I SWEAR THIS STARTED OUT AS A FEW PARAGRAPHS AND I KEPT WRITING AND WRITING AND WRITING D';
So yeah, my little version of LOK's first season:
Korra and the Airbender kids have more development. Let her have one-on-one time with them while babysitting and learn patience dealing with them. They can also learn a thing or two about responsibility.
Amon and Tarrlok's backstory is cool, but not for the main villain. Switch it to Tahno and Tarrlok. Tahno is trying to achieve fame to get out of the slums while Tarrlok is trying to achieve political power to also get out of the slums alongside Tarrlok. Both use Bloodbending to get what they want.
Tahno is a capable Waterbender. He and Korra have a face-off in the finals and go at it like animals before Tahno uses subtle Bloodbending to slow Korra down and win the face-off. Amon breaks in and takes Tahno's bending. Tahno offers Korra "private lessons" again and teaches her how to Bloodbend.
There's a territory war going on among the bending triads. Amon is paying off bending triad leaders to off one another, and then he moves in and takes the bending away from whoever wins these battles. Tahno is part of a gang called the Red Monsoons, and although he can't bend, Tahno still coordinates their movements to protect his home and his territory. Amon takes down the Red Monsoons and kills Tahno.
Tarrlok goes apeshit because he lost his brother (still unknown information) and goes on a hunt for Amon alone. The two meet, and Tarrlok is about to have his bending taken away before he offers Amon information-the location of the other council members. Amon lets Tarrlok go and the council members are all attacked the following weeks. Tarrlok uses this as an excuse to assume absolute power-Tenzin can't oppose because he needs to protect himself and his family.
Tarrlok runs the city and begins to rally the bending triads. He unites them and creates a bending force to oppress the nonbenders in an attempt to find Amon. Korra gets pissed and faces Tarrlok. Tarrlok harbors angry feelings toward her because it was her who Amon targeted that day he attacked the pro-bending arena, not his brother Tahno. They fight, and Tarrlok reveals he's a bloodbender. Korra tries to bloodbend even though it's not a full moon yet, and fails. Tarrlok reveals that only he and his brother Tahno are capable of bloodbending without a full moon, and he reveals that he's his brother. He traps Korra and drives away with her, and drops her off in some cabin he once stole in the past.
Korra tries to spiritually connect with Aang, but fails. As she looks up at the full moon, crying lightly to herself because she failed as the Avatar, she enters the Avatar state unintentionally. Avatar Kuruk comes to comfort her, and tell her that a true Waterbender doesn't give up when things get tough. When confronted with a rock, water will go around it, or over it, but it will never stop. He tells her that she will find a way out of her prison, and shes temporarily taken over by him. Fueled by the full moon, she/he bends the water in the air and creates ice to destroy the prison and escape.
Korra tries to find her way home but can't. Realizes she's in the Earth Kingdom once she comes across a quiet, quaint town full of nonbenders. They treat her wounds and give her a place to stay, and also invite her to a welcoming parade for a special visitor. Korra doesn't tell anyone she's the Avatar, feeling like a failure because she couldn't save her friends. She joins in with the welcoming ceremony for the Fire Nation Ambassador, Zuko. He approaches her and states that he's honored to meet with the Avatar, surprising everyone who thought she was a nonbender, including Korra herself. They sit for tea and Zuko strikes up a conversation on how her life has been, and she tells him about the hardships shes been going through, not being able to fulfill her expectations and being a failure. Zuko, no stranger to these feelings, tells her that she must choose her own destiny, not a destiny chosen by someone else. She must look deep inside herself and ask herself the big questions; who is SHE, and what does SHE want, not Republic City. She answers that she wants to protect the city and her friends and the world, to which Zuko happily agrees and tells her that she must free herself from the rash and judgmental views of Tarrlok and Amon, and not let them bother her.
The town is attacked by a group of rogue Metalbenders descended from the bandit Sandbenders from TLA. They mention being part of the "Hami" tribe, the same tribe that stole Appa. They attack and defeat the bodyguards that are supposed to protect Zuko. Zuko does nothing but sip his tea as Korra takes the stand and faces them. They defeat her and take her down, taunting her and saying she's nothing compared to Avatar Aang, and that now that he's gone, they are free to pillage and steal as much as they want. Korra tries to enter the Avatar state but fails, and then frees herself with Airbending. She defeats the Metalbenders and traps them. Zuko sips his tea and smiles, asking for more.
