This Thread is specifically made for learning tips for better roleplaying, learning about the AMP (Anti-Munch Proyect) and following Gaian TOS. Here you may learn more about what you already have knowledge in. It never hurts to expand your knowledge.

You may also read in some interesting things about how to get rid of that nasty old Writer's Block that a writer gets from time to time.

If you ever find yourself reading this, you may have to get this fair warning:" Read some, get it done." Meaning, if you start reading, be sure to finish!

Helpful Tips

1~ Never break forum rules, that goes for roleplaying rules too. If it says 'Human Only' you will NOT come in with a half angel, half demon, half cat, half mother ******** of the Universe.
2~ Metaphysics are 75% frowned upon. So are Atomic and Molecular Manipulation, Inexplicable and Dimensional Teleportation, Planar Psionics. If you don't know what they are, here: Metaphysics: Attempting to explain away actions which are ultimately magical but with scientific words, anime physics, etc., in order to make attacks and abilities that are considered a God-mode believable and 'legal.'

Atomic and Molecular Manipulation: Anything that has to deal with manipulating the structure or components of atoms or molecular structures. This includes microscopic nanobot alterations. Full Metal Alchemist-style transmutation, D20 style negative energy, and forms of telekinesis are not counted as atomic or molecular manipulation. Lycanthropes and other forms of shapeshifters are not considered as manipulation.

Inexplicable and Dimensional Teleportation: Instant phasing between realities, dimensions, universes or planes of existence, moving at the speed of light, etc. A time build up for a teleportation spell, at least equal to how long it would take you to cover the ground you want to travel would be allowed; doing so instantly is not counted as inexplicable/dimensional teleportation; likewise, ritual teleportation is exempted.

Planar Psionics: Anything that involves using the powers of the mind to override the laws of reality on a large scale, create new planes of existences, dimensions, universes; bring in extraplanar materials, or other such actions that are in the realms of what deities can perform.

3~ It helps to identify what is speaking, actions and thoughts in roleplays, so please, identify them. "Communication" Thoughts Actions.

4~ In a fight? Great! Always hitting your opponent? Not so great. Always hitting is never good, you might as well make an attempt to harm and/or kill your opponent. Tell me this wouldn't annoy you?: Turtle Neck runs at Pizza face and stabs him in the heart, killing him instantly. Annoying right? Right.

5~ If you are a male and like to use characters that flirt with others, please, don't make your character fall in love with everybody or everybody fall in love with your character, it gets gradually frustrating in those kinds of roleplays.

6~ Health, Mana, Power? Okay, so when it comes to 99.9% of lifeforms, they have two different forms of energy. Health and Mana. Health, well, that's pretty obvious. The strength with which you can swing a sword, the keenness of your vision, how many hits you can take before going down, etc. Mana is the opposite of this, sort of. How quickly you can cast a fireball, the intensity of your magic, how many magic spells you can cast before running dry, etc. When it comes to things like robots and androids (cyborgs are a different story), they have one form of energy, Power. This is a sort of combination of both Strength and Mana. Remaining Power and how power is directed will determine a number of things, including, but not limited to, locking on, firing missiles, attacking, defending, repairing, transforming, etc. This can be in the form of a battery or a nuclear core or the like. When it runs dry, the robot is down and out.

