“Making my way downtown walking fast, faces pass….” She sang lightly to herself, hood covering her head and eyes kept low to the ground not looking at the faces that actually did pass her by on the street. “Duh-nu-nu-nunana” She was lost in her own thought for once, completely at peace with things. It had been so long since the girl even remembered the last time she had such peace and quiet. Then it happened…bump. “Sorry” She said as she looked up into the persons face, she assumed he hadn’t seen her as well. “Watch where you’re walking b***h,” he obviously wasn't sorry for bumping into her either. b*****d. As quick as she thought it the man stopped, eyes wide as if he was watching a truck drive straight at him, he buckled over on the sidewalk gripping the sides of his head screaming in pain. It was that simple, one thought and she wasn’t even that upset. “s**t s**t s**t, someone call an ambulance!” There was now a crowd around them of people pulling out their phones to either call for help or record what was going on. Gem panicked as she didn't know what to do.Distance. Just like that she took off running. She didn't know where she was going to go or for how long she would run, all she knew was that she had to.

About thirty minutes later she found herself in a park, sitting on a swing set, hood still covering her face and looking down on the ground. Her feet dangled back and forth as she wasn’t really swinging, she was just sitting there thinking. I got to stop doing this, I just got too. A tear rolled down the side of her face as she looked up to the sky, letting her hood fall back and dragging her fingers through her short black tresses of hair. “And now I wonder….” She continued to sing the song from earlier as she didn’t know what else she could do, she suspected that eventually the sound of sirens would go to the scene of where she bumped into the man, and when that happened she would go in the opposite direction. As per usual.

As he walked, he could hear the resonating sound of an ambulance as it sped by. He was clad in a black leather jacket with a grey hood attached, dark jeans and black Chuck Taylor’s. His hood was settled over his head, hands in his jacket pockets. He didn’t notice what the commotion was about until he realized he was walking in the same direction as the ambulance was headed. In the distance, a crowd had gathered around some unconscious male, rumors indicating that he likely had some stroke, though the reality was far from some cerebrovascular accident. He paid them no further mind when he walked away. However, one of the officers recognized him as a frequent of the local police station, a boy whom was supposed to be on probation. Unfortunately for his probation officer, he’d long evaded him. “You, come here!” exclaimed the officer, gradually increasing his pace to a sprint.

Warren found himself running into the park; he couldn’t use his powers when there were so many people around. He hadn’t spotted Gem, whom had been sitting idly on the swing. As the officer neared him, Warren extended his hand in the direction of an abandoned skateboard, the skateboard rising and striking the officer in the back of the head, knocking him out onto the grass. He could’ve used his powers directly on the officer, but then he’d see. The skateboard wasn’t in the officer’s line of sight at the time, an excellent opportunity. With the chase at an end, he leaned forward with his arms over his knees so he could catch his breath. He glanced at the officer, hearing the communicator on the ground; he must’ve attempted to call for backup sometime during the chase. “Damn.” Warren picked up the communicator to answer. “Leave me alone!” he said angrily, throwing the communicator aside. It was too early in the morning to deal with the kind of crap he just experienced; the police needed to stay away from him, or else.

Kek Hilal

Ring! Finally! Kek thought to himself as the bell for class to end rang. It was already time for him to leave for the day, he only had one class to attend on Thursdays and it was normally over well before lunch time. His school in Egypt was far ahead of the schools here and he had the choice to sit in on other classes throughout the day or go back to his exchange home. It was only natural for him to choose the latter. He only had one more week before he could get out of this hellhole of a program. After that, he'd pretend to get on the flight back to Egypt and he hoped it would take a while for them to realize he wasn't coming home. At least enough time for him to meet up with Austin and go into hiding. It may not have been a very well thought out plan but he couldn't stand the way things were going in Egypt. This boy Austin, who he had met online, seemed like the one for him. So long as he doesn't turn out to be some old creeper! They had been talking for the better part of two years and came up with this idea together.

