Really the last avatar? (spoiler if not up to book 3,maybe)

I have a question... you know how in book two, she said she's the last avatar cause she said she stopped the cycle/the cycle was broken... did it come back? lol
cause in book 3, it was mostly about the red lotus trying to kill the avatar in the avatar state so they could stop the cycle....(?)
...so does that mean she's not the last avatar?
maybe if she just told them that she already broke the cycle, she might not have been poisoned...maybe xd
cause man, im so sad... book 3 ended with Korra looking like she was about to die or something. ;A;

In the second book the link to her past lives was broken, the cycle was still intact because she wasn't killed in the avatar state

Only the connection to her past lives were severed, other than that everything was fine.
Unfortunately the cycle started anew where Korra is basically like the first avatar for her time, like Wan was.
So she's trying her best to protect the cycle for future avatars.
