I have a question. I'm really wanting to try my hand at the clutter theme, but I have no idea how to start it. Any suggestions?

Lol. You'd think, given the current state of my avatar, I'd be able to answer that. Honestly though I'm not entirely sure how to advise you. For me, I mostly just start piling stuff on. It helps, I think, to divide your avatar into areas as well. Start with the feet, move to the legs, torso, arms, and head in turn (maybe not necessarily in that order). It will also take a good understanding of what you have in your inventory and of how stuff layers. But mostly, you should just experiment with different things for yourself!

I have a helpful hint when it comes to clutter, if you get to a point where you really like what you've got, save it in an outfit spot. That way if you're experimenting with items and one happens to equip a major component of your outfit, you can just reequip the saved version, without having to wonder what exactly was lost.
[ I know this helps me a lot, because I'll notice something's been uneqipped, but I'm just not sure what it was! ]

I'm sure it will. I've tried that before, but I always get worried that I'm not gonna be able to balance it out and I start working on the avatar as a whole then.

That does happen sometimes, though that's where knowing your items comes in handy. I think though that with the wealth of items Gaia has now there's usually *something* in the right color for the right location, so long as you stick to the more usual colors.

Also, it usually helps to stick to smaller items, or shirts/hats/shoes/etc with multiple colors and lots of detail. It helps look like you're wearing more than you actually are.