He was walking through the park that would lead him to his exchange parent's apartment, lost in thought, when he heard some shouting and it was getting louder. He couldn't stand commotion like this and it seemed to be headed his way so he ran to the nearest tree and hid behind it. Then he waited for the scene to unfold. To his amazement, he watched as someone seemingly moved a skateboard without touching it and slammed it into a police officer's head. What the hell... he thought, the expression on his face just going blank. He didn't know what to think but knew in situations like this, it was best to avoid any party involved. He turned away and started walking towards the swing set, only to find yet another person. He couldn't help but want to avoid her as well but noticed she looked very sad she possibly just finished crying or was about to. Going against what his body wanted to do, he asked, "Is everything alright Ma'am?" Then his curiosity peaked and he continued, "Did you just see what happened over there?" He walked over and took the swing next to her, looking into her sad eyes.

Mathias Matthews

Mathias had not left his room when most of the other deviants left theirs. The facility had become a home to him and he generally treated it like most normal people would treat their homes. He stayed in bed almost all of the day when he could. However on this particular morning Mathias had a little accident. He didn't sleep wearing gloves and so when he woke up from his rather pleasant sleep, adjusted his pillow, and tried to return to sleep, Mathias found that his pillow had frozen over. It felt like a rock would and that was the only reason that the twenty-two year old man rolled out of bed. He didn't have any testing today and nobody had informed him of anything important so Mathias didn't see any reason to leave his room. However without a pillow he also didn't see any way to sleep comfortably. In a few hours, maybe a day, his pillow would probably thaw and he would be able to sleep on it again. Still, it was a bloody shame that he couldn't keep sleeping on it. Mathias proceeded to go about his daily routine. He washed up and got dressed. unfortunately, as he was putting on his tie, it adopted the path of the pillow and froze solid. The struggle to remove it from around his neck could be compared to any of the ancient wars. Lots of confusion and struggling, but very little documentation. With the tie finally off Mathias decided to put on his gloves, and then he put on a different tie. With gloves it was a little more complicated but the Windsor knot came out relatively as perfect as it always did.

Dressed and ready to move, Mathias left his dormitory and moved out into the recreational area. He saw Elizabeth, Jason, and Jordan but did not walk up to the trio. Instead he moved over to the bookshelf and pulled out the copy of A Tale of Two Cities that he had been reading. He always had to hide it to prevent Jayson from eating any of the pages but that had worked out for the best. Now Mathias knew all the good hiding spots in the recreational area. He walked back over to the couch and sat down. After struggling to open the book to where he left off, due to his gloves, Mathias began to read. He couldn't help that he heard the conversation going on behind him but he was trying not to eavesdrop. That would have been rude and he tried not to be rude whenever possible.

Jorden gasped "Were going to go make new friends?!" she jumped up throwing her juice box and clapped then caught it. "Awesome! I can't wait to make new friends!" she said and skipped around the counter "No, you can't go..." she whispered "What do you mean? Of course I can come..." she awsnered herself then snapped up looking over and waved to Mathias "Hey Mathias." she said then skipped over placing her empty juice box near Jayson "Do you want to eat this so we can avoid trashing the planet...?" She asked smiling up at him.

"But he's such a brown-noser, no wonder you let him handle the trips outside. I could ferry people about but then I'd lose them then immediately start eating cars." He shrugged and looked over at Jordan, his face lit up slightly as he had a brilliant yet dangerous plan on how they could stage an escape from the place, he would have to have a word with her about it later. Not that he didn't like discussing his plans in front of the doctor, he loved spending time alone in solitary. Before he could say anything about his scape plans she started dancing about, turns out being cooped up for years at a time drove people slowly mad, or perhaps she was like that when she came her, either way being inside certainly didn't help. "You know I'm not a bin, right?" He said but he had already finished his magazine and the juice box was looking tempting. "Ah, give it here, I'd only eat it later anyway." He picked it up and started on the straw. "Where'd you get that book from? You don't have to hide things from me, just put it in your room and then cover it in a big block of ice." That wouldn't stop him but it would give them time to catch him and pull him away before he got to the book centre.

