Welcome to Pokérus, my latest creation. This role play had been
looming in my mind for some time now and I could not decide whether
to create a role play arund the plot or an adventure/suspense fan fiction
story. I eventually decided on a role play, just to see where it would
lead, and so here it is. Now to make it clear before you read on, I am
planning on making this role play as realistic as Pokémon can get. So,
I'm going to bring in more than just adventure and friendship. There will
be mature themes expressed throughout this role play, including murder
of humans and pokémon. There is, however, a slight difference. Most
Pokémon role plays these days are made with accomplished trainers in
mind, where all of the characters have teams that are already trained to
high levels. In this role play, the trainers are just starting out, even the
antagonists. For more information on this, you'll have to read on. Oh, and
try not to get infected by

For a time, there was darkness. It knew not of its natural enemy, light. It just filled the vast universe with its presence with nothing to compete with it or threaten it. No planets, no stars, no life. Darkness had no responsibilities, nor goals, it just existed. For a long, long time, this was the way things were, a complete emptiness that kept the darkness content. That changed one day, when a glowing round shape appeared among their midst. For a time, the darkness ignored the figure, it did not threaten their existence, nor did it seem to notice the darkness was around. Though the darkness felt something, it was worry, for indeed, whatever was in the shape was alive.

After a long time of uneasiness, the darkness relaxed, they had nothing to fear from the figure. This however proved to be a mistake, as soon as its uneasiness faded, the shape cracked open, revealing it to be a large glowing figure. Around its body, many colored squares rotated and its body radiated light that pierced and pained the darkness. Shocked, the darkness retreated from the figure as it stared at the empty universe with red eyes.

With the swift legs of a deer, the figure started to dart among the darkness, leaving stars in its wake. Its white coat keeping the darkness at bay wherever it went while it's long mane flowed behind it. Silently, yet swiftly it filled the universe with the stars from its fur, yet it did not make the figure any less magnificent. Finally, the figure stopped when it came to an area that interested it. This area had been capable of keeping the darkness away without help from the newborn entity, though it was a losing battle.

This interest grew into affection for the small area that shared the entity's personality. So with great care, the pokémon, for that is what it was, breathed on the vast space. Slowly, a sphere started to grow, completely black. The pokémon then breathed once more and two immense figures appeared before it. One was blue with four legs, while the other pink with two. Both pokémon stood humbly by the white pokémon’s side while it continued its work.

Once again, the pokémon breathed and a two legged red pokémon appeared along with a blue pokémon with fins. The pokémon that banished the darkness sent the two onto the newly created sphere, and even as the three pokémon watched, color started to appear in the planet. The red pokémon went across the world, raising its sharp claws to raise the earth. Continents, countries, plateaus and more were created under the pokémon’s capable hands. Meanwhile, the blue pokémon floated across the world filling the place with rain and causing plants to grow, it also filled the places the red pokémon missed with water, rivers, streams, oceans and more. When there was enough water to make a patch of the planet blue, the pokémon glided into the water and swam the rest of its voyage to fill the world with water.

This continued for an immeasurable amount of time, for time did not yet exist, while the three pokémon of time, space, and existence watched on. After a time, the new planet filled with blue and green (After the pokémon of existence created a sun to keep them alive). Soon enough however, something happened the pokémon of existence did not anticipate, the blue and red pokémon met. As soon as the two spotted each other, they knew that the other would threaten their mission. With a booming roar, the two pokémon clashed. The red pokémon tore at the blue with its terrible claws while the blue pokémon defended with its tail and tall teeth.

The pokémon of existence was worried, the red pokémon kept the sun shining while the blue pokémon allowed rain to come forth onto its beloved planet. It had to intervene, and did so by creating clouds that surrounded the planet's atmosphere. In the clouds danced a green serpent, which dived down towards the red and blue pokémon and ended their feud, sending one into the center of the earth, and the other in the deepest darkest depths of the ocean, where they couldn't be disturbed so that they may continue their assignments privately. Satisfied, the pokémon of existence finally nodded towards the two pokémon by its sides. The pink pokémon disappeared into oblivion to keep the world's laws of physics in order, while the blue pokémon mimicked its master and breathed on the planet.

