Sticky: Avatar System Forum Location - Should it move?

Ooh hey thanks for looking into this! I think it's necessary to have a subforum related to avy glitches so that the artists can fix them quicker. 3nodding It's a slow moving forum so it's not hard to find the glitches.

Mostly I see that users make threads that are about glitches related to the items on their avatar (items not layering correctly or cutting the hair, etc). And the green transparency glitch is always a winner. So those are the main ones.

But as to making the Bugs subforum an actual forum, I'm on the fence about it. The Bugs subforum could be appropriate for the Q&A as well as the C&T forum. Having it become a forum all by itself doesn't seem like the right choice when we already have those two forums. Users might become confused on where to report their problems. But if you do make it a forum the Avy 3.0 subforum would fit right in.

And if you just wanted to move the avy 3.0 subforum, it is rather difficult because it can be both a question related to the Q&A forum (ex: "Why is my avatar green?" ) or the SF forum (ex: "Can you fix this glitch developers?" ) Hence the name "Q&F", right? But I believe in the past the admins made it possible for the subforum to appear in two different forums at the same time (like a "ghost" of the forum, right?). Would it be possible to have it in both the Q&A and the SF? Or would that take up too much space?

I suppose the problem might be that this is a rather neglected subforum. There isn't much to it since there is merely one purpose to it--reporting glitches on avatar items. Maybe it should be expanded a little to include other questions that could be related to avatars (such as avatars not showing up in the forums or avatars not showing up in the customize me etc ). I don't think it should be trashed, though. It is an important subforum.

Maybe you might want to consider putting it in a subforum of the Avatar Talk subforum? I'm not sure if that subforum receives a lot of avatar related problems but it really isn't a very popular idea to make a sub-subforum. arg

So, (TL;DR XD) maybe the avy 3.0 can be in both the Q&A and the SF forums as a subforum and keep Bugs the way it is. That's my opinion. 3nodding

Also: It would be great to have rules in the avy 3.0 subforum so users can know what is appropriate to post in here. Thank you!

I think we need to have the subform for avatar glitches because the Q&A to me is more general questions whereas the avvie system subform pertains to our avvies themselves. If it was to be moved, I could see it in with the Bugs forum, but I suppose it'd work as a subform for ST too. Gah, it's too difficult to decide. I'd guess I'd like to see it as a subform for the Bugs/Technical forum. Thanks for letting us give input on this.

I'm having problems with the password. I was trying to recreate my character, changing his eye color, but when I try to type my password to go back to my avatar page, it tells me I've entered the wrong password and redirects me to this quest for new-comers.

I believe if you have special characters in your password it will do that. Try changing your password and then recreating your avatar. 3nodding

Next time ask in the Questions and Assistance main forum instead of this one. This is specifically for feedback regarding the Avy 3.0 subforum and whether it should be moved or not. Thanks!

We do still need this sub-forum, or at least some place in which to report item bugs, because of the volume of them. However its description and probably name I think needs to change.

Current Description

Comments, Questions, and Bug Reports for the new Avatar system.

Changing it to something like Item Bug Reports (for example), and just having it as a place solely for reporting item bugs in would be better. Reason being:

1. Most avatar related questions asked here could just be asked in Questions & Assistance.

2. I've seen a few posts wanting certain poses or layering options for items, which could go in Site Feedback. And any other kind of comments on the Avatar System can go in SF as well I feel.

Basically I don't think there's enough content outside of item reports that we really need this forum to be an all-round avatar reports/questions forum. The majority of thread/post type made in this forum are to report problems with items (missing bits, green areas, layering issues, etc)


I do see reporting bugs/problems with any area of the site as a kind of feedback on the site. So Avatar System 3.0 Q&F could go in SF, and might get more users reporting problems there. But it's probably more appropriate being grouped with Bug Reports & Technical Support. There could just be a thread for reporting avatar bugs in Bug Reports, but if it's easier to keep track of things with threads made in a forum, then having Bug Reports as a top-level forum and Avatar System 3.0 Q&F as a sub-forum might be better. And it would make it easier for users to find a place to report bugs they come across.

I don't think it'd be appropriate in C&T as that forum is for tech problems with computers, etc in general. Q&A, Bug Reports and this forum are for problems specifically to do with Gaia.

No, I was suggesting that there could just be a thread for Item bug reports in the Bug Reports & Technical Support sub-forum, but if a forum dedicated to gathering reports as threads would be easier to keep track of reports, then having Bug Reports & Technical Support as a top forum (a forum on the Index page, breaking free of Q&A) with Item Bug Reports, (or something like that) as a re-named version of Avatar System 3.0 Q&F dedicated to bug reports for avatar items as a sub-forum of that.

Hello Gaians,

We are looking at changes to Q&A and to Site Feedback to help users and staff communicate better. When it comes to the Avatar System subforum, where do you think it belongs? Is it mostly for users asking users about their avatars (Q&A), reporting Avatar bugs? (could go with Bug Reports, as a top-level forum) or for requesting new features to the staff? (Site Feedback). Do we still need this subforum or do the topics fit elsewhere?
