Yeah you could always try out the Orinkage.
It pretty much is a replacement for the original steel ninja band. And there's also Orinkage Hurricane which has a ninja head band around the waist.

I like finding cheap alternatives, but I'm bad with money as it is and I just have this weird feeling if I don't use the actual thing I want. If I can't make an avi using this one item, and I can't find something that even remotely looks good with it, I refuse to even try and finish it because it bugs me so much.
