The world we're stranded on is chronologically imbalanced: people take care not to travel too far
south, lest they wake up separated from their loved ones by a thousand yesterdays.

On a planet where the land straddling the South Pole moves at a faster rate through time than
the continents near the equator, accelerated development in the southern latitudes spurred the
invention of technology far surpassing the realms in the northern latitudes (e.g. the South Pole
was in the 21st century while the equator-lands were still throwing rocks in the stone age).

In the 27th century, an as-yet-unknown catastrophe occurred causing the annihilation of the
southern pole's capital and government. The advanced society fell to ruin, degenerating into
post-apocalyptic settlements, and the land was rendered utterly uninhabitable due to high levels
of radiation and asphyxiating smog. Most survivors sought refuge around the equatorial regions,
although a few continued to dwell in the slums of their abolished paradise.

Scores of smugglers roved the collapsed metropolises and cities, scavenging the ruins for
functioning or serviceable technology. But wastelanders reported strange sightings in the latter
days after the destruction. Rumors circulated about sightings of fantastic monsters that had
arisen from the contaminated land, evolving in the accelerated time-zone from extant animals
and other living organisms. Techno-scavengers captured a fair number of these specimens and
brought them to the equator regions (colloquially called the "Midlands"), where they
flourished and spread, killing off almost all native animals.

It has now been over five centuries in the Midlands and approximately 250,000 years in the pole
regions. People boldly migrate southwards and attempt to reclaim the land from the feral beasts
with a combination of their own mettle and the battle-worthy creatures they are able to tame.
Crude capsules have been produced out of the husks of fibrous plants such as the apricorn fruit.
Such capture devices are unreliable and do not automatically transfer ownership over to the
user. Therefore, trainers must tame the creatures using their own methods, a very hazardous
                                    task.

"Premium" poké-balls are a rarity, but have the benefit of increased durability and capture rates.
In addition, such mechanized capsules immediately subdue any creature stored inside,
rendering it docile toward the trainer.

Gyms, chiefly called "bastions", have been erected in the last 80 years, serving primarily as
fastnesses and defensive strongholds for the Halcyon region's cities and towns. It is traditional
for adolescents and adults to set off on a pilgrimage to collect all eight of the hallowed badges
by defeating the guardian of each fortress (i.e. gym leader).

Pokémon trainers also function as exterminators. It is their mission to capture or kill any
monster they encounter while roaming the wilds.

The self-appointed "professor" of the region is an eccentric originally from the southern pole: Dr.
Aloe Tannen is a reclusive and inveterate bigot, hardly bothering with any of the "savages" from
the Midlands. She does however have connections in the wasteland and will sometimes
disappear for several days, always returning with marvelous trinkets and gadgets.

She considers the progeny of this uncultured region to be utterly expendable and will frequently
arm them with dangerous monsters, sending them out into the wild to collect research
                                    specimens for her studies.

GLOSSARY OF NOTABLE TERMS AND CONCEPTS:

                                          Ancient Sanctuary:
A natural reserve located in Sangwyn City. According to native superstition, humans must enter the sacred grounds unarmed or risk losing their soul to the land's spiritual protectors.

Fossil pokémon and other primordial creatures roam the sanctuary under the vigilance of Warden Sōng.

                                          Bastions:
The defensive strongholds of each regional settlement. Each bastion is presided over by a guardian of high repute.

                                          Capture Device:
A catchall term that refers to apricorn balls, poké balls, or any variant thereof. Capture devices are traditionally spherical in form, lightweight, and designed to fit in the palm of a child's hand. Self-powered mechanisms allow the device to retract or expand to conform to the user's grip. While stored inside a capture device, a pokémon exists in a half-conscious stasis and its biological processes slow to a near-halt. Hence, a pokémon can survive without food or water for several weeks when kept inside its ball.

The advent of apricorn balls and other devices crafted from organic materials predates the appearance of the first pokémon. Originally, these devices were designed by ancient nomadic tribes for the storage of inanimate objects like food and weapons. With the arrival of pokémon, they were retooled by borderland refugees for the purpose of capturing animate beings. An encrypted safeguard disallows these devices from being used on humans and thus far no one has been able to override this feature. The technology for subsequent capture device models was based on these prototypes, so all poké balls contain this preventative safeguard.

