IC thread --- OOC thread

Everyone has a secret. Something they hide away from others. A secret they do not wish to admit about themselves. So they hide it away deep within themselves, never telling, never sharing.

The city of Yumegawa was once a quiet, tranquil place. Nothing out of the ordinary really happened there. However, it all changed when the first victim was found. The police tried to cover up the details, but the people knew; someone had not just been killed, but had gone through violent torture it seemed.

And it was not the last...

Over the course of a few weeks, more victims were found, scattered across the city. A rumour surfaced, about how the victims had died due to nightmares made reality. Apparently every one of the victims had suffered from strange dreams prior to their sudden death, and the rumour went:

“If you die in your dream, you'll turn up dead in the real world.”

Rumour or not, people began fearing for their lives, and the lives of their children, but the police, though still clueless to what was happening, promised them that they would solve the case and catch the killer.

For a while now, you have been having strange dreams on occasion, waking up the next day as if you have not slept at all. In the dreams you wander the empty streets of Yumegawa, the sky a dark crimson, and the buildings creating long shadows. As of yet, you have not seen anyone else in your dream, but you have always felt watched, as if something was hiding in the shadows, blending in with them...

Do you have the courage to face what is hiding in the darkness? Do you have the courage to accept yourself for who you are? Welcome to Persona: Sleepless Dreams...

“He who dares, wins big! No risk, no gain!”

Nickname: His professional moniker is just TM.
Gender: Male
Preference: Bisexual
Age: 24
Birthday: January 1
Height: 6'2"
Job: Photojournalist, often working in digital media./ Art teacher
Accessories:
♦ Multiple piercings in each ear
♦ Gold-plated lighter
♦ Black-bladed ceramic folding-knife

Strengths:
✔ Resourceful
✔ Daring
✔ Well-connected (if not necessarily in upper-class circles)
✔ Worldly

Weaknesses:
✘ Brash
✘ Over-confident
✘ Can fixate on his goals ( "getting the scoop" )
✘ Overly casual

Likes:
✔ His job!
✔ Intriguing people of either gender
✔ Traveling and experiencing new things
✔ Teasing his siblings

Dislikes:
✘ Waiting, especially in lines
✘ Being stonewalled
✘ Long travel-time
✘ Having to talk to his parents, especially his father

Personality: For the most part, Touya is exactly what he seems to be: An outgoing, mostly-charming, sometimes-infuriating man with a lust for life and a knack for getting himself into trouble. Though he's capable of restraining himself, and approaches his job with a focus that surprises those who've never seen him serious before, Touya believes that life is meant to be enjoyed: He brushes off people who claim that he needs to straighten up or settle down, and fully intends to do what he's doing until he can't do it anymore. Affecting a worldly, seen-it-all vibe, and with no shortage of interesting stories he loves to tell, Touya immerses himself in his current assignment, learning all that he can about his target culture, from their language to their art. When he feels he's learned enough, he moves on. This devil-may-care attitude carries over to his personal life; while he usually doesn't intend to break hearts, or piss anyone off, being tied down to one person means being tied down to one place, which to Touya is a fate worse than death.

Touya really does care about his family, but circumstances have made things difficult: He still believes he was right to leave, and refuses to speak to or even talk about his father in any real way. He's easier on his mother, calling her to reassure her that he's all right, and even sending the family in Japan souvenirs; he does the same with Midori, though he's not as close to her as he is to Kiyoshi, and is aware that Midori feels the same way. Still, Touya still sees himself as their big brother, and will do whatever he can if he thinks they'll benefit. Touya tends to be a big eater in 'civilization,' thanks to the number of places where the food isn't so good, and has an excess of nervous energy, often going for runs or swims or just working out. Though he doesn't like to talk about his stint with the military, some things - like his ability to pack and make a rack - remain, almost unconsciously. He still has a problem with authority, too, and may take stupid or dangerous risks just because someone tells him not to.

History: For the first five years of his life, Touya was a normal Japanese schoolkid, attending kindergarten, learning childrens' songs, and watching Doraemon. When his younger brother, Kiyoshi, was born, Touya wasn't too impressed, but his parents made it clear that he was supposed to look out for the new arrival; it didn't take long for Touya to become a proud big brother, though it sometimes led to his enthusiasm (i.e. teaching Kiyoshi to ride a bike) getting the better of common sense (i.e. letting go too early). As he grew up, it was plain that Touya was a bright if somewhat hyperactive child, and while he showed little interest in schoolwork, his parents and teachers believed it would come in time.

