                                              • "Auh!” came the small, insulted squeak of noise when the other girl had accused her of lying. The look on Noa’s face surely looked as though she were going to immediately reject the notion, but she said nothing immediately. It wasn’t as though some shred of morality had suddenly taken hold of the girl- she would’ve stuck with her lies on the principle of it all- but the other female had kept going on as fervently as she had been before. It bothered her that this girl didn’t know the simplest of things, yet she was telling her to do this and that. She couldn’t even speak in proper sentences! What was she? Retarded, or something? When Mali took a step towards her, Noa took a step back—or at least tried to. Her body was quickly met with the solidity of the door she had been standing at. She didn’t like this. Someone was trying to get her to come with them, whether she liked it or not. It was times like these that kids were supposed to scream out, “stranger danger,” wasn’t it? Why did it feel like she couldn’t muster up the ability to scream at all? Even the wary expression on her face wasn’t allowed to remain intact for long.

This girl… had threatened her with reinforcements. She had been quick to tell her that she would call for back-up, and not just any back-up. The girl standing in front of her was… w-was… This girl belonged to the same terrorist organization that had pointlessly blown up Asakusa Academy. Hearing that, Noa’s body was frozen solid. The color drained from her features. Her mouth hung agape and her eyes no longer seemed to register Mali as a living person in front of her. It was as though the world was suddenly spinning backwards and all she could hear was the loud pounding of her own beating heart in her ears. Her brain felt both lightning quick and sluggishly slow. She couldn’t… what was going on? What had she said? She— They— It was…

Her fault. The conclusion sank heavily in her stomach as the girl vaguely looked down at her open palm. The terrorists hadn’t just randomly blown up some Japanese school in the middle of Tokyo. They had done it in order to get something, and that something was… was her. She was the reason why so many children had died. She was the reason why Takumi could have been killed that day. She had nearly killed her brother. She… She didn’t know. How could she have known? She was normal. No… She… she wasn’t normal. But still!! There was no way that she could have known that it was because she was there that day. She didn't mean to have all those people killed! She hadn't... She had almost been killed too! She couldn't be at fault! She was the one they had been looking for though. If she hadn't existed... none of this would have happened. There'd be hundreds of kids going home to their parents in a few minutes, complaining about homework or laughing with their friends. But… it had happened once before. It had happened and if she resisted, they were threatening to do it again. They were threatening to kill a couple hundred people just because… … because… why did they want her? Were they a part of that group of people that had killed her mother and father so many years ago? Did they really want no survivors? What about Takumi?! Was he safe? Was he going to be kidnapped and/or killed as well?! What was this about a stone? She—She didn’t have anything like a—was it the one in her hand? She— That wasn’t hers! That girl had given it to her only moments ago! If they wanted that thing, then take it!

The sudden noise behind her had caused the teenaged girl to jump, snapping her attention around to see Mali and two other girls. They… … Who…? They looked familiar in some respect, but the paled girl’s mind was far too gone for a luxury such as pausing to remember their faces. These girls… They were also members of the terrorist organization— Was she outside? When did she get outside? The blue eyes couldn’t seem to focus on any one person, moving from Kyrinthis to Danni to Mali back to Kyrinthis, over and over again without halting. It wasn’t just her eyes that were unable to keep still either. It looked as though, half an inch at a time, the girl was backing away from the three women. It was hard to tell what was going on in that head, but it certainly looked as though the girl had a mind to run- if she didn’t faint first. She wanted to run, but… it was almost as though fear was keeping her there. The girl was freaked out- and that state was amongst the most genuine she had experienced in a very long time. All the while, the girl’s hand had never once released the stone in her hand. Her fingers had remained curled around the smooth stone, wrapped around the rock so tightly that it almost seemed as though it were the source of the rest of her body’s tremors.

She wanted to scream. She wanted to cry out. There were a million questions and demands that were rushing through her head as she regarded kidnappers, yet there was nothing coherent that came from those quivering lips. The girl could only sputter between quick, shallow gasps of air. Was she breathing between the gasps? She lacked the sense of mind to know. The tranquil forest might as well have been that jungle village. The chirping of birds and the sounds of the insects in the area may as well have been the crying civilians, the shouts of the angry rebels. She didn’t understand why- why those people would be coming after her after all these years. A normal mind should have known that such people were too poor with too few resources to be that dedicated. She truly was a nobody, yet… somehow… these people were here for her. To take her somewhere that she would surely be killed.

The girl’s knees finally buckled underneath her and she fell almost straight down, catching the ground with both hands and knees. She felt lightheaded. She felt indescribably warm. The patch of dirt between her hands shifted as a spot suddenly grew darker… and then another spot appeared, followed by another. "H-Hngh…” The girl stifled a sob as her hand futilely gripped at the dirt. She felt trapped. It was no use. These people were going to drag her away against her will and kill her. Did Takumi notice? Did her brother even notice that she was gone? That she was in trouble? She wanted her brother to fly to her side- to protect her from these terrible people. Her chest ached as the hot tears dripped off her face. She didn’t know… What were these people going to do to her? Now that they had her, were they still going to blow up the school? Had they killed her uncle? Had he quickly told them where she had gone? Had they gotten to her grandparents as well? Surely each and every person that had known her had sold her out as quickly as they could. It was only Takumi that wouldn’t. It was only Takumi that was capable of saving her in this sort of situation. She wanted him here. It wasn't safe here. She wanted him safe. She wanted... Takumi. Takumi! Like a protective charm, the girl kept mentally crying out for her brother.

Aniketos watched the carriage vanish with barely disguised anger. He had failed. He had failed the one person he wasn't allowed to fail. Pain shot through him, caused by both spell that bound him, and the unhealed gem within his chest. Grabbing his clothing over his heart, Aniketos fought to get himself under control. Sweat dotted his forward, and without a thought or a word or even a glance to those on the balcony with him, Aniketos let the shadows consume him. Stumbling out of a different shadow, in a different part of the castle, Aniketos sank to the floor, breathing heavily as pain blurred his vision. How much longer would he have to go through this? Would he eventually die, because of this? He didn't want to die. Wrong. He would die for Trey, wouldn't he? But that didn't mean wanted to- no, no. The humming was right. He would gladly die for Trey. But this pain was not for Trey - and it was... killing him? No, surely that danger has passed, for Ru-... what had he been thinking about?

Thoroughly confused, Aniketos stumbled to his feet as the pain dimmed. No matter. He needed to go report to King Trey.

                                                TIME - SKIP

Aniketos gazed at the portal rather warily. Blurred memories made him cautious of this place called Sector Thirteen. But Trey had given him the task of gathering all the Royals. By himself. Only way to do that was to step through the portal. So, shuddering slightly, Aniketos stepped forward, feeling as though he was being wrenched. Somehow he managed to land on his feet. Glancing around him, Aniketos had an odd feeling that something had changed. Obviously his surroundings had, but something inside him had also shifted. Had the humming... gotten... quieter...? Ah, no. That was just his imagination.

His first order of business was to go after the weakest and use them as leverage - or perhaps the one most liked? For the weakest, that would probably by his sister, or... what's her name? Well, the Princess of Uassine. She had always been a pacifist, hadn't she? But, no, he didn't know what her relationship with the others were. Dim memories suggested that she hadn't gotten along with Ca- the Prince of Westall. Kyrin would be the better choice. Or perhaps Prince Calcifer himself? He was well liked - wasn't he? Knowledge without memory told him he could handle him, but he'd be a handful. Better to not take chances and just go after Kyrin.

