Marcus 'Zeke' Kinkade

Zeke looked to the others as they made a new arrangement around the idea of a distraction, he wasn't the best shot with a bow, he'd tried it some time before but he was a quick learner and he remembered the basics and proper form. Plus the bow he picked up was of top grade hunting quality, not some cheap fool around one. Agreeing to the plan, he followed the others to keep track of things, but caught sight of Paulo and dallas kissing......that was a new one. Wouldn't expect their new farm boy to go tail chasing, but who was he to judge, hell, he might even give them a novelty item for use later. He smirked at the idea as he got to the window needed. He adjusted the quiver on his person and pulled the bow free, pulling and laxing the string a few times, practicing his form and footing in relation to the window. He did a quick look over of the bow and the arrows, noting areas he knew were important and how they affected flight of an arrow. All this keeping in mind might getting him to shoot better. Plus general physics, the arrow would dip after a distance, so he would need to ark his shot.

Once the room was filled by the others and Paulo was holding the window open, he pulled an arrow free from the quiver and slid it along the rest of the handle, clicking the back of the arrow onto the string properly, and then finally, pulling back on the line, loading the bow. He took a few breathes aligning his eyesight and then angling his shot for the ark he thought best. He would miss with the first one for sure, but getting it as close as possible he'd have a better judge of how to correct the second one. He loosed the arrow and it flew free. He gritted his teeth and grunted under his breath as his right hand shot to the inside of his left forearm. The string had dragged across the skin there. He forgot he'd need a guard there. But he didn't take his eyes off the arrow as it flew, and it did get close, hitting near the car to the left. Slapping his arm, he had no time to fret over a rub burn, pulling another arrow, he loaded the bow, and with the correction needed, loosed the arrow, gritting again, but laxing his arm. Her watched as the arrow flew, and hot straight into the windshield of the car they selected, a nice new red dodge camry. And as expected, the alarms went off without a hitch, what he didn't expect, was the reaction as another car alarm went off with it, the car infront of it.And then the swarm of walkers heading for those cars. All attention was off the house completely and hank. For the moment.

With a level of dread, he, like hank, forgot the group mentallity of zombies, the video game conquerer that zeke was should have remembered such a simple trait. "6 walkers.....we'll need to try to take them out quietly." He said, pulling off his shirt and wrapping it around his left fore arm to protect his arm, exposing the lean muscle he had, not the biggest builds, but lean, and refined, made more prominent from the fact his body had eaten all the fat he had, his skin stretched over his muscle. If they hadn't eaten tonight, then it might have been soon that, like the major, his body would start eating the muscles. Looping the bow across his chest, he looked to the others. "If hank is doing what I think he is, He'll try to deal witht hem around the backside of the house, out of sight of the other walkers. someone get downstairs and keep an eye on the back door. I need to keep a constant eye on them. If you all can, try to find some way to help them, but be quiet and stay out of sight." He spoke, quickly and quietly walking out of the room to another room on the side of the house without walkers, climbed out the window and up onto the roof, staying low to the roof, keeping an eye on them Once he had a shot that he knew he wasn't going to get spotted, he'd take it. Bow and an arrow ready to be loaded.

Taking a look back at Maya as she came into the room with Paulo and Zeke, Paulo nodded lightly to her before turning back to look out the window. He somewhat knew she would come and didn't mind her presence; it was her brother out there, after all. But when Jenna followed her up there and moved to look out the window as well, Paulo almost had a conniption. Too many people breathing down Zeke's neck would probably make him nervous and make it harder for him to hit the car, which in the end would make it a lot harder on Hank and Dallas. But Paulo didn't say anything, nothing at all to any of them, and instead sat on one knee, looking out the window.

When he could see Dallas and Hank come out from behind the house and start shambling into the street, Paulo's eyes widened and he turned to Zeke to make the shot. He watched with great interest as Zeke took aim and fired -- a dud -- and then reloaded, firing again only moments later. Paulo followed the shot as it sorrowed through the air, landing through the windshield of the newer car. As an alarm went off, his mouth formed a very wide, white-toothed smile as he then turned his attention closer to them, seeing the walkers start heading off towards the cars, and Dallas and Hank safely at the car. He watched as they got the girl out of the car, and Hank... well, Hank just dump the nasty s**t on the girl.