When Touya was in elementary school, his parents uprooted the family from Japan and moved them to the United States. The transition was relatively easy for the confident child, whose Japanese accent vanished quickly as he took up skateboarding and baseball like all the other kids on base. During these years, the family's youngest child was born, and it was Touya's turn to remind Kiyoshi that he had to be a good older brother. As the eldest, Touya was most aware when their parents began to argue: Frustrated and angry, he began skipping school and blowing off his family, seeing his brother and sister less often and usually winding up in arguments with his father. When Touya barely managed to graduate high school, his father insisted that Touya join the military and "shape up"; impulsively agreeing on the teenage urge to "prove Dad wrong," Touya wound up in basic training, deciding on the Navy rather than following David Monroe's footsteps into the Army.

Touya was, in some ways, lucky: Always having been an athlete, and used to discipline in clothes and bed-folding thanks to his upbringing, Touya made it through boot camp and followed it up with Officer Candidate School, receiving high marks in performance but with a record tainted by conflict with authority. At the end of twelve months, Touya took his skills and left, traveling the world with little more than the clothes on his back and a digital camera. His photos attracted enough attention online that he was eventually offered a guest gallery on a well-known digital magazine: When one of his images won a fairly-prestigious offline award, Touya was finally able to create something like a career. These days, Touya rarely spends more than a few months in any given place, though these 'missions' can stretch longer as-needed: A freelance photojournalist whose art and fluff pieces have gradually grown to include the black market in Eastern Europe, the slums of Southeast Asia, and even African warzones, Touya only rarely contacts his mother and hasn't spoken to his father since he left OCS. He sometimes calls Midori, though he communicates much more regularly with Kiyoshi via email.

Other: Touya's knife lacks the standard metal interior, which means it passes through most security systems undetected; he's actually fairly dangerous with it, having built on his training through experience defending himself, but usually just uses it to show off. Having acquired considerable skill at disguising himself - usually for his own safety - Touya's become quite adept; currently, the remnants of blond dye are fading from his tips. Touya was on the swim team in high school and still enjoys going for a dip whenever possible.

“Humans are simply animals capable of ******** up.”

Nickname: Yami
Gender: Male
Preference: Heterosexual
Age: Eighteen
Birthday: Second of April
Height: 5'9"
School year: Third
Soul Weapon: Spear
Arcana: Judgement
Accessories:
♦ A notebook for sketching and writing down ideas.

Strengths:
✔ Creativity
✔ Empathy
✔ Impressive ability to take hits
✔ Intensely loyal

Weaknesses:
✘ Quick to tire
✘ Often lazy
✘ Low self confidence
✘ Tends to be moody

Likes:
✔ Doing creative stuff, such as writing or drawing.
✔ Simple pleasures
✔ Teddy bears
✔ Learning new things(preferably what others consider useless)
✔ Video games

Dislikes:
✘ Being controlled
✘ Sports
✘ Arrogance
✘ Large crowds
✘ Spiders

Personality:
Masaru is a tricky person when it comes to personality. He has a tendency to be moody, switching between a happy-go lucky type of character, which surfaces when around people he trust, and a depressive state. He is plagued by loneliness, but also does not wish to get too involved with people due to his past experiences. He has an interest in all things occult and mythological, and is an outspoken(as much as anyone who never speaks to people could be) LaVayan Satanist. If anyone would be able to peel off his shell and get to know him, they will quickly find out that Masaru is a kind-hearted and intensely loyal friend, who would do anything to protect those he holds dear. However, he can also be a bit judgemental, choosing who to like and dislike based on his first impression and gut feeling. Another contrast to his personality is that, while kind-hearted to those he care about and respectful to those he do not know, he can seem utterly ruthless and uncaring when it comes to those he dislikes. He is also prone to holding grudges. He also have trouble making large decisions and has little self confidence.

History:
Yamigawa Masaru was born to Yamigawa Daisuke and Yamigawa Rin one spring morning. He was a healthy child, and as he grew up, he was happy with the world the way it was. However, when it was time for him to start elementary school at the age of six, things started to change. The boy was alienated from the other children, many of whom found him scary for reasons mostly unknown, though for some it was due to his dark sounding last name.

This continued on through Junior high, but by then, Masaru no longer cared. He kept mostly to himself, talking to no one unless he had to. People eventually grew bored with him merely tapping away at his gameboy, while they tried to pick on him. However, during his second year, things started to turn once more, when Masaru attacked another student, a third year, after he had decided to pick on one of the new kids, who apparently had not learned to deal with it the way Masaru had.