The next day, the two go to Republic City and Zuko leaves before they reach it, telling her that this is her fight and he must return to the Fire Nation. Korra returns to the city to find that Tenzin and his entire family is missing, and the city is still under Tarrlok's rule. The bending police is strict and forceful, and they eventually arrest Korra-to which she doesn't put up a fight. Brought before Tarrlok in the capital building, he orders that she be "sent to Amon," and Korra freaks out, accusing Tarrlok of working with Amon. He denies this, and tells her that while Amon is still the enemy, he will punish those who oppose him by sending them to him. If they're not with Tarrlok, they can join Amon. Korra breaks free from her containment and attacks Tarrlok. He attempts to bloodbend her, and is successful before she manages to break free, and defeat him. The capital building is suddenly bombed, and Amon reveals himself, stating he was waiting for the Avatar's return. Korra decides, as the Avatar, that both Tarrlok and Amon be wiped out. She attacks Amon and he manages to dodge all of her attacks, including her Airbending attacks as shes still new at it. Unable to catch him, shes overpowered once Lieutenant moves in with Amon to fight her.
There are more attacks on the city, and Tarrlok's personal body guards show up. Tarrlok, restrained by Earth, begs for them to let him go, to which they deny him and reveal their alliance to Amon, stating he would've taken their bending otherwise. Amon, thanking them, disables them all and takes away their bending, telling them that he was thankful for their betrayal of Tarrlok, but did not want a betrayal on himself in the future. Korra, furious with Amon and angry with herself for still not being strong enough, continues her assault before being taken down with Lieutenant's kali sticks. Suddenly, Lin saves her accompanied by Mako, Bolin and Asami. She reveals that while Tarrlok's been ruling the city with his benders, Amons been stirring up trouble in the poorer sections among nonbenders and benders, which was escalated by Tarrlok's radical laws. She also reveals that Tarrlok has used his Bloodbending to force the police force to submit to him after he imprisoned Lin for insubordination. Korra asks where Tenzin is, and she tells him that he's fled the city with his family, but not before breaking her and the rest of Team Avatar free from prison.
Lin, Asami, Bolin, Mako, and Korra all attack Amon and Lieutenant and their Equalists with their Mecha Tanks and such. Hiroshi hesitates to attack Asami outright, and Lieutenant violently shocks him for his weakness. Asami attacks Lieutenant, avenging her father by taking out Lieutenant for good alongside an angry Mako. Asami cries over her father's body, while Mako stops other Equalists from attacking her. Bolin and Lin use Earthbending to create a ditch to trap them in, and when Amon notices Lieutenant is down, he hesitates. Korra uses the opportunity to attack him and knock off his mask. His true face is revealed-his burnt and disfigured face. Shedding a tear from Lieutenants fall, Amon screams at Korra, calling her the Apocalypse that will end the world, along with all the other benders. Korra, angry as well as scared and hurt, manages to enter the Avatar state, and with her avatar state-enhanced voice, tells Amon that he has thrown Republic City out of balance, and that he deserved the ultimate punishment for doing such. Before she can attack him, Amon runs to Lieutenant and takes from beneath his collar a necklace. From his own neck, Amon reveals a necklace where there is half of a Yin-Yang symbol, with Lieutenant's having the other half. Pressing them together, he yells to Korra that, "Republic City WILL BE LIBERATED!" before Korra is suddenly knocked out of the Avatar State and the skies begin to change. Amon disappears, and a violently shaking erupts. Everyone is knocked out, and they wake up in the Spirit World. Republic City was sucked in.
Korra is alone in some street. She calls for her friends but there is no one around. Desperate for answers, she calls out for anyone and everyone, eventually collapsing and crying harshly. She can bend earth, water, fire, and air but it is no use as she couldn't save her friends. She wishes with all her heart that she wasn't the Avatar anymore, before being greeted by Aang. He tells her that 40 years ago, Yakone, the criminal mastermind, attempted to enter the Spirit World by himself. He succeeded, and managed to return with the Spirit Beast Koh, who began to steal faces left and right. Somehow, Yakone learned to control the beast, and Avatar Aang confronted him. Setting Koh on Aang, he quickly remained emotionless, begging for Koh to stop, but he did not. Remaining emotionless, Koh continued his onslaught, to which Aang entered the Avatar State and attacked Yakone. Fighting back with Koh, Aang manages to defeat them both. With Yakone defeated, Koh is suddenly brought out of a trance, and thanks Aang before disappearing. Aang finishes his story by telling Korra that he never saw Koh again, and Yakone's memories were seemingly wiped. He tells Korra that Republic City has been taken into the Spirit World, and she needs to bring it back, or the balance will be destroyed forever. Aang disappears afterward.
