Maya Norley

Maya breathed a sigh of relief when Hank, Dallas and the girl stumbled in, though she was briefly distracted when there was noise from someone yelling and from the sound of it, drawing walkers away. She hoped whoever it was had a better plan for getting away from a horde. Maya glanced over at Paulo and Dallas briefly. Their affections towards each other didn't bother Maya in the least, though she knew Hank would probably be a little uncomfortable about it, even if he had nothing against that sort of thing. Catching her brother's raised eyebrow she twitched a smile. Nothin' wrong with a little love, bro. 'Least there's a few people with some happiness. She waved to the woman who had slid down against the wall, joining her brother at his side. "Nice to meet you." To Hank she said, "I found some clothes in the other houses, there should be enough for everybody. They're in one of the backpacks. I'm gonna go see if Zeke needs any help, he's up on the roof." She wrinkled her nose at all the gore covering her brother. She wanted to hug him, but that nasty crap on him wasn't coming near Maya. She patted his shoulder lightly where there was a less gory spot, gave another wave to the new girl, and headed up to the roof. She made her way over to Zeke, moving silently. She joined him, voice quiet. "Hey, you need any help? Hank, Dallas and the new girl got back, in case you didn't see." She checked her pockets briefly, finding the reassuring shape of the gun and her remaining ammo in the pockets.

Jenna watched from the window still, trying to make sure nothing else went wrong as they got towards the back of the house. To tell the truth, she was worried about all three of them, even though she didn't really know Dallas or the girl. She just didn't want anyone else to die. It was a thing to think, with the world the way it was now, but she still wanted to feel humane in some sense. The redhead finally tore herself away from the window, heading towards the back door. She saw Maya leaving as she arrived, Hank still there with the new girl. Paulo and Dallas seemed to have disappeared by now to another part of the house. "You guys need any help?" she asked, looking at them, seeing that they were both still covered in zombie guts.

Zeke sighed a** he sat on the roof, bow sitting beside him on the roof ready to grab, quiver on his back. He had been useless as far as getting the group safe when back in behind the house. A bow may seem perfect, but it had enough force to penetrate flesh, muscle and possibly bone if there was enough draw force. His aim wasn't the best so he couldn't risk hitting the others. He could only watch as his allies fought with the zombies. but he kept more of them in sights that might approach.

Once the others were inside, he settled on the roof and that was where he stayed until now. He sat there thinking, before looking to his left arm. Pulling the shirt off of his arm, he cringed at the sensation. He had forgotten how badly a draw string burn hurt. Looking to the reddened flesh, he sighed as he touched it a few times, the skin was still tender. But soon he heard Maya as she joined him on the roof. Looking to her, he offered her a small smile and a nod as she sat. "I'm alright, you know, the usual." He stated, their usual being hunger and other such things. "Grazed my arm with the draw string, it makes on hell of a rub burn, sometimes even cuts ya." He told her. Looking down to his stomach as it growled lowdly, he gave it a tap to make it quiet. His skin was very tight over his lean frame of refined muscles, a nice sight he imagined, but very bad sight in his mind, it meant he was malnourished with no extra body fat to use. He knew a good bit about nourishment, a lot of things, paying attention in school and asking questions helped.

"How you holding up?"

Shannon sat stunned while her rescuers took care of the few zombies that followed them. Soon they were rushing through the door to safety. She looked at the state of her clothing, she was covered in the goop that was thrown on her, she wrinkled her nose against the smell. The older of the men offered his hand and an introduction, she took it and got to her feet. She looked to each person as their name was spoken. "I'm Shannon, I can't even begin to thank you for what you did." She wasn't able to thank the other as he left the room in a real hurry. Pulling the fabric of her shirt away from her skin, she nodded at Hanks suggestion of getting cleaned up. The girl named Maya mentioned a back pack with clothing, it was the one bit of happy news she had heard in a while. "I don't really have anything to contribute, but if there is anything I can help with. I know some basic first aid, and I'm normally a good scout." Rolling her eyes to herself as she followed Hank, "though that last stunt doesn't really prove how smart I am I guess."