That day, Masaru was beat up pretty badly, but he gained the gratitude of a fellow human, which he had never experienced before. Soon enough, he was surrounded by people, who sought him out with their problems. From then on, fights were common, as he had gained new enemies along with his new friends. He had found a new thing to live for; protecting his friends and dealing punishment to those that hurt them.

Because of this, he was labelled a trouble child, despite him being very involved in classes and scoring good grades. Eventually, this led to his parents deciding to move away from the city, hoping things would change with a new air. The move coincided with the start of his first year of High school, and as the parents moved to Yumegawa, he prepared himself to start a new life at Kamimura High School. In order to keep out of trouble, not wanting to bring dishonour to his family once more, Masaru has kept to himself throughout his first two years, retracting into his own world, as he is afraid of gaining friends, which will lead him to fight again.

Other:
Nothing worth mentioning.

✔ Video Games
✔ Animals
✔ Long Walks
Dislikes:
✘ Spiders
✘ Phonies/Liars
✘ Scary movies
✘ Loneliness
✘ Being treated like a child

Personality:
Nori is a friendly, generally down to earth young man with a certain fire in his belly. Despite having his feet firmly planted on the ground, Nori is very ambitious and, often times, a dreamer, though he usually keeps his goals realistic when it comes time to set them. He is a staunch defender of his beliefs, but part of himself questions what it is exactly he believes in. It is such that under his rather upbeat and grounded demeanour, there is an intense, though hidden, maelstrom of self doubt and questioning. Regardless, he tries to not let this interfere with his day to day self, preferring to show people his cheerier side. Nori was brought up a practicing roman catholic and used to have a firm believe in God, however, experiences throughout his life have caused him to question this belief, as previously mentioned. Still, he holds true to the idea and majesty of God.

When it comes to others, Nori is generally accepting of everyone unless they should prove to him he should not be. Those who take pleasure in fabricating lies and perverting the truth generally ignite what is, admittedly, a short fuse. On a perhaps equal level of scorn are the undeservingly prideful.

History:
Ryuunosuke Nori didn't grow up in the lap of luxury, nor did he ever want to. The youngest son of Ryuunosuke Kohaku, a local business owner, Nori grew up without much female influence in his life, his mother Yuki dying of terminal illness when he was five years old, leaving him, his brother Akira, and Kohaku alone. As a result of this, Nori grew up on the poorer side of the social spectrum but never once did he complain. Even at a young age, Nori could appreciate that his father worked as hard as he could to keep them afloat, often barely scraping by enough to keep food on the table. It was far from easy, but his father always reassured him that God was looking out for all of them and from that, Nori took comfort. That, and the people around him.

Friends were always easy to come by for Nori. One such person was Ritsuko, a young girl with whom Nori soon became best friends. While he would have no trouble finding someone to be around, Nori always chose Ritsuko. Always. It came to be, as the years went on, that whenever there was hardship, Nori could always count on three things: God, his family, and Ritsuko. They were his pillars of strength that held him above the churning sea of uncertainties of life.

But time erodes even the strongest pillars. As the boy grew older, change took it's course and the day finally came to graduate from middle school to high school. It was that day that Nori recieved the news: Ritsuko and her family were moving to the small town of Inaba. The news broke his heart, but Nori knew there was no stopping it, and reluctantly, he watched as Ritsuko abruptly vanished from his life, leaving behind a small trinket and the promise that she'd write him. And she did, but eventually the letters would stop coming. Still, Nori held firm and remained his kind, honest self as he advanced unto high school.

In his 1st year at Kamimura, however, Nori's father fell gravely ill, causing his elder brother to return home to take over running the family store, neglecting his studies. While he didn't seem to mind, Nori could tell that Akira struggled greatly with this sacrifice and harboured a hidden resentment towards it.

Still, the boy marched onwards, grateful for his brother's sacrifice. Now in his 3rd year at Kamimura high school, Nori focuses on the future while more than occasionally glancing at the past. What's more, with the mysterious string of deaths in local news, the young man has more on his mind than ever before.

What was the world coming to? What kind of God would allow this?

✔ Listening to music
✔ Sports, mainly baseball, soccer
✔ Candy
✔ Hanging out with friends
Dislikes:
✘ Rainy Days
✘ Tofu
✘ Coffee
✘ Loneliness
✘ Arrogant people/Bullies
Personality:There isn't much that can put a damper on Hinata's spirits. This generally cheerful young man tries to look for the bright side to any misfortune, though that doesn't stop him from getting frustrated when things get out of hand. He has what some would call an infectious smile and an even deadlier laugh which he has been known to unleash at seemingly random or inappropriate times.