Closing his eyes, Aniketos sought the distant memory of familiarity. Once grasped he leaned back, falling into the shadows. Reappearing miles and miles away, he knew that he was somewhere close to his royal sister. While he could have just used her shadow, he wanted to scout the situation first. So, after he had grasped the feeling and location of her shadow he had chosen a shadow close by but distant enough to not risk being caught. Upon arriving he felt a prickle from his gem. It wasn't quite pain, but well... it was something. Small enough, however, that he ignored it, focusing on his mission instead.

It took but a few moments to find Kyrin and the person she was with. The Princess of Uassine - Danielle. The two were... fighting? Curious as to where this lead, and if perhaps it would help him, Aniketos stopped himself so he could hear but not be noticed. Most if it was meaningless to him, but it did let him know that Prince Calcifer had survived Riva's murder attempt. That was good. If he had died it would have been harder to get his gem, in a way. Less work, which meant he could carry out his mission faster. Now, the only question was, what were they doing here? Was there anyone else nearby? A faint familiarity tugged at him, two of them, but he couldn't quite- Noa. Where a second ago there had only been two figures, there was now four. Noa, the Princess of Aresi. His... his what? Surely just his target, like the rest of them. Surely.

Well, no other tugs of familiarity caught his attention, so what better time to make himself known than now? Stepping forward, Aniketos walked toward them with ease - and no attempt to hide himself. It was only when the mage was asking Princess Noa about her decision that he became obvious to see, however. Stepping into clear view, Aniketos offered a smile. "There is no need for her to decided, for all of you will be coming with me." A glance back at Princess Noa showed that she was having a... mental breakdown? Well, no surprise there. She had probably just been told some crazy things, after all. A stone held in her hand caught his eye, and for a second he froze, caught by the pure familiarity of it. Hadn't... he...?

The humming snapped at his attention, bringing it forcefully to Kyrin. His first target. "I do not want to force you to come with me - I'd much rather you - all of you - come along willingly." It'd be faster if they just agreed to it, but if not, well, he wouldn't hesitate to use force. Even if the thin thread of connection to his Hentor memories was wanting to know why he wasn't comforting Noa. The humming settled that matter by simply erasing the thought.

"Merchants!" For whatever the reason, the imagery had Riva caught up in a fit of giggles! What would they sell? Textiles? Fruits? Whatever their merchandise, it would be ridiculous at the hands of commanders and murderers. Even the silly image of a Cambion standing behind a stall, apron wrapped around his waist, had conjured itself up in the Naga's mind and another roll of light laughter flitted from her lips at the image. Styxx! Trying to sell baked goods! Pretty pastries and fluffy loaves! What utter madness and despairing nonsense! "Oh dear Gods! Please! The stars have it out for us!" Grasping for her side, Riva tried to muffle her snickers, a painful stitch forming as she gasped.

The past. Lingering on the subject only briefly, Riva knew too well she was a creature of the present and the future. Her past was painful, terrible and horrific. Not something to be savored or remembered whimsically with a smile. "Nooo?" The Naga challenged with a sly grin, ever too keen on pulling up new details despite the alcohol that ran rampant within her veins. "That woman.. Pretty haired, who was she? Someone from your past, I suppose?" Strange, how often they flitted in and out, fireflies and moths attracted to a strong flame. Rapping her knuckles against the bar's counter top, it served more than one purpose. A knock on wood. But the bartender also jerked over towards her direction, intent on renewing her shot with another round of toxic liquid.

"I miss 'im too," she mulled weakly, distracted on a particular blond-haired, one-eyed male. He had whispered I love you, but it felt more powerful than the motion of a planet orbiting a massive star. Because he had spared her; a useless gesture because she so desperately wanted to tear him to pieces. Love was such a strange feeling that had possessed the Naga in a terrible fashion. Shifting her attention back to reality, and the navy-haired male at her side, Riva offered a sudden cackle as she reached for her new shot. "Generous! You're playin' with fire, my love. Do you like the taste of poison?" The Naga did. She did so much she couldn't stand to be without a spice of danger in her life. Tipping her head back, she took another swallow and another explosion of arcing fire branched up through her stomach towards her brain.

It seemed a guarantee she would have some outlet for her frustrations, at the very least.

"You know... you know who else was there? That other b***h. She took my weapons!" It need not be said that this was the very root of Riva's despair. "My pretty emeici..." Offering a lamenting sigh at the word, she drifted into a somber, respectful silence for their loss as she stared down deep into the grain of the counter. "I'm useless now. That ********' mage... Who steals an assassin's weapons! She was prob'ly no more than sixteen! The wench!" Moving away from dreary and pitiful, Riva spat and hissed her words as she drastically switched into fury. "And yours! The teal-haired whore! What wretched spells did she cast on you?"

The abrupt deadened silence on the other end of the line had Calcifer lowering his phone to stare at it inquisitively. Had the call dropped? Just about to re-dial, a force slammed into him, and suddenly it was all blond hair and green eyes and a giant smile taking up all of Cal's vision. He had tossed his own arms around Vale long before his mind caught up and registered the action, sudden and ecstatic surprised laughter escaping him, "Vale!" A fleeting hug, of course; though Calcifer could have stand to let it linger another several moments. Goddamn had he missed his best friend! And although only a measly week of life-threatening, harrowing acts of heroism had passed for Calcifer, it still felt like it had just been way too long. What had Vale been doing anyway? The sent texts had told a pretty decent story, where Vale had gone to visit Mike and kept him and Swaine some company. But being in Italy.. meant something else entirely.

Feeling a touch against his side, Calcifer had leaned back to throw a glance down towards where Vale laid his hand. The spot once had a gaping hole in the fabric; in fact, it was still heavily stained and crisp with dried blood that, if not for the shirt being black already, may have caused some alarm. Kyrinthis had politely sewn it up for him. Truth be told, Calcifer was dying to get some newer clothes to change into. It was probably on their to-do list. Because like several others, Cal flat out refused to wear the silly medieval garb Hentor had. C'mon, who wears flowy, billowing sleeved sissy clothes? Thespians! And Calcifer sure as hell wasn't any thespian.

"Yeah!" His voice held a pitch too excited for what had occurred, and oddly enough, he sported a smile with it. "Got stabbed. Right here." Patting a hand over where Vale's already rested, Calcifer still seemed a bit too pleasant for the topic at hand. That fuzzy feel. Out of it. Curling his fingers around the other male's palm, Cal had pulled the hand away from his side, offering a quick squeeze accompanied with the twinge of a more awkward smile. "How'd you know..?" It should have been obvious by now, but the epiphany kept evading him another moment longer. Prince of Fire. Princess of Water. Prince of Darkness. Princess of Light. Princess of Wind. Prince of Earth. Drawling a little longer in the thought process, Calcifer gave a snap of his fingers as he called his realization out, "Metal! Metal. You've got metal." Good job, you nailed it.

It all made a lot more sense. Stabbed with metal. Pierced with metal. Of course Vale knew, it seemed so obvious now. Then again, Cal from a week ago would have scoffed at such thoughts. None of this really made sense. It was strange, foreign, and eerie-- and Cal was sure he would never get used to this. Having another life. Having powers! Other worlds, everything so supernatural.