L O C A T I O N: Sugar Mountain
M O O D: Alerted
W E A P O N S : A Hand Gun

Valentina could hardly see in the dark and the smell of rotten bodies mixing with the sound of groans just made her even more desperate than she expected. She was trapped on the ceiling of what she guessed was a house, but the night was too dim and nocturne for her to even wonder that well. Somehow she didn't even conclude at first how she was going to end if she climbed onto a roof surrounded by walkers, and it was pretty obvious the idea was now forever stupid. Valentina whispers a few curses before she loads her handgun, sadly and stupidly the only weapon she found in her way there, and takes a deep breath before looking down from the roof. The walkers groan loudly this time at the sight of her, they stretch their arms up to reach but obviously nothing happens, they just beg for her to jump down and maybe she was going to concede that to them later if she decided well between life or death. Valentina wonders how they haven't thought the idea of climbing to get to where she was, but the walkers where more stupid than she thought and thankfully they still weren't that reasonable. But she sees how this female walker manages to somehow find a way to climb up, taking with her the other walkers that had seemed to analyze what she was doing and decided to perform the same action.

Her breathing agitates as her chest becomes tight, she is about to shoot them but then thinks, "I can't do that. That's stupid, I'll only attract more of them.." And holds the desire to shoot because she at least has to try to make an effort to live, to survive and be strong enough. Valentina looks around with searching eyes, trying to figure out a possible way to get out of there and make it out like a normal human being and not a walker, but all she sees is the other roof that seems too far away for her to jump, and the tight hold she keeps at her gun is not helping at all. Her fist becomes pale and all the blood of her face drains away to her cold feet. The female walker makes it to the roof, fast enough to crawl over at Valentina and reach out hungrily for her leg, but Valentina hits her strongly on the face with the butt of her gun and pushes her off the roof, now just wondering how she was going to survive the next one.

It took her only a few minutes to think to remember she had a flicker in her pocket, and she quickly reachs out for it, trying unsucessfully to flick it with her shaky hands. But it falls to the floor and she panics even more, she can't see where it is because the night is too dark for her to take notice, and she kneels to touch the ground with her wounded hands to see if she finds it but feels nothig under the touch of her palms. Valentina finally finds the flicker and commences to flick it again, this time being able to produce a tiny flame from it, making her chuckle inanely. But suddenly a hand grips her shoulder and the flick falls down to the dirty clothes of a walker standing down groaning and his clothes turn on fire. "s**t.." she swears and turns around to see that three walkers had made it to the roof now, and one of them was practically drooling at her face about to eat her arm, and she lets out a high pitched scream that echoes across the town and she hits him hard on the head with her gun and turning around to stare at the other roof, wondering if somehow she would jump to the other side. It was only then when Valentine notices the fire had grown bigger and other walkers where on fire too bawling out in pain, but it seemed that the light was only attracting more walkers towards that location, and she hoped she could run somewhere else and maintain the fire there to distract them.

Valentina manages to pass by the two remaining walkers that stretched their arms to grab hold of her, she jumps to the back of the house where only two walkers where vacantly walking around, and scoots between the houses until she mades it to the street and runs, looking behind to notice the walkers were still stupidly distracted by the fire. She stares across the street wondering to herself where she could hide for the rest of the night, even thought it wasn't even going to be easy to sleep without having nightmares and every house probably smelled like rot corpses. She frowns when the walkers seemed to at least notice she was running across the street and started to follow her incredibly fast at that moment, making her run even faster and run to the first house she found and kick at the door, discovering it wouldn't open and looks behind her back in panic, hoping the walkers wouldn't reach her in time.

She just thinks her instincts and escape strategies are horribly awful, all she was doing was making things worse than they already were, the fire was worse than a gunshot. Maybe she was going to die that same exact day for all she knew, she did horrible escaping, there where walkers following her and the possibilities of surviving where just being dragged across the ground. Valentina holds her breath and stares at the hungry monsters leap down to her, groaning in the process how desperate they were to eat her brains out, and she thinking, "Hell no.. not now." and proceeds to run forward someone else, but sees nowhere else to be.

