and has her eyes pointing anywhere but forward.

I understand that some people who are blind DO move their eyes, but in the case of Toph she has not once moved her eyes in any direction, and I don't see why she would. She's completely blind, from birth. Moving her eyes wouldn't even become a habit. If there is something for her to "look" at, she moves her head to that she can hear it better, usually -awway- from the noise.

I don't know, just a huge pet peeve of mine. Gotta be consistency even if it's just fanart.

Perhaps they don't know how to draw eyes focusing straight ahead? I remember I drew eyes like that as a lil kiddy. xD

That could be a reason... but it's always with *good* art, and the eyes are nice... just focused where they're not meant to be. I always find focusing straight ahead to be easier than anywhere else. Less need for dramatics when you can't use your eyes to speak for you.

Ikr?
I'm actually pretty sure that I saw her move her eyes once in the show and thought it was weird, since she's blind. Maybe that's what they're basing it off of?

[ I get the picture of what you are saying, I agree people who make fan art of her's should pay more attention to that. Then it wouldn't make sense xD ]

Actually the first few fanart pictures I saw on there were doing exactly what I was talking about.

There's some pretty good examples. Good art, but the eyes... oh, the eyes.

I dunno. It doesn't bother me because even if someone is blind, it doesn't mean they can't move their eyes. It's kinda dumb to think that. I just say this because I've had people in my classes in high school who were blind but would move their eyes in directions of sounds half the time.

In my first post I said that I know that people who are blind do sometimes move their eyes, but in the show Toph does not. It's about consistency. Also, were the people in your classes blind from birth or did they become blind later in life? That would change things because it would be out of habit and not because of function. It also depends on the severity of blindness. If someone has any vision whatsoever (a lot of people who are blind can still see to some extent) it would be more likely that they would move their eyes in the direction of a noise. But in the show, Toph is completely blind and does not have any sense of sight whatsoever.

I'm pretty sure she did move her eyes a couple of times or was looking at a person who was speaking directly to her. Of course, more often, she would only move her head rather than focus on eye movement. And in my class, there was one guy who was blind from birth {he played guitar pretty cool, haha}. But he would move his eyes around a lot. Especially when a person was talking to him. His eyes would shift back and forth and they looked like Toph where it was dulled out in color so he was completely blind. He'd always have an escort. The others were a force of habit I guess? I don't know for sure if they were blind at birth or not but that one guys was.