The production of synthesized capsules began a decade ago by Dr. Aloe Tannen in conjunction with Professor Samuel Oak of the Kanto region. She is credited with providing the schematics for the first pacifying poké ball. By tampering with the brain waves of a captured pokémon, these poké balls are able to automatically tame the creature within.

                                          Eyrth:
                                          [air-uh-th]

The planet on which we live.

                                          Guardian:
Synonymous with the gym leader role in the games.

                                          Halcyon:
                                          [hal-see-uhn]
                                          adjective
                                              1. calm; peaceful; tranquil
                                              2. rich; wealthy; prosperous
                                              3. happy; joyful; carefree

                                          noun
                                              4. a mythical bird, usually identified with the kingfisher, said to breed about the time of the winter solstice in a nest floating on the sea, and to have the power of charming winds and waves into calmness.

                                          Halcyon Region:
The role play's principle setting: a southerly-midland region lying contiguous with the borderlands of the post-apocalyptic waste.

                                          Tachys Academy:
The pinnacle of academia in the Halcyon region, Tachys Academy enrolls nearly twenty-thousand students of all ages. Parents are keen on having their children accepted to this prestigious school, but the application process is stringently selective, culling out all but the brightest, wealthiest, and most passionate individuals. Normally, students begin their academic career at age ten and finish their undergraduate studies by age eighteen (although, it is not unheard of for gifted pupils to graduate early). The curriculum is extensive and students are required to become proficient in everything from pokémon battling to advanced calculus.

Following the year-end matriculation ceremony, graduates can either pursue further education at the academy in a field of their choice or become an understudy at one of the region's bastions. Other career paths are available, but must be approved prior to graduation.

                                          The Borderlands:
A conceptual line that separates the South Pole from the midland regions. Outlying settlements began to develop after the destruction of southern cities. Several centuries ago four such communities merged to form the Halcyon region.

                                          The Southlands:
Post-apocalyptic wasteland around the South Pole affected by time's acceleration.

                                          The Midlands:
The realms located north of the Southlands: composed of the Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Orre, Unova, and Halcyon regions.

                                          Time Discrepancy:
The time shift between the South Pole and the Midlands can be easily calculated using these handy time conversions:

1 day in the Midlands = 1 year in the South Pole.
                                              1 hour = 2 days.

It makes more mathematical sense when you consider how the role play's calendar operates (a year is divided up into four seasons and each season is twelve days long; thus, there are only 48 days in each year).

The Halcyon region isn't situated far enough south for you to encounter any time discrepancies, but if you do decide to have your character wander into an area affected by the time change and then later return to the region, use this chart to determine how much they have aged.

                                          Overpopulation:
After the outpouring of refugees from the Southlands and Borderlands, the Halcyon region's population grew exponentially, resulting in condensed cities, a massive increase in poverty, crime, and unemployment, as well as the construction of high-density housing districts for low-income families. Nativistic policies were established to protect the region's original inhabitants, creating a gulf of animosity between the already divided Halcyon citizens and Southland immigrants.

These laws were reformed after a decades-long struggle, but an innate prejudice toward immigrants persists in the minds of the region's older residents.

                        GENERAL RULES:

                              » DON'T BE AN IDIOT.
My goal was to create an immersive, nonexclusive role-playing experience. The only requirement on your part is to use
your common sense or, failing that, ask questions when you're in doubt.

Before asking a question, make sure it hasn't already been answered in the F.A.Q.

                              » POST LAYOUTS ARE OPTIONAL.
But please do not alter, crop, or edit the Halcyon region map for your layout or any other purpose! I commissioned someone
to draw it specifically for this role play and their terms of service prohibit the image from being altered.

If you would like an alterable map to keep track of your character's wanderings, Jesthel has generously created one for
                              your use.