7~ Harry Potter Character? AKA Magic User? Magic is one of several main sources of supernatural powers. The origin of magic is generally considered use of an external, as opposed to internal, force; whereas spiritual and psionic powers come from internal powers, be it a soul, the body's natural energy, your mind, etc. The source of magical energy is referred to commonly as "mana", "aether", or various other terms. While there is an internal part of it (that which makes the magic under your control), most magic-users channel from some other source, manipulate the ambient mana, etc, only expending enough of their own to control and guide the effects. In theory, one could, over time, have an infinite amount of mana, and be able to cast or weave a seemingly unlimited amount of spells with minimal expenditure of one's "personal" mana; however, the dedication needed to be able to do so is rarely found except in pure mages or powerplayers. For the most part, there is a focus and ritual required in using magic (an object, incantation, sacrifice, gesture, etc) to achieve the desired results - in Harry Potter, for example, the focus to use magic, in general is a wand, and the ritual is saying a verbal component. On Gaia, you're likely to see someone shouting out a spell, making a certain motion with their hands, charging up magical power, and you may even see a few people using material components such as blood or gems to express their magic. Yet another common focus is an enchanted weapon. Note, however, that this is not always needed. On Gaia, most people appear to be "will" casters, meaning that it is a matter of willpower to perform magic and cause the effects. This means that even without the familiarity of a ritual or use of the external force, one can perform magic using only their willpower and the limited internal supply. Likewise, it is possible, although draining, to perform feats of magic that have not been learned specifically. It is generally frowned upon to do with things that your character has no experience in - for example, a magic-user focused on mainly offensive powers should not be able to regenerate with no experience or training in those areas. However, it is slightly more reasonable for that magic-user to use an offensive spell like a fireball into something defensive, such as a wall of fire.

8~ Making mechas, A.K.A robotic mechanism? If it's a Battle Mecha, be sure to have the weight problem balanced out, the weapons believable, Nobody wants to roleplay against a mecha with a weapon and blows up Earth. I should know, I know a couple who have weapons like this... Anyway! It's it's a friendly unit, A.K.A a non-battle unit, then be sure to dot in the specifics. I mean the creator, creation name, creation time it's primordial functions, secondary, thirds blah blah blah. What does it have integrated into it's system, does it harbor data? You know, like R2-D2.

9~ Research! For the love of God, if you're gonna make a character do your part and conduct a well-organized research! Nobody wants a vampire that uses Holy Water to heal! Nobody will ever want a dragon with scales that aren't pierced by anything! They're hard, yes, but damn! A claymore could slink right through them. And story says that dragons aren't affected by magic. No, they aren't. BUT! If the magic isn't directly to them, it affects them. You know, like create an ice pillar from under the dragon and make it shoot up. Phoenixes are mythical water creatures? They are mostly from fire. NOBODY...wants a fire phoenix that can travel UNDER WATER. Get it?

10~ Age problems. This is one of the biggest flukes I've seen on Gaia since I've started. Vampires that are well over one thousand years of age. Can YOU roleplay the intelligence of a person that's well over ONE THOUUUSSAAANNDD!! I mean, srsly. You don't know what are their thoughts. What would be their opinions of things and you certainly can't expect them to be weak. I mean. Even for an old person, over one thousand years of knowledge would probably get that being's power level over the limit.

More to be added as time passes....

The Anti-Munch Proyect, AKA the AMP

(Edited Some By Me)

What AMP is all about
The only reason I tell you this is because it demonstrates that not everyone is a "n00b" (a term which I have hated for a while now), and also to show you that some people genuinely have no idea what is happening when they enter a roleplay for what might be their first time.

This AMP thread lists first the types of roleplayer (all the largely agreed upon definitions, any corrections just PM me), and then the various types of Muncher/Godmodder.

In light of previous whining I have decided to kill all user input, including my own added terms. Apparently the concept of an AMP open to suggestion was not a popular idea.

The types of munching have now been ordered alphabetically. I tried to go for 'seriousness of offense', but it was too difficult. Alphabetical order is generally easier to navigate and simpler to flick to find the definition of a certain term, anyway.

Types of Roleplayer

Despite the definitions below, individuals tend to have their own definitions of the major terms for types of roleplayer. The definitions given here are sort of a "mean" or "average" of those opinions. No individual's opinion is incorrect, so long as they explain what they mean when using a certain term, if others ask.

Oldbies:
Are veterans of roleplaying. They generally know best after years of experience. Becoming an oldbie, however, is not necessarily the ultimate goal; many people are fine just settling down as Literate.