When it comes to others, Hinata tries his best to get along with everyone he meets, which is usually an easy task for the young man, though there are several instances in which he is afflicted by a lack of self confidence. The most common source of said social awkwardness, believe it or not, are girls, and as such this, among certain other factors, is the reason that to this day, Hinata has not pursued any romantic relationships. Dealing with them as friends, however, is something he is much better at. Furthermore, when in danger or threatened, Hinata is extremely defensive of his friends and is more than likely to step in the way of danger for them. This is especially true in the case of school bullies, whom Hinata has absolutely no patience for, despite his laid-back and cheerful demeanour.

History: Aisaika Hinata was born with the prestigious honour, or perhaps burden, of being the eldest son of-and heir to- Aisaika Satou. Satou was the founder and CEO of AisaiCo Publishing, a software company that had hit the big time several years before Hinata was born. As such, growing up was pretty cozy for the young boy, though the luxuries never really struck the boy as necessary, or even that important. Instead, Hinata grew to be surprisingly down to earth and friendly.

That isn't, of course, to say that Hinata's childhood wasn't without it's ups and downs and as hard as he tried to be like the average kid, the fact of the matter was he came from a very different world. His father, a proponent of old-world practice, initiated an arranged marriage between Hinata and the daughter of another large company with whom Satou sought to do business with. While the boy didn't consider it anything more at the time, nor was he truly aware of the circumstances, he and his potential bride to be, Tatsuhiro Sonomi, formed an early childhood bond and play-dates would often be arranged. These would soon end, however, as at age 10 Hinata was sent away for schooling.

The young Aisaika boy spent the majority of his educational years on Tatsumi Port Island, where he eventually enrolled in Gekkoukan High School. It was during his second high school year that the news broke: Aisaika Satou had been arrested for money laundering. AisaiCo was now the property of Asakawa Junko via hostile take over and Hinata, while not happy about it, knew what this meant for his future. It would be expected of him to rebuild the Aisaika name and retake the company when the time came. In light of these events, Hinata transferred to a school closer to home, leaving Tatsumi Port Island for Yumegawa and enrolling in Kamimura Highschool for his 3rd and final year.

With his company in the hands of the wrong man, his father shamed, and the expectation to fix it all on him, Hinata dealt with the strain the only way he could: enjoy whatever time he had left being a kid before the time came to defeat the 'bad guy' and bring honour back to his father.

Likes:

Dislikes:
✘ Visiting her parents
✘ Mushrooms
✘ Dealing with teenagers
✘ Hospitals

Personality: Yoshiki is a dedicated member of the police force. She is often serious, coming off as sarcastic and 'high and mighty', and she is known for acting on her first impulse, a trait that helps as often as it hinders.

History: Yoshiki was born and raised in Yumegawa. Her parents run the local drugstore, which was recently expanded into a chain store, with two locations in Yumegawa and others in various nearby cities and towns. She was a bright, inquisitive child, and it was hard to keep things from her. She had a natural ability to discern lies from truth, and she always got into the cookie jar no matter where her parents hid it.

When Yoshiki was a teenager, the drug store fell on hard times. Her parents were forced to scale down the number of employees and work there themselves. They had very little time, and money, to spend on Yoshiki. They even asked her to work in the drugstore after school. While her friends had parties and recieved cars for their birthdays, Yoshiki spent her birthday behind the counter and her parents didn't even pay her for her work.

Yoshiki began to rebel, dating what she thought was the only boy who wanted to be around her, the local delinquent. The first time she was escorted home by the police for underaged drinking, her parents forbid her to see him, and Yoshiki told them that they spent so much time in the store, they couldn't stop her. And she was right. Near the end of her final year of high school, Yoshiki discovered that she was pregnant. Her parents urged her to stay home and not go to college, promising that they would talk to her boyfriend's family, straighten him out and they would get married. The idea of being married frightened Yoshiki; she fled to a larger city, had an abortion and enrolled in college to study criminal justice.

After she graduated, she entered the police academy, and was offered a position in Yumegawa. Yoshiki accepted it, as it would allow her to bypass being a beat-cop and jump straight to detective at the age of 23. Since then, she has been a valued member of the police force and few people remember her checkered past. No one but her parents know about the abortion.

Other: Yoshiki enjoys playing poker, partly because she can tell when people are bluffing.

Height: 4'10
School year: second year
Soul Weapon: long, double edged katana
Arcana: hanged man
Accessories:
♦ flower clip
♦ silver ring with a tiny peachy pink stone from her brother.

