Prologue

Bam. Click. The door was shut, a hand locked it, and the figure in black garb walked toward the main room. The figure wasn’t old in age, but the color was gone from his skin and bags upon bags hung from his eyes. His once jet black hair was a mesh tasseled and mixed. White and grey strands were already starting to appear. The silver ring with its phoenix crested ruby was the only thing that gleamed in the dim candle light and even that lacked it’s past splendor. The figure wasn’t the only one sitting at the table, there was an entire family, each looking worse than the cloaked man.

“So doctor, what do you make of it? Can you aid our dear?” A voice spoke up from what looked like to be the head of the house - old and withered, paler and weak.

The doctor heard his voice and he shivered. His head turned back to look at the closed wooden door. The things that had come out of the mouth of that child were still plaguing his mind. He was at a loss for words. In all of his years of apprenticeship and even as a mastered physician he had never seen the likes of this. Magic was his specialty, he was used to healing and curing with the spells of druids and clerics, but this was not something one could cure. “I’m afraid there is no cure for what your child possesses.”

“-But surely, there must be something. The neighbors they complain and it’s all I can do to stop them from driving us away. We already moved to the edge of the town, away from the gates. If this continues we’ll be hearing from the king’s own guards they threaten.” He spoke.

The doctor was going to speak, but then it came.

A shrill of a shriek - the pitch that only a child makes when being slaughtered, the volume loud enough to make ears bleed – blasted from the closed door that did little to muffle the sound. It lasted no longer than that of another person’s scream but it repeated. Over and over the sound came and went, only after hours of the torturous scream did it stop and not for long. Afterwards came the soft sound of sobs and sniffles.

Behind the closed doors of the room laid a small child, no older than ten. Her long black hair would touch her mid back. She was covered only with a cotton nightgown and laid not on soft feathery beds but on peasant rolls of sheets. Her bed was stained red from blood, wounds all over her body show the markings of deep gashes and cuts yet no more blood bled out. The inner works of her body could be seen and witnessed, there was no healing but there was no killing happening either. Her flesh did not rot but simply continued to live. Yet this sight of horror was not what ailed the family or the doctor… it was the horrors of the words that came out of her mouth. The ramblings of phrophecy that were in a tongue long forgotten. The only knowledge of what the ramblings could be came from her after she came back from the trance. What had been shrieks of screams were in reality prophetic words in the tongue of the Abyssals. The words they made her say… She repeated over and over again in her sobs and tears. ‘The phoenix will fall… The golden arrow will slay them all… and then the skys will fall… and all will die… all will die… all will die…’

There's one thing that all shardmind's share as a race that separates them the most from other races and it's the simple fact that they're living constructs - they have no need to eat, sleep, breathe or drink. The concepts of Hunger, Thirst, Sleep Deprivation, Choking and several others just don't occur to Shardminds. Along with that, Shardminds don't need to sleep. They enter a state of inactivity instead and in this state they can literally rest while being fully awake. Most races have the need to sleep and only a few claim that they enter instead a state of trance like a shardmind. Teklar had to taught the signs of the things that his race didn't have to fear and is also one of the best options for a night watcher.

On the Solaris, the White watch was divided into groups - Active Rangers, Morning Watch, Day Watch and Night Watch. There are also other functioning sections of the White Watch such as the stable boys, caretakers, black smiths, builders, etc. Those unable to fight are found a place to work when sent to the solaris. Teklar had no choice when he arrived, he was sent to be a Night and Morning Watcher. And this is where his part of this story begins.

Teklar was standing watch at the rim of the solaris, infront of him was the mile high drop into the sea and the horizon of the narrow watch. The sun rose in the east and it's rays were just starting to peak over the border highlands in the distance that made friendly borders with the Tactaza Desert and their dezidens.

