'If I die young...

Maia dropped the knife as he walked towards her,
she couldn't believe how handsome he was. She
knew for sure he was not a human.. The look in
his eyes, his charms-it was a look to lure women.
Maia looked away, but he lifted her chin to his face
winking. She felt weak in the knees, her stomach
churning-an aching feeling dwelling inside her.
"I.. I'll do anything...Just please don't hurt me."
Maia imagined large teeth, or a tale curled in
pits of fire. She was told growing up, that they
only used women to bear demons. Maia
reached for the knife, stabbing the knife into
his abdomen-scared and sick.

She was confused why he was laughing,
not doubling over in pain-blood all over him.
He bled no blood, of course, he was immortal
but it should bring some pain to him. She
let go of the knife as he easily pulled it from
him and threw it aside. Maia wrapped her arm
around her legs, waiting for something to happen.

Well I saw that you had a plot for this, and I'd love to hear it.

I was thinking that maybe the pirates could be searching for a treasure, or possibly trying to escape from something, and stumble upon an island where the mermaids live around. So the pirates set up camp on the island and some of the natives tell them stories about the mermaids that supposedly live around the island. However everyone believes they are just stories. Maybe it sparks a few of the pirates interests and they go off to try and spot, possibly capture? some of the mermaids. Meanwhile, the mermaids are watching the new humans and then eventually they meet?

I do have a plot,
but I like hearing ideas.
I like that idea.
But how about when they hear that mermaids live near the island they believe and i guess flip.
Cause mermaids were creatures that lured sailors to their death
and were known to destroy ships and such.
So they maybe try to capture one to make sure that no harm come to them from the other,
(like a hostage situation)
they plan to release the mermaid(s) after they get the treasure and leave safely and such.

Maybe instead of one, they capture two since we're doubling?
How about the two mermaids are related, like they are sisters or good friends.

how about if the mermaids are removed from water their fins change to legs?
would make it easier for travel I guess