Strengths:
✔ supportive/caring
✔ unyielding inner strength
✔ idealistic
✔ nimble

Weaknesses:
✘ sensitive; easily hurt/quick to tear up
✘ naive
✘ weak body
✘ idealistic to a fault

Likes:
✔ candy/sweets

✔ paradoxes

Dislikes:
✘ hatred/fighting/malice intent
✘ pain and suffering of others
✘ unfairness
✘ being alone

Personality:
Seemingly weak and helpless, Airi is both petite and sensitive. But these qualities do not dominate her; she is very firm on things she believes in and won't give up easily when it comes to what she knows to be right. She is surprisingly un-fearful when it comes to matters of self sacrifice. When it comes to the greater good she is more than willing to do what is needed for the cause. This isn't to say she won't fall to tears at the drop of hat, which doesn't necessarily mean she is a cry baby, though it does come across that way at first. She merely truly believes one she feel emotions to their fullest and live the moment as best you can. She believes that whatever god-like figure there is up there gave you these gifts of love and joy to be enjoyed and balanced it with sadness and fear that one should not be afraid to feel; accept the good with the bad.

History:
Airi was born into a average family; nothing too rich, nothing too poor. She was the apple of her parents eye and got anything she wanted at the bat of an eyelash, no questions asked. Many people called the girl her brother's pet because she followed him about and hung on his every word, but really it should have been the other way around, as he live for her. In her household, it seemed, the sun rose and set with her smile and there couldn't have been a happier child in the world. Things went sour with the untimely death of that older brother of her's. To the ten year old, it seemed the world had ended and she was inconsolable. But the very people that should have banded together and been by each others sides went for the throat. Her parent's endless fights gave the grieving child no scrap of comfort and with her father's being laid off and rumors of her mother's affair surfacing, the relationship was in disrepair.

With their divorce two years later being the nail in the coffin, Airi looked back on the good times and found that she was never truly grateful. She never gave thanks for the things she had and accepted them with an air of deserving. She only took in good karma and suffered no bad. It was this day that she came to the realization that sacrifice must be given to receive true happiness. It was her own fault that all this had to happen, so she shouldered the death of her brother, firing of her father, adultery of her mother, and parents divorce and apologized for them all. She prayed every day that better days would come and that she would give up anything to see those days for her family.

Slowly, things did begin to look up; her parents reconciling to the point of being cordial, her father finding an even better job, her mother finally being able to pursue the career of her dreams. Life really began to improve for them, but at the cost of their daughters health. The child, once rich in health and life, began to decline; her body growing weak. But in the deepest part of her heart she felt it was a balancing act. Her health was a component she was willing to sacrifice if it meant improvements in other places. Her parents united under this burden and their relationship seemed to improve by the day and Airi could feel the joy she once felt as a child begin to grow again in her heart. She could smile again. Now she has moved to Yumegawa and is ready to begin her first year at Kamimura High School. She looks forward to making new friends and finally get out of the house and home schooling, feeling her health having improved enough.

Other:
Her soul weapon, a double edged katana is more of a metaphorical weapon rather than a practical one as a doubled edged katana would be more fragile and possibly break upon coarse impact. It more or less stands for her self sacrificing qualities being both a hindrance and a blessing and that in an effort to cut down her enemy she will more than likely cut down herself.

Personality: True or False? Hiro's personality tends to turn on a switch but whether he is expressing his real self or simply faking another personality is something only he can distinguish. Most people view him as somewhat a loner who likes to keep to himself with others view him as the more cheerful outgoing type. Between these two it is hard to tell which personality is his true face and which one is simply a mask. The sad fact is that Hiro have a very negative outlook on life and have gone so far as to try and blend into the background hoping that people either ignore him or if they do notice him then he wishes that they simply leave him be. While he will most likely shy away or put on a fake facade there are moments where he becomes overly stressed and that is usually when he runs off to unwind allowing his emotional walls to go down. To strangers he is a uncaring, cold-hearted teen who can act a bit uppity and allows for his professionalism to make the choices for him. Sadly this have caused Hiro many problems among his peers which have earned him much dislike among the student body. Thus it is hard for the teen to make friends or those that he does make are usually because he fakes his persona. Sadly this leaves the teen rather empty inside which only adds to ever growing sense of loneliness but it is not like anyone will ever see it. Hiro is a person who loves to put on a fake smile but only cracks a genuine grin on occassions. As boss of a large hospital chain his life is far too busy and he often goes under stress which tends to make him that much more easy to make irritable and can be angered when his intentions are questioned. sadly his job also places him in an area that have chaos and panic on a daily basis so the teen have grown rather used to the chaotic atmosphere leaving him to come off as stone-hearted during situations where someone will usually go into a emotional mess. But underneath all that he is still a loving teen at heart. People who have manage to get on his good side see another side of him that many others are not allowed to simply see. Hiro is rather soft-hearted and will easily try his hardest to make his friends happy even if it means doing something he rather not. Sure his emotions may be dulled even around friends but his actions speak far more loudly than his words and he is one to believe that kindness needs to be repaid no matter how minor the deed is. He can easily be made to laugh given the chance and can act like a caring brother when he needs to be. Needless to say that those two sides of Hiro are true but one thing is certain. This boy is a walking contradiction and his personality is far more complex than others may realize.