To his left Blizzra started to manifest and take her white domestic cat form. She had short cat hair, blue eyes, whiskers, black gloves, boots and a black tipped ears and tail. She stood as tall as Teklar's mid thigh and stretched a good three times longer from nose to tail. Her paws were outstretched as her hind legs arced her back and tail. The back in her arc moved from her tailbones to her mid section and to her neck in the same motion that she used to stretch each part of her body. Blizzra then leaned in and ran her soft furr against Teklar's hard crystalline body and purred her way as she weaved through his legs and then sat down on his right side.

"Hey here Blizzey, Did you rest well?" He asked. His mental message passed to her as her's would pass on to him. He crouched down and stroked her furr with his long fingers. The crystalline appendages weren't sharp to the point of cutting but they could scratch her just the way she liked to be stratched.

The white cat purred and closed her eyes as he pet her. "Mmmmhmmm." She replied.

"Good. Today we have a long day ahead of us. I need to wake the others in a bit, but apparently we have to make a small party and go on a little expedition." He spoke. His hand ran up and down her back and strands of hair relieved themselves of their grasp and took to the air.

"When do you want to wake them up?" She asked. Her purr sounded like a soft motor of a futuristic car that did not exsist in this world. It was audible but not loud, like a soft hum or whisper. "Ooooo... yes.. right there. Yes. Ahhhhh Yeah."

Teklar continued to pet her for a moment but stopped eventually and stood up right. "I was thinking of waking them before Basil wakes them. We all know how he'll wake them up." Teklar spoke.

"Yea, I guess so." She spoke. Blissey kept her eyes locked onto Teklar.

Teklar continued to stand there watching the horizon. He knew not what to expect from the oncoming strom that was waiting to arrive. Matter of fact it instilled fear in him. Not a fear because he thought it would come soon, but a fear because he knew that what was coming was larger than anything he had ever witnessed. His right hand reached over his chest and he ran his own fingers down the marks that the Dragon left on him ages ago. Shardminds could feel with fingers as if they had skin but it was still a different manner of feeling. This was a kind of psychic feel. His hands ran down the entire length of the scars though the thin Mindweave robes that he wore.

The chilly pre-dawn air nipped at her skin to no affect. Talisi was quite accustomed to the cold and would shiver for nothing less than a blizzard, and even then she’d give it a hard time.

Talisi’s glowing lavender eyes gazed placidly into the distance, expecting the sun’s tendrils of light to breach the firm horizon any minute now. She’d been on Night Watch and would soon be making the transition to Morning Watch; as an eladrin, Talisi needed less rest than most other races, and didn’t truly sleep the way most of the others did either. Because of her sleepless nature, Talisi had been assigned Night Watch upon her arrival on the Solaris, and was soon delegated to Morning Watch as well. Talisi really didn’t mind; in fact, she loved her job, wouldn’t have dreamed of ever asking for a different one. The night was her friend, and the pre-sunrise moments were precious to her. She’d always enjoyed being out and about without the noisy hustle and bustle of waking and working people, and being alone allowed her time to sing uninterrupted.

Humming softly, Talisi turned her face away from the east to survey the ground before her, a mile below. The sea crashed at the foot of the Solaris. If Talisi stilled and quieted long enough, she could convince herself she could hear the slap of water against stone and sand. The salty smell of the water was definitely present at all times, and on clear nights, Talisi really could hear the coming and going of the waves so far below.

Talisi shifted in her standing position along the battlements. The sheer drop before her left her feeling exhilarated rather than frightened, and Freefall loved to do just as her name implied, plummeting toward the shore a mile below, wings held tightly to her side, small body narrowly avoiding careening into the wall’s bright orange side.

The owl in question was currently perched on the battlement alongside Talisi, fleathers fluffed up and head tucked into her body. Freefall currently wore her great grey owl guise, her bright yellow eyes half shut and her huge mottled grey and white wings held firmly against her sides. Talisi’s eyes flicked toward the owl (though who could tell, as her eyes were pupil-less) and back toward the horizon as her hand reached up to stroke the magical bird gently. Freefall hooted softly at the touch.

“Ai-yah, Freefall, you’d best take your flight now. My watch is nearly over,” Talisi said softly, voice clear and strong in the still morning air.

