While he was a bit apprehensive to enter the dark forest and bogs of Kestrel, but the promise of a warm meal and cozy bed made him forget his worry for now at least.

"We need to hurry" He muttered, as he made for the forest tree line. He gently ushered Faena behind him, taking the lead. He knew Kestrel's forests like the back of his hand, he just prayed the mists had not settled early among the bog and forest floor. "Stay close to me." He instructed before disappearing under the shade of the trees.

LOCATION: Coravan Palacexxxxx COMPANY: NPC Sultan xxxxx EQUIPPED: Poison Vial

He was a patient man. The small get together with the Sultan was going rather well, despite the ominous air that lingered within the plush sitting room. Much like all well seasoned predators, Argento knew the importance of the waiting game. A wise predator would wait for the opportune moment to strike, much like a snake in tall grass. The prey must be caught completely unaware, and in order to do that he must wait. Argento gently sipped the strong alcoholic beverage from a golden cup. His eyes remaining trained on the flushed face of the Sultan. It seemed that the man was on his way to intoxication and had no intention to stop drinking.

Argento briefly wondered how such a fool came to power, even within such a game as this. The man was to naïve and childish to rule effectively. Before the Black Order had established itself within the desert Kingdom, thieves and cutthroats ran rampant. It was Argento and his guild that brought a somewhat stable peace to the region, not the Sultan.

He was snapped out of his dark and resentful thoughts with the sound of a high pitched whine. His gaze refocused and spotted the Sultan trying to summon more alcohol from an empty bottle. ”It’s all gone,” The Sultan whispered sadly. His flushed face twisted in confusion. ”Why is it gone?”

Argento refrained from releasing a contemptuous scoff. Instead he reached into his robes and pulled forth a bottle of wine. ”Alas, your majesty, you have drank most of your valued stock. However I was wise enough to bring my own.” He offered the vial to the Sultan gently, but recoiled when the main snatched it from his hands rather violently.

The poor drunk Sultan nearly fell over in his haste to claim the new bottle. For a brief moment Argento could no longer reign in his distain for the man before him. His eyes shot a nasty glance upon the Sultan as the man opened the bottle frantically. Argento was rather glad that the official taster was passed out on the floor. The poor lad could not handle the amount of alcohol the Sultan drank. The Sultan himself, not of his wits, had yet to summon another royal taster to the room.

The bottle opened with a loud pop, and the Sultan was quick to pour himself a glass. ”I would be careful my lord. That drink is rather strong,” Argento half-heartedly warned, but the Sultan only waved his ‘concern’ away.

”Never fear Argento. I can handle my spirits,” He said with a sloppy grin. He raised his glass in a toast, ” To Coravan” the Sultan finished happily, before downing the glass. Argento followed suit, however he maintained a trained eye on the Sultan. A peaceful silence befell the two, and Argento squeezed his empty cup tightly. The suspense was killing him. He had faith in his skills, but he desperately wished to view the outcome of his labors.

Suddenly the Sultan’s face paled, his body shuddering. He began to cough, and his hands rose to grip his chest. ”What in-“ He spoke in alarm, but cut off. His body falling to floor in seizing, his hands and feet hitting the plush pillows that served as their seats during the evening.

Argento gracefully rose from his seat, taking soft and measured steps toward the Sultan’s seizing body. His eyes were cool and sharp as he stared down at the main who governed the Kingdom of Coravan. The Sultan looked up at him from the floor, his eyes wild with panic and alarm.

”Argento you tra-,” He tried to speak, but another coughing fit came over him. Blood and spit stained the due hued pillows.

”Such a shame that it had to end like this, your highness.” Argento stated sharply. His hand rose to pull a small vial from his robes. A dark grin spreading across his features, as he watched the Sultan suffer at his feet. ”Do you like my creation? Marvelous is it not? It took me quite awhile to perfect it. Argento said softly, as if he was talking to a child. ”You should be honored to be the first one to try it.”

”Guards!” The Sultan tried to cry out, however his voice was not strong enough to carry out the door.

”They will not come for you. They will not save you.” Argento stated cruelly, as he tucked the vial into his robes once more. ”They have grown tired of your weak rule, dear Sultan. They desire a more powerful ruler to govern this Kingdom. Far too long have you neglected your duties in order to cater to your own self interests. It’s high time some one else take the throne.”

