Welcome all to the Every Witch Way Tavern, an Urban Fantasy RP forum. A place for the die hard fans of modern fantasy like Jim Butcher, Kim Harrison, Patricia Briggs, and Yasmin Galenorn. Though here we accept all types of Fantasy based RP. For example those of you that pull your inspiration from other great authors like J.R.R Tolkien, C.S Lewis, Anne Bishop, Orson Scott, and David Eddings are always welcome.
There have always been whispers and echoes in the darker recesses of human imagination about creatures and culture’s beyond our own. In these constructs of myth and fantasy one who seeks can always find hints of truth, a glimpse through the “looking glass” if you would.
Among these myths and imagined fantasies you find stories of Immortals, Werewolves, Vampires, Witches, Wizards, and Shape shifters; the list goes on and on, however to sit here and spell them all out would simply bore you. Something we pray that will never come to pass. In every story though you have your great hero’s, bumbling fools, and maniacal villains. For no world real or make believe is truly perfect. And who’s to say that these tales of “make believe” actually never happened. Though perhaps originally from the world of humans these creatures that sparked the imaginations of many have finally pierced through the veil’s that shroud the realms of true reality coming to exist among us all.
Now that we have given you food for thought, we would like to invite you through our “looking glass” and into a world where all things aren’t always what they appear. Our tale takes place on the outskirts of a large city in the Pacific Northwest. Portland, to be exact, a focal point for the mixing of cultures is the perfect place to hide a few things out of the ordinary. With a moto like “Keep Portland Weird” you’ll find the usual strange aspects of humanity, blending among those you will find, if by seeking or stumbling, the others who call themselves Outworlder’s, people and creatures that are both of the dark and the light, though sometimes neither.
Nestled in the upper hills of Portland you will find a sign posted at the end of a gravel drive that reads “Every Witch Way Tavern and Inn, Vacancies Available”. As patrons make their way up the winding gravel driveway the trees give way to glimpses of a large Victorian Manor peacefully sitting atop a small rise of land with a vast manicured lawn and rose gardens. To the left hand side of the drive is an area to park your vehicle of choice, a large old carriage house and garden gates. Upon the front of the villa, a wrap around two story porch holds many wrot iron chairs and tables, while a cozy swing for two hangs from each end of the main porch. Antique oak double doors with stained glass depictions of wild lilies and roses lead into a large foyer. To the left is an oak desk cozied near the wall, a large leather bound guest check in and feather quill open on the surface with a few names written upon the pages. Next to the guest book is a small sign “Please sign in. Someone will be with your shortly.” Light music can be heard filtering through the period furnished house. Pictures line the walls, some in black and white depicting the land before the house was build and the progress of construction. Though as one takes journey through time, they might notice there is one thing always the same. A woman tall and slender with slightly angular features posing before the house or standing in the gardens. Her features are the same throughout the photographs, her clothing changing with each one, matching the era written upon the plaque below each. As you move from black and white to color, the woman’s hair is a deep red, her eyes a pale green. Behind you an open doorway lets in more than the music, voices can be heard; laughing, talking. A sign next to the doorway reads “Tavern”.
