◈Powers◈
xxxx↬ Master of Arms: Michael is adept with nearly every weapon (improvised weapons don't count); while he prefers his greatsword, he can wield guns and other modern weapons just as easily. As the leader of Heaven's armies for millenia, his strength, speed, and endurance in combat is difficult to surpass.
xxxx↬ Relics of Faith: Michael calls forth the weapons and armor wielded by those who have died for a just cause. If used to summon weapons they plummet from the sky like falling stars, to be wielded by Michael or those of his choosing.
xxxx↬ Defense of the Just: In his aspect as guardian of the faithful, Michael can summon transparent barriers of energy around one or more targets, protecting them from physical and magical attack. Multiple targets make it more difficult for Michael to maintain the barriers, and the shields can be broken when under sufficient strain.
xxxx↬ Lure of Flame: Though banished from Heaven, Michael can still call down holy fire: Shaped by Michael's will, red-gold flames envelop the haughty and the prideful, the oppressors and the false kings. Lure of Flame will not harm those who are innocent of sin, but it's said that, should Michael ever fall to darkness, the divine inferno will scourge the earth until naught remains but ash.
℘ℯrsonality✺
Michael is steadfast in his faith, which gives him determination enough to move the stars; while his loyalty to God and Heaven may blind him to other facets of the world, he ultimately wants what's best for both humans and the angels who follow him, and will sacrifice himself if it will drive back the Dark. Passionate, fiery, and charismatic, Michael has a talent for rallying people and pursues his goals with zeal: Honorable to a fault, Michael tends to see things in black and white and has little patience for compromise. A warrior by nature, he's not innately violent but considers the Illuminati to be beyond forgiveness: They've made their decision, and must be judged accordingly. The bulk of Michael's wrath is directed towards Lucifer, Lilith, and the other higher-ranking angels among the Illuminati, as Michael believes that they should know better than to have given up so easily. Michael respects Gabriel but considers her too soft-hearted to do what must be done, thinking it foolish to reach out to those who would destroy the best of God's work.
ℋistory✺
Some disagree on the first angel to be created: Some say Michael, others, Lucifer. No-one, however, has ever had to wonder who was the most devoted: For eons, Michael led the armies of Heaven against the darkness, championing Heaven's cause. Though a soldier to his core, Michael was also a protector, the bright shield of the faithful and the just, guiding good souls as they ascended to Heaven.
Therefore, none was more stunned by God's declaration of exile than Michael. His faith, however, did not waver, and once he had regained his footing, he became convinced that God's actions were a test: If the exiles were faithful, God would recognize their earnestness and they would be allowed to return. Michael's words reached many, and they flocked to his banner as they had done before the Fall; others, however, let their faith falter, becoming the Illuminati. Such betrayal enraged Michael, who finally understood the reason for their exile: God had seen the pettiness in the hearts of the Fallen. To prove themselves worthy of Heaven, those angels who remain loyal to the Lord must excise the blight on Creation that the Illuminati have become.
Today, Michael serves much the same role as he always has, a rallying-point for the Seraphim and a leader on the field. As the war with the Illuminati has grown more feverish, Michael's other roles have slowly waned: While he still considers it his duty to protect Man, the destruction of the Illuminati comes first. This has become a point of contention between Michael and Gabriel, joint leader of the Seraphim, who favors a less-martial path.