Sending an amber gaze back towards Vale, Calcifer was a bit taken aback to find his friend wearing some distracted expression. Spaced out on them. He had that watery glaze to his eyes, and his face portrayed every thought that flickered in and out of his mind. It was so apparent that Vale had missed them, that the explosion at school had him convinced they had all passed in an untimely manner, that at one point he probably even considered himself absolutely alone. Coming back again, Vale had reached up to ruffle his fingers through red hair, absolutely taking advantage of Cal's lack of hair product. Huffing, "Well.. At least you didn't punch me.." Calcifer split into a sheepish smirk, knocking his gaze off and away towards the lively crowd flowing around them.

Speaking of finding the place and GPS systems. "Will pretty much led the way." Which is weird because.. He's.. blind...? Snapping a confused glance towards William, Calcifer gawked a long moment. No blind man stick. No seeing eye dog. How had Will so effortlessly walked the streets, at the front of the pack no less? Turning sharp on his heels, the red head stalked his way over, coming to a halt in front of the other male. Twisting his head side to side, Calcifer peered sharply into the sunglasses, eyes squinted as if narrowing would allow him to see past the darkened shades. "Are you doin' like that blind chick in Avatar?" You know the one. With the earth stuff and vibrations and things. First he waved his hand rapidly in front of the brunet's face, then.. just about to pluck the glasses away entirely, Calcifer halted.

"Hrm? Oh!" Straightening up and twisting to glance back towards Vale, Calcifer shrugged his shoulders as he tried to think of the best way to talk about this. Maybe Psykhe or Felicja would be better at explaining this. "Those dreams? There's like a whole other world that we're from annnd.." ********. How did she say? "There's.. magic? And.. uhhh, we're royalty? And there's some dude ********' s**t up that we gotta stop. s**t is messed up, man. I dunno, destiny and stuff." Perfect. Spot on. Calcifer couldn't be any more satisfied.

tab With Ashton's presence in the room, the room felt smaller, and slightly brighter. Eleanora had spent her entire night in here alone and the whole time if felt so big and lonely, even with the company of her paper dolls. But those were just soulless creations that she had made herself. Even Elsa, her beloved treasure was just a doll, and not truly full company. The girl though, even knowing that there was this new warming presence in her room had not directly acknowledged the male. Instead she continued to keep her head tucked tightly into her knees. Not even moving when she heard the rustling of paper on her desk, from both her puppet minions and from the removal of a book.

tab There was a long and uneasy silence before Ashton spoke once more to the girl, this time speaking of the spell that she had been trying so hard that past week to learn and get correct. The girl loosened the grip on her arms slightly, but noticeable and slowly raised her head so that only her eyes were showing over her knees. Though her bangs still draped over them, her eyes were very empty. Around them her skin was red and puffy from the crying she had been doing prior. She had spent so long staring down at her knees at the darkness that as she tried to look towards the male in the already dark room, it had taken her eyes a moment to adjust.

tab Before Eleanora gave her response to the male, which she wanted to say yes, but something was tugging at that answer, wanting her to change it and tell him to leave and let the girl wallow her in own self pity. But before she could even think to speak, Ashton spoke once more. Now talking about how if she learned this spell that Mikky would be happier with her. It would make the girl happy to see him happy, and everyone else for that matter. The girl did like the idea of making everyone happy and seeing there faces when she finally performs the spell. Bringing her head up all the way, she gave a little sniffle and nodded at Ashton, her face still staying mutt.

tab Listening to his next string of words followed by him placing the book back down on the desk with the rest of her books, and research papers on the challenging spell, Eleanora finally spoke, answering the male. "I have." Her voice was quiet and a little raspy, with a slight shake to it. "It's a little harder than I thought it would be." She sniffled then looked towards the wolf in the cage. This wolf was probably the seventh one that she'd caught to use for this spell. She hoped to only use one, but unfortunately she'd lost her grasp on a few of the souls and they wandered away from there original host, leaving the animal for dead.

tab On her bed, Elsa had now emerged from under the pillow. She was feeding off Eleanora's new found curiosity about finally completing the spell. Although Eleanora would not show it right now, Elsa would. Elsa was always very good at showing the girls true emotions at the time. Though the small cat doll was still slightly hesitate to come down off the bed, and was walking in a slight shameful manner on all fours, instead of it's usual two. Watching Ashton, and then looking to Eleanora, Elsa slide off the side of the bed and slowly made her way to Eleanora and gave the girl a small head butt on the shins.

tab Looking down to the small doll Eleanora took in what Ashton was saying, and she couldn't help but crack a small smile. All her life she was told to hide her magic, and not use it. That her powers were something out of her grasp and something that would some day over. It had happened already a couple of times, and it scared her, which was why she had stayed hold up in her room. But here Ashton was, telling her that she was capable of controlling her magic, and that she shouldn't be held down by fear. The girl gave another sniffle and slowly got to he feet, with Elsa getting to her hind legs, and punching at the air with her hands.

tab "I've been able to get the soul out, but I hesitate before allowing it to enter into Elsa." She explained while letting the little cat doll climb up onto her shoulder. Eleanora looked at the little doll, some light starting to come back to her eyes. Giving another short sniffle, Eleanora used a finger to scratch the top of Elsa's head. "Elsa is pretty much all I have left from a better time. I hesitate cause I'm worried she'll change with the influence of a feral animals spirit." The small smile that was on her features moments ago, faded away as she considered the thought. Looking up to Ashton, she asked quietly, "can you really help me with this spell?"

But you’re fine now right?” He asked. A strained tone had seeped into his voice, unsure of whether he could believe the male or not. Cal seemed too happy as he spoke of his injury, and it struck Vale as something more than strange. Feeling the redhead squeeze his hand offered a little solace to his worry and he offered his friend a fleeting smile. He supposed he might have been over thinking it just a bit…

                                                                        Metal! Metal. You’ve got metal.”

How’d you know?” Now it was Vale’s turn to be surprised. Damn, there really was something crazy going on wasn’t there? How else was he supposed to explain this stuff? Drawing back from the redhead, emerald hues wandered over his friend. “You got thinner…” Well, he had probably gained some muscle, but he was definitely a little worse for wear. Going silent again as Cal spoke, he nodded. As if he would actually do that.

Bringing his attention over to Feli and then towards Psykhe as Cal went to talk to Will, he grinned, “I’m glad you guys are back…” About to say more, Vale paused as the conversation was directed back towards him, with an odd turn of topics. “Dreams…?” The ones he had about being royalty and with Cal… oh…! Reddening slightly, he listened attentively, nodding and raising a brow at the mention of ‘some dude ********’ s**t up’. “What? Who?” Everything was so fuzzy, hell, who ever remembered their dreams in pristine detail anyways? Certainly not him. In fact, most of the time, he was left with a serene if not a longing feeling when he awoke.

Before Cal had a chance to answer Vale’s questions, a keening reached his ears and Vale’s attention darted towards the source. Staring into the barrel of a gun not twenty meters away, he only had time to open his mouth before it was fired. Humanly impossibly to perceive or react, he flinched away, expecting to feel cold metal rend through his flesh. But instead, he heard the sound of a body falling beside him. A tourist. A bystander.

                                                                        …!

Within seconds the chatter had risen to a deafening cacophony. Chaos and screams, with people scrambling to get away. Stunned, Vale found himself frozen in place.

                                                                        I know his face.

He was the one Gian and Tacito were with that day… Cold sweat beaded down his neck, and icy claws griped his throat.

                                                                        He’s one of them.