She was lost in her own thought for a moment; she didn’t even hear all the screaming or the pitter patter or running feet. What she did feel however was an itch on the back of her brain, something that bothered her to no end. It wasn't until she looked up and saw the boy yelling into the cops’ radio that it made sense to her. He’s like me. She didn't really know how she knew all she knew was that….well…she knew. She wanted to walk right over to him and say something, but that wouldn't end well for either of them seeing as he found a way to knock out a cop without even touching him…wait. “He knocked out a cop,” internally she was panicking but she knew she had to keep her cool and not let her emotions get the best of her. Keep it together, keep it together, keep it together. It was in this mantra of thought she was in when a young boy approached her and started speaking to her; she could feel the itch again. It was like something pecking at her brain telling her to pay attention. She looked up at the kid; he didn't look any older than maybe sixteen or seventeen, if only he knew what she did. He asked her if she knew what was going on and for a moment she started at him blankly, not the stare of ‘I have no idea what you mean’ but more like the stare of, ‘if you continue to talk to me your brain will be soup on the floor’. She caught herself and lifted her hood back over her head standing from the swing set and dusting off her jeans for a second. “I didn't” was all she said before she walked away from him and went to another side of the park. She couldn't bring herself to leave because of the guy she saw, something about him made her…well…worry. He seemed scarred and angry, a lot like she use to be, so apart of her was sympathetic, while the other part of her knew she had to keep her distance.

He was hoping to get away right then, but he’s underestimated how recent the officer’s call for backup was made. And to think that he’d hoped to simply walk away, perhaps he’d been too naïve to think they’d truly leave him be. He could hear the sirens; they were coming. He looked in all directions anxiously and irritably. “I’ve done it now! Damn it!” He wiped his face and set his hands on his head, trying to think, albeit with very little brilliance, but he did receive an idea. He aimed his hand in the direction of the unconscious officer, levitating him from the ground and into a tree, deep enough in the compilation of leaves as to avoid being in sight. As far as the police were concerned, they’d be searching for a body, as there was no mundane truth as to how anyone normal could’ve possibly hidden the body in time. He pulled the hood a little lower to better conceal himself before putting his hands in his pockets. His actions implied that he wasn’t looking for trouble. He had powers, so he could’ve stayed and fought, but he didn’t.

In order to look a little less suspicious, he settled himself on the nearest bench. He’d been too concerned about getting away and the officers to realize the two were there. His hands were shaking in his lap, eyes wide with evident dismay. When he lifted his head, his eyes squinted slightly, though his look turned to horror as he finally saw the two; they’d seen. He didn’t notice the girl relocating, so he was a little more hopeful that she hadn’t seen him at all. He wondered why they weren’t running, and he was afraid that he’d provoke them if he approached them. When the police came, he looked at them terrified, his lips speaking inaudible words, though he was clearly pleading for them not to mention what had just happened. If they pointed out what they’d just seen, the situation would escalate.

“You might want to grab a jacket. It’s a little cold outside, mostly the breeze,” she suggested. It was a minor concern; she had one person, so now she just needed a second volunteer. Perhaps the outside could do her some good.

When she heard the comment about Benjamin, she sighed. “Excuse you, he’s much behaved,” she replied in defense. After all, she rather liked Benjamin, so he deserved a bit more respect than to be labelled that way.

It was amusing to have him mention the book, but she then realized something about the magazine he devoured. “Well you are eating the magazine that Regina was looking forward to looking at this afternoon—of which she’ll give a scolding. I don’t see any reason why he wouldn’t conceal his valuables.” Regina happened to have a supersonic scream, so that was going to be unpleasant. Perhaps she’d ask Charlie to fetch another magazine before it was too late.

Kek Hilal

Kek shivered as he watched the woman walk away from him, he knew the look he had received just now very well. The tone of voice she used when she told him she didn't see anything further confirmed the feeling he got from her. I wonder what's going on with her, he thought. Still seated on the swing set, he watched her leave him behind until he made up his mind to pursue it. He looked over and could see where the incident just occurred perfectly. There's no way she missed that, she had a front seat view from here! He got up and followed behind her, trying to stay hidden so she wouldn't get angrier than she already appeared to him. He was also trying to stay out of site of the guy who had knocked out the officer. As he looked over to him again to see if he'd be visible, he saw the boy somehow lifting the cop's body and setting it hidden in a tree.