The owl shook herself and blurred for a moment, shrinking and becoming paler as she took on the form of a beautiful orange and white barn owl. Her wings, made for silent flight, stretched nearly four feet from wing tip to wing tip. Talisi watched with quiet appreciation as Freefall tipped forward and began her long drop. The eladrin peered over the edge of the wall, watching as Freefall fell and fell and fell, shrinking in her sight, though she could still make out the detailed color of the owl’s wings.

Talisi withdrew her head and looked around the wall, stretching. Her replacement ought to be there soon, and then she’d be off to rest an hour or so if she had time before her little scouting mission with the others later. Talisi absolutely loved each expedition and craved the next time she would be able to venture the grounds below, Freefall at her shoulder or gliding silently as a ghost through the air, black barn owl eyes piercing all before her. Freefall was very similar to Talisi in the fact that they both were calm, demure, and pretty in normal circumstances, but reverting to wild fighters when in battle. While Talisi sang her fury and confidence, Freefall tended to hunch over (if she was sitting), stretching her little owly neck, and hissing viciously at Talisi’s enemies. There was something about a beautiful, frightening barn owl hissing that tended to scare people, and it was this state of Freefall’s that earned Talisi the nickname of Ominous Owl.

Wakey wakey...

Basil grinned as he peered over a buttress. Maymun was riding his shoulder in his Chapuchin form so that he was smaller and less noticeable. He had been awake for a few hours now, he had even already worked in all of his usual morning exercises. He usually took watch sometime during the day, because he worked himself to the point of exhaustion to bother certain members of the White Watch. It was exciting, and every single day of his life he was in danger of being ganged up on in his sleep. Then again, once he was awake, they wouldn't be able to find him... He didn't usually fall asleep in the barracks anyway. He usually passed out in some secluded corner and made his way to his bed when he woke up in the middle of the night. It was a sight to see if one was awake at the right time. Basil almost appeared drunk.

But that wasn't his worry right now. Right now, Blizzra was the target. Not for a prank mind you, but for the petting of a lifetime. Blizzra always looked so damn fluffy... HE HAD TO. It would be nearly a crime not to pet the kitty... This wasn't the first time the thought had crossed his mind, but today had the highest chance of him being killed by his brothers and Watch-mates than any other day. Teklar's fears had a vast degree of merit to them, as all the sleeping White Watch members would likely start waking up to the largest, nastiest, most harmless bugs in existence, crawling all over them. Each one was the size of your fist, and they were numerous indeed. "Today's gonna be fun!!" Basil thought, Maymun well aware of it though deciding only to respond with a grin of his own and the tensing of his little hands.

"Let's do it," Basil hissed excitedly. Maymun let out a quick, "Aw-right!" before bounding off of Basil's armor. In a small flash of light he was back in his spider monkey form, running straight for Teklar. Basil couldn't stop the monkey, though he followed after just behind him. Calling out now would notify Blizzra of his presence!! With a sound thud, Maymun made impact with Teklar's side as he glomped the poor Shardmind. He would be fine, maybe he wouldn't even fall over. The shiny man looked all deep in thought and stuff anyway, and where was the fun in that? Maymun was just helping. How he managed not to injure himself on Teklar's spikes though, only Maymun knew how to do that. He had some obsession with trying to look through Teklar...

"Damn..." Basil thought, this time shielded from his companion. Maymun ruined the surprise! "Good morning! Maymun says... hi..." Basil trailed off as he just stared at Blizzra, now within petting distance... Slowly, he reached his hand out, not even trying to hide it though somehow expecting the spirit cat not to notice. Of course, he knew she wasn't oblivious, but it would be like she was granting him permission if she let it happen. And if he got bit, so be it... He'd go cry in a corner somewhere later. "So... Close..."

(He's not actually this stupid, it's just... fun...)

The spirit monkey slammed into the Shardmind and had it not been for his telepathic link with Basil that had been worked in years ago, that might have actually worked well. The Monkey did indeed run into him or make an attempt at tackling him with his charge but he only met Teklar's huge left arm and embraced it with his full body. How the monkey hadn't torn himself to shreds was still a mystery to the Shardmind but he didn't mind it any more. The first couple of times that was taken off guard was strange, he didn't know how to react, but now that he understood that htis was meerly a sign of affection... well it pleased him alot more now-a-days.

