GS Parallel Mercury
Personally I have been in quite a number of RPs, some good, some bad, and we seem to get along well enough without a numbering system, based on character profiles and mutual agreement. Personally I prefer it this way. I fire a shot let's say, and then I write my post such that it allows the person I am attacking to decide if the shot hit or missed and now much damage it did. Then it is assumed they do the same for me. Assuming we have no god modders in the RP, it usually works out well. It allso allows a lot more writing freedom.
Beautifully put! I wish I had had the sense to say it that way. That system has always worked well for me in the past (except for this one time I threw what was meant to be a
weak attack at a being who was practically a
God, and the other player had the "God" explode...but that's beside the point
rolleyes ), and I think the whole "stats" thing just adds an unnecessarily level of complication to things. Also, it could easily cause quite a bit of tension between players. I know that if I had placed stats for my
Snarl character the way me and
Cudboy designed him, there would have been so many tens and nines that I would have been
flamed right out of the RP.
sweatdrop Abnormally powerful characters do show up (though GM approval of them is a must), and stats would just shove that fact in everyone's face. The old method works fine, I think. Still, if
Chief demands stats, I'll go along with it.

Oh, and
Whitescarver, please try to use the PM system to address some of your more negative comments, rather than posting them here in the thread. I agree that
Chief's tirade was a bit much, but I can understand why he was upset. We were
all demanding a bit too much from him, and while I would prefer that his vent hadn't been quite so, well,
explosive (and smaller font would have been nice), it
was justified. From now on though, I think we should all stick with the "if you don't have something constructive to say, keep it out of the thread" rule.