» GIVE YOURSELF PERMISSION TO SUCK.
I've poured a large amount of money (both gold and real life currency) into this role play's creation, as well as a great deal
of time. And do you know what makes it all worthwhile? You. Having fun. And once your character has been accepted and
the first week's euphoria wears off, I don't want you drifting away because writer's block suddenly starts nipping at the nubs
of your fingers. So do us both a favor: allow yourself to suck. Because there are going to be days when you feel incapable, like
the absolute worst embodiment of yourself, and on those days you will have to take a deep breath and remind yourself of this
rule. That you're allowed to suck. And that maybe even your worst writing isn't that terrible after you've edited out all the little
irksome mistakes. Maybe it's just mediocre. Remind yourself that what you're writing doesn't have to be novel-grade material.
It's an RP post, so relax and have fun with it.

                        BATTLE SYSTEM:

» DICE ROLLS ARE IMPLEMENTED ONLY FOR BATTLES BETWEEN TWO CHARACTERS.
I don't expect you to memorize the battle system information. In fact, the first time you read the rules you can skim over or skip
everything that isn't in bold print, just to take in the general flavor of the role play, and read it more thoroughly later.

A 6-sided die determines the effectiveness of an attack. The number it lands on represents the amount of damage dealt. If you
roll a 1, then the attack is ineffective and deals zero damage; roll a 2 and the attack deals two damage, etc. Super effective
moves inflict twice as much damage; not very effective attacks deal half damage (rounded down). Type-effectiveness chart.

» NON-OFFENSIVE AND UNCONVENTIONAL MOVES WILL BE DEALT WITH DIFFERENTLY.
Status effect moves (paralysis powder, toxic, yawn, confuse ray) are effective unless you roll a 1 or 2.

Using accuracy raising, attack boosting, defense lowering, and speed boosting moves like hone claws, howl, screech, and agility
will add 1 point to all subsequent dice rolls (so if you roll a 1, then you add one point to that and instead of missing the attack
                              deals 2 damage).

Using evasive, speed decreasing, accuracy lowering, and defense boosting moves like double team, string shot, sand attack,
and harden will subtract 1 point from all of your opponent's subsequent dice rolls (so if they roll a 2, then subtract one
point and the attack misses instead of dealing 2 damage).

Moves with secondary status effects (like ice beam's freezing potential) only affect the opponent if you roll a 6.

Healing moves (milk drink, moonlight, etc) always heal half the pokémon's HP and any status ailments unless you roll a 1 or 2.
Health stealing moves heal half the amount of damage dealt to the opponent (rounded down, if necessary).

The results of lingering moves like sandstorm and ingrain will be decided as the need arises. If you're ever unsure about a move's
effects, ask me before you make your post and I'll devise a system for it.

» STATUS AILMENTS CAN BE CURED BASED ON CHANCE.
Paralyzed, frozen, sleeping, and infatuated pokémon are completely disabled from attacking until they are cured. Recovery is
determined by a coin flip (generate a number between 1 and 2). Generating a 2 will instantly cure the afflicted pokémon. After
two turns the effect wears off on its own.

Confusion causes a pokémon to inflict 2 HP damage on itself unless you generate a 2 and will wear off after three turns or by
returning the pokémon to its ball.

Poison and burns inflict 1 HP damage each turn and can only be cured with a recovery item or at a healing center.

Curse (used by a ghost-type), halves the user's HP but will inflict 2 HP damage on the opponent each turn and persists until
the pokémon is recalled or healed.

In addition: recovery items (potions, full heals, fresh water) can remedy any status ailment!

» POKéMON ARE ABLE TO LEARN MORE THAN FOUR MOVES.
Your pokémon retains all the moves it learns up to its current level. Egg moves and HMs now both fall under the category of
TMs and can only be earned through special means (described later).

» YOU CAN CARRY MORE THAN SIX POKéMON AT A TIME.
However, poké balls are hard to come by and will be rationed accordingly. Digital storage also exists for your convenience.

                              » TWO-VERSUS-TWO AND THREE-VERSUS-THREE BATTLES ARE ENCOURAGED.
For the sake of time, mainly. Oh, and you can arrange these matches with your own specific rules about healing items and
the number of pokémon allowed on the field at once (you can have three vs one battles, two vs four, six vs six, ten vs
seven, or any other combination you can dream up).

» THIS ROLE PLAY IS LOOSELY NUZLOCKE-BASED.
Should a pokémon's HP be reduced to zero, then the opposing side has a one in three chance of killing said fainted pokémon.
Generate a random number between 1 and 3; if a 3 is produced, then your pokémon dies.

