Welcome to The Nuthouse, an AT community thread. Here we are dedicated to bringing the whole AT community together to create a sense of belonging and fraternity among ATers, old and new.

We have rules here, you see. And if you do not follow the rules, there are consequences. They doctor doesn't like those who deviate from them, and the doctor is not very friendly when angered. Not friendly at all. In fact, if I were you, I wouldn't even think about toeing the line. Although, I do have wicked taste in handcuffs.

These are the rules of the institution, please follow them. They make the world run a little bit smoother. Besides, you don't really want all of us loonies to come after you. We are fierce when angered.

No bitching about your rate. A rate is an opinion, and everyone has a different one.
Respect everyone in the thread. We are building a community, lets try and get along.
Only the inpatients rate. You may rate the loonies, but no one else.
Stay and hang out. Get to know people, we are about bringing AT together.

These are the rates that we offer. Post the name of the rate(s) you want in the thread and one (or more!) of our awesome loonies will get to you right away. Please remember that a rate is only an opinion, and not a true cause for any upset. Please only pick two! And remember, us Loonies are only human, and skippage happens even though we try our hardest to avoid it.

Shrink's Diagnosis::Your basic percentage rate, from 0%-100% crazy!
Medicine::The best suggestions that we can dish up.
Shrink 'n Meds::Percentage+suggestions; best of both worlds. [Note: Some people find giving out number rates uncomfortable, so they are now optional for raters in the Nuthouse. Meaning, not every single shrink'n meds rate will have a number attached.]
Prozac::What we like about your avatar.
Lithium::What we hate about your avatar.
Special Prescription::This is a wild card rate. Each inpatient has selected a different rate that relates somehow to their disorder. They range from stories to pictures to everything in between.
Shock Therapy::A yes or no answer on whether you get into the HoF. Shrink's playing dirty. pirate Note: Your shrink can not shock you, (s)he'll lose his/her license. So don't ask for those rates together, please.

Welcome to group therapy. I see you would like to have some help overcoming your problems. I believe progress is best made when you work on it with other people -- whether you're working for them or against them. How does that make you feel? I hope it makes you feel good.

Monthly Avatar Contest::
This is a free contest. The prize is 5 pills to the winner. The contest runs every month, regardless of how many people enter. If there is only one entry, that person gets the pills.
Some contests will be centered around an idea, an item, a word, a theme, a color, a character, ect, others will be open. The theme for the next round will be announced as soon as entries close for the round prior. All contests end one week before pill distribution, to allow for judging. The raters will act as judges for the contest.

Hm? What is this, you ask? Well, this is the med distribution, but some of them loonies call it the Happy Maker. Why? Well, you never know which side of normal you are gonna end up on once you down the pills. Heck, you might not even know things are going a little south of up, even when the rest of us pick up on it quick. You see, once every two months we all take our pills, the pills that have been a-pilin' up over the past months. And one of us turns out a little sillier then the rest, and they get the crown. Mhmm, makes you crazy even thinkin' about it.

This is the Nuthouse's official ranking system. Patients collect their pills continuously, and at the end of two month, whoever has the most pills is the official head of the ward and totes supreme lunacy. The head of the ward reigns for the following months until the pills are once again counted. There are various ways to earn pills, listed below. This is not a cumulative award, at the end of every cycle everyone is granted a clean slate, and the madness begins again. The top three loonies every cycle will get fabulous art prizes, and the continuing saga of the heads of ward will be written up as a serial digest for all to enjoy.

Oh! Lookie here, it is the most valuable Loonie! I just adore the MVL. They are always such interesting people. It just makes me so bouncy, you know? Do you know? I know. I just love it. It is like, I see the MVL, and I just want to sing. Or dance. Or bounce. Will you bounce with me? Please? Come on, just one hop. I bet the MVL would bounce with me. Come on. Just this once?

The community spotlight is a member who deserves to be recognized for one reason or another. Maybe they make really awesome avatars, give really good suggestion, or are just a really awesome person. This person will change periodically, and should give you a taste of all the different, wonderful people that participate in this community.

Vivid Fizz



Vivid Fizz is one of few theme masters of the AT. She executes themes to the point that they are nearly perfect. Along with themed avatars, Vivid Fizz also makes outstanding matching avatars. She has won several times in the avatar arena (11 to be exact), and even made a thread to help hopeful ATers when it comes to placing in the AvA. She also makes threads regularly and is a great part of the AT Community.