Soon, the turmoil inside his mind reflected what was transpiring in the square. Buzzing and the hammering of his heart filled his ears, drowning out reason. A while ago, he asked himself what he’d do if it came to this, and back then, the answer had been so easy.

                                                                        Kill them.

Thoughts of revenge had brewed in his soul, but now, now he wasn’t even able to move. He was afraid. Afraid of killing, afraid of death… Vale knew just how much of a coward he was…

Vale!” A jerk on his arm, and soon the blond was running, running blindly through the crowd, each step bringing him away from fear. Red filled his vision, not anger or blood, but a radiant crimson that burned brightly. “…Cal…” Blurred vision, blotched out scenery, “H-he… th…ey…” The words wouldn’t come no matter how hard he tried to tell his friend, as though the pain had become a gag, rendering him silent as he slowly cracked.

×× THRW YOUR FISTS UP COME ON WITH ME

"Never better, Kay patched me up just fine." Calcifer decidedly left out the tidbit that Kyrinthis possessed the element of light, and that subsequently meant she could bring people back from the very edge of death. In a strange and candid way, he had wished the mages had actually been kind in that regard: slow dips and hints about the world to come. Splash your feet a bit before taking the whole dive. That dunk of information had been so overwhelming, so really.. Calcifer was glad it was just him talking it through with Vale, even if the whole ordeal and his explanation was messy and scattered.

How'd you know? "Well..." Rubbing the back of his head gingerly, Calcifer shot the blond a rueful glance before forcefully continuing. "We've all got some kinda element." Striking his thumb to his chest, he picked up his tones a notch, boastful and proud, "I got fire!" It was fitting, though the male had never taken notice of just how fitting it was until this moment. Ignore the red hair, but out of every friend caught up in this fantastical oddity of a situation, Calcifer couldn't imagine any other wielding his element. His personality fit in every way. Just as Felicja's matched hers, and William's his, and even little Kay. Danielle was.. well, if Calcifer imagined raging rapids and tumultuous, deadly undercurrents, then he could see the similarities. Absolutely. The only two he was less sure about was Aniketos, whom had shown himself to be a masterful controller of shadows? Ani had never really struck the male as dark.. And as for Vale, well--

Glancing up, Calcifer grimaced and shot his gaze down to himself. "Wha? Think so?" Eating wasn't really on the top of his things to do these days. There were always more pressing matters, like growing stronger, saving others, dealing with lunatics with weapons.. Who really had the time to sit down and enjoy a nice home-cooked meal anymore?

"Ohhh.. Uhhhh.. I don't remember his name, but--" There wasn't a noise. In fact, there wasn't anything; but Vale shifted his attention and abruptly flinched. In the next moment, a heavy thump! sounded beside them, where someone had fallen. The crowd that formed was dull, calm at first, until the dark red pooling around the motionless slump incited a panic. There was a shout, and though Calcifer didn't understand Italian, he was certain it was them pointing out the obvious. Someone had been shot.

All hell broke loose, with the horde scattering in differing directions to escape the square and (hopefully) the gunman within it. With Cal in the same mentality, jeezusweneedtogetoutofhere, he stepped in one direction only to halt when he noticed the blond stuck as a statuette. Everything sweeping away, and wild, and cries and terror, Calcifer shouted his friend's name before snagging onto an arm. Yanks and pulls, navigation through an agitated sea of people, the others in his party had long since vanished from his vision as Calcifer headed towards the nearest back street created by buildings.

Hidden behind the brick face of a wall, it was hardly any quieter, but at least they would comfortablely out of the way of everyone. Instinctively peeking, Calcifer leaned around the corner to hunt through the faces he could see, looking for anyone he could recognize— not that he knew how to spot a murderous gunner, but he hoped to spot his friends. No one though, just the blurs, expressions of hysteria. Turning back towards Vale, it was apparent his friend was in a bad state, "You alright?" Skimming touches, hunting about for signs of injury, or that dastardly crimson color Calcifer had come to accept and resent. "Hey, hey-- you're good, we're good. Keep it together for me, okay?" This was just a normal, dangerous day for Calcifer. What else was new? But Vale.. His friend had been through tough times, and easy times, and rough times because Cal liked to fight-- but gunshots and near-death was an entirely new experience. Vale, who had always looked in on death from one side, would have his turn being beneath the cross-hairs.

"Listen," Calcifer purposefully paused, lifting his hands to grasp the sides of Vale's face, calloused fingers across the contours of a jaw. "This is it. Almost every day in Hentor is just like this. Where.. where somebody is out there hurtin' somebody and you wonder if you're gonna even see tomorrow." This felt familiar. Not the dialogue exactly, but.. "I wanna keep everybody safe, and it's really ********' scary." Tipped forward just a little, their gazes were even, with auric gold piercing right through a pair of emerald. Intensity and cohesion seemed to be just a little bit off beneath the fog, and briefly, Calcifer struggled. "I guess this is, like, our destinies though and we can't run away--.. Vale, I just wanted to go home that one day, when I texted you, and just hangout like we used to. I don't think we're gonna be able to, but I guess.. I guess it'll be together." A little more breathless than he had started, Calcifer closed what little gap had been between them, and their lips melded together into what would become a bruising kiss.

Where are we going? Even if he asked, he wouldn’t really care. Away. That’s all that mattered. Clutching onto Cal as though the male were his lifeline, the pair continued to run, as though in time, even the world and all its troubles would be left behind. Such romanticism… even Vale wasn’t that optimistic. Sooner or later, they’d have to stop, and the blurring world of sounds and colours would come rushing back to swallow them up. Another tug and they suddenly halted in their escape. Harsh pants, gulps of air… where had they ended up?

Brick and shade… hidden behind a building, Vale hung back as Cal peeked around, whether to look for their friends or for the gunner, he didn’t know. While the redhead did that, the blond sunk into regret. Why did I freeze up… It wasn’t a question, because he knew full well why. Scared of taking another’s life even though they had no qualms about it. It wasn’t easy, it never would be… but in this case, even with all the justifications and all the anger and anguish, why was he still holding back? Light touches against his body brought Vale’s attention back to concerned amber. Yeah… The word lodged itself in his throat, adding to the preexisting lump there.

So instead, he offered a small nod, taking solace in the voice that had eased his nightmares on so many occasions. Keep it together… How was he supposed to do that when he had already fallen apart? Calcifer didn’t know… didn't quite understand, and even though Vale was trying, he was too overwhelmed to coherently speak. Beyond it all, it struck him as surprising how calm Cal was. Death… how could anyone possibly be okay after that? Cal had never seen a man die… had he? Studying auric gold, what he found there was startling. Weary and sharp… how could he not have noticed the change in the male’s eyes? They held more sorrow in them, more darkness too. Just what have you seen…

Bringing his focus back to the words being spoken and the touch against his face, Vale blinked in confusion. Hentor? Where was that? It struck him as familiar, but he couldn’t remember… A slow sense of realization began to trickle in afterwards, accompanied by horror. Cal was… talking from experience wasn’t he? “You… You’ve really suffered haven’t you… Not just his friend, but all the others too. And I wasn’t there to help. Perhaps it was wishful thinking on his part, believing that if he had been there, something might have been different… Even if it hadn’t, at least they could have braved it together. “Then I’ll help.” He murmured. I’ll keep you safe… Cal was… unconditionally kind, wasn’t he? And if he was afraid, Vale promised he’d do anything and everything to erase that fear.