History:
:TabMoney makes the world go round. For a good portion of his life this saying was the absolute truth for Hiro. His father owned and ran a large chain of hospitals that took care of those that required major surgery while a few focused on those that were growing too old to care for themselves. Being one of top surgeons in his time, Hiro's father had always been a person to obtain a great intellect and was always the one that teached Hiro the many different things about the medical field and the various medicines and illnesses that existed. Along with the teachings of the human body as well as the knowledge of medical termology his father had taught him many things that would helped him if he were to take over the family business. Of course Hiro was young back then so while the boy did listen intently to his father most of his interests were within the field of forensics. So things like decomposition and chemical makeup held more interst to the young boy. Sadly being a surgeon also meant that his father was always very busy so most of the time Hiro was with his mother. Being the wife of a great surgeon had its perks. Since the family was wealthy and well off she did not need to work and thus spent most of the day playing with her son. For Hiro his childhood was that of pure bliss but anything that is good was never destined tp last for too long. It was a Christmas and Hiro and his mother just got back from shopping. Of course snow have fallen and sleek had covered up a large portion of the streets. Being Christmas Hiro just managed to buy his favorite toy and went outside to play with it under his mother's supervision. Perhaps it was due to the downpour of snow but the truck did not see Hiro playing in the middle of the street but Hiro's mother definitely saw the truck. In a blink Hiro is knocked to the ground and the sound of screeching tires was soon followed by the sound of someone being ran over. Of course the truck driver did not want to be faced with a crime and restarted the engine to drive away before anyone could see it. By this time the young Hiro was already unconscious so the boy missed out on what had expired. By the time he regained consciousness he was laying atop a hospital bed surrounded by only his father. Thankfully the boy escaped the incident unscaved but when he asked about his mother the doctors and nurses just dropped their heads without a word. Anyone could had guess why but a child at Hiro's age had yet to fully understand the concept of death. The only thing he remembered was the fact that his mother wasn't at home when he returned. He asked his father many times about his mother's absence but all his father said was that his mother went 'Somewhere far away'. Of course that excuse could only last for so long and it did not take Hiro long to understand the meaning of death. This only made him regret that fact that he never once managed to say his farwells before she had died...However this was only a start. His mother's death is just the beginning of an unfortunate chain.

tab Eventually his father remarried to another woman and once again the family had regained a mother figure. Being twelve at the time Hiro already figured that his mother had passed away but he was happy that his father found another person to love. While his father loved the new mom Hiro could never fully accept her as a mother which had caused much friction to form between them. No matter what the two never saw eye-to-eye and his father was always caught in the crosshairs of them both whenever things had become too heated. Sometimes the arguements got so bad that they simply stopped talking with one another for an entire week. Or sometimes they would end up tossing things at one another simply because they could never come to some agreement. This, of course, placed great strain on Hiro's father and the man eventually walked out to escape the constant stress of being caught in the middle of the daily struggles. This devasted Hiro. His father was the only blood family member he had left and now he was left behind with a stranger he hardly knew anything about. Needless to say that his homelife had gone downhill ever since his father's sudden departure. His step-mother wanted nothing to do with him and left Hiro to his own devices. To most kids that would be ideal but to Hiro it was an empty life. He had no family to confide in and his home life was mainly of him being home without anyone to interact with. And his school life was no better as his grades had started to plummet and his social skills were almost non-existent. At this point Hiro started to wonder if he had anything left to look forward to. He always envied some people. They always seem to have friends to laugh with. People they could confide in. But Hiro...He had nothing of the sort. This loneliness soon caused Hiro to grow a false facade. He soon acted out the part of a cheery boy when the truth was the exact opposite. But hey it worked. He soon gathered a group of friends who were all eagered to talk and hang out with him. But with each new friend came only deeper sadness. The boy they befriended was a false mask. Something he used just so he can hide from others. At home his step-mother continued to ignore him and his father was still nowhere to be found. He continued his days wearing a mask in the morning and in sadness at night. During those years Hiro's outlook on life had took a darker turn and the boy soon convinced himself of one truth. That everyone were simply fakes and that he did not need friends so long as he have a reason to be there. With this he made it his goal to become better whenn it came to academics and soon his grades were back on top although the same could not be said for his emotional state. Between faking himself and being a lonely kid at some point Hiro just grew tired of it all. Against his better judgement he ran away and came upon the town of Yumegawa at the age of sixteen. Of course one needed a parent's signature to gain entry into the school but nobody said that he couldn't forge one. Of course he managed to rent a room at an inn and picked up a part-time job. It was a hard and long road but he managed.

