Vincent sat in silence as he watched the girls make their way across the stage, auditioning for the guys in the audience...he saw this as a pointless fundraiser...what the hell was this funding anyways? it was basically slavery for a week...not sure who approved of it...the only reason Vincent was here was a bet he lost against his best friend Kendall, who said this would be good for him...he had recently lost his girlfriend to a drunk driver, so getting out in the dating game could be what he needed to move on...Vincent much rather meet girls in a more normal situation, but of course, things never really went the practical way in his life...

Vincent sighed as he crossed his tattooed arms and watched the next group of ladies...the fist was a lovely red head...Miss Lacey Turner if he wasn't mistaken...she was rather pretty, but he didn't want to buy the first girl he saw of course...Vincent may have forgotten about all the beautiful girls in his school...when he was with his girl Stephanie, he never did pay any attention to the other females in his classes....

                      • Aria waited a bit behind, letting the others pass before her, for example Lacey. Maybe then this way, people would be more interested into buying the other ones rather than her. Not like anyone wanted her anyways right? Except for those that didn't really like her... which could be about half of the school. After all, she had this reputation to be quite the rebellious one... Not that she wasn't, which explained why she had this certain reputation.

But putting that aside, the group stepped in the spotlight. And she, after them all, lazily walked in with her bag, black converse, jean shorts, green kaki t-shirt... And let's not forget the variously colored cap over her ginger hair. Quite the contrast when you compared her to the rest of the bunch, whom wore makeup and pretty dresses or whatever thing girly you could find on earth.

Aria didn't care about making a good first impression. Her goal wasn't go get someone to buy her... Especially if it was one of those persons she needed to pay back due to a little something she had done in the past... "Urgh... The lights are blinding me..." She growled, still unable to see the crowd correctly but hearing the noise very well, which was also one of the reasons why the principal and the others involved in this auction had to speak through microphones...

Aria crossed her arms and sighed, wondering who would get chosen now between them all...

Dexter Baldyrem

Knowing the crowd was huge, Dexter figured there was bound to be at least someone he knew. He craned his neck over the crowd, searching for absolutely anyone that he recognized. Luckily, he didn't have to look too far. Weaving through the crowd a few feet-even that was a hassle- Dexter tapped Vincent's shoulder.

"Aye, man. I'm a bit surprised to see you here! How are you?" A bit surprised was an understatement considering the man had lost his girlfriend to a drunk driver not that long ago...He wasn't trying to forget her, Dex knew, but he was trying to honor her in at least becoming well acquainted with a few other girls in the least.

Stephanie would have wanted him to be happy and live life to the fullest of his capability. After all, Stephanie was his sister, and they had been close.Oddly enough, she had been comfortable talking to Dex about guys, how she felt they treated her and her friends, how Vincent was one of the first to truly respect and love her for her. And she reciprocated, being just as loving and respectful. She loved life, she loved being happy, she loved Vincent-surely she would have wanted what was best for him now.

Trying to keep the subject light, Dexter flashed a comforting smile and looked over at the stage, then back at Vincent. "I personally don't quite understand this fundraiser. Like... I get its for charity but, why sell girls when you could have a runway show of sorts, you know?"

Vincent slowly looked back once he felt someone tapping at his shoulder. "Hmm?" he then noticed it was his girlfriend's brother, Dexter..."Oh...umm...Dexter, it's nice to see you...I'm fine..." he said quietly before returning his gaze to the stage...

if there was anybody in the school who could understand what he was going through, it was Dexter...they had both seen how each other looked when they were completely broken...Steph was his sister after all...

when he brought up the run way fashion shows as a substitute for this, Vincent silently nodded. "Yes...this does feel like a form of slavery...then again, the girl did sign up for it I suppose..." he said before sighing. "You should be surprised to see me...It wasn't my plan to partake in this thing...I may have lost a bet to Kendall..." he said, still watching the girls walk across the stage...

Dexter Baldyrem

Vincent seemed somewhat distracted in his response and Dexter started to thing perhaps it wasn't a good idea approaching him. Was he just an annoying reminder that Steph wasn't there anymore? Could they still be buds even without the connection she was with them?

Scratching the back of his neck, Dex looked around for some sort of escape. He never really could handle awkward tension-which seemed to happening more often since the entire school knew Steph and Dex as the 'amazingly-close Baldyrem siblings. The school newspaper just had to make that apparent before, during, and after her pass.

Knowing there wasn't really any going back, he put his hand back in his pocket and watched with Vincent, absently commenting, "Another of those bets? Kendall always makes you do the worst things man..." Then Lacey walked up. Dexter couldn't get his eyes off her. She was absolutely beautiful, though her reputation for being the b***h in school made him not want to bid on her. How could someone so beautiful and seemingly kind-hearted have such a reputation?