Quiet words that spoke legions, bringing a shy smile to Vale’s lips. Was it okay to take this as Calcifer’s answer? Every fiber of him screamed that he could, and hell, Cal was one hundred percent sober this time right? Taken together with his words… How could he think otherwise? “Yeah…” Destiny was a strange thing, pulling and pushing, as though nothing each individual did was outside of its calculations. What a somber thought that was.

What followed was the farthest thing from that, however, and within seconds, washed away the darker emotions. Warm breath tickled him as Calcifer tipped forwards, sealing Vale’s lips with his own. Jezus, now wasn’t the time for this, not with a killer coming after them… But at the moment, he was too elated to care. Dizzying, that’s what it was. Eagerly pushing back, hands found purchase on the male’s shirt, clenching and relaxing before he made his way upwards and finally clasping behind Cal’s neck. Dancing tingles raced across his skin, snapping upwards, slamming into his skull, and finally flourishing into fireworks of endorphins within him. Sighing softly into the kiss, Vale began to ask for more. Tracing the tip of his tongue along the male’s lower lip, he waited for permission before slipping into the other’s mouth, and what followed was a familiar taste of tobacco filled his senses, along with an addicting heat that stirred an insatiable craving.

The hammering of his heart matched the raucous noise of footfalls on cobblestone, and it was hard to focus on the crescendo of shouts when he had his best friend captured against him. It was really selfish, knowing just several meters away someone lay bleeding out on the ground-- a mother was going to miss him, maybe a wife or a daughter too --and Calcifer persistently pushed a little harder. It wasn't always necessarily Death that liked to stalk this group, but perhaps Eris. She certainly seemed to have it out for them. And all the more frightening, Cal almost had no emotive response to any of this, except towards the blond he had pressed up against the brick wall. Life lines were snipped apart on a daily basis, potential best friends gone forever, but in Calcifer's mind: None of them were going to matter in the grand scheme of things. Call him callous, ruthless, or cold, but all that really seemed to matter in his Fate were the ones he had been so closely interwoven with. The rest of those red strings could fray to nothingness.

There would be the wail of sirens soon too. Calcifer parted his lips, tentatively flicked his tongue and threaded his fingers more tightly into Vale's hair. Only a week ago had the red head come to a more solid decision to a question posed to him earlier. It didn't go the way Cal had planned, of course. He wanted to drop Vale a line, regardless of the long distance charges from Japan to Italy; the power of his answer would have been better heard then simply read. But the foundations of the school shook, the floor fell out from under him, and certain everything was coming to an end in the next few moments, Calcifer managed just one word in text. And everything felt a little more unfair again: Why did their lives have to be taken from them? They all had something, normalcy, twisting ties of friends, family, and relationships, jobs and hobbies. Hentor would be in the way of that forever now.

Not that it mattered. None of that did. Because in the same moment that all of these thoughts flickered across the synapses of his brain, Calcifer also realized he would be selfish in every aspect. Selfishly protective, selfishly obsessive, selfishly compassionate. It would destroy him, of course; the terrible balance of extremes. But if it kept everyone well enough so that, in the very end of this adventure, Calcifer wouldn't be enduring alone, then it was all worthwhile. With Vale at his side though.. How many times had they thrown fists for one another? Bled for the other? Shed tears? An imaginary shift in weight could be felt here, a little away from Cal's shoulders; because Vale would absolutely bear his burdens. Both of them frequently did this for one another, easing away pain through sharing.

And to think that a little over a week ago Calcifer was terrified of his friend! He almost giggled, wild with the surge of emotion. But steadfast, Calcifer huffed through his nose, head tilted towards one side as he passed his tongue in another swirl before parting. As the male drew in a sharp breath, filling up lungs that burned, he tipped his forehead against the blond's and muttered the first phrase that hit him, "I'm sorry." Although, the particular reason why he would apologize entirely eluded him. For finding Vale, maybe? Meeting in this fashion? Giving his answer in this manner? For everything to come in the following days? Any, or even all of this, would absolutely suffice. And above it all, it suddenly felt a bit cruel for Calcifer to offer such a powerful resolution to a troubling doubt that had plagued Vale for the longest time (all of ten days?) and to curtail it so suddenly.

In an act of mercy, Calcifer offered a gesture far more tender than his first. A lighter peck planted on Vale's lips, as if to ask for forgiveness for his more brutal treatment of them. Calcifer left himself there, gently pressed before he withdrew a single hand. His fingers twined around the chain drawn over his neck, and a short tug unlocked the clasp, freeing it from him. The pendent hanging at the bottom was elegantly sculpted metal around a labradorite gem, caging it beautifully. The memories within this trinket had since been unlocked by the the Prince of Westall, graced him with a fleeting smile as he murmured against Vale's mouth, "You need to have this again." Drawing away with more finality, Calcifer dropped his gaze as he reached for the other male's hand. Spreading open his palm, Cal gingerly set the necklace onto his skin, gold gaze snapping back up to emerald.

  • Of course it was harder than she thought. Most spells were and it was what made success even better once the spell was mastered. But to even make any more progress on the soul transferring than she already had, she would have to get up off the ground, stop wallowing in self-pity, and move on. Channel her sadness into something else. A useful emotion that would help her instead of hinder her any further. If Elsa's reappearance was anything to go from, he had said something right to get both of them interested in trying the spell again. Though it wasn't quite the excitement that he had wanted to see, it was better than what he had been getting since he arrived in her rom.

Listening to what she went on to say, Styxx hummed thoughtfully as he thought over his words before he said them. Unless he was trying to get something from the person he was speaking to, tact wasn't something he was known for. It was better to be direct in speaking and more subtle in attacking. At least that was his view on the world. "Aren't you giving her the wolf's soul to change her? You want her to be stronger, correct? Then you're gong to have to take a risk and trust that your connection with Elsa will be stronger than whatever pull the animal's soul has on her." He wasn't a mage, he could be completely wrong about this, but a disembodied soul will do what it is ordered to do. The one who ripped it from it's vessel will have to be strong enough to control it. "You can control your puppets with ease, dozens of them at a time. You can control the soul and what it does to Elsa. Or you can continue to doubt your strength and what you can do and continue to fail the spell. You're better than that, Eleanora."

He may not have openly expressed such faith in the young girl's abilities, usually leaving that to Obelia, Lucy, or Remus, right now none of them were here, and he was not going to see Eleanora wallow in self-pity over something she didn't have the power to control. She could control the soul and she would be able to control Elsa even after the transfer was done. She just had to have some faith in herself and her abilities. "I will do what I can to help you. While I haven't done the spell you're about to attempt, I've done something similar on an almost nightly basis." He smiled at the thought. While they had some time to themselves, he would rather enjoy going out to find someone to ravish. Especially after dealing with Eleanora. After the botched trap and displaying such a sickening amount of open kindness to the girl maybe he would find Riva and some other woman to enjoy. Or if Riva was already in bed with someone else, he could work with that too. As long as she didn't mind if he killed their playmate when it was done.

"No matter what happens, Elsa is still part of you. Your energy still flows through her. And just like you, I'm sure she remembers all those good times you had. It may take some time for you to reach her after the soul transfer or it may be instant. That depends on you and unfortunately, I don't believe I'll be much help to you with that." He shrugged then motioned to the cage holding the wolf in the cage. "You've faced greater challenges than this before." And he'd be there to help her if she needed it. For what could possibly be the first and only time he was ever going to make this offer to any one of the Riders. As an afterthought struck him, his lips twitched up into a sardonic smile. He just hoped this didn't get around to any of the riders at some future date. He would be horrified if word of this somehow got back to Remus. Just imagining what would happen next... the blonde swordsman could probably scare off just about any demon with his optimism.