:Tab:Two years had passed since Hiro arrived at Yumegawa and he had gotten use to his new home and school. Things were finally looking up for him and slowly Hiro was starting to regain his old self back. School days were filled with many activities and evening are peaceful without having to argue with his step-mother. But in the end all this still amounted to nothing. Even if he made top marks on tests, even if he had won something...Who would care? Again Hiro realized his loneliness and once again was forced to don a false facade just to get through the day. Maybe the call he recieved on July seventh was the turning point for him but who evre said it was a good one. Unfortunately his father had died of cancer which left him as the head of a large hospital chain that his father once owned. Hiro did not know how to react. He loved his father but to be abandoned was one act Hiro had trouble forgiving and the fact that he now had to step in his father's stead only added to his doubts and stress. While the job had placed a lot of stress and emotional strain on the teen he managed to stay long enough to accumulate a great amount of wealth which helped along with the fortune that his father left him. Needless to say Hiro managed to buy his own home and afford his school life without having to work part-time. But even then it all felt...empty to him. He still had no family and his friends were either all fake if not non-existent. While he did gain some attention most of it was mainly for rumors or gossip but none bothered to get close enough to get to know him. "To have everything but nothing at all." This saying is something Hiro soon grew to understand. Of course his step-mother called on occassions to show her love to him but at the age of eighteen he was no fool. Hiro knew why she was acting nice and by now he had already grew to know about the two-faced world many called reality. He no longer had any connection to his step-mother and continued to live on his own unknown to a great number of people. On many occassions he could fool someone of his personality but he also could not escape from his own past...Or the mask that he had to wear to hide himself.

Other: He never flaunts his wealth so it only shows on occassions.

Personality: Well, truthfully, Midori would probably best be described as curious, to the point where it could also just be called 'ridiculously reckless'. No matter how afraid she may actually be, she refuses to give up. Although not naïve, she simply loves to face daring challenges, especially if it means protecting or impressing other people. Her recklessness has been known to get her into trouble before, but she has a talent for wriggling out of those kinds of situations. Or at least she likes to think she has, though is often proven wrong by certain people. You can bet a dollar that she will receive at least a new scratch each day. Her dangerous, although exciting goal of trying to wander around and see how the outside world looks like can promise that, as well as her occasional clumsiness. She stays away from cooking because of this, and will normally trick someone else into cooking for her, eat at a friend's or just nibble on leftovers. She's received bad wounds before, but always bounces back from them. Her reckless nature also helps her to be the fearless friend she wants to be to the others. Midori will protect them to the death and beyond, defending them if someone were to take advantage of them, she wouldn’t let anyone give them any stick, she would walk right up to them and confront them – which is also the reason behind most of her 'arguments' with people and the reason she is often called an unruly brat. And even if she was to be outnumbered, she will most certainly come up with a ridiculous plan to get what she wants. She always does. Midori is as sly as she is reckless and will not back away from showing this when needed.

On the other hand, Midoris optimistic and carefree nature makes her a likable character to most of the others around her. Okay, she’s not exactly the most hyper-active of girls; she doesn't point at some flitting butterfly and scream "OMGLIKE A BUTTERFLY! PRETTY!" or something alike, but is carefree enough not to care too much about it when other girls are. Well, mostly. Just never act all hyper around her when she has just gotten out of bed. Because then she can be very unfriendly. And when I say ‘unfriendly’, I mean rip-your-head-off unfriendly. It seems like little words can hurt her, though she usually hides her emotions very well when something or someone hurt her. She tends to cover this up with a smile and joking comment to keep her real thoughts covered, but that’s just the way she thinks. The pinkette can be jealous, sarcastic (at certain comments, you’ll find her pantsing herself laughing at the back of the room) as well as she can be as emotional as any girl is. Usually she's only flirtatious when bored and not able to go out, and at times like that will probably resolve to harassing, shocking, and often exasperating Kiyoshi people for fun. She does have her girly moments, and if she feels a strong reaction to anything, chances are that you will notice. But it’s not bad; sometimes it’s quite nice to be girly! Especially when you get to dress people up in pretty little costumes and animal ears!~