Elites:
A tricky area, the term Elite is often taken to mean someone who is superb at roleplaying, however this is usually reserved for the term Oldbie. Following now is a description of an Elite as typically seen.
Elites are on their way to becoming Oldbies, but somehow veer off-course and become asshats instead. Elites can be recognized by their "Elites only" policy, with no lee-way whatsoever. They are generally quite cocky, think they are better, and insist on using reams and reams of detail. This can be particularly true for magic users, who are convinced that their descriptions of the traits and limits of magic are unquestionable.
Thankfully their numbers are few and far between, though I can scream out a couple of hundred names.

Neo-Literates
Well, this is a new addition to the Types Of Roleplayers, freshly out of the idea tank. Neo-Literates are basically the same as Literate roleplayers. But have a more active imagination for things. They tend to play with sounds, environment, animals all that jazz. If they were put in a white room for at least a week, they would most likely not go crazy. But if you'd stare through a see-through glass, you'd think they'd be weird, talking to themselves and what not. In short, they are the perfect species to liven up a dead roleplay.

Literates:
Literate roleplayers are just that. Literate. They use correct punctuation and grammar, and roleplay fairly. Literates often refer to, and follow the AMP (Anti-Munch Project). A common flaw in being Literate is that you can be too fair, but that is by no means a totally end of the world drama,oh the horror bad thing.

Newbie/Newb:
A Newbie can at first seem to be a n00b, they can though, learn to correctly roleplay fairly and adequately. Newbies are to be encouraged and treated well, and will often grow into skilled Literates.

ne0 n00b:
ne0s (never use a capital 'n' for them!) at first appear to be Literates. This falsehood becomes apparent after a few posts however, as they tend to break the AMP a lot, and are actually just n00bs who can spell.

n00b:
(Don't use a capital 'n' for these either!) n00bs are the worst roleplayer available. A sad and terribly derogatory approach to take, but the simple fact of the matter is that they just cannot and will not roleplay fairly, even when outnumbered, out gunned, and obviously dead in character.
They will often resort to flaming, leading to eventual bans, new accounts, and new bans.

Anti Munch Project Terms

Aimbotter:
Especially annoying when using NPCs, as NPCs don't get to argue about munch.
A: Three hundred seventy of my trained assassin gymnasts crest the hill, sight you, and rush toward you.
B: Luckily, I have three hundred sixty-nine bullets in my chain gun! I quickly mow them all down, each taking a single bullet to the head, and peg the last one with a rock in the sternum.

Augustine:
Far, far too prevalent. They try to carry something from one RP into another, just because they're in the same sub-forum.
A: Given that this RP's technology base is medieval, I happily drive my cart to the market to buy some maggot-ridden meat.
B: Too late! I already got there in my Gundam and blew up everything with my insanely overpowered weapons! And don't start whining, because my Gundam's already pre-approved in the "This Is Not a Medieval Technology Base RP" thread.

Baghdad Bobbit:
An advanced (or is that "degraded"?) form of Puppetmaster and Aimbotter combined. These people soon become bored of anybody with a lack of skill, and wander off in a huff because the RP will take too long for their precious, precious time.
A: I fire at the stationary target, hitting twice but missing with my remaining four rounds.
B: I get tired of your realistic RPing style and poke you in the neck, collapsing your trachea. You die writhing in torment.

Batmen:
Only a few, but they're a b***h to deal with.
A: In this Fantastic Four RP, I'll be Ben, the gruff rock-man with a heart of gold.
B: I'll be Reed Richards, the living sex toy who hunts down innocent women to subdue with his incredible flexibility!

Boa Constrictor:
Threads that have a long list of rules that prevent any characters except their own from roleplaying in that thread. No example will be given here, since that would be suggesting rules that shouldn't be used at all, and used separately these rules would be fine.
Boa Constrictors most commonly like to ban most forms of magic, guns, NPCs, technology, 'special' abilities etc. The result is, as I said, a thread in which very few characters can venture.
I do emphasize that threads should have whichever rules they want, within fairness to other roleplayers. Lists of rules which prevent too much are too, let's face it, n00bish.

