I want to make a new avatar, but I'm hopelessly stuck. I'm trying to go for a dark theme (but not evil), and I'm thinking... spirit? Demon? Something else? I'm not sure. I'd like your ideas.

I'd probably try using the Mizuchi's Jewel+Order of Atlantis for ideas.
Try meshing those two items, find a pose from each you like, then work from there.