However, a safety net is in place to protect novice trainers: if your starter faints and a 3 is generated, you get to decide
whether or not your pokémon survives. This safeguard will be in effect until your starter reaches level ten or
                              you capture a second pokémon.

» GYM LEADER BATTLES FALL UNDER THE AFOREMENTIONED RULES.

                        User Image
                        CAPTURE SYSTEM AND BREEDING:

» THE RANDOM NUMBER GENERATOR WILL BE USED FOR WILD POKéMON ENCOUNTERS.
Each locality (route, city, town) contains different pokémon types. You can find a list of types found in each area
under the 'region topography' section. Here is where you'll find a list of pokemon by type and further information
about wild encounters. Use either the IC or OoC thread for generating numbers, but if you're going to generate
pokémon encounters in the IC thread, make sure to include in-character content in the post. I don't want the IC thread
to become cluttered with extraneous posts.

For every ten battles your pokémon participate in, you earn the chance to generate a shiny pokémon. Roll a
4-sided die after generating your next encounter. If the die lands on a 4, then the pokémon is shiny.

» THE NUMBER OF POKéMON IN YOUR PARTY DETERMINES HOW MANY WILD POKEMON YOU CAN GENERATE PER POST.
To clarify, if you have four pokémon on your person then you may only battle up to four wild pokémon in one post.

» YOU DECIDE THE LEVEL OF ANY WILD POKéMON YOU ENCOUNTER.
But it cannot exceed the lowest level pokémon on your team (e.g. if you have a level five wailmer and a level seven togepi,
then any wild pokémon you fight must be level five or lower). You may encounter second- or third-stage pokémon at their
                              appropriate evolution levels.

» WILD POKéMON BATTLES DO NOT HAVE TO BE DECIDED BY DICE ROLLS.
Use your best judgment and be realistic with your encounters. In this role play, wild pokémon are feral creatures. Many of
them are predators who will attack without provocation.

» YOU MUST CAPTURE OR KILL ANY WILD POKéMON YOU ENCOUNTER.
But in dire circumstances fleeing may be the wisest alternative. However, your pokémon will not earn experience if you flee
before any damage has been dealt. Beating the pokémon unconscious and leaving it to die of infection from its wounds or
from predatory attack is another means to defeat it but is generally frowned upon. Furthermore, expending precious medicine
on an injured creature that one does not intend to capture is considered faint-hearted and even criminal in some provinces.

» YOUR POKéMON CANNOT DIE DURING THESE ENCOUNTERS.
Or, I should say, it's entirely up to you. Dice rolls are not mandatory and you always have the option of fleeing before your
pokémon faints. Returning a pokémon to its ball will temporarily convert it into a stasis of pure energy until it can be healed
at a pokémon center (referred to by the region's locals as "healing centers").

» NPC TRAINER BATTLES FALL UNDER ALL THE AFOREMENTIONED RULES.
With a few exceptions. You don't have to kill an NPC's pokémon (although you can if you want) and you can steal or otherwise
acquire an NPC's pokémon (it works the same way as capturing a wild pokémon).

» THE ANCIENT SANCTUARY AND FISHING ROD HAVE UNIQUE CAPTURE SYSTEMS.

» AN EGG MAY TAKE UP TO TEN POSTS TO HATCH.
Instead of a wild encounter you have the option of finding an unhatched egg containing the pokémon you have generated. If
you decide to take the egg, then an empty poké ball in your inventory will be put on reserve exclusively for the unborn
pokémon. Roll a 6-sided die for every post you make with the egg in your party. If it lands on a 6, then the egg will hatch in
your next post. After 10 posts, the egg will hatch regardless of your last roll. Once it hatches, the pokémon starts at level 1,
but will also immediately be docile toward its trainer (i.e. not feral). You may also abandon the egg before the pokémon
hatches or give it to another trainer.

» BREEDING REQUIRES TWO GENETICALLY COMPATIBLE POKéMON OF OPPOSITE GENDERS.
For obvious reasons. Use the egg groups from the pokémon games to determine whether two pokémon are compatible. A
ditto may breed with any non-legendary. Placing pokémon in the day care center isn't necessary for the breeding process. Two
days after copulation (according to the role play's calendar), the female will produce an egg.