Daydreamer:
Not exactly munch, per-se, but it does get annoying. They manage to turn seemingly coherent RP into a mad ramble about totally unrelated things. Which is not to say that adding a little insight in the middle of an RP is bad; but try to make it only a few lines, three at the most, as anything else just distracts from the current events taking place.
A: In the middle of the intense shootout, I dash across the narrow alley, ducking and weaving in hopes to avoid getting hit. I'm unsuccessful; two bullets peg me in the shoulder, throwing me back into a Dumpster.
B: The bullets make me think back to my days as a youth, when I had to melt down tin soldiers to use as musket balls against the Redcoats... or was it redskins? I can't remember. Anyway, I had to walk uphill all three ways to school and back, running from glaciers all the while. It was torture, lemme tell ya. And then there's the story of how I met my first wife...

Desperadoes
These little retards are those common in romance roleplays. Desperadoes seem to be desperate for love or something, because when they first meet a person, they are instantaneously head over heels and they are apparently the love or their life.
A: I bump into your shoulder, look into your eyes and apologize.
B: I look at you and I hear wedding bells, fireworks, midgets in diapers ready to shoot heart shaped arrows at us. Let's get married!

Gaseous Snake:
A combination of McFly and Lucky Irishmen. They will often attempt to alter the RP right after the fairly playing RPer has made a post that will see the Snake's demise. They are not, however, as desperate as McFlys in what they change.
A: I walk to the door and open it.
B: Being a fellow with a bit of foresight, I hooked that doorknob to a car battery an hour ago. You're thrown across the room.

Godmoder:
A rather broad term, basically covering a character/roleplayer who can overcome any situation. They will often have flashy powers, ignore just about anything you say and do, and somehow manage to be completely unaware of their own unfairness (otherwise known as stupidity).
A: Now that you're strapped to the end of a naval cannon, I fire it.
B: Whoosh! I nimbly dodge, somehow forgetting the fact that I'm restrained by three-hundred-pound chain!

Hi-jacker:
These are intensely annoying for thread creators. They are often members of that thread, also. These are the people that take over a thread they are roleplaying in, and either add things in, or perform actions that affect everyone roleplaying in the thread.
(Real example)
A: Ok! Our base is under attack and we have to defend it!
B: *Goes and activates the base's self destruct* Everybody run you have three minutes!

Hiver:
So named after such things as the xenomorphs from Aliens, the Klendathu bugs from Starship Troopers (which both use hives), and the teeming hordes they generally are. These hordes are always fearless, tireless, will battle until dead, and quite often have some excessive weapons and/or armour. Alternate names are Beehivers or Ants.
Basically, it's the guys who have too many NPCs.
A: *He silently approached the enemy position, knowing himself to be outnumbered yet confident enough in his ability*
B: *The camp was over ten thousand strong and each man was alert and ready, watching the perimeter for intruders*

IDKFA:
Most likely people attempting to emulate Solid Snake or some other cheesy spy-novel hero. They never run out of weapons or ammo, or anything else that leads to them being victorious.
A: You're all out of ammo for all five of your Ingram submachine guns. Since you're buck-naked, I know I can now safely step into the open and begin returning fire.
B: Ha! Little did you know, I have twelve shuriken hidden within my pubic hair!

Ironclad Sentinels:
This is fast becoming a problem, and refers to when a thread's subject organization/corporation/military has too many defenses, or defenses that are unrealistically powerful or just plain 'modey.
A: I am attacking with a battalion of thirty tanks, air support of twenty gun-ships, and three submarines off the coast with Tomahawk cruise missiles.
B: Defenses - Force field that blocks everything but lets our weapons out, invisibility shield around the base, 100 SAM turrets, 100 machine gun turrets, 1000 guards with machine guns, 200 space fighters, 200 tanks.

McFly:
Declining in numbers now, these will alter situations (and usually first posts) drastically to give them an advantage in roleplay.
A: Ha! Now that the force field is down, I run inside your evil lair!
B: Um... um... there's also a super-secret second force field which causes you to die instantly! I just didn't say anything about it because... um... I had to do my laundry! Not because I just thought of it now! Honestly!