"Oh does he now?" He responded to Basil. His voice was deep and low in tone but it was sandpapered smooth. He had no mouth to speak from but instead the shards of his throat gave off vibrations that made the noises that those around him called his voice.

Blizzra was sitting there and watched the Monkey hit Teklar with a body tackle and her head slightly drooped. "Surrounded by Monkey-brains again..." she thought. She took notice of Basil trying to come closer and pet her. The monkey had been trying hard for quiet some time now and Blizzra had denied him each and every time. If he loved to pull pranks on people because it was fun, she loved to deny him because of the crying tears and moping face he made afterwards. His expressions were better than teklar's expressionless face.

The white cat looked up at him, she leaned in and sniffed the monkey-man's fingers a bit, and then made the motion to lean in and press her furr against his hand. The instant her furr was going to touch his fingers, she spirit formed and phased right through Basil's hand. The monkey was denied... again.

Blizzra walked through the monkey man and then faded away from sight only to appear on the edge of the wall sitting and licking her paws. The hint of a smile on her face.

"Blissey says hello as well. And yes, hello to you too Maymun." The shardmind spoke and ran his hand through the monkey's fur.

Teklar looked over at Basil and nodded. "I presume you're well prepared for the quest today? Shall we go and meet up with Talisi? She was put on Night Watch with me earlier. I think she's just half a league down the wall. Freefall should be doing her rounds in the sky soon. I'm not sure if we'll be accompanied by any of the others. This quest is optional." He spoke.

Freefall the barn owl let the air tear at her streamlined body as she plummeted at breakneck speed down the length of the wall. The sea waved to her, enticing the owl, but Freefall was not fooled. She was no water bird, and she had no place in the sea. So as the water rushed up to meet her, Freefall opened her wings, shooting parralel over the water's surface, dipping here and there playfully. Her talons skimmed the water, slowing her flight, but she liked the feeling. As the sun rose to her right, Freefall climbed, beating her wings powerfully and completely silently. The flight back up to the top of the wall was always the hardest part, but she liked the challenge.

As she drew even with the top of the Solaris, Freefall cruised easily, sharp owl eyes taking in the figures dotting the wall. The sun did nothing kind to her sensitive barn owl eyes, so she'd be taking a different form soon. Probably the short-eared owl, as it was more suited for day flight. For now, though, Freefall glided on silent wings over the wall, spotting something interesting. There was a large figure peering over a buttress down at a lower but even larger figure standing on the wall. Her mind quickly supplied the names: Basil and Teklar, the half githerzai and the shard-mind, and their respective companions, Maymun and Blizzra. As Basil and Maymun whooped and descended on Teklar and Blizzra, Freefall slowed and landed gracefully, perching on a buttress opposite the other four, watching them with interest. Her sharp owl ears would have picked up Basil's raucous voice a mile away, so she had no trouble picking out the conversation between the chattermonkey and the iceman. At the mention of Talisi, Freefall shuffled her wings loudly and gave a soft hoot.

"The monkey and ice hominids are talking about you..." Freefall related to Talisi mentally.

Half a league down the wall, Talisi perked up, turning her face toward where she felt Freefall to be. "Oh?" she said aloud, softly. They were probably going to fetch her soon, but if her replacement came soon, she could meet them halfway. Moments later, the sound of footsteps reached her sensitive eladrin ears and Talisi turned to greet the newcomer.

"Not a moment too soon," Talisi noted, smiling slightly. Her replacement, a human man, nodded and settled into her spot and Talisi was free to go. She left without so much as a farewell, but the human wouldn't have expected or wanted one, so she saved her breath.

She made the short journey rather quickly. Despite being slightly shorter than the average human, Talisi had a long stride and she was eager to get off the wall. Talisi enjoyed the natural feel of dirt beneath her feet (or her horse's) more than she enjoyed the magical touch of the Solaris, so the sooner she reached her fellows, the sooner she was free to move about the ground.