It was the strangest sensation, being out on that stage, Lacey could scarcely see a thing but she knew that there was a hall filled with people starring up at her. For the briefest of moments a knot of anxiety twisted Lacey’s stomach; as far as she could tell there were three possible outcomes. The first was that someone would bid on her because they wanted to spend time with her, the second someone would bid to punish her, and the third, no-one would bid at all. Lacey was not sure which one of these was worst. She pushed the tight feeling in her chest down harshly, smiling wider until her cheeks ached with the effort, instinctively Lacey’s fingertips traced along the waistband of her skirt, following the bare skin until it found the thick, knotted scar. Slowly but surely girls were stepping forward, from the back of the stage she could scarcely hear the bids, but some girls were certainly on stage far longer than others. The headmaster seemed to be enjoying his job as an auctioneer, his voice was rising and falling rapidly, interjected every so often to with a bark of ‘sold’ and the smack of the gavel.

“Give a man a hammer,” Lacey muttered with a sneer.

Her name was called and Lacey strode forwards, shoulders back, keeping her eyes wide even against the glare. She turned on the spot, looking over one shoulder and winking at the audience she could not see. Beside her the headmaster’s cheeks turned a shade darker than his usual, ruddy glow. Lacey grinned, it had been a very long time since she had been on stage, she had almost forgotten how good it could feel. Behind her Lacey could feel eyes glaring into the back of her head, she did not need to be able to hear them to know what half of those girls were thinking.

                          Slut.

                          Whore.

                          b***h.

Lacey had heard them all before, how she was a dirty, attention seeking, tart; how terrible a human being she was. As far as Lacey was concerned they could all take a long walk off of a short pier.

He strolled in with an immaculate confidence that came in the form of a pristine entourage. He was clad in a pair of Ray Bans, a cream flannel checked shirt, skinny fit night stone wash jeans in designer denim, and Dr. Martens Bentley Brogue Boot Lace-up Boots. His left wrist was adorned with a silver and leather watch, and his hair was groomed in an effortless umber. He knew he was there undoubtedly for the auction; the fundraising was what received his attention. As an active member of the community, participating in the school’s annual fundraiser was a privilege, one he wouldn’t miss. He’d already participated in three consecutives charity soccer games as captain and left winger of both the school’s soccer team and of his own team coached by his father outside of the educational institution. He felt as if the community had been widely responsible for promoting him and for his scholarships. He’d already received invitations to play for a few professional teams in a foreign country and would be taking a plane to Madrid when the year came to an end and he received his diploma. He hoped to spend the remaining year as effectively as possible.

He overheard his two friends discussing a bet. As for himself, he clearly didn’t do it out of a bet; he genuinely wanted to support the fundraiser. “You know, he really ought to let you just figure these things out on your own, but if it means well, then I suppose he did the right thing,” he said, welcoming himself into their conversation. He patted the two gentlemen on the shoulder before gazing up at the stage where the numerous ladies were to make their debut into the crowd of men with versatile purposes as to why they were participating in the fundraiser. His significant other was too envious of his attention to share, but he insisted that he participate.

When he looked at the stage, his eyes skimmed through until his gaze halted on Aria. Her presence stood out for obvious reasons; she had resisted the cliché beauty pageant attempts that the fundraiser had imposed. It wasn’t really all that necessary either; they were doing so as a bit of a vanity fair, which was why he was so intrigued by her. While the majority could’ve simply looked her over immediately, he couldn’t seem to relocate his gaze just yet. His observation wasn’t exactly based off of her beauty; he didn’t scan her countenance, only centering on the expression she gave. He began to analyze what thoughts could’ve possibly been running through her mind, likely discomfort.

Vincent silently watched the girls as his friend spoke. "Yup....although, he has good intentions..." he said with a sigh as he watched Lacey, the first woman...he heard she was a b***h, but that didn't really matter to Vincent, as he believed that in truth, she had every right to be angry and quote "Bitchy" when the other girls in this fundraiser were sluts and were not that hesitant to give it up to any guy they came across...Lacey certainly was beautiful, that was certain...but he just couldn't bring himself to bid on any of the girls..."Maybe i'll just go for her...she looks like the type of person that will leave me alone if I rent her..." he said with a sigh, before noticing the look in Dex's eyes..."you going for her?" he asked before Thiago appeared from behind...

Vincent shook his head in response to his friend. "yeah...I figured the same idea..." he said as he noticed the next girl, Aria...it seemed that she was similar, another beautiful woman that wasn't in the fundraiser to get laid...Vincent had to buy a girl as result of the bet, so either one of these girls would be suitable for him...he would simply buy her, and just form a meaningless platonic relationship..."Well...gentleman...I will leave it up to fate..." he said as he pulled out a coin, and flipped it emotionlessly...

Vincent then noticed that the coin was heads, which meant he would bid for Lacey....unless of course, his two friends had anything to say about it...

“I commend you on your willingness to let a coin decide,” he replied, looking to the coin to see where it would land. “And if my guess is correct, fate says her.” He pointed in the direction of the flamboyant damsel whom had been parading herself. While he did have a few ideas on who he’d have otherwise selected, he wanted to see who would receive no offers. He had a set amount he wanted to offer. “You’d better hurry then, man; she’s on now.” He felt as if there’d be quite a few bids for her, so he hoped the fundraiser wouldn’t burn a hole through his wallet. Perhaps that was one advantage of him staying his choices from her; she was a delight to the eyes, no doubt, but not quite whom he had in mind. However, he was still observing.