Min-maxer:
Not a lot of those running around here, thank goodness... that's more of a DnD-style paper game issue. Their own strength:weakness ratio is off the charts.
A: I've successfully broken into the facility which gave you your incredibly 1337 power armor. Now I pull up the file on it. What does it say about weak points?
B: The metal of my armor is... um... allergic to praying mantis urine.

Miss Cleo:
They use Out of Character knowledge to their own advantage.
A: ((OOC: There's a secret switch hidden in the lamp.))
B: I suddenly think to myself-- why not check the lamp for hidden switches? Call me now for your free reading!

NIMBY:
The people who quite readily attack others' threads, but then stop all attacks on their own thread.
A: They attacked us! Let's go and get them!
B: *Deletes any posts related to an attack and/or bitches to a moderator*

Oblivious Oaf:
People who don't explain how what they are using, works. Now this is fine to an extent; you're not expected to know the exact functioning procedure for a gravity-spewing rail gun, but at least give a vague idea behind the mechanism because at times it can help your opponent to formulate an adequate response.
A: Haha my ultra shield deflects any projectile weapon
B: ((Dude, how does that work? I need some info))
A: ((Ahhhhh uhhhhhh.......it....uses......some... weird substance... that like... does something... and then it like... just deflects all projectiles! ))

Oxymoron:
Luckily rare. (And no relation to me. I think) They manage, somehow, to be completely contradictory in their posts.
A: I'm a farmer with a shotgun.
B: I'm a black hole which emits blinding pulses of visible light!

Puppetmaster:
Another overly common occurrence. They basically take control of others' characters, often to extremes. It is usually ok to make tiny little changes to another person's character; for example if your own character launches a fireball at a tree, it is safe to assume that other characters will probably watch the tree get hit, and thus you can comment on that.
Depending upon the extent to which they puppetmaster, this is not necessarily a form of munching.
A: I step carefully into the room, peering around for occupants.
B: Suddenly a dragon pokes you in the eye. You run screaming from the room, where after you go home, make a pickle sandwich, and call your mother to cry about how she ruined your life.

Quaker:
They can magically 'spawn' anything. Having a character which can retrieve things from pocket dimensions is not an excuse, unless said pocket dimension has a previously listed inventory which can be checked.
A: My character is wearing a form of armour only vulnerable to a drop of water from a holy well in South Dakota.
B: *He pulls out the vial of water from a holy well in South Dakota* "I don't know why I always carried this, but I knew it would come in useful one day."

Revisionist:
Another prevalent problem. They are akin to a McFly, but rather than trying to be an a*****e OOC, they try to be one IC instead. Their characters change their mind, thus causing an annoyance, but not necessarily munching.
A: You chose the blue pill? Ooh, tough luck.
B: Red! I said red!
Don't go pulling that "I can read your previous post" mind game crap, either!

Shoe elf:
Pretty obvious.
A: ((OOC: Well, gotta go to bed. Big neurosurgery test tomorrow.))
B: Ho, ho, ho! Now that the loser's gone to bed, I can strap his character to a cross and peg him with rotten fruit!

Speedhacker:
One of the worst we have to deal with.
A: I walk to the door and step outside.
B: Suddenly, twelve men grab you, carry you off to my secret lair in Tibet, and torture you for weeks. When you finally die from the agony, we bury you in the frozen wastes. Hundreds of years later, archaeologists discover your frozen body and try to determine if you're another Lucy.

Trinity:
The knowledge downloaders, the omniscient Billy Joe-Bobs. [Also known as Zoicites]
A: My character was raised by a gang leader in the harsh conditions of a slum. From this, he learned to wield small firearms fairly effectively and has limited driving abilities.
B: My character was born on a remote jungle island and can fly or drive anything and use any gun with perfect aim.

Twink:
Sometimes allowed in certain RPs. If the RP isn't specifically about invincible deities and such, a simple rule is that if the strengths aren't counterbalanced with relatively equivalent weaknesses (or if the reasoning behind the phenomenal cosmic powers isn't eloquently and appropriately explained), you're dealing with a twink.
A: A punch coming, eh? Well, seeing as you're a seven-year-old child and I'm riding in a twenty-meter mecha, I won't bother dodging.
B: Fooled you! I have the power to DESTROY EVERYTHING when I punch it! I'm just like an X-Man, and therefore require you to suspend all logic when RPing with me! Oh, and I have the power to steal your girlfriend, too.