The resulting egg can hatch into any first-stage pokémon from the mother and father's shared egg group. You get to decide
which pokémon will be produced. So, for example, if a meowth mates with an eevee, then the egg can hatch into any pokémon
                              from the field egg group.

                        LEVELS AND HP:

» EACH POKéMON YOU BATTLE WILL EARN YOUR POKéMON TWO LEVELS.
Regardless of whether you win or lose.

» POKéMON RECEIVED IN TRADES BETWEEN OTHER PLAYER CHARACTERS EARN BONUS EXPERIENCE FROM BATTLES.
For each battle a traded pokémon participates in, it will earn three levels.

However, pokémon received in trades will revert back to their feral phase and must be retamed.

» ACQUIRING A BADGE WILL AUTOMATICALLY RAISE ALL YOUR POKéMON FIVE LEVELS.
For example, if you have a level 9 metapod and a level 11 magikarp on your team, then acquiring the first badge will boost
them to level 14 and 16 respectively.

» THE METHODS OF EVOLUTION WILL REMAIN UNCHANGED FROM THE GAMES.
If a pokémon needs to be traded to evolve, you must find another character to trade with. Evolution stones are also needed
                              for certain pokémon.

If a pokémon evolves via friendship, then it is capable of evolution as long as it is tame.

» THE DAY CARE CAN ALSO BE USED TO LEVEL YOUR POKéMON.
How this works is you can leave up to two pokémon with the daycare staff in Fallen Sky Forest. Your pokémon will gain two
levels for every in-game calendar day they remain in the day care. This can be useful if you have to go on an extended
hiatus from the role play but still want your pokémon to continue to level up in your absence. Your pokémon can evolve while
in the day care if you wish.

» HP IS DETERMINED BY LEVEL TIERS.
A pokémon at level 1 starts with 1 HP. For every level it gains, its HP will increase by 1 (so at level 2, it will have 2 HP; at
                              level 35, 35 HP).

In case you don't feel like doing math: your level 5 starter will have 5 HP.

                        ITEMS:

» YOU CAN WIN RARE ITEMS BY POSTING OFTEN.
Possible prizes include specialized poké balls, TMs, evolution stones, and revives. Every few pages I'll select a number
at random based on the thread's post count to determine the prize recipient. For example let's say there are 35 posts in
the IC thread and I randomly generate number 19, then the 19th poster on the IC thread wins an item. It follows that posting
                              frequently will better your chances.

» ITEMS MAY ALSO BE AWARDED BASED ON THE EFFORT AND CREATIVITY YOU PUT INTO YOUR POSTS.
Every week or so, depending on the progress of the RP, I'll create a character-specific poll on the OoC thread that will
enable you to win items based on the quality of your posts.

» YOU MAY RANDOMLY GENERATE ONE ITEM PER DAY.
Here is a thread with further instructions.

» ITEM EFFECTS ARE FAIRLY CONSISTENT WITH THE GAMES.
Below is a list of obtainable items and their effects. For further description of items, please refer to this thread.
                                  ◦ Revives can bring a dead pokémon back to life.
                                  ◦ Potions, herbal medicine, and many other recovery items have the same result: they
restore half a pokémon's HP. These healing items can also be used to bring a human back
from the verge of death; however, revives are incapable of resurrecting human characters.
                                  ◦ There are a few exceptions to this. Remedies designed to target specific ailments (such
as paralyze heal and certain berries) are not intended for general use and will only heal the
specified status effect. Full restores will heal all status ailments and fully recover a pokémon's
HP. Max potions also fully heal a pokémon's HP.
                                  ◦ HP UPs give a pokémon one extra hit point.
Apricorn balls do not automatically tame a captured pokémon. The pokémon
will be considered feral until you train it, and it may turn hostile toward the trainer if summoned
into battle. All poké balls are recyclable. You retain the capsule should you fail to
capture a wild pokémon on the first - or subsequent - attempt or if the pokémon permanently
leaves your party (dies or is released).
                                  ◦ Premium poké balls are the ones commonly seen in the games and anime. However,
in this role play they will be considered extremely rare artifacts. Using one to capture a
pokémon will immediately render it docile toward the trainer.