And as they started to walk back towards the house, Paulo thought that he would be reunited with Dallas soon. That everything would go according to plan, and that they could sit down for the first time in days and just enjoy the company. But no; something happened. As they turned to go back towards the house, Paulo saw another walker turn and... start following them. And then another, and more and more. His mouth hung limply open and eyes widened at the sight, and instantly he turned back to look at Zeke and the others, fear and panic in his eyes. When Zeke mentioned that Hank would be taking them to the back of the house and that they needed to find a quiet way to kill the things, or else the car alarms would be for naught. Instantly Paulo pushed himself to his feet and started walking quickly towards the hall.

"I've got the back door... Oh, god, oh god..."

He started whispering to himself after telling the others he'd cover the back, heading out into the hall and picking up his bloody machete. Walking quickly down the stairs, ignoring anyone that may have looked to him, he headed around to the back door, ready to help out Dallas, Hank, and the new girl. Paulo looked through the little curtains on the window on the door, watching as the trio drew closer and closer. His hand was tight on the doorknob, he would pull the door open when they got close so that they could get inside and he could help hold off any of the walkers that were left afterwards. Him helping kill them would definitely have to be a last-ditch effort, as he was a complete p***y when it came to fighting the things, but he would do it. Especially if Dallas relied on it.

RPD-Officer

Jack paced around the house nervously as he waited for Hank and the others to return. Scotch paced around behind him anxiously as well. "Scotch. Couch." He said. Scotch jumped up and put his head on Alice's lap. He was a good dog and had taken a shining to the child. Looking over at them Jack smiled, but then noticed the little girl looked miserable. Walking over he took a knee next to her. "Whatcha got there?" He said, watching her holding something in her little hand. Examining it he noticed it was a pepto bismal tablet. "Oh, who gave you that?" He looked around. "Well you'd better eat it, it'll make your tummy feel better. Then we'll get you cleaned up and find a cozy spot for you and Scotch. Hmm?"

"I want them to stop screaming ...

Alice was still silently crying and didn't even pet Scotch when the dog approached her. She only responded to Jack and after some effort from him, but she eventually opened her mouth for him to administrate the medicine. She swallowed hard and then sank back on the couch, keeping herself still and silent in order to make the pain easier to handle.

... Mom, Dad, are you ever coming back again?"

The Major squeezed Catherine's knee with his hand, and smiled at her nodding, it was his acknowledgement and thanks for her sympathy. "I see.... Its something I haven't done in a long time is ask for help.... one can find themselves, not sure how to do it especially when people depend on you." He said softly, it was evident he was still down, the effects of today had brought him down. He had made so many mistakes due to his condition, and he was ready for Hank to chew him out for them, the man had shot him glares all day. There fight wasn't yet over and James was still to proud to apologies, his ego may have been beaten into submission but pride was a much more strange and dangerous being.

James applied some pressure to Catherine knee as he grabbed the hand rail for the stairs and pulled himself to his feet, He turned and started walking up the stairs. Once at the top he looked at a photo of the family of occupants, it was a military family, the father was wearing ABU uniform for the US National Air Guard, the Son JROTC wearing an old army BDU uniform. In addition was the wife and daughter, both in smart civilian clothes. He noted the facts and proceeded into the bathroom, and closed the door behind him he went to the sink and lifted a bic razor out the back, he turned round to grab some baby wipes and open the cistern for the toiler when he noticed the mans ABU uniform hanging on the back of the door intact, in the bath was a hold all containing his boots, beret, face mask and a hand full of tactical glow sticks, the man must have been preparing to go to serve before he died and never even made it into uniform. It was the majors lucky day!

Maya Norley

Maya's stomach felt sick with dread at what was happening. She met Paulo's eyes which reflected her own fear and panic, and when he took off for the back door at Zeke's words, she joined him. Maybe the four of them could handle the walkers well enough without Maya, but no way in hell was she not going to help. That was her brother out there, dammit. She came up behind Paulo, her shovel from earlier back in her hands. Trying to reassure herself and the man, she murmured quietly, "They'll be okay, they'll be okay, they can get back here and we can deal with them quick." Her knuckles whitened as her grip got tighter on the shovel. Maya was pacing silently by Paulo and the back door as she continued to glance out the window, prepared to help.

Dallas Lee Tucker

Everything was going pretty well, actually. They had gotten to the car, the girl was out and now covered in guts to mask her smell. Heck, they were even heading back now, Dallas warily bringing up the rear to keep an eye out for Hank and Catherine. And then, ah s**t. First one, then two...god, six of them were following them. A pack mentality, couldn't be freaking serious right now. They had to get rid of them, and his eyes moved slowly up to watch.