Slowly, the planet started to spin and circle the sun that kept it alive, and so time started. A rift appeared next to the blue time master and this pokémon also disappeared. But the existence pokémon was wise, he breathed once more and created three small figures that would be able to stop the blue and pink pokémon should they ever clash, for they were also opposite and abilities and therefore potential enemies. Before he sent them off however, he breathed once more, and created life.

Two legged spindly creatures that were not pokémon, they were assigned to be friends of the pokémon and bring order to the planet. They were humans, and the existence pokémon finally sent the three pokémon in front of him to the earth. They giggled and gave every living moving creature on earth their precious gifts: Emotions, Knowledge, and the greatest of all, Willpower. After this was done, they hid on different areas of the planet, keeping an eye out for the blue and pink pokémon. With a smile, the existence pokémon nodded and shrunk, creating a dimension no one could ever enter or call it from unless they truly needed it as the plates surrounding its great body shot off to various areas on the planet along with seven other figures that glowed a heavenly golden hue. The creation pokémon has slept here since.

The vast, mountainous region of Sinnoh, home to humans and pokémon alike, home to the famous Professor Rowan and a region unlike any other. Archaeological excavation had been constantly conducted by the Sinnoh Archaeology and Historical Investigation Association (SAHIA) since the establishment of this prosperous region, where they found a number of new myths and prophecies. One myth, however, caught the interest of one Archaeologist by the name of Lady Arianna Evans: The legend of Arceus and the creation of the universe.

Sure, sure, I know what you're thinking. We all know about the creation myth. However, Lady Evans' was a significant find to both historians and religious people alike. Many tablets on the subject were found, all reciting the same epic story of how Arceus created light in the black, and this emphasized the opinions of the worshippers of Arceus. One such tablet, however, was Evans' most prized find. Deciphering the curves and dots of the ancient text was the most difficult here, which caused Evans grief, but as she got through, the words brought her to a state of astonishment and awe. The tattered tablet told a myth that brought shock and excitement to any who would believe it. On the crumbling clump of stone, the faded script of an ancient civilization wrote:


"... and from Arc ... seven winged pokémon ... to defend ... eus' light from ... darkness."

At the exact same site, on a worn wall of an ancient altar, a large fresco was found, the ink faded to the same extent, yet it was a lot easier to fill in the gaps. The fresco was a portrait of one of the seven winged pokémon on the tablet. The pokémon, although resembling a mixture of a castform and a togepi, looked nothing like any pokémon ever seen before.





The newly-dubbed 'Arcelis' (AR-kel-ess) after the creation pokémon itself became a huge focal study of most scientists. Pokémon Champion, Cynthia of Celestic Town took a particular interest in this, as has Professor Rowan, who has asked all trainers as they travel the country to collect information on the seven angel pokémon and any other pokémon they meet. The Professor began anufacturing new Pokédexes, each havang been fused with a Pokétch, Poké Radar, PokéGear and PokéNav, looking much like a large wrist watch that can be used for almost anything. These new Pokédexes have been on Pokémart shelves for a simple cost of 10, 000 Pokédollars each, and are now essential for every trainer who has taken up the Professor's quest.

Lurking underneath, however, is an evil syndicate unheard of to anybody but those who have joined. Although they are fairly new, they are extremely organized and very persuasive. They are led by an young preacher who has taken the myth to an extreme. This is all that is known about the organization, as their purpose in full is kept to the leader himself. What's more is they are completely camouflaged into society. Unlike Team Rocket, Magma, Aqua and Galactic, they wear no uniforms or have any posessions that show they they are of the group.

As trainers, coordinators or just travellers, you have been warned. Hopefully you can put a stop to them before they pull anything too outrageous.

literacy and posting
I used to have a rule about literacy. Screw that, as long as I can tell what you're saying, I'm fine. But please keep to the standard narration of third person. Y'know -- novel. Make it clear what you're saying. Post length isn't really necessary, especially in battles. There's not much to post other than the trainer calling out the order and the attack being made, so, meh. But! Because I'm being slack on literacy does not mean I don't expect you to write to the best of your ability. I expect writing as good as you would hand in to your english teacher - and I don't care if you don't have an english teacher anymore, the point is, I expect you to write to the best of your ability. As for posting, I do adore prettied-up posts - would you be so kind? It doesn't matter if you don't know how, as long as you know how to use a font under size 12. I hate size 12 font, sorry. I'd like to see colours, but not any colours, I want colouts that actually look good together. Colours that don't clash. That'd be nice.