Just because am human.......

User Image As the sun arose to the sky baking the Solaris in a warm yet chilly glow of orange many on the White Watch were staring to awake to relive the Night Watch members of there duties. Alexander was already wide awake and mad as dragon who just found there eggs to begone."BASIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!". His raging scream could be heard through out the Solaris as he hauled a** on top of the wall looking for his monkey of a brother. He awoke to find himself covered in the most horrible of bugs squirming all around him in his barracks bed along with the other members who where awaking to take the place of the Night Watch. He wasn't the only Basil hit soon the others would awake to these nasty little devils squirming upon them as well. Luckily he had an Alie against these pest. His companion Gilgamesh was already setting to work against these enemies or as he would most like think of it as breakfast. The gray colored wolverine hopped upon Alexanders bunk and set to work feasting upon the little intruders.

Alexander already knew who had played this prank. Who else but his hopping mad brother and his little cohort Maymun. Alexander had quickly thrown on his blue cloth tunic with the coat tails in the back. His cream colored cloth pants and tucked them in to his brown boots as he tied his ragged bandanna his head. He left his cape behind and just strapped his broadsword to his back and his shield over that. Then him and his pet Cerberus ran out of the barracks and across the path of the Solaris leaving Gilgamesh to finish his breakfast. Wolverines they pretty much ate anything sometimes twice as big as them. Those furry little creatures where like mini battering rams as they were known to drive of bears from a kill. Now matter how large the opponent maybe they never backed down...just like Alexander.

As shield and sword clapped against his back as he ran wildly along the Solaris looking for his brother so he could throttle him in to a early grave. Of course he wasn't really going to kill him. He loved his brothers even if they all had different mothers but sometimes they really got under his skin. Especially Basil. His feet might as well had been making craters on the wall as he ran across the top. The people who saw him running shook there heads as they knew about Alexanders rage once it go going there was really not stopping it beside violence. His eyes honed in on his brother as well as a figure who looked like a moving ice sculpture. Teklar was there and by the looks of it didn't some come to the nasty prank of Basil."BASIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AM GONNA TEAR YOU A NEW ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" He screamed as he picked up speed and dived. He pushed off of the ground with his right leg pushing him in to the air in a mid-pounce aiming for his hairy brother.

Moving at the speed of hilarious

Basil and Maymun both nodded in confirmation when Teklar asked about the greeting. "Of course!!" Maymun shouted to the general public. Letting go, Maymun let himself drop to the floor before taking up a perch on the battlement. Basil was then busy trying to get his fingers into Blizzra's fur, but as the little temptress would have it, he was denied yet again in one of the most cruel ways. It would have been something else entirely if she just bit him, but instead she was toying with him. "Damn..." he thought.

But then he got a little more serious since there was a quest involved. "When am I not prepared?" Basil joked as he started to work his way around Teklar, looking at the floor and dodging the smallest of gaps in the stone. His tonfa clacked a little at his belt, but in a pinch he could always steal someone else's weapon. "Talisi? Doesn't she need to sleep? Why don't you people sleep?"

Basil was distracted right after he finished his question. He and Maymun both whipped around in the direction of the barracks. Alexander was up, and he sounded... pleased. A grin appeared on Basil and Maymun's faces. He was already upon them, maybe he had been taking notes while watching Basil move. But, his bulky human brother went airborne, which made Basil's escape just too easy.

With a spin and a duck, Basil whipped himself under his flying brother in a flash. It looked kind of like a slide tackle attempt. Breaking out laughing, Maymun changed again to his White-Faced Chapuchin form and bounced off of Alexander's back to land on Basil's shoulder. Together, the pair used Teklar as cover to move past the group and in the direction opposite the barracks and thus in the direction he suspected Talisi to be in. And of course he was right.