That was the determining factor that he had really seen what he saw earlier and he was now seeing it again. Is it magic? He thought trembling, scared that the boy might come after him next. The boy seemed to look in his direction with pleading eyes as the sound of more officer's came into range. Strange enough, Kek felt like he could trust the boy more than the officers but still wanted nothing more to do with it. Happy that he got his answer, he forgot about the women and focused entirely on hiding and waiting this out. Unfortunately for him, the cops, the woman and this guy were all around the paths he could take home and he knew at least two out of the three options would get him involved. He tried to find another tree that would block him from being seen by anyone when he noticed something that scared him more than anything in his life.

He was looking down at his feet, but could only see the ground. Holy crap! He thought as he brought his hand in front of his face and saw nothing but the scenery around him. What's going on? he could feel his anxiety peaking to dangerous levels as he examined the rest of his body. Nothing. There was nothing of his body remaining, all he had now were his thoughts which were becoming increasingly frantic. Where did I go! What's happening to me. He tried to calm down but nothing was working until he put his hands on his head. Solid. He could feel his head, he proceeded to touch the rest of his body, it was still there just see through. He didn't know how but he hoped at this point that no one else could see him either. What do I do? He thought as he started to calm down even more, so what, I'm invisible? Is that even possible? He then recalled what he had just seen, I guess at this point, anything is possible. He decided to duck behind a tree still just in case someone could still see him. He wanted to be in range of the boy too, that way he may be able to find out more about what is happening to him.

Glancing up when a familiar face entered, she watched Mathias walk over to grab his book then sit on the couch. Smiling and giggling slightly under her breath, she watched him struggle a little because of his gloves. Adora always knew it was never good to stare, but she couldn't help it. She had seen him many times before, it wasn't as big of an area as others thought. Wondering if she should go over and sit with him, she hesitated before looking elsewhere. It's not what she would naturally do, so it was best not to; unless he called her over. Returning back to her book, she stayed curled on the small ledge as she read.

Every now and then she lifted her eyes to examine the scene in the park, an array of sirens could be heard but she didn’t know if they were coming for her, or him. She looked around the park to see if she could see them, the boy who approached her still by the swing set while the other…he seemed to be panicking more and more and then that’s when it happened. As if the guy weighed no more than a feather he simply floated up and was hidden in the trees. She looked back over to the swing set to see if the guy who talked to her had seen what she saw, but he was gone, out of sight like he was never there in the first place. Now she was positive, the guy was like her, but at the same time not like her. Her eyes were wide with disbelief, she’d never met another person who could make things happen although what he seemed to be able to do looked a lot less destructive then what she could do. For a small second she envied him, why couldn’t she have an ability that didn’t harm someone at the first negative though, she was definitely jealous of the boy but that didn’t stop her from noticing the obvious distress on his face. She looked around and she saw two police car lights in the distance, and they were getting closer. It’s none of your business Gem, for all they know you didn’t see anything. She looked back over at the boy and that’s when it got awkward. Eye contact. There was no hiding it now, he saw her and she knew he knew that she saw everything. His lips were making out some words and she could tell that he wanted her to stay quiet but that wasn’t going to stop the cops from questioning them. Then it came into her mind, a street trick that shouldn’t even work as well as it does.