I want you to obey every single one. That means I want everything to be kept at a pg-13 level. That means there will be no cybering on this thread, there will be no cybering in personal messages. There will just be none. Gore's cool. We're all mature 13-year-olds, aren't we? We can handle a little blood, can't we? Also, swearing... depends on your character. I don't expect a foul-mouthed character to run around saying "oh, fiddlesticks", do you? No. So swearing should really just be used if your character's the type who swears a lot. This is pokémon in a realistic world, a world of pain, disease, illegalities.

First of all, let's just clear up that there should not be ANY real-pictured characters in this role play, ONLY anime, no matter what. Pokémon was always an anime, it was never a television series based with real actors and will never be that way. Follow my Profile Outline. I don't want anything else. You may add in quotes and little icons at the top and bottom whilst you makeit, just don't change it from how it is now. DO NOT MAKE YOUR PERSONALITIES ALL THE SAME! I want variety and imagination. Also, stick to your personality. If you talk of a depressed loner in the personality section, I don't want to see a hyperactive character flipping around Sinnoh. Is that it? No. I have two cute little fellows to show you first. </ holds up perfect-looking puppets > This is Mary-Sue and Gary-Stu. They're perfect in every way. I want your characters not to be anything like them. Like I said, this is a more realistic side to pokémon. Realistic people have flaws. Profiles will not be a first-come-first-serve thing. I'm making you guys to compete for your places. That is to say, more than one person can apply for one spot, but only one person can get the spot. For this to happen, you try to create the best, most unique character, yet still follow the brief description given. The best profile is awarded the spot, the loser will either have to pick another character or leave. I know, frustrating, right? That's just how it is.

The Profile Dump linked in the first post is where you'll post your completed characters, even if they haven't been accepted. The skeleton and background check is also here. When you dump your profile, make sure you include the 300x150 rounded picture of your character, their name, their title and the link to the thread.


battling and obtaining pokémon
Battling and such in this rolep lay is going to be done EXACTLY like the games. No chain attacks, which means you can't attack twice in a row. The order goes Fastest Pokemon to slowest to fastest to slowest. One attack each. When using ites, that takes up a turn, so it goes fastest pokemon to slowest pokemon to item to slowest pokemon. Get it? Good. Now I also have to stress levels. Yes, in this roleplay the pokemon will have levels. And it would be wise to note that the levels MEAN something. If your character sends a level 3 caterpie into battle against a level 55 salamence, chances are the Salamence will win. Your pokemon also should have four moves. These should correspoind to the level your pokemon is at, so if your Scyther is at level 20, it shouldn't have any attacks other than four of the attacks it had learnt beforehand. Go to www.serebii.net/pokedex-dp for information on attacks and levels.

Your first pokémon, unlike all other pokémon-trainer-journey role plays, will not be obtained through Professor Rowan. Instead, you'll have to get it on your own, in your first post. The way your character gets the pokémon, however, is entirely up to you. To catch a pokémon, you'll need a pokéball, of course. Any kind will do, Master Balls are not allowed, though. Once the pokéball is thrown, end the post and I will tell you in OOC if the capture was successful. If failed, the pokémon will attack again. Make sure the pokémon is in the right place, though. I don't want anyone catching a Carvanha in the middle of the desert. Once a pokéball is used, it cannot be used again. It is broken. You can't use it again. Keep track of your inventory by listing it somewhere in your post layout. The same goes with your pokemon, a list of them will keep you organized.

Okay. Joining one of my role plays is a commitment. Hear that? A commitment. If you're not going to stick around, leave now. I don't want anything to do with anyone who likes to join role plays and then fall off the face of the earth. Another thing is that if you are going to join, I need to know how much I can expect you to post. That is to say, I want a background check. This is to let me know exactly when you would be online and for how long and to know how good your writing is. Thirdly! You are going to have to know that I do not give out any more than one chance to those who do badly by the rules. You break a rule, you've just earned ourself a place on the i'm-never-going-to-be-on-the-white-list list. Second time, you're booted and your name goes on the black list and you will be banned from most of my future role plays as well. You have been told you have the makings of a future champion, by your parents, your granparents, your uncles and aunts, and that has been enough to get you up and ready to take on anything. It's a pity, though, that you're a complete fool. You've never been one for study, and thus have no idea how to handle a pokémon. Since a young age you have asked your parents almost daily if you could have a pokémon, though they've always replied with "no, not until you are sixteen-and-a-half years old". Well you've been ten for a whole month now, and they still haven't gotten you anything. Well, now's the time to change it. You've just gone out and obtained that absolutely awesome first pokémon you've wanted for so long now. Unfortunately, the awesome pokémon really isn't as awesome as you thought. It's actually on your list of pokémon you never wanted on your team.

