About Yue specifically.

The moon spirit gave her life ... but did it also give her the ability to waterbend?

She wouldn't have been taught obviously, I'm sure most of you would remember that female waterbenders are not trained in the North Pole, but I just thought it would be an interesting question.

I don't think necessarily. It gave her influence OVER water bending but I think if she was a water bender she would've been exceptionally powerful. I think she would've had to have been a water bender by birth though. Then her powers would've been emphasized by the moon being inside of her.

wemen were taught healing through waterbending, not anything agressive, thats why katara learned how to heal and fight better after leavign the north pole.