Hank was right, they needed to kill them once they were behind the house. A gun would only attract them, but seeing as there was so many he knew his shovel would never be enough. Hank told him to grab his pistol, however, which made him ease. Good. He could take out the walkers so the other man could get the girl inside the house. He would have to trust the others not to leave him stranded. They could easily slam that door shut and leave him to the six walkers they were now stuck in.

"'Kay." Was his only response, slowly lifting his hand to get the pistol from the back of Hank's pants. Slowly letting out a steadying breath he clicked off the safety and just held it. No choice, he now had his shovel and the gun. He was the distraction. "Jes' focus." Shutting his mouth and giving a low growl as one of the walkers had gotten too close for comfort. It shifted a little further away, but Dallas's heart didn't stop pounding.

"Get inside....first off...I got this." In a tone that brooked no argument. Dallas needed to know that they would just get in the house so he wouldn't have to worry. He was certain, or at least very very hopeful, that those inside would come out to help him. Have some faith, his brother had always said. Have some faith in other people. Steadying his breath he closed his eyes to set up his confidence for what was coming. No way was he going down here, he was totally ready for this.

Once they were approaching the back door he turned, facing their new 'friends'. "Get inside, now." His shovel flung out first, hitting solidly and dropping the zombie nearest him. That distracted the others and he raised the gun, hoping against hope that they would be inside by the time he fired. "C'mon y'stupid sonuvabitches, focus on me." And he fired, taking down a second walker.

Paulo was looking warily out the back door window, peeking through the curtains still when Maya came up behind him. She spoke in a low voice, telling him reassuringly that they would be alright. That they -- Hank, Dallas, and the girl -- would get back there safely. Paulo was doing all he could to hold to that promise, because right now all he wanted to do was see Dallas' face. His normal, living face. And not a face that no longer breathed.

Finally the trio came into Paulo's view, and he began to shift a little uneasily where he stood as he noticed the herd of walkers getting closer and closer to Hank, Dallas and the girl. He thought they would make it, that the trio might actually just be able to run inside and they would be totally fine. But no; Dallas was the one to break that thought, as he called out for them to get inside, and then turned to stick one of the walkers in the head with his shovel.

Paulo instantly flung the back door open, reaching out to grab the girl by the wrist and yank her inside, letting Hank go in as well. Pushing past them, Paulo ran out onto the back porch. As he came out he saw something that horrified him; there was a walker coming at Dallas sideways, at a position that he probably didn't see. Paulo, in a bit of fear, panic, and heroic-ism, gripped the handle of his machete as tight as he could and pushed off, running up next to Dallas and bringing the machete up over his head. With a grunt, Paulo brought the blade of the machete down into the skull of the walker, sticking the blade right through it's eye socket, penetrating it's brain. Paulo's eyes widened as he saw what he'd done, and in a bit of panic pulled hard on his machete to get it out. It was stuck in the thing's head, though, so he brought one foot up and pushed hard on the walker's chest, the thing finally sliding off his blade and to the ground. Turning back to Dallas, he looked the man in the eyes and then grabbed his hand once more, pulling him back towards the back door of the house.

He knew that they still had to kill the herd of walkers that were at the back door, but that didn't mean they had to be outside to do it. As Paulo headed back towards the back door of the house, he looked up at the roof and saw Zeke sitting there. It was a bit strange, random even, to see the man perched on the roof. But he knew that with that bow, he could take out the things from a safe distance without attracting more. Once Paulo was inside -- and Dallas, as well -- he slammed the back door shut and locked it with the deadbolt, dropping his machete on a cabinet nearby. Breathing deeply, he looked frantically around the little area for something big and heavy to block the door with. After only a moment, he landed his eyes on a tall free-standing cupboard, going over to it and pushing on it hard until it rested up against the back door.

Paulo then turned back to Dallas and smiled, still breathing heavy. He was so relieved, so glad that the man was safe. He wanted to pull him into a big hug again, but Dallas was still covered in the walker s**t, so there was no way Paulo was about to get all that on him. So instead he just smiled and walked up to him, still smiling.

"Thank god you're safe. You have no idea how ******** worried I was, man."

Still smiling, he looked over to Hank, Maya, and the new girl. He nodded to Hank, showing his appreciation for keeping Dallas safe. But then something struck him, a thought -- or a realization -- that hit home really hard with him. Paulo turned back to Dallas, his smile fading away to that of a bit of a worried look. There was a sort of fire in his eyes as well -- not a strong one, but one to show that something was really bothering him. Paulo looked awkwardly over Dallas for a few moments before nodding to him.

