edit :: Making the thread here.

Would there be any interest in a contest where
there's a survival type story going on
that's based on the character avatars the contestants submit,
something like the Hunger Games,
where the survivor(s) win and everyone else must die
(though I wouldn't make it mandatory for only one person to win,
but I'd probably have a max number that can win),
or maybe survival where they have to figure out how to get to safety
and win by being the first to do so.
But they can interact with each other and with the environment.

It wouldn't be an avatar intense contest,
more so about your choices in your story,
but the story and your options depend on the original character you submit.

It'd be really complicated
and I don't have all the mechanics figured out,
but it's just an idea I had.
Not even sure if I would do it. xD

-----------------------

If you have ideas for how it could work out,
I'd love to hear them.

Here's stuff I've thought up so far:

To survive, you need a minimum amount of water and food,
and if you want to sleep, you must have shelter.
Not having enough food or water or sleep won't kill you immediately,
but not having enough will have realistic effects (dehydration, weight loss, etc.),
and you'll die in a realistic amount of time.

The avatar you create will be an "average" person (or creature)
with potential for strengths and weaknesses.
You'd provide an in-depth bio of them,
and I myself will interpret strengths and weaknesses
(so that players can't "cheat" by making their character awesome).
These strengths and weaknesses will play into your options and results.

You'll have free range in an isolated land that I make up,
and you can stumble upon the other contestants' characters
and interact with them.

Do it, Sher. I will love you forever if you do this

EDIT - Idea! To make it like Hunger Games you could intentionally have us meet up - like you're the Gamemaker - and then the contest is a series of 1 v 1 contests. Maybe you could predetermined partners by numbers and we could roll every round? For fairness of randomizationation.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean.

Also, I just used Hunger Games as a comparison.
I didn't mean to actually create a Hunger Games contest. xD

Okie. Start with a larger number of contestants. Let's say 24 - just like Hunger Games. Instead of 24 competing and two or three being eliminated have everyone participate in a 1v1 contest with another player.

Course, that eliminates half the contestants. And the contest would only be four rounds.

But, you could always have ways to extend it, if you wanted . . . hmmm, I'll have to think of them though xDD

Am I making more sense yet? ^ ^;;

Ooooh, I getcha. Nevermind then xDD

Alright, but how do they battle?
It sounds a lot different than the free range story based idea I had in mind.

Hmmm, well, you would choose some sort of situation for them to be in - based on the strengths/weaknesses they sent in the beginning - and they would create avis and stories to match it. Like, "Contestant X and Contestant Y both come to the same small lake. How do you overcome the other contestant and secure the area for yourself?"

Though, thinking about it now, I guess there'd actually have to be a lot of collaboration between the two for the stories, huh?

This is completely off that topic - but you could also do rounds where no one is eliminated. Rounds where the contestants are basically "collecting supplies" or trying to find ways to better their situation. Depending on how well their entry scores they'll get a certain number of bonus points for the next elimination they take places in . . .

Well, to be honest, I hadn't imagined it'd be a round based contest.
I figured it'd just go day by day,
and people are eliminated whenever they happen to die,
whether that's because of another character or because of starvation or whatever.
I do plan to have disasters and stuff happen, though,
much like in Hunger Games, just to keep things interesting.

I did imagine there'd be a lot of collaboration between contestants for the story, though.
It'll be very complicated and hard to coordinate.
But it should make for a pretty cool game.

I dunno when I'd want them to make avatars for the contest.
I don't think I'd judge off of them or anything,
beyond to discern their strengths and weaknesses.
Maybe an avatar before they got isolated,
and an avatar shortly after they get isolated.
And then just make a new avatar when something important enough happens
that might change the way a person looks
(such as starving or getting wounded or something),
or maybe avatars for the scenery or something they encounter.
But again, I don't intend it to be an avatar-intense contest.
It very well could be like only 2 avatars that people make.
But the story will be based off those avatars.