History: Being half Japanese and half American, you can say Midori was kind of a hybrid. Her father David Monroe and Mother Fujiko Miyagami was young couple who fell in love at a very young age and got married afterwards. Somewhere along the road they had three beautiful offspring. Midori was the youngest child amongst her two older brothers. Touya was the oldest and Kiyoshi came after him. Being an epitome of someone who possessed very little knowledge about the outside world the pinkette always hid behind her brothers’ backs whenever their mother and father used to have disagreement between themselves. What happened to the love? Well Midori was far too young to understand that when it all started falling apart. One of the main reasons for the fight was not only their poor compatibility but it was different wants and views towards life. David wanted to move back to the states with the whole family where Fujiko wanted to stay connected to her homeland Japan. She wanted her children to embrace that side of them.

Whilst these small little fights turned out to be a daily routine for the adults, Touya became slightly distant and honestly Midori couldn’t really connect with him well enough after that. On the others hand Kiyoshi was someone who was there to listen to her requests no matter how silly they were. As time passed by, when the pinkette turned fifteen her parents got divorced and with that came what she feared the most. It was the pain of losing her loved ones. Midori was in the custody of her father and as for Touya and Kiyoshi, they were under her mother’s custody. No one would listen to what Midori had to say about the whole thing, her parents were too busy throwing venom at each other rather than caring about the childhood Midori hoped for. It was selfish of Midori, so she tried to think of their happiness too. But a bitter feeling at back of her mind made its permanent resident in her heart. Well she always tries her best to ignore it and put up a strong exterior, plastering a fake façade and smiling away even at the loneliest times was something she got used after her family fell apart.

Midori got very lonely while she stayed with her father in the states. Her father was always busy with his work and he came home at the darkest hour of the night. School was alright. She had some friends but they only stuck around for the fun part and left her in the dust whenever she needed someone to talk to. Somewhere along the road the girl became a little violent and reckless. She started hurting herself, a petty and desperate call for attention towards her father. No use though he never noticed the cuts or the bruises she got from inflicting pain upon herself. The worst year of her life you could say. At various nights she cried herself to sleep but that was kept a secret from everyone. She would talk to her brothers and mother on the phone but that was not enough, she actually wanted to be in their presence. Little Midori was very bad at the Japanese language for which she was slightly jealous of Kiyoshi as he had fairly good knowledge about the language and the beautiful country itself. Being born during the bright green spring in Yumaegawa town, her hair matched the color of the cherry blossoms; her parents thought she would grow up to be as lively as spring, so that's where the name "Midori" came from.

During a certain sleepless night Midori heard her father talking to someone who might have been her mother. It was unlikely of him so the girl decided to eavesdrop on their conversation. Apparently they were fighting again, no surprise there right? But wait. As they were talking the pinkette came to the conclusion that they were fighting about the move again. David wanted Kiyoshi to move in with him and Midori and on the other hand Fujiko wanted Midori to move to Yumaegawa with them. After that night an implausible plan started surfacing in her head. She promised herself that she is running away from…not her home but from the states and to Yumaegawa, Japan. This plan she would put in to action, she told herself again and again. So now she was just waiting for the right opportunity to do it! And that came right after her sixteenth birthday! Now, she was about to set foot in the city of mysterious happenings and mishaps.

Other: Midori often wears full sleeved clothes in order to hide her cuts. As for her persona, it mainly focuses on healing.

Information: Himiko was an obscure shaman queen of Yamataikoku, an ancient country within the islands that would become Japan. According to early Chinese history, people in the country agreed to elect a woman for their ruler, so that she ascended to the throne, successfully uniting the country and ending the prior Emperors' eighty years of disturbances and warfare. Her skills in magic and sorcery were highly respected by her people. She is said to remain unmarried, living in a beautiful palace, surrounded by towers and stockades, where a thousand women and only one man served her as attendants, along with countless imperial guards watching on each corner of the palace. Her reign was strict and discipline, but peaceful. She is also mentioned to have a good connection with the Wei Kingdom. People of Yamataikoku took her death as a great loss, and they did not obey nor respected the new King's order, until one of her relatives, a thirteen-year old girl was made Queen. History involving the early Japan does not mention her at all, but she is often considered a legendary figure. Nowadays, her existence is still debatable among scholars and is considered to be one of the most controversial debates of the ancient Japanese history.