James had been in the bathroom, getting changed and having a shave when he heard the gunshots and commotion from out side the window, he quickly finished shaving in the sink and grabbed his pistol off a cabinet that held toiletries and ran to the door opening it before diving across the landing into the childs bedroom, he knelt down on the soft carpet and slid the window open he used the ledge as a support for his pistol, he armed the weapon and made ready to assist the group, before someone else did and the group got in safely. He continued to watch for a few minutes as the heroic fool ran off hoping to see the man come back. The Majors guard had went down he heard two sets of footsteps climb the stairs and he closed the window he walked back out into the hall in just enough time to see the bathroom door close with a loud click as the lock engaged.

The major slammed his palm against the door before turning to look down the stairs at the group in the hall, he felt quite exposed, he was standing only wearing ABU trousers with nothing on his feet or covering his chest, The major was quite a well built man, his abdomen was quite defined, more than normal as all his muscles were swollen as they were slowly deteriorating. On his right breast right down to the bottom of his ribcage was a collection of scars from where he had taken shrapnel injuries in 'Stan. He walked down the stairs sitting on the bottom few steps again his arms across his bare chest looking like a child who had been sent to the naughty step. How had those two not noticed the Majors Uniform folded neatly on the toilet seat, if they touched any of his things he'd have to break fingers.

James looked to hank, both men had been shooting each other the most rotten of looks for the last day and James added to it by throwing Hank yet another one "Everything go according to plan!?" he asked sarcastically he knew the answer was no and now they were surrounded. Brilliant. After a short period of time sitting on the stairs like a spoilt child he heard the bathroom door open and shot Paulo quite an evil and angry glare.

Maya Norley

Maya glanced over at Zeke when he spoke, returning his small smile. Her eyes strayed to his injured arm when he mentioned it. Maya took his arm in her hands, examining the burn. "When we get back inside you need to get that wrapped up." She couldn't help but notice how muscular Zeke had gotten. In fact, everyone in the group had lost most of their remaining body fat and become far more lean and muscular than they had been to start with. She dug through her pockets, remembering a spare tube of burn ointment, smiling faintly when Zeke's stomach growled. "According to Hank we should all be able to eat a little more tonight. Here, this should help the pain at least." She thought back on all the courses she'd taken in college, slightly amused. They weren't of much use now, but at least she was smart and a very quick learner.

When Zeke asked her how she was, she shrugged, opening the tube. She took his arm again and carefully dabbed the stuff over his injury before closing up the tube and giving it to him. "Same as you friend. I'm just glad they got back safe." They meaning her brother, Dallas and the new girl. Maya jumped slightly as a high-pitched scream suddenly echoed around the town. She scowled, looking over at Zeke. What bloody idiot screams like that?! She was about to say something when she noticed a faint flicker near where the scream had seemed to come from, though it was hard to tell with all the echoes. It got bigger, and it looked..."Is that a ******** fire?" Maya growled. "That's gotta be another survivor, but no way whoever it is will survive long after screaming like that and then starting a fire." She moved across the roof, closer to where the light was coming from. Maya cursed softly. It would be a really bad idea if that fire spread. She could easily get across town using the roofs and the trees, being at the very least a superb climber, but what would they use to put out the fire? Especially since it would probably get bigger in the time it would take anyone to get over there. Water was too precious to waste, and she had yet to see any fire extinguishers. She looked over at Zeke. "I don't suppose you have any ideas? We could get over there easy enough, but its putting out that fire that poses a problem." Ooooh, her brother wasn't gonna pleased about this. Unless she and Zeke could take care of it. Then there would be no cause for alarm. But Maya wasn't entirely sure. Hordes of walkers and a freaking fire.

