I have a feeling the whole firebending killing his family is a lie, and only trying to win the crowd over.
But... With the spirital side.. Maybe he did talk with them?
Korra completely lacks the spiritual side, but amon seems to be able to have that side.
He also supposed to have a power only the avatar can have.

Not true, the avatar isn't the only one who can have that power, the avatar is just the only one to have used it that people remember. The sea-turtle taught aang how to take away peoples bending and said something about the days of old before the avatar existed remember? Which implies that the avatar isn't the only one who can use the power.

I bet Amon is lying about several things. I don't think he was given this power by the Spirits to rid the world of bending, and I don't think his face is scarred at all. I'm betting we will meet him later in the series without the mask, as a different person. P:

Also, I think his goal is to take away everyone's bending, only to then reveal he is a great bender himself and can then demand to be crowned king of the world because no one can stop him.