Beneath her arm she could feel Danni struggle, but Kyrin barely cared. A small voice in her mind urged her to press further while her dark blue gaze glared into the panicked one of Danni’s. She was so angry with this girl. This heartless woman was supposed to be someone others looked up to. Calcifer was first on her list to leave for dead because of who he was and the history between them. Who would be next? Felicja? William? What was it now, one wrong move that Danni didn’t agree with and she will decide not to heal an injury next time it occurred? Did Kyrin now fall in that group because she didn’t agree with Danni’s beliefs? If Kyrin ended up hurt to the point that the injury would be fatal who would save her then? No one. The thought was frightening, but she was already dying anyway. The impact Kyrin thought it would have on her fell short. Instead she found herself worrying for the others. For Felicja who was falling in love. William who had a sarcastic wit that could make anyone smile. Calcifer and his tough guy attitude. Anik and his… Anik who everyone loved. Add into that mix Noa and Vale. While Kyrin did not know much about Noa, Vale was her sparring partner and the only person that bothered to go out of his way to get Kyrin to talk about herself once in a while. Despite not being on familiar terms with all of them like she was with Vale, Kyrin thought about the pain and grief others would suffer if they died. If William died… Felicja would be crushed and Kyrin suspected the same was true if things were reversed. If Anik died, Calcifer would lose it. They were best friends after all. The ramifications of what could happen should a friend lose another was something Kyrin hoped none of them would have to go through. What if a few of them were injured in another explosion including Kyrin; who would heal them then? Kyrin’s fist tightened in Danni’s shirt. Pure rage blinded her. Danni spoke about Calcifers life as if it shouldn’t be as valued as everyone elses. It was disgusting and Kyrin believed no one would be saved if they had to rely on Danni. She was selfish and inconsiderate towards the plight of others. Close minded and set on the ways of Earth. People needed help and she would leave them under the cruel rule of another. There were not words that could describe the anger Kyrin felt when these thoughts continued to roll through her mind.

A sharp knee to her stomach had her grunting and her arm loosening from Danni’s throat. And a sharp reality interjected into her consciousness. There was a moment of panic and her gaze, but upon Danni’s words it was overcome with irritation. “They didn’t do this Danni. We did this on our own. You did this when you didn’t help a friend and I did this when I tried to interject a harsh reality into your thick skull.” A soft growl emitted from her throat when the staff pushed her back away from Danni, but she didn’t fight it. Danni was too wrapped up in her own world to realize what was happening around them. Anik was still brainwashed and with how focused everyone was with getting their two missing members Kyrin wondered if any of them remembered that he was still alive. True Kyrin wasn’t on particularly good terms with him, but he was still in her thoughts. Was he in the others? Patiently Kyrin watched Danni and shrugged. “For yourself you will fight, but you won’t fight for anyone else?” Kyrin asked softly.

Beyond Danni Kyrin noticed the arrival of Mali and another female. There was a flicker of a memory there, but before it could fully evolve Kyrin’s attention was once more back on Danni. A flick of her wrist and the shield was fading while the apology was barely recognized for what it was. Kyrin did not want to hear an apology. She wanted to hear that Danni understood… that she cared because she could and something within her gut told her that once upon a time Danni had cared alot. “Leave Danni. Do what you want and live with the guilt if you feel any.” Noa took that moment to collapse and Kyrin’s attention was once more diverted as Danni moved. Both girls were crying; faced with emotional crisis’. Kyrin simply stared without a tear in her own gaze. Even if she had wanted to cry she wouldn’t; she hated crying in front of others. Besides she had no reason too. Her gaze flickered between the three other females. Part of was wondering if there was just too much estrogen in the clearing; emotions were never something dealt with… not her own and not others. However, a memory told her that a long time ago she had been good at it. The glare in her eyes faded to a neutral gaze as she found herself examining the trembling girl kneeling in the grass. ‘Sister….’ The word echoed in her mind so suddenly it mentally shook Kyrin to the core. Kyrin had never had a sister before and the girl before her was no more her sister than that tree over there was. No that was a lie… Kyrin hadn’t had anyone before. Not really if in the end they left her. In this life she was alone and part of her was sympathetic to the tears trailing down Noa’s face, but she also took into understanding what would happen if any of them had refused. Kyrin believed things would have been different if there was no one else after them, but because there is… their choice in the matter was limited.

But Noa had family here. No, they all had family here. No, these families were a lie; a means to an end when Rudolph sent all of them through the portal. ‘Perhaps I should consider myself lucky. I don’t have a family,’ Kyrin though morosely unaware of the pain fading within her chest. She had taken a few steps towards Mali and Noa when a prickling along the back of her neck stopped her. This was not an instinct she had held on Earth, but it was one she was slowly acquiring. It was something her Hentor self felt… something that she drew from within her gut; a gut instinct that something wasn’t quite right.

A sharp twist to her left had her stormy blue gaze focusing upon the languid form of someone her heart called brother, but her mind proclaimed enemy. His words sent off alarms in her mind, but her gaze focused on the way he hesitated. He was looking at Noa. No he was looking at something in her hands. Kyrin’s gaze followed his momentarily wondering what the significance of the stone was. When his gaze once again snapped back to attention focusing on her of all people, Kyrin scowled having resisted the urge to jump with how quickly his attention had been moved from one thing to the other. “No one is coming with you,” Kyrin murmured softly. His gaze was still focused upon her and a feeling of dread washed over her. Was she really about to do what she was going to do? Alone? She was always alone though. What difference did that make? At least before this she had had guidance from Psykhe and Mali regarding her abilities, but in this she felt she had to let that hand go; figuratively speaking.

Finding that same warm feeling deep within her chest Kyrin grasped at the trembling chords tugging upon them gently. Drawing them from deep inside of her she willed them to the surface finding that the appearance of the shield this time around came easier than the first. A constriction in her chest warned her not to overdo it, but she needed to keep Anik from the others. True Danni wasn’t on her ‘I love you’ list, but that didn’t mean Kyrin wanted to see her get hurt. The shield moved between Kyrin and Anik and the other three girls separating the group of five into two groups. On one side Kyrin force Danni with Mali and Noa while she turned to face Anik. “I think you and I have unfinished business brother,” Kyrin murmured softly lifting her right hand where a small orb of light grew to the size of a baseball. Power trickled through her veins. It was an invigorating feeling, but she needed to be wary. Psy and Mali had already warned her about it. Without warning she launched the light towards Anik. When it had reached the midway point between the two parties it burst into a fit of flares aimed for his cocky form. On her left pinky finger the ring given to her by Mali weighed heavily and she wondered if she really was going to do this. A strong feeling rushed through her; she had to keep the others safe. Noa needed to be given time to understand the situation and if Kyrin could give her that time she would at least try to do so. Following up her initially attack Kyrin withdrew the hakais from her waist where they had been wrapped around her slim form in a comforting manner. Swinging them on her finger she wrapped the ribbon around her wrists deftly and launched the metal ring in a wide arc to come in from Anik’s right. He needed to be focused on her if this was going to work.