There is so much I can about Vivid Fizz. First off all, she has amazing avatars. They're like, way better than most. In terms of themed avatars, I'm not sure there's a person who can do it better than her. She's a great member of the AT, and she also shows that great avatars can also place in the Avatar Arena. Dah-ling, these are our dearest loonies. While they might be a bit around the bend, I can assure you that almost all of them are utter sweethearts. Don't look so shy sweetie, they don't bite. Or at least not hard. Get to know them, embrace their quirks, and I promise that nothing bad will come of it. What do you mean, are they really mad? Of course they are mad! Don't worry your dear head about it, insanity isn't catching. I am perfectly normal, aren't I?

I am Tsivy. I am 17 and I live in good ol' california. I like art, fashion, boys, and beautiful avatars. I am into clutter, style, sensuality, whatever. I honestly like anything as long as it is done well. A lot of my rating is impacted by the wow factor. If your avatar impacts me, impresses me, it will most likely get a better rate then something that just matches well. I am a nice person, don't be intimidated by my manliness.

I'm Iokia, or Erin, whichever you'd like to call me. I'm a 24 year old college graduate that likes spending her free time dressing tiny people. I like avatars that strike me for a unique color scheme, item combination, character/style, or just being different. Above all, the thing I will rate you highest for is my ability to remember your avatar. If I see your avatar, and it's cool, but I'm not going to remember it in five minutes, I won't rate it as high. And I can be a distribution nazi at times.

I am a teenager living in Alberta, Canada. My hobbies include reading and watching old movies (from the 1930's-1960's). I love avatars that have good distribution and matching, and have unique color combinations. I hate common color schemes and clutterness.

Io here. I'm a 16-year-old girl living in Uruguay (That's South America, foo). I usually like avis with a certain order, not just a clutter blob or items thrown together. I'm a matching b*tch, I like original themes and funky color combinations. I don't really like cosplays and over-used themes/combos. And remember; skin balance *is* your friend 8D

Hi, Maramas here. I think style is a wonderful thing, but too many people use it as an excuse for hap-hazardous, half-baked matching. Not everything has to match, but you best pick one direction or the other, yo. I tend to like all sorts of looks, so go ahead and try me.

Hello, I'm Ben Dover! My real name happens to be Hanna... I'm female! In August, I'll turn 18, and will probably be in college. I've always liked making matching avatars, but I didn't start going into the AT until a few months ago. Oh, baby, I love the layers, and tasteful clutter. Though, I can be a bit of an elitist. (You see that tiny bit of red on your feet?Get some on your head!)

Call me love, bites, or lb. I'll answer to almost anything. I'm a 20 year-old college student, studying math, woo! Originality is key to me. Anyone can throw on some things that match, but is it original? People that dare to work with the odd colors or items really awe me; they are the ones that are thinking outside of the box and making avatars on a new level. Uhm, I really love monochromes, complicated clutter, matching and style/themed avatars.(So I guess I'm saying I really don't hate a type of avatar) Uhm, other than that I'm sixteen, live in Ohio. I'm nice? lmao, guess there's not much interesting things about me. So uh, yeah. hai.

Hellooo, Techi here. I'm 16, live in England, just South of London. It's a nice place. I've been in the AT since around '04, on my old account that got perma-banned, but I've always stuck in the AT, never really go anywhere else. What I look for in a good avatar is, ultimately, a good sense of style. Doesn't have to match, doesn't even have to have a theme, it just has to look like there was some thought put in to it. If anything, it needs good distribution, of skin and shades and warmth in colour. I'm pretty open to any style really.

I'm Hop... I've gone by many names... The number is somewhere in the double digits...I like pleasant layering and cohesive themes... Style is your friend. I've been in the AT for... A hell of a long time... And I've remained active most of it. I'm a writer damn it. Don't expect numbers from me.

Hey there, I'm ookami ashi, but you can call me ookami, ashi, ooky, or whatever funny name you can up with. I'm a male from wonderful New York. I've been in the AT for quite some time; I think I started somewhere around the beginning of 2007. Since my time in the AT, I've learned to love every single style of avatar making. My favorites, though, are simple avatars, realistic avatars, and backwards avatars. When I rate, I two things I am really nit-picky about are balance and item choice. So if you ask for suggestions, don't be surprised if they're mainly about those.