She made her way over to him quickly and sat next to him, looking around she saw that the police cars were getting closer. “Hi, just so you know I’m not going to say anything, and in case I’m invading your personal space I’m really truly sorry for this next bit.” Listening to herself talk she knew she didn’t make any sense but there wasn’t enough time. The cops were now exiting their vehicles and making their way to the scene of what happened. “Sorry” she whispered quickly as she made she her hood was blocking their faces and in one swift motion she kissed him, nothing sloppy and gross like that but convincing enough so the cops would think they were just a couple of kids making out in public. She felt the tap on her shoulder and she in the pit of her stomach she felt as if the ruse wasn’t going to work this time. She turned around and feigned an embarrassed look. “Oh….um…sorry, you know how it can be sometimes.” She laughed a little to sell the bit, but in the back of her mind she knew they were caught. The officer looked at the couple and motioned for them to move along and leave the park. Thank God. She nodded her head and stood up grabbing the boys’ hand pretending as they were going to leave. The officer walked away and she watched him leave before sitting back down at the other end of the bench, letting out a deep sigh of relief. I did it, I kept it together. She was proud of herself, no big freak out, no one was hurt, and no one was on the ground writhing in pain. Maybe I can do this. She thought to herself with a small smile, but then she felt a pit in her stomach drop as she remembered. “Oh” she mumbled under her breath as she looked at the stranger she just kissed who had assaulted a police officer and hid him away…in a tree. “If we can agree to never talk about this like ever, I’d be ok with that.” She said as she turned away and stood up starting to walk off and away. She wanted to be as far away from that place as physically possible.

He felt a tidal wave of relief as she mentioned not revealing what had occurred, and his eyes looked as if he were truly sorry. Her eyes looked as if she too was conscious of the police, though he didn’t quite understand what she meant by her next bit. He was far too grateful to be worried about personal space. “It’s oka—” He was quickly interrupted by a sudden congress of their lips. His anxiety turned to confusion, an amalgam of chaotic thoughts surging throughout his mind, yet peaceful all the same. He did his best to keep his composure when the officer approached. His hand twitched slightly when she took it; he was still astonished, though not too obviously to be discovered.

He remained seated so he wouldn’t alarm her; so much had occurred, so he didn’t want to startle her. “Why did you help me?” His voice retained an honest curiosity rather than a desire for her not to. He looked down momentarily, than back to her as she distanced herself. “You’re head, I can feel it in your head…” He turned in the direction of the boy; he was invisible, but he could sense his presence there. His powers were based entirely on his ability to connect and manipulate the objects that surrounded him. In other words, he didn’t have to see; he only had to perceive the matter. He was confused, especially because he could feel him there, but couldn’t see him.

Mathias Matthews

Mathias offered a passive wave to Jordan when she greeted him before returning his primary focus back to his novel. He heard Jayson's comment from behind and turned his head slightly to look at the trio. He had heard Jordan say something about making 'new friends' and Mathias knew very well what that meant. "Banana mage two: the legend continues." He hadn't meant for that to come out as loudly as it did but he couldn't do anything about it now. Mathias tried to recover by looking at his book but he still felt Jayson deserved a response and so after a little though he spoke again. "Mr. Wright, we both know that a door and a little ice wouldn't stop you from eating my book. Besides, when I hide the book, it feels like a game. A personal challenge from me to you. Find the book and you win. " Mathias said as he struggled to flip the page again. Honestly he didn't know why he chose to read these books. He had read them all before and at this point they weren't really worth reading. He knew how the story ended and the only appeal to keeping the book around was the little game between Jayson and himself.

That was when Mathias heard the giggling across the room. He looked over to see Adora in her usual corner reading as she usually was. He had seen her around from time to time but never really spoken with her aside from casual greetings or short book based conversations. What he didn't understand was why she was giggling. Then, after looking down and trying to flip the page he understood and a smile crept over his face. He really did look ridiculous when trying to turn the page. Mr. Matthews looked up towards Adora and motioned for her to come over and sit with him.

“Don’t know just did,” in all honesty she couldn’t think of a reason why she helped him. She assumed because she saw so much of herself in him, or maybe it was because he could do things that no one should be able to do just like her. She shook her head and stopped walking away, standing by a tree and thinking to herself. Why did I help him? She then looked up as he said something else, she didn’t really understand what he meant by it so she gave him a confused looking. Of course she couldn’t see the other boy so she had no idea that he wasn’t even talking to her, but even still it was a confusing thing to say.”Feel what in my head? Can you…can you tell?” It wouldn’t be surprising to her, she could tell what he was just by being in the same area but that would mean that others like her could tell what she was. How many of them were there, did he know, did he know more about her than he was letting on. She tried to keep a calm composure but with everything around them happening so fast it was difficult.