  • No, Kyrin was wrong. This wasn't who she was. Something had happened to her between the time she'd been taken from her home and now. Something… something she couldn't put a finger on. And the fault had to lie with Mali and Psykhe. The thoughts and memories were just dreams, they weren't real. If Rudolph could reach through dimensions to send them here as infants, then what's to say that his story was a lie and he hadn't reached through the dimensions to mess with their thoughts and feelings. It was frightening, and she was shaking, the weapon still in her hand, her eyes riveted upon the shaft, her knuckles white. She hated how familiar this felt. Why would holding a weapon like this ever be familiar to her? She wasn't a fighter. This wasn't her fight.

Mali's question snapped Danielle out of it and she dropped the bladed staff, taking a step back, tears threatening to spill. She was shaking her head and trembling, thinking of how close she had come to actually fighting Kyrinthis. She didn't even have any issues with Kyrin. Even if the girl had tried to kill her. She didn't want to hurt her. "I - I'm sorry!" She stuttered, her tears falling freely. The memories and the strange mix of feelings were overwhelming, she wasn't thinking straight. She should have better control. Taking deep breaths, Danni tried to control her emotions the way Rai taught her. She was a mess. Ever since seeing Calcifer get injured and Psykhe bring him back to life she had been a mess. It wasn't meant to be. He should have died, she should be back home, she shouldn't have ever had to pick up a weapon or threaten Kyrinthis with one. It was wrong. She was being a horrible person and the Universe would surely make her pay for what she had just done. There hadn't even been a reason to fight. There was never a reason to fight.

Behind her, someone else seemed to be having just about as rough a time with everything as she was. Danielle felt duty bound to help her. But she also had to apologize to Kyrinthis… Even if Kyrin hated her, she had to apologize for trying to fight her. Taking a deep breath, she faced Kyrin and bowed. "I'm really sorry for what I just did. I hope you can forgive me, Kyrinthis." The apology hardly seemed to be acknowledged, but it did make her felt better, ease her guilt a little. If Kyrinthis was going to walk around with a grudge, then she couldn't stop her. And now that the shield was down and she was being told to leave, that was exactly what she was going to do! After a moment's hesitation, she picked up the weapon, snapping it into its two smaller component pieces. Didn't look any less deadly, but she couldn't just leave it here; she'd turn it in to the police. Tell them she found it in the forest somewhere.

Danielle took a step closer to Noa, wanting to comfort her and get her out of here before Mali or Kyrin did something to convince the girl to leave with them. Instead another voice stopped her. A familiar voice, but one that was also quite unfamiliar. The dreams. Another voice from the dreams. Turning, she noticed Anik standing there. Another person she had no relation with outside of those dreams she wished she could get rid of. He started to give them orders, telling them to join him. Danielle looked thoughtful. Mali and Kyrinthis didn't want anything to do with her so… wouldn't it be better if she pretended to go along with Anik and then make her escape? He could get her out of this mess at least for a little while. And Trey couldn't be that bad if Anik was here on his own and doing this without even trying to fight them. It was just the Riders who were the dangerous ones…

Instead, Kyrin decided to speak for them and separate them from the fight that was about to start. More fighting… she thought sadly. Is that all this was going to come down to? Had Mali not returned with Noa, Danielle would have used this distraction to get away. Now there was someone else she had to take with her. Her feet carried her to the other girl she hardly knew where she lowered herself to the ground in front of her and hesitantly reached out to her. "I know we're not friends or anything, but we need to go!" Danni forced a smile and looked over her shoulder at Mali, sending her an angry glare. How could she even get someone else involved in this? It wasn't right. Shaking her head, she looked to Noa again. She really was cute... "You don't want to stay with them. They're bad people." It hurt a little to say this about Saint Kyrinthis and Mali, but she had to get Noa out of here!

Nothing was going as it should.

Noa was crumpled on the ground, a complete mess as she sobbed. Okay, so that part was probably her fault. Mali could have eased into it better, explained it more carefully - and maybe not teleported her out here so quickly. Why did Psykhe get the easy group? What's-his-name was known by the others, so he would listen better, but none of them really knew Noa. There was no use complaining - though she would latter when it was just her and Blue - so she simply had to act. But what was the best course of action? Dragging her gaze to Short, Mali knew that right now, she was the only one who would willingly work with her.

Before any decision could be made, however, their party was joined by one more. Instantly on the defensive, Mali darted her gaze around, wondering if Purple was actually alone. Problems on top of problems. Curling her fingers into a fist, Mali tugged on her power, wrapping a skin touching shield against herself and the three girls in her charge. How to get through this without losing any of them? First things first - keep the two that were pure wildcards from using this to escape or, worse, join him. Short was either thinking the same thing, or perhaps something different - either way, the princess had made her decision. Even as the shields settled into place, separating them into two groups, Mali positioned herself in order to defend Noa and Sneeze. Within Short biting the bullet and taking most of the danger upon herself, it was barely necessary, but Mali wasn't going to take chances.

Watching Sneeze move toward Noa, Mali paused, wondering what the girl was up to. As she watched, she used magic to twist her voice, so that it was for Short's ears only. "Hits, three maybe four, strength decides. After, breaking of shield. Use careful." Of course Sneeze was urging Noa to flee with her. Brat. Marching over to them, Mali crouched down, the anger plain upon her expression, though something unknown lurked there as well. "Short places herself shield as, and you think flee only?" Shaking her head in disappointment, Mali regarded Sneeze-Brat silently for a moment. "Call her bad, that for." And yet she went on about balance and peace? That aside, why did she continue to ignore the warnings?

"Told you, can't run. Go back home, Riders chase. We can't protect. Won't just take you. Take family, use to hold hostage. Kill them, certainly. Why insist placing in danger them? Long you stay with us, won't think they will to use family." Why couldn't she understand that? Mali had explained it from the get go, yet she still had trouble listening. Standing up, Mali glanced over her shoulder toward Short and Purple. "Way either, we three leave. Two you useless are." But where should she take them? To the other group? No, not yet. If the other group was free of Riders, Mali didn't want to risk leading any hidden Riders to them. But where, then?

                                              Someplace easy to defend.

Reaching down, Mali stretch out her fingers, lightly touching both girls. A flash of light and they were gone, Mali with them. She would just have to trust that Short could handle Purple without her. Another flash of light, in a new place, heralded the arrival of the three girls. Mali stepped back from her two charges, glancing around. Nothing but grass for as long as she could see- wait, no, she was fairly certain there were some woods that way, and a mountain on the other side. Still, it would literally take hours of walking to reach anywhere but more grass. Perfect. Muttering, Mali built up a several layered shield spell. The first hid any magic from detection, the second hid them from all senses, the third a spell to distract anyone from approaching - just in case - and the fourth an actual shield spell to prevent anyone from entering... and leaving.

Placing her hands on her hips, Mali regarded Noa and Sneeze-Brat with cold eyes. "This it. No leaving, until not we talk. Explain to Noa. Deal with Sn- Danni. Won't leaving allow until done." Cutting her eyes toward Sneeze-Brat, Mali added; "Ring not work here in."