"You have more clothes, right? I mean... I'd hate for you to have to go around naked. I mean, ah... I wouldn't mind, you know, but... ah... the others..."

Paulo blushed lightly, totally messing up the simple thing he had been trying to say. That wasn't what was worrying and irritating him, of course. He wasn't going to get irritated if Dallas had to walk around in his underwear and socks, but it was something to break the tension. Right then all he wanted to do was go upstairs to one of the rooms and chill out. Him, Dallas, and a few cans of food and some water.

To her great surprise as soon as she stood before the men one dumped a bag on nasty all over her. She pressed her lips together tightly, knowing it was to help somehow. The goop smelled horrid, she was afraid of what it might be, though a part of her already knew.

She shuffled along side the man, though it was hard. Her natural fight or flight respond told her to make a dash for the house. Soon she was noticing that more of the zombies were gathering around them. Her heart began to race wildly, her first thought was this isn't working. One of them brushed against her arm, it took everything she had not to cringe away. The man began talking about taking out the creatures behind the house. Her hand gripped the crow bar, readying herself for the first swing.

Walking the distance to the house seemed to take hours, but soon enough they were almost to the back door. Suddenly the younger of the men yelled to get in the house and swung at a zombie. He hit immediately, then shot another taking that one down just as quickly. As she was going to turn and begin swing someone grabbed her wrist and pulled her into the house. She stumbled through the door, barely catching herself from hitting the floor. Once inside she slid down the wall to the floor, breathing heavily as her adrenalin coursed through her. She wanted to help the man, who helped in her rescue, but her legs wouldn't move.

~~ Kyle Jackman ~~
[:]Kyle jumped at the sound of a gunshot Who the hell is stupid enough to fire a GUN in the middle of a horde of damn walkers?!?!..... Or who has a good enough plan to start shooting.... he said, deciding to go with his hopes that there was at least one person who knew what they were doing down there. He went prone, and crawled to the edge of the building, and looked over. He could see the walkers shifting directions, and saw another walker shooting.. Wait, that wasn't right. He looked closer, the walker wasn't a walker at all. It was some kind of disgusting walker outfit, made out of real walker. Authenticity... I like it he said, as an idea formed in his head. He ran to a fire escape stairwell nearby after packing his bag, he skipped stairs to make it quicker. As he leaped down the stairs he started yelling hey! Dead heads! Fresh meat! Big juicy dark meat! C'mon! he jumped down off the stairs, and stared down the horde I taste good.. he said, shaking his head slightly and smiling. He instantly regretted his decision when a rather large group started chasing after him. His cocky look changed to one of fear, and he turned around and hauled a** out of the area. He didn't have much ammo in his old Colt M1911 and the single fire break action .20 gauge shotgun was down to two bullets, but he pulled his sidearm anyways and fired. The first two bullets pegged a walker in the chest, then the neck. It fell to the ground, but started shambling back up, the next two pegged one in the head, and the downed one in the top of the skull. He fired one more, but it missed and just flecked some brick into a walker's eyes, barley even phasing it. He swore, and cut into the alley way. Relief ran through him when he saw that it looked like he could make a circle and go back to where he was, so he ran faster. Holstering his sidearm, he climbed over a make-shift barricade made from old barrels and a dumpster that was in his way. He ran through the right alley way and eventually emerged street level of where he was looking. He looked to the guy dressed as a zombie, and yelled to get his attention. Hey dumb a**! You need some help? he yelled, waving his arms.. He had managed to successfully attract enough attention to maybe help the man out, but he didn't know. He picked up a rock and threw it at a walker Come n' get it, the eatin's good tonight! he said. He cursed himself in his mind, he really didn't expect to walk out alive. But he was feeling.. Risky this time around. He ran across the street, over a car, and disappeared into a backyard of a house, taking as many walkers as he could with him.[:]