Basil had no worries about his brother catching him, no one could keep up with him. Well, maybe Freefall, but that was like cheating anyway. It didn't take long before he saw Talisi, which meant that the previously mentioned feathered fiend must have been around somewhere. "Hi there!" Basil called out, checking over his Maymun-free shoulder to check the distance between him and Alexander. He would be good for at least another couple of seconds. "Have a fun night?" Maymun blurted out happily. All this pranking was more fun for him since he only had to get to Basil to escape. There was no actual running involved for him.

Why don't we people sleep.... The question he made was one that made him ponder just a bit more than he should have. He kept it to himself though and then forgot his train of thought when he noticed Basil's bother jump from a distance and come attacking. This manner of play fighting and greeting one another had taken Teklar a while to get used to but when he did he stopped paying much attention to it. Why should one bother to retaliate when the threat is non-exsistent.

The Shardmind waited till basil was out of the clear and waited for Alexander to land. The moment the human did, he motioned to the direction that they were going to move. "Ready as well I presume. Come along. We have to gather Talisi and then we can be on our way."

The moment he finished his words, Blizzra jumped from her location and ran down the pathway to first catch up, and pass the moving monkeys and then when she reached Talisi she ran around the Eladrin's legs and sat next to her left side. Her white fur with black trimmings made her stand apart from the coming fiends known as Basil and Maymun. She looked up towards Talisi and her motor of a purr could be heard. She didn't need to say it but her look said it all, 'Hello.'

Teklar was next to appear as a swirl of shards swarming in each and every direction. He had loosened the physical link of his shards and they were litterally spinning in a funnel manner. He moved much faster this way than a normal person could run. He shardswarmed his way till he was near Basil and Talisi. He pulled himself back together and his shards took his form as fast as it would have taken for the Eladrin to have blinked. Teklar gave the eladrin a light nod. "Glad to see that your still awake. With us four here, I do believe it's time we got going. Do you all have your preparations and requirements needed for a seven day expidition?"

Just Because Am Human...

User Image Alexander landed with a heavy thud on all fours due the metal plates in the back of his boots. He twisted violently to look at his brother flames in his eyes."Am gonna rip hat hairy face of yours apart". his eyebrow twitched as a large vein pluses on his forehead looking ready to burst. This wasn't the first time he had went head to head with his prankster brother one day or another the little rat seem to get one over on him and he returned with brute force of pounding and he intended to due it once again but he had to catch the flying monkey.

Suddenly a large shadow descend upon Basil. And suddenly a cruel smile came to Alexanders face. The shadow was Gilgamesh the wolverine. This was his neat little trick he could grow to the size of a horse at will. While the others companions had shape-shifting and different forms with little perks Gilgamesh only needed size to be dangerous. Wolverines where notorious fighters that didn't back down even from larger opponents. With sharp fangs and claws and powerful muscles in there body they could crush a deer skull like a twig and even chase of bears.

Gilgamesh heavy breath sounded around Basil as a bit of drool from his maul dripped on to the little monkey Maymun.Alexander was about to throw himself at basil with Gilgamesh blocking the escape route but Teklars mention of supplies dawned on him."uhhhh....I'll be right back!". He said and took off at full speed back to the barracks. Two minutes later he came back slightly out of breath as he now had his worn cloak around his shoulders and a bag containing a canteen of water with rations and his bedroll on the top of it.

He glared daggers at his brother."You better watch yourself today out there I will get you back for the bug trick you can count on it". He said and whistled for Cerberus and she was at his side.Gilgamesh shook himself roughly and sunk back to his normal size if not a tad bigger and patted over to Blizzar. His rough growl and grunt combination was a "good morning" and then he let loose what was mostly likely a burp of some kind from his breakfast of bugs. "Morning Teklar, Talisi."

No sooner had Talisi left her post than Basil had set upon her, shouting cheerily and seemingly running from something. Talisi slowed, pleasant surprise etched on her face, as the githzerai neared her. Little Maymun bounced on Basil's shoulder, echoing his companion's friendliness with a greeting of his own. Past experience with the monkeyish pair suggested that either Basil was running from a distraught prank victim, or he was simply eager to get on with the field trip. A glance behind the nearing duo confirmed her first guess: running from a distraught prank victim, Alexander by the look and sound of it. Freefall relayed the past few moments' happenings to Talisi, and the eladrin smiled slightly. Basil was quite well known for his love of tomfoolery. Talisi hadn't really been a victim yet, and she wasn't sure what would happen if she was ever made one. Her patience got her through many a trying time, and she supposed it really depended on what sort of prank Basil pulled on her.

