The dapple gray mare had taken off with an astonishing burst of speed, her hooves pounding upon the earth in a rhythm that could only be described as music to Sapphire's ears. The world sped by them in a flurry of color, though Sapphire paid no mind to the dizzying blurs that her world consisted of since it was something she had grown quite used to. Bringing up the rear she could hear the thunderous hooves of the guards horses, boots of other men trying to catch up, their shouting for her to slow to a walk, and the rattling of the cart falling far beyond them.
'Mother and father should've known this was going to happen' she thought to herself feeling the moment of the horse beneath her, her feet firmly hooked in the stirrups. 'oh well', a smirk played on her beautiful full pink lips.
Why Sapphire asked one of the guards to catch up and lead the way was simply even beyond her own self, it simply sounded like the right thing to say at the time to give the men false hope that she actually wouldn't go off and do her own thing this time around. Neverless she did get a good laugh out of their pointless cries, they were so terrified that Sheeva would somehow take a spill and crush her, or that she would simply fly out of the saddle and tumble to the ground, that and given the fact she might possibly get lost by taking a wrong turn since after all she was nearly blind. She didn't steer Sheeva as the horse for the most part did her own thing much like Sapphire herself, but the thing of it was the single one and only 'creature' she trusted fully in that group of witless guards and horses was Sheeva. She would rather the horse find its own way to the castle than that man who claimed to be a coach and his horrible driving. But the best part of it all was Sapphire knew she would arrive before any of them could even manage to match Sheeva's gate, a it only took a simple guess that they were within miles of the castle since they'd been on the road long enough; perhaps it was cruel leaving them behind like that, but she didn't really seem to care in the least.
It wasn't but a minuet or so before the lighting changed in her shapeless surroundings as they broke free from the tree ridden path, men still shouting behind her asking her to slow down so they could show her the way, all she needed to do was listen to their words if she was getting any closer. The moment she heard a man shout that the castle was just up ahead her heart began to race, yes it was true she could not see the massive building ahead but she didn't need perfect vision to make out a stone gray blur, nor did she need her eyes to tell the difference in the gravel bellow Sheeva's hooves as the sound of muffled hooves changed to the crisp loud sound of cobblestone. For anyone else pushing their horse at this speed they would've likely slowed to a trot to reach the doors where she would be kindly assisted down from the saddle and addressed with the utmost respect, a simple entrance, but a boring one if she said so herself; she was not that princess. Only she knew why she acted in such ways, ways likely the rest of her family found quite unconventional and downright absurd, they likely never would know why she did such brash things.
”Go where you wish” she said leaning forward in the saddle speaking to the horse, weather or not Sheeva understood her words was a wonder, although the creature never did cease to surprise her. Not letting go of the reigns completely she brought slack to them making the excess leather drape upon the sides of the horse's neck just as the creature took a near sudden turn. Cobblestone vanished from beneath her hooves and was replaced with grass as they bound though the courtyard towards the gardens, and when Sheeva jumped high over what she presumed was a hedge she was a little unsuspecting nearly losing her balance as the horse landed on the other side.
Finally huffing and tired Sheeva slowed in strides until she finally reached a steady walk, and by the smells of it she was near a garden or in a garden of sorts. ”Well dear friend that was quite exhilarating was it not? she smiled filling her lungs with the floral scent of flowers; not too far off in the distance she chuckled at the ruckus the guards chasing her were still making, she could only wonder what curses they were whispering under their breath about her since none of them were quite man enough to say those insults to her face.