As Dallas made his move Hank slid his revolver out of its holster and brained the walker that stood beside him. Three more blasts brought down the remaining walkers and one extra who'd followed the noise into the back yard. Now blocked from view he followed Paulo's movement with the group back inside and pulled the blinds down on the shut door. Leaning against the counter he let out a breath he'd been holding for some time. "We're covered. Holy s**t, we're covered." He said, amazed that the plan had worked. Also some psychopath out there had decided to use himself as bait. Good, thought Hank. Let that guy get himself killed if it meant drawing attention away from them again. He was all out of heroics for the night. A few more walkers made their way into the backyard but none knew the house was the source of the noise. Continuing as they came they stumbled into the woods in search of their prey. He also couldn't help notice the emotional moment between the two men in the room. He raised an eyebrow at Maya, but didn't want to seem insensitive or prejudiced or whatever so wiped the look off his face. He wasn't a bigoted man, it was just well outside the comfort zone of most Marines. He pulled off his shirt and used it to wipe the filth off of his face. There was 50 gallons of water in the water heater in the basement they could use to clean up and no doubt fresh clothing the original occupants of the house had left behind upstairs. Not to mention a feast in the living room. "Let's go get cleaned up." He said to the group. "Then we'll eat." He wasn't hungry, but he knew that once his adrenaline went down he'd be hungrier than ever. Looking down at Shannon on the floor he held his hand out to help her up. "I'm Hank, this is my sister Maya. That's Zeke, Paulo, and Dallas." He said pointing to them respectively. "Let's get you cleaned up and fed." He said with a smile. "You're safe now." The words felt so wrong, it was the same old lie he'd told numerous survivors before her. Reassuring no doubt, but completely false. There was no safe.

Dallas Lee Tucker

Before he knew how to react Paulo was out with him, cleaving a zombies head in two. Blinking in surprise he looked to him, well, he wasn't going to say anything about that. He was pretty sure the other had just saved his life. Dallas also didn't argue about going inside, letting Paulo take his hand and drag him along, not that he needed the incentive. And then he was inside again, the door closed and dead bolted. And that made him almost relieved.

"Y'ain't shittin' me. I can't believe that bullcrap worked." careful not to touch anything he looked around the room, noting who was where. Their group was getting bigger, and that wasn't good. In the grand scheme of things that meant food was going to get scarcer for sure. Right now, though, he needed to clean up. Needed to get the guts and gore off of him before he had any further thoughts on it.

The look in Paulo's eyes would have to be addressed later, right now...A smirk came to his face and the teasing in his eyes spoke volumes before he even opened his mouth. "Y'want me to walk around naked? Hell...I will be, upstairs in that shower for a little while." Keeping his voice low and teasing so no one would overhear. The idea that he could get the other to blush pleased him in a strange way, and he chuckled, "Yeah I gotta spare set, don' worreh about it."

As he overheard Hank introducing the new girl he rolled his eyes. Safe? Seriously? What kind of a moron would believe that crock of s**t? "'M headed upstairs to the shower, y'comin'?" Nudging Paulo before going through the others, not giving a rats a**. He felt grimy, and the smell was almost too much. Once he got back to his duffel bag he breathed a sigh of relief, kind of glad he hadn't been thanked for going out there. This didn't make him best buddies with any of them.

"Mmm." Almost forgot. Picking up the second borrowed duffel he brought it over and dropped it by the table with the rest of the food. Then he placed Hanks gun on the table near it, not wanting to get accused of stealing anything. Then it was back to his corner where he picked up his bag and headed up the stairs. It wouldn't be a long shower, but if it got the disgusting smell off he wouldn't mind at all.

Paulo blushed like crazy when Dallas looked into his eyes and started going on about walking around naked and being upstairs in the shower. Paulo's eyes widened and he stood up straight, trying really hard to act like he didn't know at all what Dallas was talking about. They had just broken through a barrier earlier that day, not but half an hour or so ago. A really big barrier that had been weighing heavily on Paulo for a good while, and now they were being so open about everything. Of course Paulo knew Dallas was joking about the whole shower thing, and how he'd somewhat asked him to come along. Right?

Paulo turned to look at Hank as he started talking to them, the whole group, pushing past him and Dallas and heading into the main room. Paulo just blinked as he passed, somewhat hopeful they hadn't said anything about Dallas talking about the shower. For two reasons. One, because it would embarrass the s**t out of Paulo, even more than he already was. And two, because he really didn't feel like Dallas getting all up in arms over something right now. It was good, how they were. And Paulo just kind of wanted them to be good for a little while.

Dallas tore his attention from Hank and the girls, though, nudging him and asking him if he was going upstairs with him. He blushed yet again, still embarrassed beyond belief about the whole situation. But he just blinked a few times and then followed after Dallas into the main room like a lost sheep. As Dallas went to get his clothes from his duffel bag, Paulo followed yet still and picked up his own bag, not turning to look at the group at all. Seeing Dallas take the bag he'd scavenged over to the pile of food, Paulo couldn't help but look at the large stack of cans they'd amassed, his stomach grumbling from the sight of food. Looking over to Dallas as he began to ascend the stairs, Paulo quickly walked over to the pile of food and snatched up two cans, not bothering to look at what they were, before rushing off to the stairs and following Dallas on up.