Hank nodded at Shannon again. "No sweat. We're all about unreasonably dangerous risk taking around here." He said in a not at all excited voice. Throwing his shirt and pants in the kitchen garbage he tied the bag to keep the smell in and walked across the house in his boxers, pausing, only to smile at the Major. "Swimmingly. I made it all the way down the street and then back up that same street without anyone having to carry me." He concluded with a wink, obviously referring to the fact that Zeke had to help the Major get inside in the first place. Going upstairs he went into the bathroom that Paulo and Dallas had just exited. Standing there he stared at the shower for a minute before locking the door and washing up in the sink. When he was finished he went into the bedroom where they'd dismembered the walkers they'd ended up wearing. The master bedroom was probably nice at some point, the view of the town was no doubt something the family was proud of. Now it smelled horrendous. He pulled on a pair of the man's jeans, they were a little big but he pulled the waist tight with one of his belts and threw on an orange polo from his closet this one was a bit tight. This guy must have been weird shaped. But now clean and smelling nice for the first time in days he walked back downstairs feeling his beard with his hand as he went.

Entering the living room once again he scooped up all the food and took it to the kitchen. Sparking up the stove he began to cut cans open with his combat knife and dumping the contents into a big pot. Different kinds of beans, corn, carrots, diced tomatoes, ground beef, onions, and cheese would make a delicious chili. He sprinkled some chili powder, basil, and rosemary onto the concoction his spirits picked up, He was clean, food was almost ready, and it felt nice. As it reduced he stirred it slowly. He wished he could see outside, but it was all for the best, no doubt the view would only spoil his good mood. The good thing about chili was, if you were hungry, you didn't have to wait for it to simmer too long. In only a few minutes he pulled the pot off of the stove. Grabbing bowls from the cupboard he tossed them down on the counter top, naming people off as he went. "Shannon, Miles, Cathrine, James, Jack, little girl, Zeke, Dallas, Paulo, Jenna, Maya, me...aaaaaaand Scotch." He said, filling the bowls and putting his hands on his hips, proud of his work. Tossing a spoon in each bowl. He wanted to shout something like, order up, or come n' get it, but yelling would probably be a bad idea. He carried his bowl and one extra into the living room. He placed the one bowl squarely in the Major's hands before plopping down on the couch and putting his bare feet up on the table. "Food's ready everyone, and it's pretty good if I do say so myself." He wished he could run the TV but that would require electricity. But whatever, he was content for the time being.

Catherine listened to the Major before watching him get up and go up the stairs. A small frown crossed her face, Catherine then watched as Hank and Dallas and them planned their rescue mission Catherine was glad when the new guy spoke up and was relieved when he said that he was a doctor, that was exactly what made her feel better about the whole situation. Though part of Catherine was wearing down more and more. All she wanted to do was help some way but she didn't know how to, she was no one special. As she was thinking she smiled a little before getting up to go to the down stairs bathroom. Quickly she splashed a small hand full of cool water on her face to help keep her awake before walking back out.

By that time Hank and them were all back and the smell lingered as they all walked through the house though she wasn't going to complain. Catherine went and sat in a chair quietly resting her head back against the cushion and she sighed. Hank was in his boxers and him and the Major was going at it again. Once Hank left and went up stairs to clean up she lifted her head looking around the room looking at the other new girl. Catherine reached and grabbed her pocket book that was next to her and pulled out a pair of grey sweat pants and a black t-shirt out. The girl seemed to be about the same size as her so she figured since the clothes she had right then were covered in gook the girl would be relieved for fresh smelling clothes. Catherine got up and walked to the girl "Here, you can change into these and I have some soaps and shampoo in my bag if you wanna go shower." she said then watched as Hank took food and disappeared into the kitchen.

It wasn't long until Hank came back with two bowls handing one to the Major and one for him self. Catherine walked into the kitchen the smell making her stomach growl she grabbed a bowl and a spoon before heading back into the living room and sitting back down and began to eat slowly so that she could savor the taste. "Hank, tomorrow if it seems clear me and someone else can get the food I have in the back of my car and I can also drive into town and see if I can get some more food from an abandoned grocery store." she offered "My car has a big trunk and with another seat of hands they could get another carriage full like I did not to long before I got here." she said before taking another bite, she could at least get them some more food. "Maybe the Major could help me." she said with a small smile hoping the Major didn't mind her bringing him into her idea, she figured he'd offer her good protection if need be and it would be something easier for him to handle and get him and Hank away from each other for a little while so things could hopefully calm down between them.

