Mary lifted her skirts up and wrinkled her nose in disgust as she stepped over what looked and smelled like a pile of rotten vegetables. She rarely ventured into the the market or actually out of northern part of the city but it was necessary. With the rise of the Thieves Guild and a recent robberies and muggings her father had begun to worry for her well being and thus hired her a body guard. That body guard was followed by fourteen more before he throw his hands in the air and charged her with finding her own guard. It wasn't her fault that everyone he had brought to her had been boring, dimwitted, or condescending for her to tolerate and as Daddy's princess always got her way.
So now she had left the comfort of the guarded norther part of the city into the more common areas. She had tried to hire a guard from the city guard but after a long and trying process that had wielded no results she decided she would look for someone who wasn't a guard. Her father was going to have kittens if she brought someone from the lower class home but that was half the appeal.
She was aware that she stood out among the crowd in her pristine white dress that seemed to shine ever so slightly and had gold ribbon and inlay. Eyes followed her as she moved down the road and stopped in front of a pub. This was the third she had stopped at and she had to part with some coin to make sure she had left the last too unmolested. Undeterred she pushed the door open and stepped inside. It was a bit dark which seemed to be pub norm and all conversation seemed to stop when she stepped into the room. It was to be expected since she stood out as obviously wealthy. Her last two pub experiences had taught her that the barman was the man to speak to so she stepped up to the bar; sparing a glance at a kitten that a blond man at the bar was petting. With a twist of her hand she summoned a large gold coin and placed it on the counter and smiled winningly at the bar keep. “Hello, I was wondering if you could help me? You see, I am looking to hire a body guard and I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction.”
