did not mean he was making a fool out of himself by looking like an angrily constipated individual. “Now that we’re best forced friends and all, why didn’t you tell her how to ask questions properly?” How could she expect answers if asking question the wrong way. If the monster was going to pose as human, she’s going to put more effort in her acting skills. Urgh. Women were just easier on the eyes and ears whenever their lips were sealed. Why was he wasting so much time in mentally bashing her? Did he not tell himself that she was no longer worthy of his time earlier? What a complete ******** that Vida is. “Seeing as she’s so bloody attracted to you, she might have taken your advice.”

Even if Damien would purposely tried to avoid Vida and if she’s what Leo claimed her to be, they will surely meet again. At this point, Vida may grow to love Leo. Love him enough to kill him. “I honestly hope you do not plan on seeing her again.” Not that Damien doubted Leo’s fighting capabilities. It was simply out of concern. “ Whichever the case, I object to any forced double-dates. I prefer the third-wheel game.” Third wheel ensured a left out individual. Considering how well Alita and Leo got along, Damien was fine with playing the role of the third wheel. “Oh… whatever. It doesn't matter anymore.” He moved his free hand behind his glasses and rubbed his eyes. The action provided no relief to his eye-twitch. A long tired sigh escaped from his lips. His tensed shoulders sank. “I’ll take your offer,” the man finally grumbled.

Wait a second. He was not thinking straight. Did Leo just offer Alita a drink? What the hell was Leo thinking?! What if people caught them taking a teenage girl to the bar? Did he not think of the consequences such inappropriate actions?! He would take no part in the ***** games. The again, Damien was still holding his protégé's petite hand. Nothing quite like digging oneself a grave. 'If they ask, she's my niece," the grouch reminded himself. Glaring at Leo, the man continued, “Anyone as in me. I can’t believe you’re about to offer her alcohol!”

He looked down at Alita. They should take her to school. It was wrong to encourage her skipping classes. If the school staff or her parents knew the person responsible for her misconduct, Damien would get into so much trouble. “Alita, you have been up all night. We should bring you back home. If you’re not able to stay focus in class, you should be in bed catching some rest.” It was a long night for her after all. Although tired as well, it was a routine that Damien was accustomed to.

Then he thought about their brief encounter with Vida. Shortly after attacking the knight of Emerald and his Lady, the woman was out walking public as if nothing happened. His mind was not at peace at the thought of sending Alita away just yet. “Never mind,” the man groaned in defeat. . He would deal with her antics and the tag-teaming teasing if it was to keep her arms away from harm—even if Vida did not know if their identities as the Knight and Lady of Diamond. Eyes on his Lady of Diamond, the grouch added, “Just tell us when you’re tired so we can bring you back home.”

Between two short-tempered men and an apparently very dangerous woman, Alita probably should have been more worried about the chance that a fight would break out, and the whole building would become one big ruckus with tons of not-so-innocent bystanders caught up in the mix. And she was. Even as they were leaving, she worried about her Knight's tolerance to the woman's parting words. Even if it wasn't like him to lash out physically, without orders, anything from a push to a wrongly placed word could have started something bad.

And she was worried. Until something rather tiny caught her attention, and then it was all she could think about, up until they were safely outside. Damien didn't let go. It was a little silly to think about, but to Alita, this was a very big thing, and something worth spacing out for. She had taken his hand for a few mixed reasons, and it hadn't been the first time she'd tried to hand his hand. But she hadn't been expecting him to keep holding on. He always shook her off--in a cute, grumpy, almost tsundere way. Never coldly--that was something she liked about him. But she couldn't quite recall any time that he didn't let go, that wasn't mixed in with something dangerous, or that didn't require it. Like her hanging off a building.

It was downright unusual. And it was enough to temporarily jar Alita's thinking. While Damien grumbled to Leo about Vida and her manners, Alita was making sure to keep a blank face, and not turn into a tomato. Because if he noticed her reaction, he'd surely let go. And even if it was weird, and probably just a reflex, or something to make sure she was safely away from Vida...Alita was finding it very difficult to smother down. Calm. I can be calm.

Luckily, by the time the conversation turned to her, she had successfully pressed it down enough not to be noticed. Just a light, rosy color and a smile. "It's not like I haven't had alcohol before, Mr. Overprotective." She teased. She doubted a few sips of wine or champagne counted, but it would be enough to make her Knight splutter, she was sure.

The idea of going home was a dreadful dull one. Not only was she supposed to be in school, and therefore in trouble, but after fighting things out of storybooks and nightmares that threatened people's lives, the idea of playing hooky to sleep sounded rather irresponsible. If I go there, I'll probably just fall asleep. Nothing much to do, except train. And so, she was glad that he changed his mind. "Can do." She chuckled. "And I promise not to drink anything suspicious-looking. You can hand me everything that's safe, and not worry about anything bad happening." She idly wondered how long she could keep holding his hand before he let go.

Fall asleep becoming transparent moonlight
And melt deep into dreams
I'll warp around any sadness as light
And change them into little stars
I'm here next to you; that's right, you are not alone
Today I'm very happy and I want to laugh
I want to deliver this happiness and smile to you
