Going Overboard with Legend of Korra Shipping?

I don't ship. I hate shipping. I dislike annoying shippers (Notice I said ANNOYING shippers), but I don't mind the topic or others who do ship.
(I find some of the subjects terrifying though...Jinora and Tahno made me tearbend with 'WTFlameo' reactions.)
About the closest thing I've come to shipping is Bolin with my undies. Bl

Lol yeah, Bokorra fans are fun too. Or the people who were 100% sure the reason Amon took Tarrlock from his cabin was to save Korra because he was in love with her. Those were some good times... People still ship people with him too lol.

I kinda wanted Zutara too but at the same time I was like "eh whatever happens happens" lol.

The main ones going overboard with the shipping is the creators themselves, having set up the entity of the show being so centered around shipping wars.

I don't ship, I couldn't care less about it after the end of season 1. Hearing about how season two is just going to be lousy with it again (relationship with MakoxKorra, Bolins apparent new romance, I bet the fluff between Korras parents, other s**t like that) so it'll just be another explosion in the fandumb to have massive ships again.

I had a very small ship of KorraxBolin at the start, but over time I just began to loath it thanks to the choices in the show. I never pay attention to shipping wars in the fandoms though, I learned my lesson long ago at how stupid people can get over fictional characters, so it'd better to just leave them to their own stupidity.

Nah, just kidding. I totally agree. People are a little crazy. I mean, Tenzin x Lin? I agree that they would be a nice couple IF Tenzin didn't already have a wife and family. People have no boundaries. D:

I guess shipping just can't be stopped, it's an un stopable force. As long as you have a cartoon with characters that people feel like they can relate with and throw in love interest's for those characters and you have your self a shipping pouder keg just waiting to explode with odd shippings.

Is it possible to not do this in the fandom?

I don't mean not having a little couple or two to root for ultimately. That's fine, but it's getting a bit crazy isn't it? With the Last Airbender, most of them were realistic (except Azula and Zuko, Moppa, and let's face it... Zutara), but here we have Iroh with, well, EVERYONE. Mako with Korra AND Asami. Jinora with that street kid Skoochi for no reason. What's next: Pabu and Bolin?

For the record, I actually liked Zutara. Even if it was a little bit far-fetched.

You know, Zutara WAS supposed to happen but the producers thought it'd be better 4 Kataang since it's Nickelodeon...they LOOOOVE happy endings 4 main characters.

I ship a little bit, but they are always canon. Unless I say I ship something incredibly cracky for comedic effect. My version is basically giving an excuse to squee when I come across something cute. But with Korra, just about every ship IS canon to some extent, so all I can say is that for everyone to be happy: Korra: Realize your one true love is Bolin. Mako: Realize your one true love is Asami. Lin: Find someone your age and available. :/ That pretty much solves all shipping problems and allows for plot to commence.