It's a pity, however, that your first ever pokémon was actually one of the ugliest pokémon ever to exist. You wanted something you could work with, not this catastrophe! Ah, yes, your ugly side. Being beautiful, talented and smart comes with a price. Your vanity is unmatched, and you are a real brat. If something happens to not go your way, you kick and scream until it does. My, you're quite the chilled out critter, aren't you? You are the one who wings it, everything he does. Lazy and often disinterested, hard work is your enemy. You win your wars with sheer luck -- luck that had always been on your side since you were born. Laziness, however, doesn't mean you don't work. You work, but do it at your own pace, unlike all those other trainers who can zip around, attacking every moving ovject they see. You prefer to take it slow, learn your opponent and then decide if you want to battle or not. Your first pokémon, however, is nothing like that. Your first pokémon expected a trainer who would constantly train and battle until the late hours of nights just to be stronger, and therefore shows absolute envy towards those kinds of trainers' pokémon. You also haven't decided where you want to be in this journey. Coordinating seems extremely challenging, especially against one certain girl, being a trainer seems exceptionally thrilling, and breeding is quite intriguing. The more you think about it, the more you can't decide.

After giving you orders to help some trainers save thw world, it disappeared, leaving you alone in the alleyway. If you had any religious beliefs before, they had just been given a gigantic boost. You are a complete preacher of Arceus and the seven Arceli. This had caused you to wait for just the right pokémon to represent that in you, and when that pokémon appeared, you were quick to obtain it.

You have strange psychic powers that you cannot control, and are very often accidentally lifting a person or pokémon or object into the air. For this, even your family has detested you since birth. Poor thing, you're just misunderstood. You may look a little odd psysically and you have those psychic abilities, but does that give yu a right to be alienated? Instead of dwelling on your problems, though, you have decided to take steps to fix it. You have developed a theory that if you capture a psychic-type pokémon, they could mentor you, teach you to control your powers and eventually stop them from ever causing you social harm again. Psychic pokémon are a lot harder to keep in one spot of than you thought, however, and so you had to settle with your first pokémon being of another type.

Here's the deal. You're the kind of person who will go to any length to get what they want, even breaking the law. Since the Team Galactic incident, the Sinnoh Government had completely made all suspicious syndicates illegal. You've dodged their bullet by creating your own Team Omega and covering it up as a club for disabled people to find emotional and refuge, so that you can capture these seven Angel pokémon and use them to take over the world. You never felt the need to go on a pokémon journey until the Arcelis were discovered, and so you've recently caught your first and even second pokémon, which you are now training up so that if any meddlesome brats decide to pull a Lucas-Dawn-Barry on you, you can just crush them beneath you. Because that's what a malevolent, self-absorbed Leader does, right?

You are a complete psychopath. Anybody who knows you knows that you have the ability to kill at any time, particularly when angered. You came from the womb with the same mind you have now, the mind of a serial killer. You can't help it, killing is a compulsive thing for you. However, you're no Dexter Morgan. You enjoy killing innocent human beings, it brings you a state of utter contentness. You joined Team Omega as a hitman, having learnt to kill efficiently and swiftly. The Leader said, at first, you couldn't join without a pokémon. Therefore, you went out, killed the first trainer you saw and took his pokémon. It took less than an hour. The leader, interested in how the pokémon was obtained, was not at all scared, more intrigued. Thus, he promoted you to the level you are now at, and with your trusty pokémon, you now see yourself as the second-in-command to the leader, ready to serve under him in the new world order he creates after obtaining the seven Arcelis.

You were a low-ranking grunt, only in Team Omega for the money, until you accidentally stumbled across the Boss' personal computer. Being the insanely curious person you were, you had no choice but to look at it, and with those computing skills you picked up in highschool, you were able to find a peculiar file. This file was of the Boss' plans to capture all seven Arcelis and rule the world. Being the ambitious grunt you were, you vowed to crawl up in the ranks and eventually betray the leader, taking their position as the ruler of the world. But first, you needed to gain their trust, and catching a powerful and rare pokémon was just the way to do that. After various methods of trying to track down a legendary pokémon, you've still found nothing. You will one day, though, and from there, it's only a few more steps until the entire world bows to the mere mentioning of your name.