"Good morning, you two," Talisi replied placidly. Her gaze flicked toward the enraged Alexander and back to Basil, an amused grin on her face. "My night was uneventful, unlike yours seemed to be."

Just as she slowed to a stop entirely, Blizzra sauntered past her and circled her back to sit at Talisi's left side. Talisi spared the beautiful white and black feline a smile and a nod in response to her hearty purring before turning to face the coming shardswarm quickly approaching from where Basil had appeared from. Teklar. Talisi gave him a deep nod in return as he regained his hominid form and greeted her.

"Quite awake," Talisi agreed calmly. She seemed rather unmoved by all the excitement and activity around her, from Basil's usual hyperactive exuberance and Alexander's fury to Teklar's sudden, whirlwind appearance. At the shardmind's question, Talisi shrugged her right shoulder to make the unstrung bow and quiver on her back bob into view through her loose silver hair. "I am ready to leave."

Freefall chose that moment to join the largening group. She playfully swooped by Maymun, brushing him with a wingtip before settling on Talisi's shoulder, talons gently gripping the eladrin. Talisi absently reached up to smooth Freefall's breast feathers. "If we are all here, I see no reason why we should not depart."

Just then, Alexander and Gilgamesh made their presences known. The wolverine familiar was easily the size of a horse. Freefall shifted restlessly. She was not particularly fond of all this noise and things were not going to get better from what she gathered from Alexander's threats. Talisi and Freefall watched the human blink before running off to grab something - supplies presumably.

As Alexander returned, Gilgamesh reverted to his usual size. "Gilgamesh," Talisi responded, inclining her head. Freefall stared solemnly at the wolverine. Her eyesight was far superior to his, and she was silent enough to avoid detection, so she could rake him with her talons if he got too rowdy or too large. Sensing Freefall's line of thought, Talisi shifted ever so slightly, almost imperceptibly, but enough to distract Freefall.

No such thoughts today, my friend, Talisi said to her companion mentally. Not today.

You wanna be a punching bag?!

The monkey pair nodded as Talisi confirmed exactly what they had done. It was certainly a prank, it was always a prank. "Uneventful nights are the worst," Basil said with a smile. Maymun giggled along stupidly, especially when Freefall brushed him with her wing. He knew there was a reason he kept her around. Neither really reacted as Teklar joined them. He must have flew past his brother. This was always a fun group, aside from Talisi and Teklar when they weren't in the process of something funny. They were kinda dull in his opinion otherwise.

With Gilgamesh breathing down his neck though, Basil figured the situation was probably going to get a lot more interesting. Maymun shrieked and leapt from Basil's shoulder as the drool hit him. It obviously didn't hurt him, but he was more or less disgusted. "That's disgusting!" The little monkey's thoughts were projected to everyone present. Luckily, Maymun could just go into his spirit form to lose the gunk. The puddle on the floor though would be something to look out for. Basil never turned, never wavered, he just kept smiling at Talisi. Alexander had a tendency to get bored with his targets, well, sometimes. If they weren't putting up any resistance in some cases of sparring Basil had seen.

Basil nodded and chuckled at Teklar as Maymun remounted Basil's shoulder. "I'm sure it was accidental, but thanks for derailing him." Maymun didn't look too pleased at Alexander and Gilgamesh's return though. Such slobber was most unbecoming. "I can sleep anywhere and I can go for a long time without eating! Hunting is all I need!"

He chuckled then at his brother, glancing at him from the corner of his eye, "Me? Keep my eyes open? I think I'll be okay." It was pretty obvious Basil was teasing his sibling.

"Anyway, what's the mission?!"

(Heh... Dodge tank...)