Poké Marts have not yet taken root in the Halcyon region, so currency is irrelevant (although it does exist within the
region you will never have to keep track of your character's earnings). Therefore, all the above items aren't purchasable
and can only be acquired by winning contests or completing optional events. They may also be gifted or traded
                              to other characters.

» RAW APRICORNS CAN BE TURNED INTO APRICORN BALLS BY GIVING THEM TO ONE OF THE TECHNICIANS STATIONED AT A HEALING CENTER.
Technicians charge a small fee for their service: each apricorn ball they craft will cost exactly one item. The
item can be anything, a potion, evolution-inducing stone, or even another apricorn ball.

FIGHTING WITH AND TAMING FERAL POKéMON:

» FERAL POKéMON ARE SIMILAR TO SHADOW POKéMON IN THE ORRE REGION.
The six-sided die is still used during battles with other characters or gym leaders. But if you roll a one or a two then the
pokémon "hurts itself" and loses two HP (you can play this in any number of ways; for example, the pokémon may try
and attack its trainer and wind up sustaining damage when the trainer defends herself). A roll of three or higher dictates
that the pokémon has obeyed your command.

» THERE ARE TWO WAYS YOU CAN TAME A FERAL POKéMON.
After engaging in five battles the pokémon will become passive toward the trainer. Alternatively, if you leave the feral
creature outside its poké ball for five posts then it will be rendered docile. The two aren't mutually exclusive, so you
can choose to use both methods (three battles and two non-combat posts, for example).

» CATCHING A POKéMON IN A FRIEND BALL (A TYPE OF APRICORN POKé BALL) LESSENS ITS HOSTILITY.
It will only require three battles or non-combat posts to tame pokémon captured in friend balls.

» KEEP IN MIND THAT YOU ARE HANDLING UNDOMESTICATED MONSTERS.
Imagine trying to tame the pokémon's real world equivalent (whether it be a dinosaur, feral cat, or wolf) and transfer that
level of risk over to the process of training feral pokémon. Of course, humans are allowed to carry weapons and their
bodies have become more durable over time to survive on a planet inhabited with destructive and deadly creatures.

                        CHARACTERS:
WHY DON'T YOU TRUST ME? D8
» THERE IS NO SECRET PM TITLE.
I will trust in humanity's better nature and assume you've read the plot and rules (or at least given them a brief once-over).

» THE RESTRICTIONS ON CHARACTERS ARE EXTREMELY LAX.
You can create any sort of trainer, coordinator, or grizzled old toothless sea captain that you wish.

» ALL CHARACTERS START WITH ONLY ONE LEVEL FIVE POKéMON IN ITS FIRST STAGE OF EVOLUTION.
(e.g. bellsprout, onix, pichu) Your starter is presumably tamed, but if you wish to begin your journey with a feral pokémon
                              that is also acceptable.

» YOU CAN BEGIN ANYWHERE IN THE REGION.

» ALL CHARACTERS START WITH A LIMITED NUMBER OF ITEMS.
To be exact: two ready-to-use apricorn poké balls of your choosing and five restorative items (potions, herbal medicine,
                              lemonade, etc).

                    PROFILE SKELETON:

After your reserve is accepted you will create a test thread containing your character's
profile. It must use the coding provided. Sample profile. Pokémon sprites
(needed for the profile) can be found in this thread.

All characters start with only one pokémon, five healing items, and two apricorn balls of your
choice. Your starter cannot be legendary and you cannot begin your journey with revives or
max potions (these items are rare and would not be in the possession of novice trainers).

If you want to create additional posts to provide more information about your character (say, their
theme song, likes/dislikes, badges earned, or anything else), then you may do so. You may
also wish to create a secondary post for trade requests (namely, pokémon your character
would like to add to their team); this will enable other people to know which pokémon you are
currently coveting and if they happen to randomly generate it, then they may offer to catch it for
you in exchange for one of your pokémon or empty poké balls (or if they're exceedingly
generous they may simply give it to you).