They told us not to fight, but well fight until we die because we are not frightened anymore, we stood up.
So they sunk, every ship we sailed and they fought hard, but somewhere fighting failed they're all shook up.
When steel and concrete break beneath the steadly waves of fearless, hope and grace in kindness, there is strength.
And there are two of us there will be many more, they'll show up, yeah they'll show up. We are not frightened anymore.

Dallas Lee Tucker

"Y'know...I'm not gonna throw my chips in with them, Paul-o. My only focus is you'n me." And that was that. If their survival hinged on these others, then so be it. But he wasn't going to take their s**t, their orders, nothing. Back there, rescuing that girl, its what he should have done for his brother. He wasn't as heartless as to do it again, knowing he'd only regret it.

Once their shower was done he was a lot happier. Clean clothes and the gore was gone. That was all that mattered. Combing fingers through his hair he eyed the cans in Paulo's hand before the smell of something came up the stairs. Okay, so maybe this group thing wasn't so bad so long as the food smelled like that. "...I dunno if I wanna go down an' eat with them. Dallas said uncertainly, his gaze traveling down the stairs.

What he caught sight of made his eyes narrow and a frown come to his face. No, definitely did not want to eat downstairs. "Y'got a problem, old man?" Dallas would understand the glare being sent at him, the other survivors didn't seem to like him much. But this glare was on Paulo, and it made him prickly. If the man had a problem with them, he was going in the right direction to start a fight about it.

Paulo looked over at Dallas as he spoke out, saying that he wasn't certain if he wanted to go eat with the others or not. Paulo looked down at the cans in his hands, and then looked back up at Dallas, shrugging. Opening his mouth to reply, he was immediately shut up by Hank calling out their names. Waiting for Hank to finish speaking, Paulo continued to look at Dallas, and then finally spoke.

"We need to go interact with them eventually, Dallas..."

In a way, Paulo was trying to convince Dallas to go down and have some of the food that they had no-doubtingly prepared -- and from the smell of things, it smelled incredibly good. But as Paulo turned to look down the stairwell, he caught sight of the Major sitting there, looking back at him. And the vile look the man was giving poor Paulo was enough to make him a bit more than uneasy. Paulo frowned a bit, not sure at all why the man was so mad at him. At first he thought that perhaps the man was pissed because Paulo had taken two cans of food. But he figured it had to be more than that. Luckily, Dallas came to his rescue, speaking up against the evil look of the Major.

Inside Paulo smiled, feeling strong as he stood next to Dallas. But he knew that if Dallas got into some sort of argument with the Major now, then the group would for sure kick the both of them out. Really, what did they even bring to the group? Paulo had done nothing good so far, except nearly get killed in a house while looking for supplies and save Dallas from one little walker. And Dallas? Well, he'd done a lot -- a lot more than Paulo himself -- but they both knew that Dallas' mouth would be enough for the group to want to get rid of him. So instead of reveling in the smart comment of Dallas, Paulo instead turned away from the Major, looking at Dallas with a bit of a glare.

"Come on, let's go eat in this room over here. Forget him."

Shannon nodded at Hanks comment, unsure of what to say. They wouldn't have had to take such a risk if it wasn't for her. When he started to go up stairs, she turned towards the living room. She didn't want to touch anything, so she stood with arms wrapped around her waist. One of the girls in the group came to stand in front of her, offering a change of clothes. "Oh wow, thanks" she said with a surprise tone. Taking the clothes in her hands, thankful they were clean.

Hank came down the stairs, and grabbed up all the food, then headed for the kitchen. She squeezed past the man sitting on the stairs, not wanting to get anything nasty on him. "I'm so sorry, the smell should be gone pretty soon though," she said with a little smile. When she reached the bathroom she dumped the clothes on the back of the toilet. Undressing she stuffed her clothes into the waist basket, tying the bag in a knot to keep the smell in. When she looked in the mirror she cringed, she looked horrible. Turning the shower on she stepped inside, the water felt so good. Washing all the nasty from her hair, she got out toweled herself then got dressed. She noticed a neatly folded Uniform, picking up before she left.