"Strude"
GODMODING AND POWER PLAYERING - YEAH THERE IS A DIFFERENCE

For my first rant I was going to do something along the lines of literacy. Since we all know the debate behind it, the continuous war about length, ‘quality over quantity’ and the arbitrary crap about how the terms are wrong or right or something! I however decided against bitching about a huge topic like that, I’ll save it for later! I have instead decided to lean towards a lovely topic known as ‘god moding’ and ‘power playing’.

As we all know those are the two terms every role play, this side of the moon should know when walking into the RP game world! A game world that I would like to FOREWARN will suck your soul out of your eye sockets faster than WoW. On the other hand from my experience on Gaia I’ve come to think that people really don’t know what god moding and power playing is! Okay they GENERALLY know, which I guess is all you need on a site flooded with teenage romance role plays where god moding and power playing NEVER happen!

You see I started role playing in live chat rooms. This experience of role playing is far different then boards. I guess you could compare a live chat room to an instant messenger role play but add about, oh say 10 or more people in one IM window! Then the comparison is a little more accurate! Now this is where I learned of the terms ‘God Moding’ and ‘Power Playing’ I would like to mention they are two different but similar terms! I was taught that these terms relate to role play battles. They were terms used to label players that have their characters become over powered, dodge attacks, never take hits but somehow land all of their own, never die, come back alive after they’ve died (without the assist of a priest or shaman or someone with the ability to resurrect), claim they did not die or become invincible (god like). I also learned that god moding is different then power player.

Now let me take a trip down side track lane and allow me to state. I do not do role play battles; I am not skilled in that department. I have witnessed role play battles and have taken part in some, with a friend whom years ago had attempted to couch me through the gritty world of ‘Speed Battles’. I’m also basing this information on what I know from seven years of role playing. Some people have been at it longer then me and I could be wrong! So I can’t claim I’m 100% correct but I think that I’ll be able to define the differences between the two terms, bare with me!

To start lets define ‘god moding’ which by the name alone should scream “YOU’RE AN UNFAIR CHEATING a** WIPE!” and if it doesn’t then now it should! The term god moding can be broken down into two words ‘GOD’ and ‘MODE’ and defined by Dictionary.com Unabridged Version 1.1:

    ---------------God(Noun)
--------------------1.the one Supreme Being, the creator and ruler of the universe.

    ---------------Mode(Noun)
--------------------1.a manner of acting or doing; method; way: modern modes of transportation.

It can be seen that ‘god moding’ is a form of ultimate and unlimited control. This term to some people encompasses a WIDE rage of things, for me it labels one kind of player/character. This player is the one person who can’t admit defeat, a power player by nature who has finally snapped and decided that ‘HE/SHE IS THE ULTIMATE AND CAN NOT BE STOPPED’. Now remember this term was used for battles and a godmoder is that player whose character was killed legitimately and the player declares they did not die. They tend to take a position of ‘GOD’ or invincibility and kill off everything; they disregard all rules and f**k everything over. At which point in a live chat room they would be kicked for being a godmoder!

However here on Gaia a godmoder or the act of godmoding is a little different. Since most of the time the term isn’t used to define a battle situation but an overall problem of ‘character control’. What do you mean Strude? Well simply like with a battle godmoder (where the term was originally applied) a godmoder on Gaia is someone that takes control of characters. They do not just mention or make up something to fill in a blank within a story, by mentioning something that didn’t happen but makes logical sense by using other player’s characters. They literally control someone else’s character completely. Either killing off that person’s character, making the character do something against its players will and like a battle godmoder they play god and control all aspects of all characters and all situation!

So clearly a godmoder and the act of godmodding is simply someone with a severe case of egotism or pants on head retarded I R A SPOILED BRAT FEED ME PRAISE! How is a power player any different you are now asking and to amuse myself and to see if I can manage to prove a difference. I will now define a power player and hopefully do it right!