”You won’t get away with this,” The Sultan hissed, his body growing still as the last of his energy left him. It would not be long until the poison finally finished him. But for now he was trapped in his own body and mind, unable to call for help.

Argento released a soft chuckle. ”Oh but don’t you see? I already have.” He finished, as he stepped over the Sultan’s dying form to exit the chamber.

The door suddenly opened, revealing a single guard with a solemn face. ”It is done. See to it that his body is carried to the dungeons,” Argento ordered, before stepping out through the door. The poor old Sultan had no idea that he was resting within a bed of asps. It was only a matter of time before he was bitten.

Argento silently walked through the darkened streets of Coravan toward his guild’s base. It was high time he had returned and reported the news to the council. They would be most pleased to hear of their new promotion. While he had enjoyed the secrecy of the hideout, the head of the guild would need to move into the palace in order to govern the Kingdom of Coravan. His dream was finally becoming a reality. It wouldn’t be long until he had the continent under his control as well.

’All in a matter of time,’ he thought will a dark smile. Everything was going according to plan.

Jun let out a sigh of relief at official solving one problem. He had been on the verge of death one other time, but this time definitely came close. The reality that he could die any day never seem to faze him, though he wasn’t quite sure why. No one ever expected to just up and die; it was forever a mystery that could happen at any time. Some days, just the thought of being able to disappear gave him relief. In a way he had disappeared, being able to change his appearance, it was almost like starting over. All would have been well if he had the option to change his username, the name was stuck with him for good. Part of him did miss his old appearance and maybe one day if he got his hands on another potion he would use it.

Exiting the guild Jun stared up at the sky. Though the sun was still present, it was hidden behind the towering buildings around him. He would have to go search for a quick meal before finding an inn for the night. Coravan was not one of his favorite places. The kind of players that poisoned themselves in this town weren't people he liked associating with. Not to mention the last time he was in this town, more than one person sought out to kill him.

The sounded of flapping paper caught his attention. Walking up to the side of a building his eyes scanned through several papers. It was almost like a bulletin board, but with requests for mission or assassinations. Jun’s eyes narrowed as he stared at a faded paper nearly hidden under several others. Ripping the parchment off the wall, his own face reflecting back at him. It had been about two months, so he was shocked something like this was still lingering around. He didn’t know if people gave up, but it wasn’t like anyone bothered to come after his, even if there was a large reward. Most people had better things to do, but money was money. Crumpling up the parchment, Jun stuffed it into his jacket. He hadn’t seen many of these around, but the last thing he needed was more annoyances from someone that wanted to take him on.

Within a couple more minutes of walking, he happened upon a small side food stand. Pushing through the cloth, he took a seat on one of the stools. The one incredible thing he loved about these virtual games was that you could eat any food imaginable. Though, it was almost laughable that regardless of that he ended up normally eating simple things like rice or noodles. After ordering, Jun pulled up the messaging system and scrolled to Cyrus’s info. The message was short, only in asking he had finished and where to meet up. He suspected it would be a while before the broker got back to him and in that time Jun would gladly enjoy some dinner.

“Damn that broker, “Jun sighed under his breath. What was so important that he even needed the Madu quills for anyways? Grabbing a fork Jun dug into the plate of teriyaki chicken and rice. He would have to collect supplies tomorrow to head back out of Coravan and head to the broker’s location.

Rin listened as Faena answered her question, she nodded her head along as she walked along behind them her eyes scanning this way and that around them. She followed in Rowyn and Faena’s steps bringing up the back as they walked as quickly and quietly as they could. “I’ll probably join the two of you in the Inn, after that I will probably head to Aedus.” She said with a nod that no one could see as they walked through the forest. They walked quickly through the forest and eventually ended up in Kestrel, they had gotten lucky and made it through into the town just before the sun set behind the trees completely.

Rin grabbed a room for herself and de-stressed for the evening by herself, she liked these two players and she wouldn’t mind continuing to travel with them, but she wouldn’t shove her presence onto them. It was either that or she could ask to add them onto her friend list and then continue along on her way by herself. She finally fell asleep and rested throughout the night.