                                                • Yet another voice rang out, and it was one that she definitely recognized. True, she hadn’t heard it in a while, but even before she had snapped her crying face towards the source, she knew exactly who had spoken: Aniketos. Sure enough, there he was, standing there like some hero barging in at the last second. No. That was wrong in every sense. First and foremost, there was no way that she’d be hoping for someone like him to come in and save her. She wanted nothing to do with him- right? However, even if she had been hoping for that, his words spoke a different story. He was taking everyone away? She didn’t understand! Was he a part of the same terrorist group? Then—

"Why?!” the cracked voice demanded. Standing, the tears still flowed from Noa’s eyes but there was something akin to anger in her expression as well. She might have stomped over there and snatched Anik by the shirt had one of the girls not thrown some sort of force field between the group. Instead, she could only banged her fists upon the barrier as she repeated her question. "Why?! You saved me! For what?! For this?! If you were going to do all this, why didn’t you just push me?! Why bomb the school?! Why kill them?!” Once more, the pink-haired girl’s body was sinking towards the ground, dragging her fists on the barrier. There was another stifled sob as a wave of despair pulsed through her body. Resting her forehead against the barrier, the girl spoke more softly, "Kyoko-chan…Mari-chan… Miu… They weren’t a part of any of this… They just wanted to act on the stage! They just wanted to be normal girls! Why are you all taking this away from us?!”

Hanging her head, her arms seemed to fall limply at her side. He wasn’t coming. Takumi could hear her thoughts about as well as any of these people around her. The more she lost hope, the less the tears came- even if she still felt like crying. If her brother could not save her, she could at least save him though. It didn’t seem like these terrorists realized that he was in the building alongside her- or perhaps they weren’t looking for him at all. She couldn’t stay in Showa if she wanted to keep him safe, could she? That woman had already said that these people would chase after her without rest. She had to leave. She had to get away from these people. She didn’t want to die! If she stayed here, she felt as though she would definitely die. How could she get away though? These people had access to strange technology- things that she couldn’t hope to understand.

A chance came in one of the most unexpected places. One of the girls had stooped down to her level, holding a hand out towards her. Noa didn’t immediately react, taking a beat to even recognize that a hand had been offered. When she had, though, the blue eyes hesitated as they traveled up the arm to the other girl’s face. It was… one of the terrorists- or she had thought the other girl was a terrorist. Maybe that was wrong though. It didn’t matter though. She had hesitated just a second too long and the original terrorist had barred them from leaving. Mali touched her shoulder and Noa made a motion to jerk away from the touch, but it was already too late. By the time she had pulled away, the group of three had already popped off to- to… Looking all around her, she didn’t know where she was. What kind of technology did these terrorists have? This was the kind of stuff seen in science fiction books, but where- no! She didn’t care about any of that! She just wanted to be free of it all!

Turning around, there was a deep cold that hit Noa as she met eyes with the original terrorist. Those eyes that were like a dead fish… this place… this place would be her place of execution. Her body felt frozen at the thought, but something screamed out from within. She didn’t want to die! Not here! Not like this! Turning abruptly on her heel, the girl made to run away from these people. She didn’t know how far she’d get but— And just like that, her poorly-made escape attempt was over. There shouldn’t have been anything barring her way but Noa had run straight into an invisible wall of some sort. Hands groped frantically at the invisible wall, patting it as though they would be able to find some sort of opening that she could escape through. When nothing was found, the girl spun around, pressing her back against the wall and eyeing the two other females carefully. Finally, silence seemed to fall over the group, if only briefly- and all could hear was her own heart beating in her ears through the oppressive silence.

"L-Look,” she stammered after a while, holding a hand out as if the stave them off, " D-Don’t do anything rash! I won’t— I won’t tell anyone a-about the-the school thing, okay?! … … Wh-What do you want? Mo-Money?! I don’t have— I can get you money!! Just— J-Just take me… back. I-If I can get it, I’ll- I’ll do my best to get you what you want. So just… take me back.” Movies always did some sort of cliché about how higher-ups didn’t negotiate with terrorists. There was no way that Noa was that kind of person though. She might have hated others, she might have thought badly of them, she might even have thought about killing herself, but she… she didn’t want to die. She didn’t deserve this!

Patiently her gaze slid from one person to the next. The italian language was one that was hard to understand, but the issue was something easily rectified if she wished. Interestingly enough she was content to listen and observe as the outsider that she was; at least for now. Vaguely she followed after the group keeping an eye upon them out of her peripherals. They seemed to know where they were going and that was something more than Psykhe had to offer. Instead she trailed behind them at the back of the group until a tall blonde came into view. A tremor in her left pocket alerted her to the fact that this was the boy they were looking for. This thought was further confirmed from the ecstatic greetings of the group. Stepping back Psy allowed them a moment to themselves. All of them deserved and more than likely needed it considering how she and Mali had turned their world upside down on the day of the explosion.

Everywhere she looked people moved left and right. Groups of children laughed while parents chased after them. There were a few elderly couples here and there chatting about this and that. All in all…. it looked peaceful. It was a strange thing for Psykhe to see after so many years of fighting and death. For one moment, in this world, these people did not need to worry about the end that would eventually come for them. What kind of life was that?

Blinking out of her reverie, Psykhe turned her bright gaze upon Vale; a pensive expression upon her features. She did not return his welcoming smile and instead examined him from head to foot. At least he looked somewhat strong, but she wondered if he was trainable. Would he be as difficult as the others have been? Easier? How would his training differ considering the amount of time he had to himself with his own element? There were too many factors to take into account and Psykhe didn’t like the fact she didn’t have the answers to them. “We shall see,” Psykhe murmured in the end giving Vale another once over before moving on. The answers to his question came to the edge of her lips before she halted them abruptly. It would be better if the answers came from the others. He would believe them over a random stranger that was a tag a long for the time being. Taking one deep breath and then another she forced patience into her lungs. She needed to continuously remind herself that these moments were ones they needed. Moments of friendship and unity. Crossing her arms she turned around again continuing her examination of the Earth realm. While her books had described everything she needed to know, experiencing it was on a completely different level.

                                                              And then there was chaos.

It was not because Psykhe had been distracted that she became separated from the group. No, it was because the weapon being used was again something she had only read about. And even then she had skimmed that section. Why would she need to worry about Earthly weapons? She had fully believed that if any of the royals had one on them she would be able to easily defend herself or disarm them no matter the type. The bang took her by surprise and the body falling to her right had her eyebrows raised. It had happened so quickly and time seemed to slow. People ran in every which direction. Calcifer took Vale off to the side and what she could guess was out of the line of fire. Feli and Will had done the same leaving her standing amidst the screaming people like an idiot. Vaguely she was thankful the King did not have such a weapon at his disposal.

Instinct urged her to bring up a shield to defend herself, but following that came a mental warning. These people had never seen magic. Magic here was not as common as it was on Hentor. And even on Hentor it wasn’t that common. It was known to exist, but her uncle warned her to be careful with those on Earth. Fighting her urge to fling something at the oncoming attackers she darted off to the side behind a vendor’s cart that stood alone. There was metal between her and whatever came her way, but she had a feeling the attacker was not coming for her. He had aimed for Vale… and missed. What the hell had that kid gotten himself involved in? Peeking around the side she noted how the few men in the middle of the square were now twisting their heads left and right… searching? Psy took the time to do the same thing herself. “Feli? Will?” she called out peeking her head out the other side. Where had they gone? And where was Calcifer and Vale? Grumbling to herself about the idiocy of guns, Psykhe ducked down beneath the cart until she could see the shoes of the attackers. Nibbling on her lower lip she took a rock from nearby and setting it on an energy slingshot, rocketed it towards the gunmen that had been moving towards one of the buildings. Immediately his attention was diverted; hunting for the source while Psy continued to hunt for her charges. Find them before the gunmen did. Oh joy.