Lets look at the words power player and to do so lets refer back to dictionary.com unabridged version 1.1 and see what the two words mean:

    ---------------Power(noun)
--------------------1.ability to do or act; capability of doing or accomplishing something.
--------------------3.great or marked ability to do or act; strength; might; force.

    ---------------Player(Noun)
--------------------1.a person or thing that plays.
--------------------2.a person who takes part or is skilled in some game or sport.

From the definitions we can see that a power player is a player (the person controlling a character) who exerts power over a situation. The act of power playing is accentually a milder form of godmoding. Like godmoding power playing was used as a term to define a certain player within a battle situation. The difference being that a power player pulls stunts such as: dodging an attack from the opposing player when they are clearly in a position where a block is impossible.

A power player also dose things like adding abilities to their characters. Such as a magic attack they never originally had. Using an attack they never knew. Essential the player who power plays tweaks their character to somehow have the upper hand in a battle situation. They do not necessarily godmod they do allow you take get hits off, sometimes multiple hits but the flip is their character takes little to no damage for some reason or they heal themselves in the middle, when the character would have been unable to cast a heal. You see a power player dose follow the rules but they manipulate their character to over power the enemy!

On Gaia I’d like to say power playing is different but it really isn’t. The same idea applies but the way it is applied is different, simply because it relates to all aspects of characters, situations and plot as well as battle. You see a power player is simply someone that takes a moment to be better then the rest. They never went into ‘god mode’ and godmoded. They simply become for the time being a little better then everyone else. They usually revert to a normal status quo but it pisses people off none the less.

By this point in time I can assume you’re asking yourself what the hell is the point? I’m going to tell you that the point is that I find people on Gaia tend to lump the two terms ‘godmoding’ and ‘power player’ into one general act of ‘don’t control my character’. When clearly they are different for different reasons and should not be lumped together mindlessly.

So the next time you make a search thread or a set of rules you’ll be informed enough to know the difference. Godmoding, being a severe act that in any role play will result in an a** whooping from every Tom d**k and Harry this side of Barton Town. While power playing is simply something you should keep a check on and try not to do! However as mild as I might sound I will state you should NEVER godmod or power play, its cheap unfair and seriously its grade school behavior. Take your hits and stop trying to be god!

Writer's Block Information

Common Causes

~Unrealistic Goals~
If you've decided that you're going to write from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. every single day - no matter what - then you're probably pushing yourself too hard.Your writing will become dull and drab. The natural flow you once knew will temporarily escape to Writer's Block Island with the rest of your writing talents.
~Stress!~
We all know how stress can affect your mood. But stress can also affect your writing. For instance, say all you wanted to do was come home from work and write until bedtime. Your boss makes you stay late. Your supper was a half-cooked hamburger and cold fries from a local fast food restaurant. Your dog wants to go out. And all you want to do is crawl in bed and forget the entire day.As much as we try to carry a stiff upper lip, we're still human. External factors can affect our mood and ultimately affect our writing. Our focus shifts to all the bad things that happened in our day and writing becomes the last thing we want to do.

~Neglecting Our Writing~
Sometimes Writer's Block comes from not writing! Writing every day is essential to keeping those creative juices flowing. You don't have to make an impossible deal with yourself to write 100 pages of your manuscript in one sitting. Taking as little as 10 minutes a day helps keep you writing and words will flow from your mind much easier.

~Perfectionism~
The perfect paragraph, word after word, is a carefully constructed piece of art. But hanging yourself up on creating that perfect paragraph will win you an all-expense paid trip to Writer's Block Island.f you run into this problem, give yourself and your writing a cooling off period. After a couple of days, re-visit your work and see where or even if it needs improvement. Your mind will be fresh and clear, giving you a whole new perspective on your own writing.

~Research-Related~
A lot of writers don't realize how research can even be a hangup. Maybe you can't finish your crime novel because you don't know how police would handle a certain situation in reality.

Sometimes the answer isn't so obvious and we try to write our way around it. All we really need to do is a little more research.

