Trope it up!
What tropes from tvtropes.org does the Nobody Conundrum fill?
Author Appeal:
I. It's a yaoi roleplay. That should say enough.
II. The Lesser Nobodies are also getting shipped together... In a yuri pairing. Because James, Amber, and Seven
are insane dare to be unique. Yeah.
III. If anyone points out how how Nadra is a pretty intelligent black woman, Zexion is an intelligent sarcastic young man, or how Lexaeus is just about damn near perfect, James just coughs. Oh, no, those aren't his dream dates, not at all.
IV. We're also pretty sure Seven has a kink regarding sadistic, blood-spilling blondes, because she also has an OC with the same tastes in hobbies as Larxene.
Ax Crazy:
I. Voxden seems to take a special kind of delight in causing harm. Talk about harming Ienzo, his Heartless leader, and watch as that delight turn to murderous rage.
Badass Longcoat:
I. Piss off one of the Organization, whether it's the cunning but book-inclined Zexion, the cute and giggling Larxene, or the charming gambling Brit Luxord, and watch as your a** gets beat.
II. Averted with Voxden, who doesn't wear a coat at all but a weird sort of half... doctor... jacket... thing. Voxden, what the hell are you wearing!?
III. Inverted with Ienzo, whose rather geeky black labcoat is actually made out of Darkness and can be molded into almost anything he wants... Except that it's rather easy to cut through, although few know that.
Beta Test Baddie:
I. The Organization, almost all of whom are attempting to get their hearts back.
II. Ienzo also counts, as he doesn't believe that his and Zexion's seperation is a good thing and that they should become one thing again.
III. Averted with Voxden, Somnam, and Xandra, all who don't seem to truly care about their missing hearts, and some who even seem happy without them.
Black Coak:
I. Again, the Organization.
II. Averted with Voxden, who wears white, the 'good guy color', except... He's a violent ******** whose evil, blood-shedding tendencies are only kept in check by his deranged loyalty to Ienzo.
III. Inverted with Ienzo, who wears a black labcoat (which can gain a hood if he wants it to), yet is one of the few characters who genuinely has good intentions. They're just, er, hindered by his Heartless urges and insanity, which he does a good job of keeping in check.
Blessed with Suck:
I. With Xehanort's Heartless vanquished by Sora by this point of the RP, Ienzo is technically one of the strongest Heartless in existence... However, he 'earned' this power by helping his infatuation gain power (and Xehanort had just been using him in the first place), destroying his beloved home world, sentencing his close adoptive family to a fate worse than death, became the reason why hundreds of people died, unleashed the Heartless upon the worlds, had to become all alone (for a while), had to become a Heartless with hard-to-control urges and the occasional bout of insanity... And just about every good-oriented creature, keyblade wielders in particular and even the Organization, would rather like him dead.
II. Xandra's element is extremely useful in intelligence-gathering, but since becoming a Nobody, her skin is extremely sensitive, so whenever skin-to-skin contact is established with her, she practically goes into shock.
Breather Episode:
I. Seven is apparently hellbent on having Larxene drag Luxord on a date. Knowing both the RPer and her character's determination, this will probably happen.
Cargo Ship:
I. James is actually quite surprised that no one has mentioned Ienzo/Photo Album yet, considering the usual crack that comes on here.
Cherry Blossoms:
I. Just because Marluxia is elementally inclined towards plants and flowers, don't mistake him for a pink-haired sissy, even when he shows off by having cherry blossoms (sakura in Japanese) float around. Marluxia isn't thinking of your dumb shoujo, he's thinking of the real legend behind cherry blossoms, which is that they were originally white but turned pink when a body was buried unerneath the tree. (Blood red + petal white = cherry blossom pink). Thus, they also, more often than not, symbolize DEATH. That scythe ain't for show, you know.
The Chessmaster:
I. Xemnas, Zexion, and Marluxia are the kind of people you'd expect this from, but the real Chessmaster in The Nobody Conundrum is...
II. Ienzo. This is the Heartless who, after the Organization stole the photo album which is key to keeping his sanity and memories, came up with a plan that goes as thus: He sent Voxden to The Castle That Never Was with him hiding in Voxden's shadow, so that when Voxden confronted Demyx, Kulex, and Xandra (all who had just arrived) and Naminé was nearby, Ienzo could kidnap Naminé while Voxden kept the Organization members busy. This quickly drew more of the Organization to combat the intruder and force him to spill where Naminé is (although they were unsuccessful). So, while at least EIGHT of the Organization were combating Voxden's tricky a** and a few more were busy taking care of the injured/staying out of the battle, Ienzo both had his other agents steal almost all of the Organization's information and his photo album from Xemnas' while at the same time, he was doing a wonderful job of convincing Naminé to leave the Organization. Then, he came back right as Voxden was being tortured into submission, with the ruse that he wanted to 'trade' Naminé for Voxden, while he really just wanted her to give time to think and compare the two. (While it's true that he does love Voxden and is emotionally dependent on him, and didn't mean for the torture to happen, returning Naminé was always a part of his plan. ) And this is just the
beginning.