Paulo stopped outside the bathroom, looking over at Dallas. His heart was beating fast for some reason, still feeling incredibly embarrassed -- or was it nervous? Dallas had mentioned him coming upstairs with him, but was he seriously wanting him to go in the bathroom with him? So Paulo stood there holding his cans in his hands awkwardly for a moment, before gathering the courage to say something.

"S-So, you know... there's a lot of people, and not a lot of water... maybe we should, you know... conserve. Just take... one."

Holy ******** his face was on fire from embarrassment.

Upstairs he felt a weight leave him that he hadn't realized had settled. Being out of the groups sight was a breath of fresh air, and he was quite glad no one had said anything to them before they'd made their break for freedom coming upstairs. He heard Paulo's footsteps behind his and he smiled faintly. He had been partly joking about the shower thing. I mean, they had just admitted to having feelings for one another earlier today. It was soon to be moving in, wasn't it? I mean, what counted as 'to soon' when the world had gone to hell?

Feeling gross he closed his eyes and focused on pulling his shirt off without getting more goop on his skin. Slowly he got it up over his head, breathing out once it was off. "Hell, that's gross." Balling it up he found a clothes hamper, empty, in the bathroom and he quickly tossed it in there. That shirt was dead by rights. He looked over at Paulo, went to undo his belt, and then looked back. A slow grin fit onto his face, noticing how out of sorts the other was. Triumphant? Why yes, yes he was.

Then he was talking of showering together to 'conserve water'. Christ, he would have laughed if Paulo didn't look as though he was about to explode from embarrassment. Ah heck, he chuckled anyway, pulling his belt through the loops and tossing that in the bin too. "Oh yeah? 'Conservin' water'? Ain't we generous?" Blatantly teasing him now. Really he shouldn't provoke him too much, the man did have two cans in his hand, and those would hurt like hell if thrown at him. But it was simply too tempting not to.

"So....y'comin' in or....y'gonna hold them cans all night?" If both of them came downstairs freshly showered he was sure the others would come to conclusions on their own. To be honest that made him a little less teasing and a bit more self-conscious. It was one thing with Paulo, he could be himself. But the rest of the group? He couldn't say whether he trusted them or not. Didn't want to test the theory either. This would have been easier if they hadn't met Hanks group he was sure. At least then there was no fear of others knowing.

Paulo stood there in silence and watched as Dallas began slipping off his shirt. He felt his heart beat faster so he turned away, looking over towards the stairwell. He could hear people talking downstairs, so he knew that they were at least giving them their distance. For now. Which was definitely needed and well-received. When Dallas said something about being gross, Paulo instinctively looked back at him, seeing his bare chest. Normally it was nothing unusual; they men had seen each other bare-chested before. It got hotter than hell out in the wasteland, after all. But for some reason, now it was different. Then his eyes strolled down to Dallas' belt, and Paulo felt his eyes widen a bit and the grip on the cans tighten. The cans might have exploded from the force of his hold on them, had he not been such a pansy.

But when Dallas started teasing him about what he'd said about conserving water, Paulo formed a scowl on his face, feeling the need to defend himself. Even if his reasoning behind the shower wasn't exactly to conserve water anyway.

"H-Hey! There's a lot of people, okay?! If we take too many showers, we'll run out of water... this s**t's like gold, man!"

But Paulo couldn't deny when Dallas asked if he was coming in with him or not. Even if he did make fun of the cans he was holding -- which, to Paulo's own defense, was totally a good idea. Scowling still, trying to mask his embarrassment, Paulo looked at Dallas as he headed into the bathroom. The scowl faded a moment later, and Paulo turned to look at the stairs at the end of the hall again for a moment, then to his feet, and finally back at the bathroom. As he entered into the little room with Dallas, he closed the door behind him and turned the lock.

The door to the bathroom opened as Paulo stepped out, completely refreshed and wearing his old clothes again, though this time without the scarf and vest. He still held the cans in his hands, though this time he had every intention of actually using them. Paulo waited outside the bathroom for Dallas, looking at the cans. He couldn't have picked any worse out of the selection of food, that was for sure. But by now they probably had little left to pick from, and he didn't really feel like dealing with the group anyway. There were a couple rooms up there still, so he knew they could get one to themselves at least for a little bit. Eat, talk. They needed it after the crazy day they'd had so far.