Your once-wealthy family has now become almost homeless. The loss of the family business and the death of a large number of family members has stripped you of all your money and now you have decided that the only way you can bring back your family's wealthy legacy is to obtain as much money as possible, weather it be through stealing from the rich or joining the world's newest, deadliest crime syndicate: Team Omega. Reluctantly, you chose Team Omega for the safety. They gave you protection from the law and protection from nature by giving you your first ever pokémon. You never had time for creatures such as pokémon, you never really cared for them. They were a burden, filthy and always making noise and needing nurturing. Now that you have your own, however, you feel some sort of connection to it. You now realise the joys of owning a pokémon, and so you want more. To continue your family's legacy, you will take the aid of every pokémon you catch. Team Omega? When your funds are up, you'll just leave them. You don't realise, however, that leaving the team is a death setence.

You are the top recruiter of men in the entire team, able to seduce any man in signing up and for this, you have been paid in the elegant, yet powerful pokémon you carry with you. You've never had time for more than sex in your life, always finding relationships to be time-consuming and effortful. That and you feel that no man could ever be worthy of somebody like you. It's not like you ever wanted to find love, or create a family with tiny versions of you running around... or did you?

Starting a journey was meant to be the most exciting thing of your life, and it was for the first few days. Your new pokémon was really cool, and probably abl to take doen half the gyms alone, but then the creepy man came and told you that to become stronger you needed guidance. You didn't know what that meant, but the idea of getting stronger intrigued you. And so you went with the man, who took you to a large building with more creepy people but they all had really strong-looking pokémon, so you continued to follow. Unknowingly, you have now been assigned to a group of other young trainers who are supposedly going to try to put an end to Team Omega.You're too gullible and ditzy, however, to know that Team Omega's the real enemy, not the kids you've been assigned to travel with. At least you can now go on that journey you wanted before, right?

You are unique, mysterious and strange. You are a worshipper of Darkrai and Girantina, and you show it. You tend to enjoy sticking to the shadows, keeping yourself as ghostly as your pokémon. Like those ninja kids, you're excellent at hiding yourself and gathering information. Your personality quirks has had you shunned from regular society and, seeking refuge, you joined Team Omega, where people treated you like a normal human being, despite your superstitious attitudes to everything and your occasional spiritual rants. Because of your skills in becoming "invisible", the boss has trusted you with missions of stealth, which you carry out to the best of your ability. And who wouldn't, if they were being paid like you were?

TROOPING TRAINERS
All-year round, trainers of all ages begin their journey in the Sinnoh region, but very few ever make it far. Now, most often the journey-ers are children, all ready to train hard and become the greatest pokémon trainers and coordinators in the world. However, a few new trainers are actually just reaching adulthood, the reason being because they have all been suffering from both mental and physical disabilities. The Omega Disabled Trainer's Union has just begun a new service, allowing people who have never been able to raise and compete with their pokémon to actually go out and achieve their goals with Team Omega behind them, acting as guides.

The Omega Disabled Training Program will be visiting Oreburgh Gym this thursday for their first gym battles. Sinnoh News will be there, covering each battle and reporting on this magnificent opportunity.



NEW LAWS ON TRAINING AGE
After a three-year debate, the Sinnoh Parliament has decided to change that age to sixteen years and six months. At this age trainers are eligible for their license to catch and train pokémon. The reason behind this is that it ensures the trainers are mature enough to go out into the world and know how to keep themselves alive. A lot of children go missing in the other reasons because they are so young and can't defend themselves properly, even with a pokémon companion. This law also hightens the rate of success of trainers as during the six years extra, they are sent to a trainer's school and taught how to survive in the wild. After passing the exams, a trainer's license is issued an only now can the aspiring trainers catch and train pokémon.

Furthermore, the Sinnoh region does not allow trainers from any other region in unless they are of age. This law, however, may change in the future as it is a current topic of debate in Sinnoh's parliament.

"It's a fair decision on both parents and children. It is most likely to impact beneficially on the immigration rates, because all parents want their children to be safe, and this law ensures that." - Prime Minister Alfred Dickens.