III. By extension as Ienzo's RPer, James.
Cooldown Hug:
I. Lexaeus doesn't just hug Zexion when the latter is on the verge of freaking the hell out, but he actually picks up the sleeping Schemer and carries him to his room.
II. Naminé ponders doing this to Ienzo when he has a mental and emotional breakdown, but in the end just settles for gently placing her hand in his hair. It works.
Crazy Prepared:
I. Guess what Ienzo's going to do with all that stolen information.
Crouching Moron Hidden Badass:
I. Go ahead. Laugh at dear, goofy, loveable, dorky, playful Demyx. Then piss him off. Remember, children, when your body is 60% water, it's not a good idea to tangle with the guy with no emotions (thus no remorse) and the ability to control water.
Dark Action Girl:
I. Larxene. C'mon, it was obvious.
Dark Is Not Evil:
I. Ienzo can manipulate his coat of darkness to any shape he wishes, travel through shadows, use the corridors of darkness (to a degree), and is in fact a Heartless, one of "baddies" of the Kingdom Hearts universe... But when not faced with an enemy (aka some one who wants to kill him), he shows himself to be rather pleasant, and even apologizes to Naminé for kidnapping her and offers brownies as an apology.
Elemental Powers:
I. Most of the characters, both canon and OC.
Evil Is Not A Toy:
I. Ienzo has been the target of this, and thus has a firm belief regarding it.
Fake Memories:
I. Ienzo tells Naminé she could easily do this to the
entire Organization if she wished and if she practiced with her powers enough, which is why they don't make her a proper member.
Gender Bender:
I. Xigbar, Xaldin, Zexion, Luxord, Marluxia, and Somnam all had this happen to them when they traveled to the Amazon populated Themyscira so that they could fit in.
II. Also, voxden can do this, and doesn't seem to half mind the change.
The Heartless:
I. Quite obviously, Ienzo and any other Heartless that pop up.
II. Also, somewhat, Nobodies.
Ho Yay:
I. It's a yaoi RP. What are you expecting?
II. Averted with Larxene gleefully determined to kick dirt in Xigbar's face by flirting with Luxord.
Instrument of Murder:
I. Demyx's Sitar
Improbable Weapon User:
I. Zexion's Lexicon, Vexen's shield, Demyx's Sitar, Luxord's cards, Marluxia's scythe, Roxas and Xion's Keyblades, Kulex's pendulum, Somnam's censer, and Xandra's laptop...
II. Although she does, eventually, avert this trope, partially with the nature of her weapons and partially with the fact that she starts to just carry guns around because getting her weapon ready would be too much of a pain.
Jerk With A Heart Of Gold:
I. While Marluxia and Larxene are really conspirators planning to overthrow the Organization and generally think less of their team mates (and make it known), they know just about every single thing about the other's past life, and seem to care for each other very much.
II. Blunt and lacking in the empathy department, Xandra tends to come off as just a Jerk... But once you earn her trust, she'll watch out for your back, both in battle and in the homefront.
Literal Split Personality:
I. Ienzo and Zexion are both parts of the
original Ienzo, the apprentice of Ansem.
Living Shadow:
I. Ienzo, as a Heartless, can easily become this.
Loss of Identity:
I. It's been hinted that this could happen to Ienzo if he isn't careful.
Mad Scientist:
I. Vexen, quite obviously.
II. Voxden likes to play around with the idea that he's this, but if he's serious or not, only he and Ienzo know.
Magnificent b*****d:
I. While Xehanort/Xemnas is this, so is...
II. Ienzo. To see his awesome, just look above in 'Chessmaster'.
Massive Multiplayer Crossover:
I. Well, this is Kingdom Hearts.
Mike Nelson Destroyer Of Worlds:
I. The Original Six apprentices did this, although most of them by accident... Although that's debatable with Xehanort.
Musical Assassin:
I. Hey, Demyx.
Names To Run Away From Really Fast:
I. The Majority of the characters.
The Only One Allowed To Defeat You:
I. Unknown to the Organization, but Voxden's polite, almost knightly kiss on Demyx's hand in 99th Street wasn't a good thing... He tends to do this to people he particularly wants to kill, or finds interesting. The reversal of this (also unknown to the Org.) is when he kisses some one on the inside of their wrist. It's a sign of his devotion then.