Possible Cures

The Cure!
After you've beat your fists on the keyboard and taken two aspirin for that migraine, try these cures for writer's block:

~Revisit~
Re-read some of your previous works. Maybe it was a journal entry. Perhaps you wrote a poem once. It doesn't matter if you're working on a novel. You can still gain insight and even inspiration from something else you've written.

~Change of Scenery~
How many times have you heard a song that reminds you of something? Perhaps you heard that song a dozen times a day when you were in college. So that particular song brings back memories. The same goes for scenery in your every day life.If you're sitting in the same room, day after day, the scenery's going to get old. That scenery starts to remind you that you're not writing. That you're stuck in what seems like a hopeless case of Writer's Block. The solution is simple. Seek out a change of pace. Go for a walk. Take a drive.

~Rewrite Another's Work~
Check out a newspaper or magazine article. Now rewrite that story from a new angle. Maybe a young girl was kidnapped. Police are still looking for the suspect and the little girl.Your version of the story might portray the young girl as the daughter of a lawyer. Perhaps one of his clients wasn't happy with the way his own daughter's murder trial was handled. So he kidnapped the defending lawyer's pride and joy.

~Use Real Pictures~
Flip through a magazine. Cut out pictures, headlines, even certain blocks of text. Now write a short story based on your clippings. For example, you might cut out a picture of a man riding a bicycle on page 14 of your favorite magazine. On page 22 you cut out a quote that says, "Anyone caught doing this will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."Your story could turn into one man's crusade. Perhaps this man's riding his bicycle across country because he's outraged by automobile pollution levels. His point is to raise people's awareness about the effects of pollution.Meanwhile, police keep hindering his efforts because the man's riding his bicycle on the freeway, a violation of the law. So you have a man on his bicycle and the police quote, "Anyone caught doing this will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."

~Doodle~
Yes! You were scolded in elementary school for doodling on your paper. Now you have full permission.Free your mind while scribbling. No need to think about your character's next move. No plot structures to consider. Just a sense of connecting your pen to paper.

~Object Focus~
Take a look around you. Does something catch your eye? Even something as simple as a stapler. Describe an object in full detail. Start with its size, shape, color.

~Building Blocks~
Romance. Mystery. Thrillers. All genres have their own keywords. Build keywords from your own genre. If you're a romance writer, you could come up with words like love, marriage, betrayal, lust, happiness. Jot down as many words as you can think of.

~Life Events~
The birth of a child. Holidays. Graduation. Weddings. We all have our favorite life events. Pick one of your own and write down all your thoughts and feelings about that day. Turn it into a story.

~Network~
Many authors beat Writer's Block or avoid it altogether by networking with their fellow writers. Bulletin boards, chats and writer's Web sites all offer you the chance to meet other authors and work your way through the many facets of fiction writing.Think of talking with other writers as your own personal support group.

Writer's Block may attack you at some point in your writing career but always remember:

WB isn't fatal.

Overcoming WB is not impossible.

WB's only temporary.

Mkay, I'll give it a shot (i hope you don't mind but i broke up the sentences to make it a bit easier):

Uto awoke in a weird room with chains attached to her hands an neck, "Wha? where am i?" she said scared "SOMEONE HELP!!!!!" a man walked into the room with a mask on.

"who....who are you?" she said. the man didn't respond "i said... WHO THE f**k ARE YOU?" she said now angrier than ever.

He took out a whip with barbed hooks and razor wire attatched to the ends, she screamed for help but nobody responded.

She scremed in pain from the whips until the man had enough of it an put a gag ball around her mouth to shut her up.

Her screams were muffled by the ball as the whip marks grew bloodier by the minute until her entire back was blood-red, he stopped and gave her a rapist's kiss on her cheek and left the room.

The chains fell and she layed there covered in her own blood...

(sorry man, i have writer's block, i can't think of any more to write.)

Unacceptable.
Six sentences, just a mere four away from the most simple goal I gave you.

Hmm....

Delete your very first post so I can edit mine into a Writer's Block cure.