When she reach the stairs again, the younger of her rescuers and another gentlemen were about to head down. There were a few nasty looks from each, and some words exchanged before two of then changed direction. The man on the stairs was without a shirt, so she concluded that the clothing she held was his. "Sorry we commandeered the bathroom, I brought your stuff out for you though." Just then Hank was thrusting a bowl of food into the mans hands. Her stomach growl loudly at the smell of it, placing the clothes beside the man she made her way into the kitchen. She was clean and now she was going to eat, she couldn't help but smile. Taking her bowl into the living room she began eating, as slow as she possible could. Knowing that if she ate to fast her body would reject the food.

James looked across to Dallas when he started, the Major was getting tired of everyone referring to him as old man, what was it bully the Major day! "We'll start with taking a shower.... Water in this day and age is more precious and Diamonds and Gold, you were told we had to conserve it and you flush it don the drain.... well done Lads!" The Major answered sarcastically. Hank came through to him with a bowl of chilli the man didnt even look at the Food, he got up before Dallas could retort and walked into the kitchen. He looked at the line of dishes and could tell which one was the one he wanted. Hank always considered scotch last and so the dog always got the smallest portion. James simply took the spoon out of his dish and placed it into Scotch's bowl and placed his bowl on the ground for the dog to get to when he was hungry.

He set his own dish on another counter away from the line of dishes and went into the drawers of the kitchen producing a torch he headed back up the stairs, Grabbing his dress uniform that the new woman had left him and went into the bath room, he grabbed the hold all that had been moved and loaded all his gear into it before walking along the corridor into the unoccupied room, the one at the very front of the house. this was the elder child's room, he could tell as the place looked like an armed forces careers office! He took the chair from the desk and blocked the door.... he wasn't having this room stolen off him! He set the flash light on the desk and continued getting dressed in the ABU, he stopped and sat on the bed for a short spell as he too off the original owners rank badge from the sleeve before he put the shirt on.

As he stood up from putting the boots on he put his dress uniform into his newly acquired hold all and zipped it up, as he headed for the door he stopped and looked at a poster the boy had made consisting of rank patches for the Multicam uniform so he could learn his ranks, carefully James too the Majors rank off the board and stuck it ho his uniform, he then tore the surname off his new shirt and sat it on the board before unblocking the boor and heading down stairs.

When he got down the stairs Catherine had suggested that he assist her on a shopping run. James snorted "Me!.... Oh No Hank wouldn't let that, I am an invalid after all, I am surprised he hasnt deployed Mr Euthanasia Zeke on me!... After all brutally killing people while they are alive with a six inch spike into the base of the skull is mercy these days..." James snorted again as he glanced at Hank he sat in an arm chair in the corner of the room.

Hank gave the Major a shocked look. "James, I'm not a dictator. You're a grown man. If you want to go with Cathrine that's your call. I only give you a hard time because I want you to take care of yourself. Which you obviously aren't doing. Believe me I'm not trying to force feed you the best food we have because I dislike you." He put his spoon down in his food and dropped the bowl roughly on the table before rising to his feet. He really didn't want to make a scene in front of all the new people. Team cohesion was integral to their survival. But it was happening. "What the ******** is with you lately? In the past day we stumbled onto five people we didn't know before and you tell them all Zeke is a murderer and I approve? Zeke is a god damned kid, and he did what he thought he had to when that walker tore into Bolo. It was weeks ago, move on. We have enough food for dinner and breakfast, more food once we figure out how to get to the cars. I'm feeding the dog for Christ sake. Oh, and while your demonizing people try to remember who's stuck their neck out over and over again for this group." He shook his head, the dam had burst and the frustrations of the entire situation hit him in a wave. It took every ounce of control not to yell. There were walkers outside after all. Punching a hole in the drywall next to where he stood he stormed out of room into the kitchen. All he wanted to do was break something. Destroy something. He was tempted to go outside and take out his frustrations on some of the walkers but that would be suicide. He leaned against the counter top and sighed heavily. at that moment he really wished Maya hadn't thrown away his cigarettes.