Marina reluctantly sat as the people backstage attempted to quell her long mane of hair. She combed it all over to one side for a reason, however the group of PTA moms wouldn't take no for an answer, and ended up flat ironing her raven tresses. She had been promised 100 bucks to do this, a wager between her and her guy friends -therefore, all of them practically- and she needed cash. However, this was a terrible mistake, and she knew it already. The poor girl hadn't even been on stage yet, and already she was done. She wondered if she could drop out, or make a run for it, escaping before anyone could catch her. Regardless, she was going to have to deal with this, and hopefully she'd be saved by one of her friends, or maybe no one would bid on her. Letting out a sigh and looking herself over in the mirror, she stood, practically shoved into line with the rest of the girls.

As Erik entered the auditorium, he could see students he recognized but did not hang out with. They were all gathering close to the stage checking out who was on display. More notable figures among the crowd of males that Erik could see were Dexter Baldyrem, an all-around nice guy, Thiago Romero, the type who knew how to dress for the occasion, and Vincent…Something. Erik could not remember the guy’s name nor did he try to remember. He would never approach any of them at this moment anyways, due to the fact that any conversation he tried to start would be awkward at best. Filled with condolences for the loss of their sister/girlfriend respectively towards Vincent and Dexter. Then awkward silence. He did not want to start an awkward conversation like that. Instead Erik headed towards the group of guys that had secluded themselves into a nice dark corner close to the stage. All the guys that he hung out with were the types that the school liked to call nerds, Asians, mathletes, bookworms, etc… Erik just thought of them as like-minded individuals.

They all filled him in on what he missed since he arrived late to the event. Erik was too nervous to bid on anyone yet. Even with all his friends that surrounded him teasing and making suggestions about what girl he should go for. He did not want to step on anyone’s toes. He could already imagine what would happen if he accidentally picked someone’s girlfriend. Looking never hurts though…right?

One that stood out the most was Aria Elmore. Her reddish orange hair was like a beacon calling for everyone to look at her, and her clothes did not help her blend in with all the dressed up girls. Only a few had chosen to dress down but they were still outnumbered by the girls in dresses. In hindsight it might just be his biased opinion that he thought Aria stood out from the other girls. Seeing how most of his friends were talking about Lacy Turner.

Erik’s father was rather well off so Erik did not have to worry about how much money he had to spend on the auction. All he had to do was promote the fact that this was a charity event, to the extreme and how much it would help the school. Especially when he hinted that donations could increase the amount of high school to college prep courses. His father was then all too happy to doll out some cash for this event. The only requirement he had was to bring his ‘maid’ to the house to meet his father. One thing was for sure the school had a bad taste in naming things, even if it was a tradition.

Now all Erik had to do was make the most of this moment. This year was his senior year so he had to go all out. Break out of his shell and live a little. Right now the one that stood out the most to Erik was Aria Elmore. She had the looks that appealed most to him at the moment. She look like a girl who could show him something interesting. Definitely not the type of girl he could bring home to daddy though.

Lacy Turner on the other hand was a middle ground type girl. She was a beauty, the type that all the guys were flocking too. But not Erik’s type. She would go over well with his parents which was a high point for Erik wanting to bid on her, but to Erik her looks were very intimidating instead of pretty. He felt if he bid for her instead of a maid-master relationship, he would end up acting in a manservant-mistress relationship.

Further down the line was some rather well put together girls, what others would call Plain Janes. Out of them Heather Keller, with nice brown curly hair would be a safe bet when it came to introducing someone to his parents. Erik was still undecided on if he wanted to go with a safe decision, and please his parents or do what he really wanted to do for himself. He still had time to think, he had to wait for some of the more aggressive guys to make their selection before he picked. Maybe another girl could catch his eye while he waited.

                      • Aria sighed loudly. She could feel the stares of the many people on them... Well, maybe most on the other girls. Heck, who would actually stare at her? She was showing no sign of actual interest anyway... Compared to that other girl, whom had been called not so long ago by the principal, one of the auctioneers for this event as there was many other teachers who were also doing this. Because that the students wanted it or not, the auction only lasted a morning. Then, they all were sent back to their classes for the afternoon. And lucky were the unhappy girls when they weren't in the same class as the one who bought them... But that wouldn't save them.

She stared at the redhead in front of her, smirking at the audience and doing the usual show. Most of the girls hated her, thought of her as a slut or a b***h but honestly, Aria stood neutral. She wasn't one to believe rumours and usually waited to have a talk with them, actually see if they really are what everyone say they are before making a judgement.

                        "Aria Elmore!"

Ah, seems like this was her call as one of the other teacher turned around and gestured her to come forward as the previous girl who had been standing there was now walking down the stairs to go meet her "client" for the week. And reluctantly stepping forward, she gazed down at the crowd and sighed. God... So many people. And yet, barely a stare on her... The ginger haired girl immediately averted her gaze from the crowd of students to stare at the other senior girls, whose bids were already getting high up. That maybe was going to be a long auction... And maybe in the end, she'd be saved from the fate of being someone's "maid" for a week. Not that she'd be a very easy one to deal with anyway...