                  RECURRING NON-PLAYER CHARACTERS:

Recurring non-player characters (NPCs) are slight variations of the generic NPCs your
character can encounter on their journey. Recurring NPCs can take the form of allies or rivals
that periodically interact with your character. A few caveats:

» Not all NPCs need to be created using this system. This is only for recurring
NPCs (like rivals, friends, allies, etc). If you intend to use an NPC only once then you can
simply introduce and interact with them in your post without going through this creation process.
» Unless the NPC's creator gives you permission, you may not use or control their NPCs.
» The pokémon in a recurring NPC's party cannot be traded or captured, regardless of whether
or not they are generated. If the NPC receives a pokémon from a player-character, then that
pokémon becomes permanently attached to the NPC and cannot be traded back or recaptured.
» They are for personal and occasional use, and are unable to generate or gain items.
» They cannot use TMs and cannot raise eggs. However, player-characters can use their consumable
items (potions, full heals, etc.) on recurring NPCs.
» You may create one recurring NPC for every player-character you control in the RP. Requests
for additional NPCs will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. You may also remove an NPC
from the role play when you feel they are no longer needed.
» You do not have to create any recurring NPCs at all if you do not want to; but the option is
                        always available.
» You do not have to use the random number generator to create their pokémon team, and your
character's pokémon will gain the same amount of levels from battling their non-generated
pokémon as they would from battling randomly generated wild pokémon.
» Preferably, their team should not exceed the number of pokémon your character currently
owns, but if you wish for them to have more pokémon then you may discuss the matter with me
                        before submitting their reserve.
» They may gain or lose pokémon (randomly generated or otherwise) at your discretion. But
before you alter their team, notify me via PM or on the OoC thread.

To create a recurring NPC, you must first send in the reservation form provided below. After it is
accepted, I will add it to the dramatis personae section. Don't worry about the spatial
arrangement of their pokémon team or personal description; I will fix all of that before posting it
                  on the thread.

in an aircraft or on the back of a winged pokémon. The city
itself is an organic life-form that evolves and expands to
accommodate an ever-growing populace. However, the rate of
expansion is slow and severely limits the number of new
occupants allowed to permanently relocate to the city.

                      WEATHER FORECAST:

Clear skies in the early morning, the temperature is predicted to be
warmer than yesterday, transitioning to an afternoon of abundant sunshine
                      and oppressive heat.

                      REGIONAL EVENTS:

TAUROS FESTIVAL: Today, Whoreskin Canyon will host the annual Tauros Wrestling Festival,
a competition in which each challenger must clobber a hot-blooded tauros to the ground using only their bare-fists.
Further rules and instructions are provided below:

» No specific gear is required, but all contestants must enter the bullpen unarmed or risk elimination.
All pokémon and weapons can be safely left with the contest judges.
» The festival takes place on Whoreskin Canyon's main street.
» Competitors may forfeit at any time. If you are knocked unconscious or killed, you will be disqualified.
» You will not be disqualified should the tauros break free of its enclosure.
» Competitors will roll one 8-sided die each. The number it lands on corresponds to the speed and skill
your character will display during their turn: a roll of 3 or lower is counted as a failure (either a
forfeiture or disqualification), a roll of 4 or higher results in success. The highest roll
                            determines the victor.

DIGLETT INFESTATION: A family of diglett has holed up in Crux Town's
                      fields
. Dr. Tannen is paying trainers to eradicate the infestation. Bring her a
diglett's severed head and you will be rewarded one super potion.
Limited to one reward per person.

HARUSPICY: Deep in the labyrinth of Route 3's badlands resides a bronze
vessel scored with ancient inscriptions. Legend has it that good fortune will
follow all those who place the entrails of a fire pokémon inside this sacred
vessel. (Completion of this event will entitle you to generate an additional
                      random item for the day.)

FIRST BASTION: Defeat Whoreskin Canyon's guardian to earn the Sordid Badge.
The first person to lay claim to this badge will also receive one premier ball and
                      two potions
. Everyone else will be given one love ball as a consolation prize.

BUNEARY SWARM: Trainers alert! Swarms of buneary have been sighted
running rampant on Route 4. These little menaces are propagating like, well, buneary
and only their immediate and total extermination can save the Halcyon region's delicate
                      ecosystem.

LUCKY RABBIT'S FOOT: As fate would have it, several of the waitresses at the
Whoreskin saloon happen to frequent the local casino and are offering to exchange a
lemonade for a lucky buneary's foot.
